Today's Date: ======= Judges 18:1 ============ Jdg 18:1 In those days there was no king of Israel; and in those days the tribe of the Danites was seeking an inheritance for themselves to live in, for until that day an inheritance had not been allotted to them as a possession among the tribes of Israel.(nas) Jdg 18:1 ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις οὐκ ἦν βασιλεὺς ἐν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις ἡ φυλὴ Δαν ἐζήτει αὑτῇ κληρονομίαν κατοικῆσαι ὅτι οὐκ ἐνέπεσεν αὐτῇ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης ἐν μέσῳ φυλῶν Ισραηλ κληρονομία (lxx) Jdg 18:1 In diebus illis non erat rex in Israël, et tribus Dan quærebat possessionem sibi, ut habitaret in ea: usque ad illum enim diem inter ceteras tribus sortem non acceperat.(vulgate) Judges 18:1 In those dayes there was no King in Israel, and at the same time the tribe of Dan sought them an inheritance to dwell in: for vnto that time all their inheritance had not fallen vnto them among the tribes of Israel.(Geneva) Jdg 18:1 Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel. And in those days the tribe of the Danites was seeking an inheritance for itself to dwell in; for until that day their inheritance among the tribes of Israel had not fallen to them.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:2 ============ Jdg 18:2 So the sons of Dan sent from their family five men out of their whole number, valiant men from Zorah and Eshtaol, to spy out the land and to search it; and they said to them, "Go, search the land." And they came to the hill country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodged there.(nas) Jdg 18:2 καὶ ἀπέστειλαν οἱ υἱοὶ Δαν ἀπὸ δήμων αὐτῶν πέντε ἄνδρας υἱοὺς δυνάμεως ἀπὸ Σαραα καὶ ἀπὸ Εσθαολ τοῦ κατασκέψασθαι τὴν γῆν καὶ ἐξιχνιάσαι αὐτὴν καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς αὐτούς πορεύεσθε καὶ ἐξιχνιάσατε τὴν γῆν καὶ ἦλθον ἕως ὄρους Εφραιμ ἕως οἴκου Μιχαια καὶ ηὐλίσθησαν ἐκεῖ (lxx) Jdg 18:2 Miserunt ergo filii Dan stirpis et familiæ suæ quinque viros fortissimos de Saraa et Esthaol, ut explorarent terram, et diligenter inspicerent: dixeruntque eis: Ite, et considerate terram. Qui cum pergentes venissent in montem Ephraim, et intrassent domum Michæ, requieverunt ibi:(vulgate) Judges 18:2 Therefore the children of Dan sent of their familie, fiue men out of their coastes, euen men expert in warre, out of Zorah and Eshtaol, to viewe the lande and search it out, and saide vnto them, Goe, and search out the lande. Then they came to mount Ephraim to the house of Michah and lodged there.(Geneva) Jdg 18:2 Und die Kinder Dan sandten aus ihren Geschlechtern von ihren Enden fünf streitbare Männer von Zora und Esthaol, das Land zu erkunden und zu erforschen, und sprachen zu ihnen: Ziehet hin und erforschet das Land. Und sie kamen auf das Gebirge Ephraim ans Haus Michas und blieben über Nacht daselbst.(dhs) Jdg 18:2 So the children of Dan sent five men of their family from their territory, men of valor from Zorah and Eshtaol, to spy out the land and search it. They said to them, "Go, search the land." So they went to the mountains of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, and lodged there.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:3 ============ Jdg 18:3 When they were near the house of Micah, they recognized the voice of the young man, the Levite; and they turned aside there and said to him, "Who brought you here? And what are you doing in this place? And what do you have here?"(nas) Jdg 18:3 αὐτοὶ ἐν οἴκῳ Μιχαια καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐπέγνωσαν τὴν φωνὴν τοῦ νεανίσκου τοῦ Λευίτου καὶ ἐξέκλιναν ἐκεῖ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ τίς ἤνεγκέν σε ὧδε καὶ τί σὺ ποιεῖς ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τούτῳ καὶ τί σοι ὧδε (lxx) Jdg 18:3 et agnoscentes vocem adolescentis Levitæ, utentesque illius diversorio, dixerunt ad eum: Quis te huc adducit? quid hic agis? quam ob causam huc venire voluisti?