So Isaac went to Gerar, to Abimelech king of the Philistines.(nas) Gen 26:1 ἐγένετο δὲ λιμὸς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς χωρὶς τοῦ λιμοῦ τοῦ πρότερον ὃς ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τῷ Αβρααμ ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ισαακ πρὸς Αβιμελεχ βασιλέα Φυλιστιιμ εἰς Γεραρα (lxx) Gen 26:1 Orta autem fame super terram post eam sterilitatem, quæ acciderat in diebus Abraham, abiit Isaac ad Abimelech regem Palæstinorum in Gerara.(vulgate) Genesis 26:1 And there was a famine in the lande besides the first famine that was in the dayes of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:2 ============ Gen 26:2 The Lord appeared to him and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; stay in the land of which I shall tell you.(nas) Gen 26:2 ὤφθη δὲ αὐτῷ κύριος καὶ εἶπεν μὴ καταβῇς εἰς Αἴγυπτον κατοίκησον δὲ ἐν τῇ γῇ ᾗ ἄν σοι εἴπω (lxx) Gen 26:2 Apparuitque ei Dominus, et ait: Ne descendas in Ægyptum, sed quiesce in terra quam dixero tibi,(vulgate) Genesis 26:2 For the Lord appeared vnto him, and sayde, Goe not downe into Egypt, but abide in the land which I shall shewe vnto thee.(Geneva) Gen 26:2 Da erschien ihm der HERR und sprach: Ziehe nicht hinab nach Ägypten, sondern bleibe in dem Lande, das ich dir sage.(dhs) Gen 26:2 Then the Lord appeared to him and said: "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:3 ============ Gen 26:3 Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.(nas) Gen 26:3 καὶ παροίκει ἐν τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ καὶ ἔσομαι μετὰ σοῦ καὶ εὐλογήσω σε σοὶ γὰρ καὶ τῷ σπέρματί σου δώσω πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ταύτην καὶ στήσω τὸν ὅρκον μου ὃν ὤμοσα Αβρααμ τῷ πατρί σου (lxx) Gen 26:3 et peregrinare in ea: eroque tecum, et benedicam tibi: tibi enim et semini tuo dabo universas regiones has, complens juramentum quod spopondi Abraham patri tuo.(vulgate) Genesis 26:3 Dwell in this lande, and I will be with thee, and will blesse thee: for to thee, and to thy seede I will giue all these countreys: and I will performe the othe which I sware vnto Abraham thy father.(Geneva) Gen 26:3 Sei ein Fremdling in diesem Lande, und ich will mit dir sein und dich segnen; denn dir und deinem Samen will ich alle diese Länder geben und will meinen Eid bestätigen, den ich deinem Vater Abraham geschworen habe,(dhs) Gen 26:3 Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:4 ============ Gen 26:4 I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;(nas) Gen 26:4 καὶ πληθυνῶ τὸ σπέρμα σου ὡς τοὺς ἀστέρας τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ δώσω τῷ σπέρματί σου πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν ταύτην καὶ ἐνευλογηθήσονται ἐν τῷ σπέρματί σου πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τῆς γῆς (lxx) Gen 26:4 Et multiplicabo semen tuum sicut stellas cæli: daboque posteris tuis universas regiones has: et benedicentur in semine tuo omnes gentes terræ,(vulgate) Genesis 26:4 Also I wil cause thy seede to multiply as the starres of heauen, and will giue vnto thy seede all these countreys: and in thy seede shall all the nanations of the earth be blessed,(Geneva) Gen 26:4 und will deinem Samen mehren wie die Sterne am Himmel und will deinem Samen alle diese Länder geben. Und durch deinen Samen sollen alle Völker auf Erden gesegnet werden,(dhs) Gen 26:4 And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed;(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:5 ============ Gen 26:5 because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws."(nas) Gen 26:5 ἀνθ᾽ ὧν ὑπήκουσεν Αβρααμ ὁ πατήρ σου τῆς ἐμῆς φωνῆς καὶ ἐφύλαξεν τὰ προστάγματά μου καὶ τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά μου καὶ τὰ νόμιμά μου (lxx) Gen 26:5 eo quod obedierit Abraham voci meæ, et custodierit præcepta et mandata mea, et cæremonias legesque servaverit.