(Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:1 Jacobus, Dei et Domini nostri Jesu Christi servus, duodecim tribubus, quæ sunt in dispersione, salutem.~(vulgate) יַעֲקֹב עֶבֶד לֵאלֹהִים וּלְאָדוֹן יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֶל־הָעֵדָה הַפְּזוּרָה מִשְּׁנֵים עָשָׂר הַשְּׁבָטִים שָׁלוֹם׃ א James Jas 1:1 Jakobus, ein Knecht Gottes und des HERRN Jesu Christi, den zwölf Geschlechtern, die da sind hin und her, Freude zuvor!(dhs) Jam 1:1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.(nkjv) ======= James 1:2 ============ Jas 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,(nas) Jas 1:2 πᾶσαν χαρὰν ἡγήσασθε, ἀδελφοί μου, ὅταν πειρασμοῖς περιπέσητε ποικίλοις, (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:2 Omne gaudium existimate fratres mei, cum in tentationes varias incideritis:(vulgate) חִשְׁבוּ לָכֶם אַחַי אַךְ לְשִׂמְחָה אִם מַסּוֹת שֹׁנוֹת תִּקְרֶינָה אֶתְכֶם׃ ב James Jas 1:2 Meine lieben Brüder, achtet es für eitel Freude, wenn ihr in mancherlei Anfechtungen fallet,(dhs) Jam 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,(nkjv) ======= James 1:3 ============ Jas 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.(nas) Jas 1:3 γινώσκοντες ὅτι τὸ δοκίμιον ὑμῶν τῆς πίστεως κατεργάζεται ὑπομονήν· (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:3 scientes quod probatio fidei vestræ patientiam operatur.(vulgate) בְּדַעְתְּכֶם כִּי כוּר בֹּחֵן אֱמוּנַתְכֶם יִתֵּן לָכֶם אֶת־כֹּחַ הַסַּבָּל׃ ג James Jas 1:3 und wisset, daß euer Glaube, wenn er rechtschaffen ist, Geduld wirkt.(dhs) Jam 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.(nkjv) ======= James 1:4 ============ Jas 1:4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.(nas) Jas 1:4 ἡ δὲ ὑπομονὴ ἔργον τέλειον ἐχέτω, ἵνα ἦτε τέλειοι καὶ ὁλόκληροι, ἐν μηδενὶ λειπόμενοι. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:4 Patientia autem opus perfectum habet: ut sitis perfecti et integri in nullo deficientes.(vulgate) וּפְעֻלַּת כֹּחַ הַסַּבָּל תִּהְיֶה שְׁלֵמָה לְבַעֲבוּר תִּהְיוּ שְׁלֵמִים וּתְמִימִים וְלֹא יֶחְסַר לָכֶם דָּבָר׃ ד James Jas 1:4 Die Geduld aber soll festbleiben bis ans Ende, auf daß ihr seid vollkommen und ganz und keinen Mangel habet.(dhs) Jam 1:4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.(nkjv) ======= James 1:5 ============ Jas 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.(nas) Jas 1:5 εἰ δέ τις ὑμῶν λείπεται σοφίας, αἰτείτω παρὰ τοῦ διδόντος θεοῦ πᾶσιν ἁπλῶς καὶ μὴ ὀνειδίζοντος, καὶ δοθήσεται αὐτῶ. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:5 Si quis autem vestrum indiget sapientia, postulet a Deo, qui dat omnibus affluenter, et non improperat: et dabitur ei.(vulgate) וְאִישׁ מִכֶּם כִּי יֶחְסַר חָכְמָה יְבַקְשֶׁנָּה וְתִנָּתֶן־לוֹ מֵאֵת הָאֱלֹהִים הַנֹּתֵן לַכֹּל בְּרוּחַ נְדִיבָה וְאֵין־מַכְלִים דָּבָר׃ ה James Jas 1:5 So aber jemand unter euch Weisheit mangelt, der bitte Gott, der da gibt einfältig jedermann und rücket's niemand auf, so wird sie ihm gegeben werden.(dhs) Jam 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.(nkjv) ======= James 1:6 ============ Jas 1:6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.