Today's Date: ======= Revelation 18:1 ============ Rev 18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory.(nas) Rev 18:1 μετὰ ταῦτα εἶδον ἄλλον ἄγγελον καταβαίνοντα ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ἔχοντα ἐξουσίαν μεγάλην, καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐφωτίσθη ἐκ τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:1 Et post hæc vidi alium angelum descendentem de cælo, habentem potestatem magnam: et terra illuminata est a gloria ejus.(vulgate) וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵן רָאִיתִי מַלְאָךְ אַחֵר יֹרֵד מִן־הַשָּׁמָיִם שַׂר וְגָדוֹל וְהָאָרֶץ הֵאִירָה מִכְּבֹדוֹ׃ א Revelation Rev 18:1 Und darnach sah ich einen andern Engel herniederfahren vom Himmel, der hatte eine große Macht, und die Erde ward erleuchtet von seiner Klarheit.(dhs) Rev 18:1 After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:2 ============ Rev 18:2 And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.(nas) Rev 18:2 καὶ ἔκραξεν ἐν ἰσχυρᾷ φωνῇ λέγων, ἔπεσεν, ἔπεσεν βαβυλὼν ἡ μεγάλη, καὶ ἐγένετο κατοικητήριον δαιμονίων καὶ φυλακὴ παντὸς πνεύματος ἀκαθάρτου καὶ φυλακὴ παντὸς ὀρνέου ἀκαθάρτου [καὶ φυλακὴ παντὸς θηρίου ἀκαθάρτου] καὶ μεμισημένου, (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:2 Et exclamavit in fortitudine, dicens: Cecidit, cecidit Babylon magna: et facta est habitatio dæmoniorum, et custodia omnis spiritus immundi, et custodia omnis volucris immundæ, et odibilis:(vulgate) וַיִּקְרָא בְּכֹחַ וְעֹז לֵאמֹר נָפְלָה נָפְלָה בָּבֶל הַגְּדוֹלָה הָיְתָה לִנְוֵה שְׂעִירִים בָּתֵּי כְלָאִים לְכָל־רוּחַ טָמֵא וְקֵן לְכָל־עוֹף שֶׁקֶץ וְנִתְעָב׃ ב Revelation Rev 18:2 Und er schrie aus Macht mit großer Stimme und sprach: Sie ist gefallen, sie ist gefallen, Babylon, die große, und eine Behausung der Teufel geworden und ein Behältnis aller unreinen Geister und ein Behältnis aller unreinen und verhaßten Vögel.(dhs) Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:3 ============ Rev 18:3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the passion of her immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth of her sensuality."(nas) Rev 18:3 ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ οἴνου τοῦ θυμοῦ τῆς πορνείας αὐτῆς πέπωκαν πάντα τὰ ἔθνη, καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς μετ᾽ αὐτῆς ἐπόρνευσαν, καὶ οἱ ἔμποροι τῆς γῆς ἐκ τῆς δυνάμεως τοῦ στρήνους αὐτῆς ἐπλούτησαν. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:3 quia de vino iræ fornicationis ejus biberunt omnes gentes: et reges terræ cum illa fornicati sunt: et mercatores terræ de virtute deliciarum ejus divites facti sunt.(vulgate) כִּי מִיֵין חֲמַת תַּזְנֻתָהּ שָׁחוּ כָל־הַגּוֹיִם וּמַלְכֵי תֵבֵל זָנוּ אֵלֶיהָ וְסֹחֲרֵי אֶרֶץ הֶעְשִׁירוּ מִשִּׁפְעַת חֵיל תַּעֲנֻגֶיהָ׃ ג Revelation Rev 18:3 Denn von dem Wein des Zorns ihrer Hurerei haben alle Heiden getrunken, und die Könige auf Erden haben mit ihr Hurerei getrieben, und die Kaufleute auf Erden sind reich geworden von ihrer großen Wollust.(dhs) Rev 18:3 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury."(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:4 ============ Rev 18:4 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues;(nas) Rev 18:4 καὶ ἤκουσα ἄλλην φωνὴν ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ λέγουσαν, ἐξέλθατε, ὁ λαός μου, ἐξ αὐτῆς, ἵνα μὴ συγκοινωνήσητε ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτῆς, καὶ ἐκ τῶν πληγῶν αὐτῆς ἵνα μὴ λάβητε· (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:4 Et audivi aliam vocem de cælo, dicentem: Exite de illa populus meus: ut ne participes sitis delictorum ejus, et de plagis ejus non accipiatis.(vulgate) וָאֶשְׁמַע קוֹל אַחֵר מִן־הַשָּׁמַיִם קֹרֵא צְאוּ מִתּוֹכָהּ עַמִּי פֶּן־תִּגְּעוּ בְחַטֹּאתֶיהָ וְדָבְקוּ בָכֶם תַּחֲלֻאֶיהָ׃ ד Revelation Rev 18:4 Und ich hörte eine andere Stimme vom Himmel, die sprach: Gehet aus von ihr, mein Volk, daß ihr nicht teilhaftig werdet ihrer Sünden, auf daß ihr nicht empfanget etwas von ihren Plagen!(dhs) Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:5 ============ Rev 18:5 for her sins have piled up as high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.(nas) Rev 18:5 ὅτι ἐκολλήθησαν αὐτῆς αἱ ἁμαρτίαι ἄχρι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἐμνημόνευσεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ ἀδικήματα αὐτῆς. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:5 Quoniam pervenerunt peccata ejus usque ad cælum, et recordatus est Dominus iniquitatum ejus.(vulgate) כִּי נָגְעוּ אֶל־הַשָּׁמַיִם חַטֹּאתֶיהָ וַיִּזְכֹּר אֱלֹהִים אֶת־עֲוֹנָהּ׃ ה Revelation Rev 18:5 Denn ihre Sünden reichen bis in den Himmel, und Gott denkt an ihren Frevel.(dhs) Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:6 ============ Rev 18:6 Pay her back even as she has paid, and give back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her.(nas) Rev 18:6 ἀπόδοτε αὐτῇ ὡς καὶ αὐτὴ ἀπέδωκεν, καὶ διπλώσατε τὰ διπλᾶ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτῆς· ἐν τῶ ποτηρίῳ ᾧ ἐκέρασεν κεράσατε αὐτῇ διπλοῦν· (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:6 Reddite illi sicut et ipsa reddidit vobis: et duplicate duplicia secundum opera ejus: in poculo, quo miscuit, miscete illi duplum.(vulgate) שַׁלְּמוּ־לָהּ גְּמוּלָהּ שֶׁגָּמְלָה לָכֶם עֲשׂוּ־לָהּ כִּפְלָיִם בְּמֶסֶךְ הַכּוֹס אֲשֶׁר מָסְכָה מִסְכוּ־לָהּ כִּפְלָיִם׃ ו Revelation Rev 18:6 Bezahlet sie, wie sie bezahlt hat, und macht's ihr zwiefältig nach ihren Werken; und in welchem Kelch sie eingeschenkt hat, schenkt ihr zwiefältig ein.(dhs) Rev 18:6 Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:7 ============ Rev 18:7 To the degree that she glorified herself and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, 'I SIT AS A QUEEN AND I AM NOT A WIDOW, and will never see mourning.'(nas) Rev 18:7 ὅσα ἐδόξασεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐστρηνίασεν, τοσοῦτον δότε αὐτῇ βασανισμὸν καὶ πένθος. ὅτι ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτῆς λέγει ὅτι κάθημαι βασίλισσα, καὶ χήρα οὐκ εἰμί, καὶ πένθος οὐ μὴ ἴδω· (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:7 Quantum glorificavit se, et in deliciis fuit, tantum date illi tormentum et luctum: quia in corde suo dicit: Sedeo regina: et vidua non sum, et luctum non videbo.(vulgate) כַּאֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה גְבִירָה וּמְעֻנָּגָה כֵּן הָבִיאוּ עָלֶיהָ מַדְוֶה וָאֵבֶל כִּי אָמְרָה בִלְבָבָהּ מַלְכָּה אֲנִי לְעוֹלָם לֹא אֵשֵׁב אַלְמָנָה וְלֹא אֵדַע שְׁכוֹל׃ ז Revelation Rev 18:7 Wieviel sie herrlich gemacht und ihren Mutwillen gehabt hat, so viel schenket ihr Qual und Leid ein! Denn sie spricht in ihrem Herzen: Ich sitze als Königin und bin keine Witwe, und Leid werde ich nicht sehen.