(vulgate) Judges 18:3 When they were in the house of Michah, they knewe the voyce of the yong man the Leuite: and being turned in thither, they saide vnto him, Who brought thee hither? Or what makest thou in this place? And what hast thou to doe here?(Geneva) Jdg 18:3 Und da sie bei dem Gesinde Michas waren, erkannten sie die Stimme des Jünglings, des Leviten; und sie wichen von ihrem Weg dahin und sprachen zu ihm: Wer hat dich hierhergebracht? Was machst du da? Und was hast du hier?(dhs) Jdg 18:3 While they were at the house of Micah, they recognized the voice of the young Levite. They turned aside and said to him, "Who brought you here? What are you doing in this place? What do you have here?"(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:4 ============ Jdg 18:4 He said to them, "Thus and so has Micah done to me, and he has hired me and I have become his priest."(nas) Jdg 18:4 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς οὕτως καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησέν μοι Μιχαιας καὶ ἐμισθώσατό με καὶ ἐγενόμην αὐτῷ εἰς ἱερέα (lxx) Jdg 18:4 Qui respondit eis: Hæc et hæc præstitit mihi Michas, et me mercede conduxit, ut sim ei sacerdos.(vulgate) Judges 18:4 And he answered them, Thus and thus dealeth Michah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his Priest.(Geneva) Jdg 18:4 Er antwortete ihnen: So und so hat Micha an mir getan und hat mich gedingt, daß ich sein Priester sei.(dhs) Jdg 18:4 He said to them, "Thus and so Micah did for me. He has hired me, and I have become his priest."(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:5 ============ Jdg 18:5 They said to him, "Inquire of God, please, that we may know whether our way on which we are going will be prosperous."(nas) Jdg 18:5 καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ ἐρώτησον δὴ ἐν τῷ θεῷ καὶ γνωσόμεθα εἰ εὐοδωθήσεται ἡ ὁδὸς ἡμῶν ἐν ᾗ ἡμεῖς πορευόμεθα ἐν αὐτῇ (lxx) Jdg 18:5 Rogaverunt autem eum ut consuleret Dominum ut scire possent an prospero itinere pergerent, et res haberet effectum.(vulgate) Judges 18:5 Againe they said vnto him, Aske counsell nowe of God, that we may knowe whether the way which we goe, shalbe prosperous.(Geneva) Jdg 18:5 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Frage doch Gott, daß wir erfahren, ob unser Weg, den wir wandeln, auch wohl geraten werde.(dhs) Jdg 18:5 So they said to him, "Please inquire of God, that we may know whether the journey on which we go will be prosperous."(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:6 ============ Jdg 18:6 The priest said to them, "Go in peace; your way in which you are going has the Lord's approval."(nas) Jdg 18:6 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἱερεύς πορεύεσθε ἐν εἰρήνῃ ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἡ ὁδὸς ὑμῶν ἐν ᾗ πορεύεσθε ἐν αὐτῇ (lxx) Jdg 18:6 Qui respondit eis: Ite in pace: Dominus respicit viam vestram, et iter quo pergitis.(vulgate) Judges 18:6 And the Priest sayde vnto them, Goe in peace: for the Lorde guideth your way which ye goe.(Geneva) Jdg 18:6 Der Priester antwortete ihnen: Ziehet hin mit Frieden; euer Weg, den ihr ziehet, ist recht vor dem HERRN.(dhs) Jdg 18:6 And the priest said to them, "Go in peace. The presence of the Lord be with you on your way."(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:7 ============ Jdg 18:7 Then the five men departed and came to Laish and saw the people who were in it living in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure; for there was no ruler humiliating them for anything in the land, and they were far from the Sidonians and had no dealings with anyone.(nas) Jdg 18:7 καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν οἱ πέντε ἄνδρες καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Λαισα καὶ εἶδαν τὸν λαὸν τὸν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς καθήμενον ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι ὡς κρίσις Σιδωνίων ἡσυχάζουσα καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν διατρέπων ἢ καταισχύνων λόγον ἐν τῇ γῇ κληρονόμος ἐκπιέζων θησαυροῦ καὶ μακράν εἰσιν Σιδωνίων καὶ λόγον οὐκ ἔχουσιν πρὸς ἄνθρωπον (lxx) Jdg 18:7 Euntes igitur quinque viri venerunt Lais: videruntque populum habitantem in ea absque ullo timore, juxta consuetudinem Sidoniorum, securum et quietum, nullo ei penitus resistente, magnarumque opum, et procul a Sidone atque a cunctis hominibus separatum.