(nas) Jas 1:6 αἰτείτω δὲ ἐν πίστει, μηδὲν διακρινόμενος, ὁ γὰρ διακρινόμενος ἔοικεν κλύδωνι θαλάσσης ἀνεμιζομένῳ καὶ ῥιπιζομένῳ· (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:6 Postulet autem in fide nihil hæsitans: qui enim hæsitat, similis est fluctui maris, qui a vento movetur et circumfertur:(vulgate) אַךְ יְבַקֵּשׁ בֶּאֱמוּנָה וְלֹא יִפְסַח עַל־שְׁתֵּי סְעִפִּים כִּי הַפֹּסֵחַ עַל־שְׁתֵּי סְעִפִּים דּוֹמֶה הוּא לְגַלֵּי הַיָּם אֲשֶׁר הֵם עֹלִים וְיֹרְדִים מִפְּנֵי־רוּחַ׃ ו James Jas 1:6 Er bitte aber im Glauben und zweifle nicht; denn wer da zweifelt, der ist wie die Meereswoge, die vom Winde getrieben und gewebt wird.(dhs) Jam 1:6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.(nkjv) ======= James 1:7 ============ Jas 1:7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,(nas) Jas 1:7 μὴ γὰρ οἰέσθω ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖνος ὅτι λήμψεταί τι παρὰ τοῦ κυρίου, (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:7 non ergo æstimet homo ille quod accipiat aliquid a Domino.(vulgate) וְהָאִישׁ הַהוּא אַל־יְדַמֶּה בְנַפְשׁוֹ כִּי־יִשָּׂא דָבָר מֵאֵת יְהוָֹה׃ ז James Jas 1:7 Solcher Mensch denke nicht, daß er etwas von dem HERRN empfangen werde.(dhs) Jam 1:7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;(nkjv) ======= James 1:8 ============ Jas 1:8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.(nas) Jas 1:8 ἀνὴρ δίψυχος, ἀκατάστατος ἐν πάσαις ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:8 Vir duplex animo inconstans est in omnibus viis suis.(vulgate) אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר חָלַק לִבּוֹ פֹּחֵז הוּא בְּכָל־נְתִיבֹתָיו׃ ח James Jas 1:8 Ein Zweifler ist unbeständig in allen seinen Wegen.(dhs) Jam 1:8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.(nkjv) ======= James 1:9 ============ Jas 1:9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;(nas) Jas 1:9 καυχάσθω δὲ ὁ ἀδελφὸς ὁ ταπεινὸς ἐν τῶ ὕψει αὐτοῦ, (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:9 Glorietur autem frater humilis in exaltatione sua:(vulgate) אוּלָם אָח שָׁפֵל יִתְהַלֵּל בְּרוֹמְמוֹת נַפְשׁוֹ׃ ט James Jas 1:9 Ein Bruder aber, der niedrig ist, rühme sich seiner Höhe;(dhs) Jam 1:9 Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation,(nkjv) ======= James 1:10 ============ Jas 1:10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.(nas) Jas 1:10 ὁ δὲ πλούσιος ἐν τῇ ταπεινώσει αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ὡς ἄνθος χόρτου παρελεύσεται. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:10 dives autem in humilitate sua, quoniam sicut flos fœni transibit;(vulgate) וְעָשִׁיר בְּשִׁפְלוּת נַפְשׁוֹ כִּי כְצִיץ חָצִיר כֵּן יַעֲבֹר׃ י James Jas 1:10 und der da reich ist, rühme sich seiner Niedrigkeit, denn wie eine Blume des Grases wird er vergehen.(dhs) Jam 1:10 but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away.(nkjv) ======= James 1:11 ============ Jas 1:11 For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.(nas) Jas 1:11 ἀνέτειλεν γὰρ ὁ ἥλιος σὺν τῶ καύσωνι καὶ ἐξήρανεν τὸν χόρτον, καὶ τὸ ἄνθος αὐτοῦ ἐξέπεσεν καὶ ἡ εὐπρέπεια τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἀπώλετο· οὕτως καὶ ὁ πλούσιος ἐν ταῖς πορείαις αὐτοῦ μαρανθήσεται. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:11 exortus est enim sol cum ardore, et arefecit fœnum, et flos ejus decidit, et decor vultus ejus deperiit: ita et dives in itineribus suis marcescet.