Today's Date: ======= Revelation 17:1 ============ Rev 17:1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,(nas) Rev 17:1 καὶ ἦλθεν εἷς ἐκ τῶν ἑπτὰ ἀγγέλων τῶν ἐχόντων τὰς ἑπτὰ φιάλας, καὶ ἐλάλησεν μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ λέγων, δεῦρο, δείξω σοι τὸ κρίμα τῆς πόρνης τῆς μεγάλης τῆς καθημένης ἐπὶ ὑδάτων πολλῶν, (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:1 Et venit unus de septem angelis, qui habebant septem phialas, et locutus est mecum, dicens: Veni, ostendam tibi damnationem meretricis magnæ, quæ sedet super aquas multas,(vulgate) וַיָּבֹא אֶחָד מִן־שִׁבְעַת הַמַּלְאָכִים נֹשְׂאֵי שִׁבְעַת הַמִּזְרָקִים וַיְדַבֵּר עִמָּדִי לֵאמֹר אֵלַי בֹּא וְאַרְאֲךָ אֶת־מִשְׁפַּט הַזּוֹנָה הַגְּדוֹלָה הַיּשֶׁבֶת עַל־מַיִם רַבִּים׃ א Revelation Rev 17:1 Und es kam einer von den sieben Engeln, die die sieben Schalen hatten, redete mit mir und sprach zu mir: Komm, ich will dir zeigen das Urteil der großen Hure, die da an vielen Wassern sitzt;(dhs) Rev 17:1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:2 ============ Rev 17:2 with whom the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk with the wine of her immorality."(nas) Rev 17:2 μεθ᾽ ἧς ἐπόρνευσαν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἐμεθύσθησαν οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν γῆν ἐκ τοῦ οἴνου τῆς πορνείας αὐτῆς. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:2 cum qua fornicati sunt reges terræ, et inebriati sunt qui inhabitant terram de vino prostitutionis ejus.(vulgate) אֲשֶׁר זָנוּ אַחֲרֶיהָ מַלְכֵי הָאָרֶץ וְישְׁבֵי תֵבֵל הִשְׁתַּכְּרוּ מִיֵּין תַּזְנֻתָהּ׃ ב Revelation Rev 17:2 mit welcher gehurt haben die Könige auf Erden; und die da wohnen auf Erden, sind trunken geworden von dem Wein ihrer Hurerei.(dhs) Rev 17:2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication."(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:3 ============ Rev 17:3 And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.(nas) Rev 17:3 καὶ ἀπήνεγκέν με εἰς ἔρημον ἐν πνεύματι. καὶ εἶδον γυναῖκα καθημένην ἐπὶ θηρίον κόκκινον, γέμον[τα] ὀνόματα βλασφημίας, ἔχων κεφαλὰς ἑπτὰ καὶ κέρατα δέκα. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:3 Et abstulit me in spiritu in desertum. Et vidi mulierem sedentem super bestiam coccineam, plenam nominibus blasphemiæ, habentem capita septem, et cornua decem.(vulgate) וַיּוֹלִיכֵנִי בָרוּחַ הַמִּדְבָּרָה וָאֵרֶא אִשָּׁה ישֶׁבֶת עַל־חַיָּה אֲדֻמָּה כַתּוֹלָע מְלֵאָה שְׁמוֹת גִּדּוּפִים וְשִׁבְעָה רָאשִׁים לָהּ וְעֶשֶׂר קְרָנָיִם׃ ג Revelation Rev 17:3 Und er brachte mich im Geist in die Wüste. Und ich sah ein Weib sitzen auf einem scharlachfarbenen Tier, das war voll Namen der Lästerung und hatte sieben Häupter und zehn Hörner.