~(vulgate) Judges 18:7 Then the fiue men departed and came to Laish, and sawe the people that were therein, which dwelt carelesse, after the maner of the Zidonians, quiet and sure, because no man made any trouble in the lande, or vsurped any dominion: also they were farre from the Zidonians, and had no businesse with other men.(Geneva) Jdg 18:7 Da gingen die fünf Männer hin und kamen gen Lais und sahen das Volk, das darin war, sicher wohnen auf die Weise wie die Sidonier, still und sicher; und war niemand, der ihnen Leid täte im Land oder Herr über sie wäre, und waren ferne von den Sidoniern und hatten nichts mit Leuten zu tun.(dhs) Jdg 18:7 So the five men departed and went to Laish. They saw the people who were there, how they dwelt safely, in the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and secure. There were no rulers in the land who might put them to shame for anything. They were far from the Sidonians, and they had no ties with anyone.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:8 ============ Jdg 18:8 When they came back to their brothers at Zorah and Eshtaol, their brothers said to them, "What do you report?"(nas) Jdg 18:8 καὶ ἦλθον οἱ πέντε ἄνδρες πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῶν εἰς Σαραα καὶ Εσθαολ καὶ εἶπον τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτῶν τί ὑμεῖς κάθησθε (lxx) Jdg 18:8 Reversique ad fratres suos in Saraa et Esthaol, et quid egissent sciscitantibus responderunt:(vulgate) Judges 18:8 So they came againe vnto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren saide vnto them, What haue ye done?(Geneva) Jdg 18:8 Und sie kamen zu ihren Brüdern gen Zora und Esthaol; und ihre Brüder sprachen zu ihnen: Wie steht's mit euch?(dhs) Jdg 18:8 Then the spies came back to their brethren at Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brethren said to them, "What is your report?"(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:9 ============ Jdg 18:9 They said, "Arise, and let us go up against them; for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good. And will you sit still? Do not delay to go, to enter, to possess the land.(nas) Jdg 18:9 καὶ εἶπαν ἀνάστητε καὶ ἀναβῶμεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς ὅτι εἴδομεν τὴν γῆν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀγαθὴ σφόδρα καὶ ὑμεῖς ἡσυχάζετε μὴ ὀκνήσητε τοῦ πορευθῆναι καὶ εἰσελθεῖν τοῦ κληρονομῆσαι τὴν γῆν (lxx) Jdg 18:9 Surgite, ascendamus ad eos: vidimus enim terram valde opulentam et uberem. Nolite negligere, nolite cessare: eamus, et possideamus eam: nullus erit labor.(vulgate) Judges 18:9 And they answered, Arise, that we may goe vp against them: for we haue seene the lande, & surely it is very good, and doe ye sit stil? Be not slouthfull to goe and enter to possesse the lande:(Geneva) Jdg 18:9 Sie sprachen: Auf, laßt uns zu ihnen hinaufziehen! denn wir haben das Land besehen, das ist sehr gut. Darum eilt und seid nicht faul zu ziehen, daß ihr kommt, das Land einzunehmen.(dhs) Jdg 18:9 So they said, "Arise, let us go up against them. For we have seen the land, and indeed it is very good. Would you do nothing? Do not hesitate to go, and enter to possess the land.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:10 ============ Jdg 18:10 When you enter, you will come to a secure people with a spacious land; for God has given it into your hand, a place where there is no lack of anything that is on the earth."(nas) Jdg 18:10 καὶ ἡνίκα ἂν ἔλθητε εἰσελεύσεσθε πρὸς λαὸν ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι καὶ ἡ γῆ πλατεῖα ὅτι ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν ὁ θεὸς ἐν χειρὶ ὑμῶν τόπος ὅπου οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκεῖ ὑστέρημα παντὸς ῥήματος τῶν ἐν τῇ γῇ (lxx) Jdg 18:10 Intrabimus ad securos, in regionem latissimam, tradetque nobis Dominus locum, in quo nullius rei est penuria eorum quæ gignuntur in terra.