(vulgate) כִּי כְצֵאת הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ בִּגְבֻרָתוֹ יִיבַשׁ חָצִיר אֻמְלַל צִיץ וּצְבִי תִפְאַרְתּוֹ נֹבֵל כֵּן יִבֹּל הֶעָשִׁיר עֲלֵי־שְׁבִיל מְרוּצָתוֹ׃ יא James Jas 1:11 Die Sonne geht auf mit der Hitze, und das Gras verwelkt, und seine Blume fällt ab, und seine schöne Gestalt verdirbt: also wird der Reiche in seinen Wegen verwelken.(dhs) Jam 1:11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.(nkjv) ======= James 1:12 ============ Jas 1:12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.(nas) Jas 1:12 μακάριος ἀνὴρ ὃς ὑπομένει πειρασμόν, ὅτι δόκιμος γενόμενος λήμψεται τὸν στέφανον τῆς ζωῆς, ὃν ἐπηγγείλατο τοῖς ἀγαπῶσιν αὐτόν. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:12 Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem: quoniam cum probatus fuerit, accipiet coronam vitæ, quam repromisit Deus diligentibus se.(vulgate) אַשְׁרֵי הָאִישׁ הַנִּבְחַן בְּמַסָּה כִּי בְהִבָּחֲנוֹ יִשָּׂא עֲטֶרֶת הַחַיִּים אֲשֶׁר־דִבֶּר אֲדֹנָי לְאֹהֲבָיו׃ יב James Jas 1:12 Selig ist der Mann, der die Anfechtung erduldet; denn nachdem er bewährt ist, wird er die Krone des Lebens empfangen, welche Gott verheißen hat denen, die ihn liebhaben.(dhs) Jam 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.(nkjv) ======= James 1:13 ============ Jas 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.(nas) Jas 1:13 μηδεὶς πειραζόμενος λεγέτω ὅτι ἀπὸ θεοῦ πειράζομαι· ὁ γὰρ θεὸς ἀπείραστός ἐστιν κακῶν, πειράζει δὲ αὐτὸς οὐδένα. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:13 Nemo cum tentatur, dicat quoniam a Deo tentatur: Deus enim intentator malorum est: ipse autem neminem tentat.(vulgate) אַל־יֹאמַר הַנִּכְשָׁל בְּמַסָּה הָאֱלֹהִים נִסָּה אֹתִי כִּי כַאֲשֶׁר אֵין מְנַסֶּה אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים בְּרָע כֵּן גַּם־הוּא לֹא־יְנַסֶּה אִישׁ׃ יג James Jas 1:13 Niemand sage, wenn er versucht wird, daß er von Gott versucht werde. Denn Gott kann nicht versucht werden zum Bösen, und er selbst versucht niemand.(dhs) Jam 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.(nkjv) ======= James 1:14 ============ Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.(nas) Jas 1:14 ἕκαστος δὲ πειράζεται ὑπὸ τῆς ἰδίας ἐπιθυμίας ἐξελκόμενος καὶ δελεαζόμενος· (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:14 Unusquisque vero tentatur a concupiscentia sua abstractus, et illectus.(vulgate) אַךְ כָּל־אִישׁ תַּאֲוַת נַפְשׁוֹ תְּנַסֵּהוּ כִּי יִמָּשֵׁךְ וְיִלָּכֶד־בָּהּ׃ יד James Jas 1:14 Sondern ein jeglicher wird versucht, wenn er von seiner eigenen Lust gereizt und gelockt wird.(dhs) Jam 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.(nkjv) ======= James 1:15 ============ Jas 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.(nas) Jas 1:15 εἶτα ἡ ἐπιθυμία συλλαβοῦσα τίκτει ἁμαρτίαν, ἡ δὲ ἁμαρτία ἀποτελεσθεῖσα ἀποκύει θάνατον. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:15 Deinde concupiscentia cum conceperit, parit peccatum: peccatum vero cum consummatum fuerit, generat mortem.(vulgate) וְהַתַּאֲוָה אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר הָרְתָה תֵּלֵד חֵטְא וְהַחֵטְא כַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא שָׁלֵם יוֹלִיד מָוֶת׃ טו James Jas 1:15 Darnach, wenn die Lust empfangen hat, gebiert sie die Sünde; die Sünde aber, wenn sie vollendet ist, gebiert sie den Tod.(dhs) Jam 1:15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.