(dhs) Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:4 ============ Rev 17:4 The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality,(nas) Rev 17:4 καὶ ἡ γυνὴ ἦν περιβεβλημένη πορφυροῦν καὶ κόκκινον, καὶ κεχρυσωμένη χρυσίῳ καὶ λίθῳ τιμίῳ καὶ μαργαρίταις, ἔχουσα ποτήριον χρυσοῦν ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτῆς γέμον βδελυγμάτων καὶ τὰ ἀκάθαρτα τῆς πορνείας αὐτῆς, (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:4 Et mulier erat circumdata purpura, et coccino, et inaurata auro, et lapide pretioso, et margaritis, habens poculum aureum in manu sua, plenum abominatione, et immunditia fornicationis ejus.(vulgate) וְהָאִשָּׁה לְבוּשָׁהּ אַרְגָּמָן וּשְׁנִי תוֹלַעַת וְעֹטָה זָהָב אַבְנֵי־חֵפֶץ וּפְנִינִים וְכוֹס זָהָב בְּיָדָהּ מְלֵאָה שִׁקּוּצִים וְתוֹעֲבוֹת זְנוּנֶיהָ׃ ד Revelation Rev 17:4 Und das Weib war bekleidet mit Purpur und Scharlach und übergoldet mit Gold und edlen Steinen und Perlen und hatte einen goldenen Becher in der Hand, voll Greuel und Unsauberkeit ihrer Hurerei,(dhs) Rev 17:4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:5 ============ Rev 17:5 and on her forehead a name was written, a mystery," BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."(nas) Rev 17:5 καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ μέτωπον αὐτῆς ὄνομα γεγραμμένον, μυστήριον, βαβυλὼν ἡ μεγάλη, ἡ μήτηρ τῶν πορνῶν καὶ τῶν βδελυγμάτων τῆς γῆς. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:5 Et in fronte ejus nomen scriptum: Mysterium: Babylon magna, mater fornicationum, et abominationum terræ.(vulgate) וְעַל־מִצְחָהּ כָּתוּב שֵׁם בְּדֶרֶךְ סוֹד בָּבֶל הַגְּדוֹלָה הִיא אֵם הַזְּנוּת וְשִׁקּוּצֵי הָאָרֶץ׃ ה Revelation Rev 17:5 und an ihrer Stirn geschrieben einen Namen, ein Geheimnis: Die große Babylon, die Mutter der Hurerei und aller Greuel auf Erden.(dhs) Rev 17:5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:6 ============ Rev 17:6 And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered greatly.(nas) Rev 17:6 καὶ εἶδον τὴν γυναῖκα μεθύουσαν ἐκ τοῦ αἵματος τῶν ἁγίων καὶ ἐκ τοῦ αἵματος τῶν μαρτύρων ἰησοῦ. καὶ ἐθαύμασα ἰδὼν αὐτὴν θαῦμα μέγα. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:6 Et vidi mulierem ebriam de sanguine sanctorum, et de sanguine martyrum Jesu. Et miratus sum cum vidissem illam admiratione magna.(vulgate) וָאֵרֶא אֶת־הָאִשָּׁה שִׁכֹּרָה מִדַּם הַקְּדוֹשִׁים וְעֵדֵי יֵשׁוּעַ וְשַׁמָּה אֲחָזַתְנִי עַד־מְאֹד מַרְאוֹת אֹתָהּ׃ ו Revelation Rev 17:6 Und ich sah das Weib trunken von dem Blut der Heiligen und von dem Blute der Zeugen Jesu. Und ich verwunderte mich sehr, da ich sie sah.(dhs) Rev 17:6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:7 ============ Rev 17:7 And the angel said to me, "Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.(nas) Rev 17:7 καὶ εἶπέν μοι ὁ ἄγγελος, διὰ τί ἐθαύμασας; ἐγὼ ἐρῶ σοι τὸ μυστήριον τῆς γυναικὸς καὶ τοῦ θηρίου τοῦ βαστάζοντος αὐτήν, τοῦ ἔχοντος τὰς ἑπτὰ κεφαλὰς καὶ τὰ δέκα κέρατα· (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:7 Et dixit mihi angelus: Quare miraris? ego dicam tibi sacramentum mulieris, et bestiæ, quæ portat eam, quæ habet capita septem, et cornua decem.