(dhs) Rev 18:7 In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, 'I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.'(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:8 ============ Rev 18:8 For this reason in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong.(nas) Rev 18:8 διὰ τοῦτο ἐν μιᾷ ἡμέρᾳ ἥξουσιν αἱ πληγαὶ αὐτῆς, θάνατος καὶ πένθος καὶ λιμός, καὶ ἐν πυρὶ κατακαυθήσεται· ὅτι ἰσχυρὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ κρίνας αὐτήν. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:8 Ideo in una die venient plagæ ejus, mors, et luctus, et fames, et igne comburetur: quia fortis est Deus, qui judicabit illam.(vulgate) עַל־כֵּן תָּבֹאנָה לָּהּ בְּיוֹם אֶחָד כָּל־תַּחֲלֻאֶיהָ מָוֶת אֵבֶל וְרָעָב וְהָיְתָה לְמַאֲכֹלֶת אֵשׁ כִּי חָזָק יְהוָֹה אֱלֹהִים הַשֹּׁפֵט אֹתָהּ׃ ח Revelation Rev 18:8 Darum werden ihre Plagen auf einen Tag kommen: Tod, Leid und Hunger; mit Feuer wird sie verbrannt werden; denn stark ist Gott der HERR, der sie richten wird.(dhs) Rev 18:8 Therefore her plagues will come in one day--death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:9 ============ Rev 18:9 "And the kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and lived sensuously with her, will weep and lament over her when they see the smoke of her burning,(nas) Rev 18:9 καὶ κλαύσουσιν καὶ κόψονται ἐπ᾽ αὐτὴν οἱ βασιλεῖς τῆς γῆς οἱ μετ᾽ αὐτῆς πορνεύσαντες καὶ στρηνιάσαντες, ὅταν βλέπωσιν τὸν καπνὸν τῆς πυρώσεως αὐτῆς, (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:9 Et flebunt, et plangent se super illam reges terræ, qui cum illa fornicati sunt, et in deliciis vixerunt, cum viderint fumum incendii ejus:(vulgate) וּמַלְכֵי־אֶרֶץ אֲשֶׁר זָנוּ אֹתָהּ וְהִתְעַלְּסוּ עִמָּהּ בְּתַעֲנוּגִים יִבְכּוּ יִסְפְּדוּ לָהּ בִּרְאֹתָם אֶת־עֲשַׁן שְׂרֵפָתָהּ׃ ט Revelation Rev 18:9 Und es werden sie beweinen und sie beklagen die Könige auf Erden, die mit ihr gehurt und Mutwillen getrieben haben, wenn sie sehen werden den Rauch von ihrem Brand;(dhs) Rev 18:9 "The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning,(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:10 ============ Rev 18:10 standing at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment has come.'(nas) Rev 18:10 ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἑστηκότες διὰ τὸν φόβον τοῦ βασανισμοῦ αὐτῆς, λέγοντες, οὐαὶ οὐαί, ἡ πόλις ἡ μεγάλη, βαβυλὼν ἡ πόλις ἡ ἰσχυρά, ὅτι μιᾷ ὥρᾳ ἦλθεν ἡ κρίσις σου. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:10 longe stantes propter timorem tormentorum ejus, dicentes: Væ, væ civitas illa magna Babylon, civitas illa fortis: quoniam una hora venit judicium tuum.(vulgate) וּמִמָּגוֹר וְשֶׁבֶר מֵרָחוֹק יַעַמְדוּ וְקוֹנֵנוּ אוֹי־לָךְ אוֹי־לָךְ בָּבֶל עִיר רַבָּתִי עָם קִרְיָה נִשְׂגָּבָה בְּרֶגַע אֶחָד בָּא עָלַיִךְ מִשְׁפָּטֵךְ׃ י Revelation Rev 18:10 und werden von ferne stehen vor Furcht ihrer Qual und sprechen: Weh, weh, die große Stadt Babylon, die starke Stadt! In einer Stunde ist ihr Gericht gekommen.(dhs) Rev 18:10 standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.'