(vulgate) Genesis 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voyce and kept mine ordinance, my commandements, my statutes, and my Lawes.(Geneva) Gen 26:5 darum daß Abraham meiner Stimme gehorsam gewesen ist und hat gehalten meine Rechte, meine Gebote, meine Weise und mein Gesetz.(dhs) Gen 26:5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:6 ============ Gen 26:6 So Isaac lived in Gerar.(nas) Gen 26:6 καὶ κατῴκησεν Ισαακ ἐν Γεραροις (lxx) Gen 26:6 Mansit itaque Isaac in Geraris.~(vulgate) Genesis 26:6 So Izhak dwelt in Gerar.(Geneva) Gen 26:6 Also wohnte Isaak zu Gerar.(dhs) Gen 26:6 So Isaac dwelt in Gerar.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:7 ============ Gen 26:7 When the men of the place asked about his wife, he said, "She is my sister," for he was afraid to say, "my wife," thinking, "the men of the place might kill me on account of Rebekah, for she is beautiful."(nas) Gen 26:7 ἐπηρώτησαν δὲ οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου περὶ Ρεβεκκας τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν ἐφοβήθη γὰρ εἰπεῖν ὅτι γυνή μού ἐστιν μήποτε ἀποκτείνωσιν αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου περὶ Ρεβεκκας ὅτι ὡραία τῇ ὄψει ἦν (lxx) Gen 26:7 Qui cum interrogaretur a viris loci illius super uxore sua, respondit: Soror mea est: timuerat enim confiteri quod sibi esset sociata conjugio, reputans ne forte interficerent eum propter illius pulchritudinem.(vulgate) Genesis 26:7 And the men of the place asked him of his wife, and he sayd, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife, least, sayde he, the men of the place shoulde kill me, because of Rebekah: for she was beautifull to the eye.(Geneva) Gen 26:7 Und wenn die Leute an demselben Ort fragten nach seinem Weibe, so sprach er: Sie ist meine Schwester. Denn er fürchtete sich zu sagen: Sie ist mein Weib; sie möchten mich erwürgen um Rebekkas willen, denn sie war schön von Angesicht.(dhs) Gen 26:7 And the men of the place asked about his wife. And he said, "She is my sister"; for he was afraid to say, "She is my wife," because he thought, "lest the men of the place kill me for Rebekah, because she is beautiful to behold."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:8 ============ Gen 26:8 It came about, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out through a window, and saw, and behold, Isaac was caressing his wife Rebekah.(nas) Gen 26:8 ἐγένετο δὲ πολυχρόνιος ἐκεῖ παρακύψας δὲ Αβιμελεχ ὁ βασιλεὺς Γεραρων διὰ τῆς θυρίδος εἶδεν τὸν Ισαακ παίζοντα μετὰ Ρεβεκκας τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 26:8 Cumque pertransissent dies plurimi, et ibidem moraretur, prospiciens Abimelech rex Palæstinorum per fenestram, vidit eum jocantem cum Rebecca uxore sua.(vulgate) Genesis 26:8 So after hee had bene there long time, Abimelech King of the Philistims looked out at a windowe, and loe, he sawe Izhak sporting with Rebekah his wife.(Geneva) Gen 26:8 Als er nun eine Zeitlang da war, sah Abimelech, der Philister König, durchs Fenster und ward gewahr, daß Isaak scherzte mit seinem Weibe Rebekka.(dhs) Gen 26:8 Now it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked through a window, and saw, and there was Isaac, showing endearment to Rebekah his wife.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:9 ============ Gen 26:9 Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Behold, certainly she is your wife! How then did you say, 'She is my sister'?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I said, 'I might die on account of her.'"