(vulgate) Judges 18:10 (If ye will goe, ye shall come vnto a carelesse people, and the countrey is large) for God hath giuen it into your hande. It is a place which doeth lacke nothing that is in the worlde.(Geneva) Jdg 18:10 Wenn ihr kommt, werdet ihr zu einem sichern Volke kommen, und das Land ist weit und breit; denn Gott hat's in eure Hände gegeben, einen solchen Ort, da nichts gebricht an alle dem, was auf Erden ist.(dhs) Jdg 18:10 When you go, you will come to a secure people and a large land. For God has given it into your hands, a place where there is no lack of anything that is on the earth."(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:11 ============ Jdg 18:11 Then from the family of the Danites, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, six hundred men armed with weapons of war set out.(nas) Jdg 18:11 καὶ ἀπῆραν ἐκεῖθεν ἀπὸ δήμων τοῦ Δαν ἀπὸ Σαραα καὶ ἀπὸ Εσθαολ ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες ἐζωσμένοι σκεύη παρατάξεως (lxx) Jdg 18:11 Profecti igitur sunt de cognatione Dan, id est, de Saraa et Esthaol, sexcenti viri accincti armis bellicis,(vulgate) Judges 18:11 Then there departed thence of the familie of the Danites, from Zorah and from Eshtaol, sixe hundreth men appointed with instruments of warre.(Geneva) Jdg 18:11 Da zogen von da aus den Geschlechtern Dan von Zora und Esthaol sechshundert Mann, gerüstet mit ihren Waffen zum Streit,(dhs) Jdg 18:11 And six hundred men of the family of the Danites went from there, from Zorah and Eshtaol, armed with weapons of war.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:12 ============ Jdg 18:12 They went up and camped at Kiriath-jearim in Judah. Therefore they called that place Mahaneh-dan to this day; behold, it is west of Kiriath-jearim.(nas) Jdg 18:12 καὶ ἀνέβησαν καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν Καριαθιαριμ ἐν Ιουδα διὰ τοῦτο ἐκλήθη ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῷ τόπῳ παρεμβολὴ Δαν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης ἰδοὺ ὀπίσω Καριαθιαριμ (lxx) Jdg 18:12 ascendentesque manserunt in Cariathiarim Judæ: qui locus ex eo tempore Castrorum Dan nomen accepit, et est post tergum Cariathiarim.(vulgate) Judges 18:12 And they went vp, and pitched in Kiriath-iearim in Iudah: wherefore they called that place, Mahaneh-Dan vnto this day: and it is behinde Kiriath-iearim.(Geneva) Jdg 18:12 und zogen hinauf und lagerten sich zu Kirjath-Jearim in Juda. (Therefore they call that place Mahaneh Dan to this day. There it is, west of Kirjath Jearim.)(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:13 ============ Jdg 18:13 They passed from there to the hill country of Ephraim and came to the house of Micah. (nas) Jdg 18:13 καὶ παρῆλθον ἐκεῖθεν ὄρος Εφραιμ καὶ ἦλθον ἕως οἴκου Μιχαια (lxx) Jdg 18:13 Inde transierunt in montem Ephraim. Now therefore, consider what you should do."(nas) Jdg 18:14 καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ πέντε ἄνδρες οἱ πεπορευμένοι κατασκέψασθαι τὴν γῆν Λαισα καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτῶν ἔγνωτε ὅτι ἔστιν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ εφωδ καὶ θεραφιν καὶ γλυπτὸν καὶ χωνευτόν καὶ νῦν γνῶτε ὅ τι ποιήσετε (lxx) Jdg 18:14 dixerunt quinque viri, qui prius missi fuerant ad considerandam terram Lais, ceteris fratribus suis: Nostis quod in domibus istis sit ephod, et theraphim, et sculptile, atque conflatile: videte quid vobis placeat.~(vulgate) Judges 18:14 Then answered the fiue men, that went to spie out the countrey of Laish, & said vnto their brethren, Knowe ye not, that there is in these houses an Ephod, and Teraphim, and a grauen & a molten image? Nowe therefore consider what ye haue to doe.(Geneva) Jdg 18:14 Da antworteten die fünf Männer, die ausgegangen waren, das Land Lais zu erkunden, und sprachen zu ihren Brüdern: Wißt ihr auch, daß in diesen Häusern ein Leibrock, Hausgötzen, Bildnis und Abgott sind? Nun möget ihr denken, was euch zu tun ist.