(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:11 ============ Rev 18:11 "And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more--(nas) Rev 18:11 καὶ οἱ ἔμποροι τῆς γῆς κλαίουσιν καὶ πενθοῦσιν ἐπ᾽ αὐτήν, ὅτι τὸν γόμον αὐτῶν οὐδεὶς ἀγοράζει οὐκέτι, (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:11 Et negotiatores terræ flebunt, et lugebunt super illam: quoniam merces eorum nemo emet amplius:(vulgate) וּבָכוּ וְהִתְאַבְּלוּ עָלֶיהָ כְּנַעֲנֵי־אָרֶץ כִּי אֵין קֹנֶה עוֹד לְסַחְרָם׃ יא Revelation Rev 18:11 Und die Kaufleute auf Erden werden weinen und Leid tragen über sie, weil ihre Ware niemand mehr kaufen wird,(dhs) Rev 18:11 And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore:(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:12 ============ Rev 18:12 cargoes of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and bronze and iron and marble,(nas) Rev 18:12 γόμον χρυσοῦ καὶ ἀργύρου καὶ λίθου τιμίου καὶ μαργαριτῶν καὶ βυσσίνου καὶ πορφύρας καὶ σιρικοῦ καὶ κοκκίνου, καὶ πᾶν ξύλον θύϊνον καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ἐλεφάντινον καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ἐκ ξύλου τιμιωτάτου καὶ χαλκοῦ καὶ σιδήρου καὶ μαρμάρου, (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:12 merces auri, et argenti, et lapidis pretiosi, et margaritæ, et byssi, et purpuræ, et serici, et cocci (et omne lignum thyinum, et omnia vasa eboris, et omnia vasa de lapide pretioso, et æramento, et ferro, et marmore,(vulgate) סְחַר זָהָב וָכֶסֶף וְאֶבֶן יְקָרָה וּפְנִינִים שֵׁשׁ וְאַרְגָּמָן וּמֶשִׁי וְשָׁנִי כָּל־עֲצֵי בְשָׂמִים כְּלֵי שֶׁנְהַבִּים וּכְלֵי עֵצִים יְקָרִים נְחשֶׁת בַּרְזֶל וָשָׁיִשׁ׃ יב Revelation Rev 18:12 die Ware des Goldes und Silbers und Edelgesteins und die Perlen und köstliche Leinwand und Purpur und Seide und Scharlach und allerlei wohlriechendes Holz und allerlei Gefäß von Elfenbein und allerlei Gefäß von köstlichem Holz und von Erz und von Eisen und von Marmor,(dhs) Rev 18:12 merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble;(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:13 ============ Rev 18:13 and cinnamon and spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and slaves and human lives.(nas) Rev 18:13 καὶ κιννάμωμον καὶ ἄμωμον καὶ θυμιάματα καὶ μύρον καὶ λίβανον καὶ οἶνον καὶ ἔλαιον καὶ σεμίδαλιν καὶ σῖτον καὶ κτήνη καὶ πρόβατα, καὶ ἵππων καὶ ῥεδῶν καὶ σωμάτων, καὶ ψυχὰς ἀνθρώπων. (Nestle-Aland) Rev 18:13 et cinnamomum) et odoramentorum, et unguenti, et thuris, et vini, et olei, et similæ, et tritici, et jumentorum, et ovium, et equorum, et rhedarum, et mancipiorum, et animarum hominum.(vulgate) קִנְּמָן־בֶּשֶׂם וּקְטֹרֶת סַמִּים מֹר וּלְבוֹנָה יַיִן וְשֶׁמֶן סֹלֶת וְחִטִּים מִקְנֵה בָקָר וְצֹאן סוּס וְרֶכֶב עֶבֶד וְשִׁפְחָה׃ יג Revelation Rev 18:13 und Zimt und Räuchwerk und Salbe und Weihrauch und Wein und Öl und Semmelmehl und Weizen und Vieh und Schafe und Pferde und Wagen und Leiber und-Seelen der Menschen.(dhs) Rev 18:13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men.(nkjv) ======= Revelation 18:14 ============ Rev 18:14 The fruit you long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them.(nas) Rev 18:14 καὶ ἡ ὀπώρα σου τῆς ἐπιθυμίας τῆς ψυχῆς ἀπῆλθεν ἀπὸ σοῦ, καὶ πάντα τὰ λιπαρὰ καὶ τὰ λαμπρὰ ἀπώλετο ἀπὸ σοῦ, καὶ οὐκέτι οὐ μὴ αὐτὰ εὑρήσουσιν.