(nas) Gen 26:9 ἐκάλεσεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ τὸν Ισαακ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἄρα γε γυνή σού ἐστιν τί ὅτι εἶπας ἀδελφή μού ἐστιν εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ισαακ εἶπα γάρ μήποτε ἀποθάνω δι᾽ αὐτήν (lxx) Gen 26:9 Et accersito eo, ait: Perspicuum est quod uxor tua sit: cur mentitus es eam sororem tuam esse? Respondit: Timui ne morerer propter eam.(vulgate) Genesis 26:9 Then Abimelech called Izhak, and sayde, Loe, shee is of a suertie thy wife, and why saydest thou, She is my sister? To whom Izhak answered, Because I thought this, It may be that I shall dye for her.(Geneva) Gen 26:9 Da rief Abimelech den Isaak und sprach: Siehe, es ist dein Weib. Wie hast du denn gesagt: Sie ist meine Schwester? Isaak antwortete ihm: Ich gedachte, ich möchte vielleicht sterben müssen um ihretwillen.(dhs) Gen 26:9 Then Abimelech called Isaac and said, "Quite obviously she is your wife; so how could you say, 'She is my sister'?" And Isaac said to him, "Because I said, 'Lest I die on account of her.' "(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:10 ============ Gen 26:10 Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the people might easily have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us."(nas) Gen 26:10 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Αβιμελεχ τί τοῦτο ἐποίησας ἡμῖν μικροῦ ἐκοιμήθη τις τοῦ γένους μου μετὰ τῆς γυναικός σου καὶ ἐπήγαγες ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς ἄγνοιαν (lxx) Gen 26:10 Dixitque Abimelech: Quare imposuisti nobis? potuit coire quispiam de populo cum uxore tua, et induxeras super nos grande peccatum. Præcepitque omni populo, dicens:(vulgate) Genesis 26:10 Then Abimelech said, Why hast thou done this vnto vs? one of the people had almost lien by thy wife, so shouldest thou haue brought sinne vpon vs.(Geneva) Gen 26:10 Abimelech sprach: Warum hast du das getan? Es wäre leicht geschehen, daß jemand vom Volk sich zu deinem Weibe gelegt hätte, und hättest also eine Schuld auf uns gebracht.(dhs) Gen 26:10 And Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the people might soon have lain with your wife, and you would have brought guilt on us."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:11 ============ Gen 26:11 So Abimelech charged all the people, saying, "He who touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."(nas) Gen 26:11 συνέταξεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ λέγων πᾶς ὁ ἁπτόμενος τοῦ ἀνθρώπου τούτου ἢ τῆς γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ θανάτου ἔνοχος ἔσται (lxx) Gen 26:11 Qui tetigerit hominis hujus uxorem, morte morietur.~(vulgate) Genesis 26:11 Then Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man, or his wife, shal die the death.(Geneva) Gen 26:11 Da gebot Abimelech allem Volk und sprach: Wer diesen Mann oder sein Weib antastet, der soll des Todes sterben.(dhs) Gen 26:11 So Abimelech charged all his people, saying, "He who touches this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:12 ============ Gen 26:12 Now Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the Lord blessed him,(nas) Gen 26:12 ἔσπειρεν δὲ Ισαακ ἐν τῇ γῇ ἐκείνῃ καὶ εὗρεν ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἐκείνῳ ἑκατοστεύουσαν κριθήν εὐλόγησεν δὲ αὐτὸν κύριος (lxx) Gen 26:12 Sevit autem Isaac in terra illa, et invenit in ipso anno centuplum: benedixitque ei Dominus.(vulgate) Genesis 26:12 Afterwarde Izhak sowed in that lande, and founde in the same yeere an hundreth folde by estimation: and so the Lord blessed him.(Geneva) Gen 26:12 Und Isaak säte in dem Lande und erntete desselben Jahres hundertfältig; denn der HERR segnete ihn.