(nkjv) ======= James 1:16 ============ Jas 1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.(nas) Jas 1:16 μὴ πλανᾶσθε, ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοί. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:16 Nolite itaque errare, fratres mei dilectissimi.(vulgate) אַל־תַּתְעוּ אֶת־נַפְשְׁכֶם אַחַי הַיְקָרִים׃ טז James Jas 1:16 Irret nicht, liebe Brüder.(dhs) Jam 1:16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.(nkjv) ======= James 1:17 ============ Jas 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.(nas) Jas 1:17 πᾶσα δόσις ἀγαθὴ καὶ πᾶν δώρημα τέλειον ἄνωθέν ἐστιν, καταβαῖνον ἀπὸ τοῦ πατρὸς τῶν φώτων, παρ᾽ ᾧ οὐκ ἔνι παραλλαγὴ ἢ τροπῆς ἀποσκίασμα. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:17 Omne datum optimum, et omne donum perfectum desursum est, descendens a Patre luminum, apud quem non est transmutatio, nec vicissitudinis obumbratio.(vulgate) כָּל־מַתָּנָה טוֹבָה וְכָל־תְּשׁוּרָה שְׁלֵמָה יֹרֶדֶת מֵעָל מֵאֵת אֲבִי הַמְּאֹרֹת אֲשֶׁר אֵין־חֲלִיפוֹת לוֹ אַף לֹא צֵל תְּמוּרָה׃ יז James Jas 1:17 Alle gute Gabe und alle vollkommene Gabe kommt von obenherab, von dem Vater des Lichts, bei welchem ist keine Veränderung noch Wechsel des Lichtes und der Finsternis.(dhs) Jam 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.(nkjv) ======= James 1:18 ============ Jas 1:18 In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.(nas) Jas 1:18 βουληθεὶς ἀπεκύησεν ἡμᾶς λόγῳ ἀληθείας, εἰς τὸ εἶναι ἡμᾶς ἀπαρχήν τινα τῶν αὐτοῦ κτισμάτων. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:18 Voluntarie enim genuit nos verbo veritatis, ut simus initium aliquod creaturæ ejus.~(vulgate) וְהוּא בְּאַוַּת נַפְשׁוֹ הוֹלִיד אֹתָנוּ בִּדְבַר אֲמִתּוֹ לִהְיוֹת לוֹ כְּרֵאשִׁית תְּבוּאָתוֹ בְּתוֹךְ יְצוּרָיו׃ יח James Jas 1:18 Er hat uns gezeugt nach seinem Willen durch das Wort der Wahrheit, auf daß wir wären Erstlinge seiner Kreaturen.(dhs) Jam 1:18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.(nkjv) ======= James 1:19 ============ Jas 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;(nas) Jas 1:19 ἴστε, ἀδελφοί μου ἀγαπητοί. ἔστω δὲ πᾶς ἄνθρωπος ταχὺς εἰς τὸ ἀκοῦσαι, βραδὺς εἰς τὸ λαλῆσαι, βραδὺς εἰς ὀργήν· (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:19 Scitis, fratres mei dilectissimi. Sit autem omnis homo velox ad audiendum: tardus autem ad loquendum, et tardus ad iram.(vulgate) לָכֶן אַחַי הַיְקָרִים יְהִי כָל־אִישׁ מִכֶּם מָהִיר לִשְׁמֹעַ בּשֵׁשׁ לְדַבֵּר וּבשֵׁשׁ לִקְצָף־קָצֶף׃ יט James Jas 1:19 Darum, liebe Brüder, ein jeglicher Mensch sei schnell, zu hören, langsam aber, zu reden, und langsam zum Zorn.(dhs) Jam 1:19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;(nkjv) ======= James 1:20 ============ Jas 1:20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.(nas) Jas 1:20 ὀργὴ γὰρ ἀνδρὸς δικαιοσύνην θεοῦ οὐκ ἐργάζεται. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:20 Ira enim viri justitiam Dei non operatur.(vulgate) כִּי־קֶצֶף אָדָם לֹא יִפְעַל צִדְקַת אֱלֹהִים׃ כ James Jas 1:20 Denn des Menschen Zorn tut nicht, was vor Gott recht ist.(dhs) Jam 1:20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.(nkjv) ======= James 1:21 ============ Jas 1:21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.