(vulgate) וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלַי הַמַּלְאָךְ לָמָּה זֶּה תִּשְׁתּוֹמֵם הִנְנִי מַגִּיד לְךָ סוֹד הָאִשָּׁה וְהַחַיָּה הַנֹּשֵׂאת אֹתָהּ בַּעֲלַת שִׁבְעָה רָאשִׁים וְעֶשֶׂר קְרָנָיִם׃ ז Revelation Rev 17:7 Und der Engel spricht zu mir: Warum verwunderst du dich? Ich will dir sagen das Geheimnis von dem Weibe und von dem Tier, das sie trägt und hat sieben Häupter und zehn Hörner.(dhs) Rev 17:7 But the angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:8 ============ Rev 17:8 "The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.(nas) Rev 17:8 τὸ θηρίον ὃ εἶδες ἦν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν, καὶ μέλλει ἀναβαίνειν ἐκ τῆς ἀβύσσου, καὶ εἰς ἀπώλειαν ὑπάγει· καὶ θαυμασθήσονται οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ὧν οὐ γέγραπται τὸ ὄνομα ἐπὶ τὸ βιβλίον τῆς ζωῆς ἀπὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου, βλεπόντων τὸ θηρίον ὅτι ἦν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν καὶ παρέσται. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:8 Bestia, quam vidisti, fuit, et non est, et ascensura est de abysso, et in interitum ibit: et mirabuntur inhabitantes terram (quorum non sunt scripta nomina in libro vitæ a constitutione mundi) videntes bestiam, quæ erat, et non est.(vulgate) הַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר רָאֲתָה עֵינְךָ הָיְתָה בָאָרֶץ אַחֲרֵי־כֵן חָלְפָה לָּהּ וְעוֹד תַּעֲלֶה מִן־הַתְּהוֹם וְלַאֲבַדּוֹן תֵּרֵד וְישְׁבֵי תֵבֵל אֲשֶׁר לֹא נִכְתְּבוּ שְׁמוֹתָם בְּסֵפֶר הַחַיִּים מֵרֹאשׁ מִקַּדְמֵי אֶרֶץ שַׁמָּה תֹאחֲזֵם בִּרְאֹתָם אֶת־הַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה וְאֵינֶנָּה וַעֲתִידָה לָבֹא׃ ח Revelation Rev 17:8 Das Tier, das du gesehen hast, ist gewesen und ist nicht und wird wiederkommen aus dem Abgrund und wird fahren in die Verdammnis, und es werden sich verwundern, die auf Erden wohnen, deren Namen nicht geschrieben stehen in dem Buch des Lebens von Anfang der Welt, wenn sie sehen das Tier, daß es gewesen ist und nicht ist und dasein wird.(dhs) Rev 17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:9 ============ Rev 17:9 Here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits,(nas) Rev 17:9 ὧδε ὁ νοῦς ὁ ἔχων σοφίαν. αἱ ἑπτὰ κεφαλαὶ ἑπτὰ ὄρη εἰσίν, ὅπου ἡ γυνὴ κάθηται ἐπ᾽ αὐτῶν. καὶ βασιλεῖς ἑπτά εἰσιν· (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:9 Et hic est sensus, qui habet sapientiam. Septem capita, septem montes sunt, super quos mulier sedet, et reges septem sunt.(vulgate) פֹּה אִישׁ תְּבוּנוֹת יָבִין שִׁבְעָה הָרָאשִׁים שִׁבְעָה הָרִים הֵם אֲשֶׁר הָאִשָּׁה ישֶׁבֶת עֲלֵיהֶם׃ ט Revelation Rev 17:9 Hier ist der Sinn, der zur Weisheit gehört! Die sieben Häupter sind sieben Berge, auf welchen das Weib sitzt, und sind sieben Könige.(dhs) Rev 17:9 Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:10 ============ Rev 17:10 and they are seven kings; five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while.(nas) Rev 17:10 οἱ πέντε ἔπεσαν, ὁ εἷς ἔστιν, ὁ ἄλλος οὔπω ἦλθεν, καὶ ὅταν ἔλθῃ ὀλίγον αὐτὸν δεῖ μεῖναι. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:10 Quinque ceciderunt, unus est, et alius nondum venit: et cum venerit, oportet illum breve tempus manere.(vulgate) וְהַמְּלָכִים שִׁבְעָה הֵם חֲמִשָּׁה מֵהֶם נָפָלוּ אֶחָד מֹלֵךְ כַּיּוֹם וְהָאַחֲרוֹן לֹא־בָא עוֹד וְהָיָה כִּי יָבֹא יַעֲמֹד אַךְ לִזְמָן קָטֹן׃ י Revelation Rev 17:10 Fünf sind gefallen, und einer ist, und der andere ist noch nicht gekommen; und wenn er kommt, muß er eine kleine Zeit bleiben.(dhs) Rev 17:10 There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:11 ============ Rev 17:11 The beast which was and is not, is himself also an eighth and is one of the seven, and he goes to destruction.(nas) Rev 17:11 καὶ τὸ θηρίον ὃ ἦν καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν, καὶ αὐτὸς ὄγδοός ἐστιν καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἑπτά ἐστιν, καὶ εἰς ἀπώλειαν ὑπάγει. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:11 Et bestia, quæ erat, et non est: et ipsa octava est: et de septem est, et in interitum vadit.(vulgate) וְהַחַיָּה אֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה וְאֵינֶנָּה הוּא מֶלֶךְ שְׁמִינִי וּמִן־הַשִּׁבְעָה הוּא וְלַאֲבַדּוֹן יֵלֵךְ׃ יא Revelation Rev 17:11 Und das Tier, das gewesen und ist nicht, das ist der achte und ist von den sieben und fährt in die Verdammnis.(dhs) Rev 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:12 ============ Rev 17:12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour.(nas) Rev 17:12 καὶ τὰ δέκα κέρατα ἃ εἶδες δέκα βασιλεῖς εἰσιν, οἵτινες βασιλείαν οὔπω ἔλαβον, ἀλλὰ ἐξουσίαν ὡς βασιλεῖς μίαν ὥραν λαμβάνουσιν μετὰ τοῦ θηρίου. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:12 Et decem cornua, quæ vidisti, decem reges sunt: qui regnum nondum acceperunt, sed potestatem tamquam reges una hora accipient post bestiam.(vulgate) וְעֶשֶׂר הַקְּרָנַיִם אֲשֶׁר רָאִיתָ עֲשָׂרָה מְלָכִים הֵם אֲשֶׁר לֹא הִגִּיעוּ עוֹד לַמְּלוּכָה כִּי אִם־כִּמְלָכִים יִמְשְׁלוּ שָׁעָה אַחַת עִם־הַחַיָּה׃ יב Revelation Rev 17:12 Und die zehn Hörner, die du gesehen hast, das sind zehn Könige, die das Reich noch nicht empfangen haben; aber wie Könige werden sie eine Zeit Macht empfangen mit dem Tier.(dhs) Rev 17:12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:13 ============ Rev 17:13 These have one purpose, and they give their power and authority to the beast.(nas) Rev 17:13 οὖτοι μίαν γνώμην ἔχουσιν, καὶ τὴν δύναμιν καὶ ἐξουσίαν αὐτῶν τῶ θηρίῳ διδόασιν. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:13 Hi unum consilium habent, et virtutem, et potestatem suam bestiæ tradent.(vulgate) וְרוּחַ אֶחָד בָּהֶם וְאֶת־חֵילָם וּמֶמְשַׁלְתָּם יִתְּנוּ אֶל־הַחַיָּה׃ יג Revelation Rev 17:13 Die haben eine Meinung und werden ihre Kraft und Macht geben dem Tier.(dhs) Rev 17:13 These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:14 ============ Rev 17:14 These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful."(nas) Rev 17:14 οὖτοι μετὰ τοῦ ἀρνίου πολεμήσουσιν, καὶ τὸ ἀρνίον νικήσει αὐτούς, ὅτι κύριος κυρίων ἐστὶν καὶ βασιλεὺς βασιλέων, καὶ οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ κλητοὶ καὶ ἐκλεκτοὶ καὶ πιστοί. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:14 Hi cum Agno pugnabunt, et Agnus vincet illos: quoniam Dominus dominorum est, et Rex regum, et qui cum illo sunt, vocati, electi, et fideles.(vulgate) וְהֵם יִלָּחֲמוּ אֶת־הַשֶּׂה וְהַשֶּׂה יִגְבַּר עֲלֵיהֶם כִּי הוּא אֲדוֹן הָאֲדֹנִים וּמֶלֶךְ הַמְּלָכִים וּצְבָאָיו עִמּוֹ קְרִיאֵי אֵל בְּחִירָיו וְנֶאֱמָנָיו׃ יד Revelation Rev 17:14 Diese werden streiten mit dem Lamm, und das Lamm wird sie überwinden (denn es ist der HERR aller Herren und der König aller Könige) und mit ihm die Berufenen und Auserwählten und Gläubigen.(dhs) Rev 17:14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful."(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:15 ============ Rev 17:15 And he said to me, "The waters which you saw where the harlot sits, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues.(nas) Rev 17:15 καὶ λέγει μοι, τὰ ὕδατα ἃ εἶδες, οὖ ἡ πόρνη κάθηται, λαοὶ καὶ ὄχλοι εἰσὶν καὶ ἔθνη καὶ γλῶσσαι. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:15 Et dixit mihi: Aquæ, quas vidisti ubi meretrix sedet, populi sunt, et gentes, et linguæ.(vulgate) וַיּוֹסֶף וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָי הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר רָאִיתָ אֲשֶׁר ישֶׁבֶת שָׁם הַזּוֹנָה הֵם עַמִּים וּקְהַל עַמִּים וְגוֹיִם וּלְשֹׁנוֹת׃ טו Revelation Rev 17:15 Und er sprach zu mir: Die Wasser, die du gesehen hast, da die Hure sitzt, sind Völker und Scharen und Heiden und Sprachen.(dhs) Rev 17:15 Then he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:16 ============ Rev 17:16 And the ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and will burn her up with fire.(nas) Rev 17:16 καὶ τὰ δέκα κέρατα ἃ εἶδες καὶ τὸ θηρίον, οὖτοι μισήσουσιν τὴν πόρνην, καὶ ἠρημωμένην ποιήσουσιν αὐτὴν καὶ γυμνήν, καὶ τὰς σάρκας αὐτῆς φάγονται, καὶ αὐτὴν κατακαύσουσιν ἐν πυρί· (Nestle-Aland) Rev 17:16 Et decem cornua, quæ vidisti in bestia: hi odient fornicariam, et desolatam facient illam, et nudam, et carnes ejus manducabunt, et ipsam igni concremabunt.(vulgate) וְעֶשֶׂר הַקְּרָנַיִם אֲשֶׁר רָאִיתָ עִם־הַחַיָּה הֵם יַחְדָּו יִשְׂנְאוּהָ אֶת־הַזּוֹנָה וְהִצִּיגוּהָ שֹׁמֵמָה וַעֲרֻמָּה וְאָכְלוּ אֶת־בְּשָׂרָהּ וּשְׂרָפוּהָ כָּלִיל בָּאֵשׁ׃ טז Revelation Rev 17:16 Und die zehn Hörner, die du gesehen hast, und das Tier, die werden die Hure hassen und werden sie einsam machen und bloß und werden ihr Fleisch essen und werden sie mit Feuer verbrennen.(dhs) Rev 17:16 And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 17:17 ============ Rev 17:17 For God has put it in their hearts to execute His purpose by having a common purpose, and by giving their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God will be fulfilled.(nas) Rev 17:17 ὁ γὰρ θεὸς ἔδωκεν εἰς τὰς καρδίας αὐτῶν ποιῆσαι τὴν γνώμην αὐτοῦ, καὶ ποιῆσαι μίαν γνώμην καὶ δοῦναι τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτῶν τῶ θηρίῳ, ἄχρι τελεσθήσονται οἱ λόγοι τοῦ θεοῦ.