(dhs) Gen 26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:13 ============ Gen 26:13 and the man became rich, and continued to grow richer until he became very wealthy;(nas) Gen 26:13 καὶ ὑψώθη ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ προβαίνων μείζων ἐγίνετο ἕως οὗ μέγας ἐγένετο σφόδρα (lxx) Gen 26:13 Et locupletatus est homo, et ibat proficiens atque succrescens, donec magnus vehementer effectus est:(vulgate) Genesis 26:13 And the man waxed mightie, and stil increased, till he was exceeding great,(Geneva) Gen 26:13 Und er ward ein großer Mann und nahm immer mehr zu, bis er sehr groß ward,(dhs) Gen 26:13 The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous;(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:14 ============ Gen 26:14 for he had possessions of flocks and herds and a great household, so that the Philistines envied him.(nas) Gen 26:14 ἐγένετο δὲ αὐτῷ κτήνη προβάτων καὶ κτήνη βοῶν καὶ γεώργια πολλά ἐζήλωσαν δὲ αὐτὸν οἱ Φυλιστιιμ (lxx) Gen 26:14 habuit quoque possessiones ovium et armentorum, et familiæ plurimum. Ob hoc invidentes ei Palæstini,(vulgate) Genesis 26:14 For he had flockes of sheepe, and heards of cattell, and a mightie housholde: therefore the Philistims had enuy at him.(Geneva) Gen 26:14 daß er viel Gut hatte an kleinem und großem Vieh und ein großes Gesinde. Darum beneideten ihn die Philister(dhs) Gen 26:14 for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:15 ============ Gen 26:15 Now all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines stopped up by filling them with earth.(nas) Gen 26:15 καὶ πάντα τὰ φρέατα ἃ ὤρυξαν οἱ παῖδες τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ χρόνῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐνέφραξαν αὐτὰ οἱ Φυλιστιιμ καὶ ἔπλησαν αὐτὰ γῆς (lxx) Gen 26:15 omnes puteos, quos foderant servi patris illius Abraham, illo tempore obstruxerunt, implentes humo:(vulgate) Genesis 26:15 In so much that the Philistims stopped and filled vp with earth all the welles, which his fathers seruantes digged in his father Abrahams time.(Geneva) Gen 26:15 und verstopften alle Brunnen, die seines Vaters Knechte gegraben hatten zur Zeit Abrahams, seines Vaters, und füllten sie mit Erde;(dhs) Gen 26:15 Now the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:16 ============ Gen 26:16 Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Go away from us, for you are too powerful for us."(nas) Gen 26:16 εἶπεν δὲ Αβιμελεχ πρὸς Ισαακ ἄπελθε ἀφ᾽ ἡμῶν ὅτι δυνατώτερος ἡμῶν ἐγένου σφόδρα (lxx) Gen 26:16 in tantum, ut ipse Abimelech diceret ad Isaac: Recede a nobis, quoniam potentior nobis factus es valde.(vulgate) Genesis 26:16 Then Abimelech sayde vnto Izhak, Get thee from vs, for thou art mightier then wee a great deale.(Geneva) Gen 26:16 daß auch Abimelech zu ihm sprach: Ziehe von uns, denn du bist uns zu mächtig geworden.(dhs) Gen 26:16 And Abimelech said to Isaac, "Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:17 ============ Gen 26:17 And Isaac departed from there and camped in the valley of Gerar, and settled there. (nas) Gen 26:17 καὶ ἀπῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν Ισαακ καὶ κατέλυσεν ἐν τῇ φάραγγι Γεραρων καὶ κατῴκησεν ἐκεῖ (lxx) Gen 26:17 Et ille discedens, ut veniret ad torrentem Geraræ, habitaretque ibi,(vulgate) Genesis 26:17 Therefore Izhak departed thence and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.(Geneva) Gen 26:17 Da zog Isaak von dannen und schlug sein Gezelt auf im Grunde Gerar und wohnte allda(dhs) Gen 26:17 Then Isaac departed from there and pitched his tent in the Valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:18 ============ Gen 26:18 Then Isaac dug again the wells of water which had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham; and he gave them the same names which his father had given them.