(nas) Jas 1:21 διὸ ἀποθέμενοι πᾶσαν ῥυπαρίαν καὶ περισσείαν κακίας ἐν πραΰτητι δέξασθε τὸν ἔμφυτον λόγον τὸν δυνάμενον σῶσαι τὰς ψυχὰς ὑμῶν. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:21 Propter quod abjicientes omnem immunditiam, et abundantiam malitiæ, in mansuetudine suscipite insitum verbum, quod potest salvare animas vestras.(vulgate) עַל־כֵּן הָסִירוּ מֵעֲלֵיכֶם כָּל־גִּלּוּלִים וְכֹבֶד רִשְׁעָה וּבַעֲנָוָה הַחֲזִיקוּ בַתּוֹרָה הַנְּטוּעָה בְתוֹכֲכֶם אֲשֶׁר יֶשׁ־בָּהּ לְהוֹשִׁיעַ לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם׃ כא James Jas 1:21 Darum so leget ab alle Unsauberkeit und alle Bosheit und nehmet das Wort an mit Sanftmut, das in euch gepflanzt ist, welches kann eure Seelen selig machen.(dhs) Jam 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.(nkjv) ======= James 1:22 ============ Jas 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.(nas) Jas 1:22 γίνεσθε δὲ ποιηταὶ λόγου καὶ μὴ μόνον ἀκροαταὶ παραλογιζόμενοι ἑαυτούς. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:24 consideravit enim se, et abiit, et statim oblitus est qualis fuerit.(vulgate) כִּי הוּא מַבִּיט בְּפָנָיו וּכְרֶגַע הוֹלֵךְ וְשֹׁכֵחַ מַה־תַּאֳרוֹ׃ כד James Jas 1:24 Denn nachdem er sich beschaut hat, geht er davon und vergißt von Stund an, wie er gestaltet war.(dhs) Jam 1:24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.(nkjv) ======= James 1:25 ============ Jas 1:25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.(nas) Jas 1:25 ὁ δὲ παρακύψας εἰς νόμον τέλειον τὸν τῆς ἐλευθερίας καὶ παραμείνας, οὐκ ἀκροατὴς ἐπιλησμονῆς γενόμενος ἀλλὰ ποιητὴς ἔργου, οὖτος μακάριος ἐν τῇ ποιήσει αὐτοῦ ἔσται. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:25 Qui autem perspexerit in legem perfectam libertatis, et permanserit in ea, non auditor obliviosus factus, sed factor operis: hic beatus in facto suo erit.(vulgate) אַךְ הַשָּׂם עֵינוֹ בַתּוֹרָה הַתְּמִימָה אֲשֶׁר חֹפֶשׁ בָּהּ וְהֹגֶה בָהּ תָּמִיד וְאֶינֵנּוּ שֹׁמֵעַ וְשֹׁכֵחַ כִּי אִם־עֹשֶׂה הַדָּבָר לְמַעֲנֵהוּ הָאִישׁ הַהוּא יְאֻשַּׁר בְּמַעֲשֵׂהוּ׃ כה James Jas 1:25 Wer aber durchschaut in das vollkommene Gesetz der Freiheit und darin beharrt und ist nicht ein vergeßlicher Hörer, sondern ein Täter, der wird selig sein in seiner Tat.(dhs) Jam 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.(nkjv) ======= James 1:26 ============ Jas 1:26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless.(nas) Jas 1:26 εἴ τις δοκεῖ θρησκὸς εἶναι, μὴ χαλιναγωγῶν γλῶσσαν αὐτοῦ ἀλλὰ ἀπατῶν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ, τούτου μάταιος ἡ θρησκεία. (Nestle-Aland) Jas 1:26 Si quis autem putat se religiosum esse, non refrenans linguam suam, sed seducens cor suum, hujus vana est religio.(vulgate) וְאִם־יְדַמֶּה אִישׁ מִכֵּם לִהְיוֹת עֹבֵד אֱלֹהִים וְלֹא יִשְׁמֹר רֶסֶן לְשׁוֹנוֹ כִּי אִם־יַתְעֶה אֶת־לְבָבוֹ עֲבֹדָתוֹ הֶבֶל הִיא׃ כו James Jas 1:26 So sich jemand unter euch läßt dünken, er diene Gott, und hält seine Zunge nicht im Zaum, sondern täuscht sein Herz, des Gottesdienst ist eitel.(dhs) Jam 1:26 If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion is useless.(nkjv) ======= James 1:27 ============ Jas 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.(nas) Jas 1:27 θρησκεία καθαρὰ καὶ ἀμίαντος παρὰ τῶ θεῶ καὶ πατρὶ αὕτη ἐστίν, ἐπισκέπτεσθαι ὀρφανοὺς καὶ χήρας ἐν τῇ θλίψει αὐτῶν, ἄσπιλον ἑαυτὸν τηρεῖν ἀπὸ τοῦ κόσμου.