(nas) Gen 26:18 καὶ πάλιν Ισαακ ὤρυξεν τὰ φρέατα τοῦ ὕδατος ἃ ὤρυξαν οἱ παῖδες Αβρααμ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐνέφραξαν αὐτὰ οἱ Φυλιστιιμ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν Αβρααμ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν αὐτοῖς ὀνόματα κατὰ τὰ ὀνόματα ἃ ἐπωνόμασεν Αβρααμ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Gen 26:18 rursum fodit alios puteos, quos foderant servi patris sui Abraham, et quos, illo mortuo, olim obstruxerant Philisthiim: appellavitque eos eisdem nominibus quibus ante pater vocaverat.(vulgate) Genesis 26:18 And Izhak returning, digged the welles of water, which they had digged in the dayes of Abraham his father: for the Philistims had stopped them after the death of Abraham, and hee gaue them the same names, which his father gaue them.(Geneva) Gen 26:18 und ließ die Wasserbrunnen wieder aufgraben, die sie zu Abrahams, seines Vaters, Zeiten gegraben hatten, welche die Philister verstopft hatten nach Abrahams Tod, und nannte sie mit demselben Namen mit denen sie sein Vater genannt hatte.(dhs) Gen 26:18 And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names which his father had called them.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:19 ============ Gen 26:19 But when Isaac's servants dug in the valley and found there a well of flowing water,(nas) Gen 26:19 καὶ ὤρυξαν οἱ παῖδες Ισαακ ἐν τῇ φάραγγι Γεραρων καὶ εὗρον ἐκεῖ φρέαρ ὕδατος ζῶντος (lxx) Gen 26:19 Foderuntque in torrente, et repererunt aquam vivam.(vulgate) Genesis 26:19 Izhaks seruantes then digged in the valley, and found there a well of liuing water.(Geneva) Gen 26:19 Auch gruben Isaaks Knechte im Grunde und fanden daselbst einen Brunnen lebendigen Wassers.(dhs) Gen 26:19 Also Isaac's servants dug in the valley, and found a well of running water there.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:20 ============ Gen 26:20 the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with the herdsmen of Isaac, saying, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, because they contended with him.(nas) Gen 26:20 καὶ ἐμαχέσαντο οἱ ποιμένες Γεραρων μετὰ τῶν ποιμένων Ισαακ φάσκοντες αὐτῶν εἶναι τὸ ὕδωρ καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ φρέατος Ἀδικία ἠδίκησαν γὰρ αὐτόν (lxx) Gen 26:20 Sed et ibi jurgium fuit pastorum Geraræ adversus pastores Isaac, dicentium: Nostra est aqua, quam ob rem nomen putei ex eo, quod acciderat, vocavit Calumniam.(vulgate) Genesis 26:20 But the herdmen of Gerar did striue with Izhaks herdmen, saying, The water is ours: therefore called he the name of the wel Esek, because they were at strife with him.(Geneva) Gen 26:20 Aber die Hirten von Gerar zankten mit den Hirten Isaaks und sprachen: Das Wasser ist unser. Da hieß er den Brunnen Esek, darum daß sie ihm unrecht getan hatten.(dhs) Gen 26:20 But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen, saying, "The water is ours." So he called the name of the well Esek, because they quarreled with him.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 26:21 ============ Gen 26:21 Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over it too, so he named it Sitnah.(nas) Gen 26:21 ἀπάρας δὲ Ισαακ ἐκεῖθεν ὤρυξεν φρέαρ ἕτερον ἐκρίνοντο δὲ καὶ περὶ ἐκείνου καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἐχθρία (lxx) Gen 26:21 Foderunt autem et alium: et pro illo quoque rixati sunt, appellavitque eum Inimicitias.(vulgate) Genesis 26:21 Afterwarde they digged another well, and stroue for that also, and he called the name of it Sitnah.(Geneva) Gen 26:21 Da gruben sie einen andern Brunnen. Darüber zankten sie auch, darum hieß er ihn Sitna.(dhs) Gen 26:21 Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over that one also.