(dhs) Jdg 18:14 Then the five men who had gone to spy out the country of Laish answered and said to their brethren, "Do you know that there are in these houses an ephod, household idols, a carved image, and a molded image? Now therefore, consider what you should do."(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:15 ============ Jdg 18:15 They turned aside there and came to the house of the young man, the Levite, to the house of Micah, and asked him of his welfare.(nas) Jdg 18:15 καὶ ἐξέκλιναν ἐκεῖ καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ νεανίσκου τοῦ Λευίτου οἶκον Μιχαια καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν εἰς εἰρήνην (lxx) Jdg 18:15 Et cum paululum declinassent, ingressi sunt domum adolescentis Levitæ, qui erat in domo Michæ: salutaveruntque eum verbis pacificis.(vulgate) Judges 18:15 And they turned thitherward & came to the house of the yong man the Leuite, euen vnto the house of Michah, and saluted him peaceably.(Geneva) Jdg 18:15 Sie kehrten da ein und kamen an das Haus des Jünglings, des Leviten, in Michas Haus und grüßten ihn freundlich.(dhs) Jdg 18:15 So they turned aside there, and came to the house of the young Levite man--to the house of Micah--and greeted him.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:16 ============ Jdg 18:16 The six hundred men armed with their weapons of war, who were of the sons of Dan, stood by the entrance of the gate.(nas) Jdg 18:16 καὶ οἱ ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες οἱ ἀνεζωσμένοι τὰ σκεύη τῆς παρατάξεως αὐτῶν ἑστῶτες παρὰ θύρας τῆς πύλης οἱ ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Δαν (lxx) Jdg 18:16 Sexcenti autem viri ita ut erant armati, stabant ante ostium.(vulgate) Judges 18:16 And the six hundreth men appointed with their weapons of warre, which were of the children of Dan, stoode by the entring of the gate.(Geneva) Jdg 18:16 Aber die sechshundert Gerüsteten mit ihren Waffen, die von den Kindern Dan waren, standen vor dem Tor.(dhs) Jdg 18:16 The six hundred men armed with their weapons of war, who were of the children of Dan, stood by the entrance of the gate.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:17 ============ Jdg 18:17 Now the five men who went to spy out the land went up and entered there, and took the graven image and the ephod and household idols and the molten image, while the priest stood by the entrance of the gate with the six hundred men armed with weapons of war.(nas) Jdg 18:17 καὶ ἀνέβησαν οἱ πέντε ἄνδρες οἱ πορευθέντες κατασκέψασθαι τὴν γῆν (lxx) Jdg 18:17 At illi, qui ingressi fuerant domum juvenis, sculptile, et ephod, et theraphim, atque conflatile tollere nitebantur, et sacerdos stabat ante ostium, sexcentis viris fortissimis haud procul expectantibus.(vulgate) Judges 18:17 Then the fiue men that went to spie out the land, went in thither, and tooke the grauen image and the Ephod, and the Teraphim, and the molten image: and the Priest stoode in the entring of the gate with the sixe hundreth men, that were appointed with weapons of warre,(Geneva) Jdg 18:17 Und die fünf Männer, die das Land zu erkunden ausgezogen waren, gingen hinauf und kamen dahin und nahmen das Bild, den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und den Abgott. Dieweil stand der Priester vor dem Tor bei den sechshundert Gerüsteten mit ihren Waffen.(dhs) Jdg 18:17 Then the five men who had gone to spy out the land went up. Entering there, they took the carved image, the ephod, the household idols, and the molded image. The priest stood at the entrance of the gate with the six hundred men who were armed with weapons of war.(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:18 ============ Jdg 18:18 When these went into Micah's house and took the graven image, the ephod and household idols and the molten image, the priest said to them, "What are you doing?"(nas) Jdg 18:18 καὶ εἰσῆλθον ἐκεῖ εἰς οἶκον Μιχαια καὶ ὁ ἱερεὺς ἑστώς καὶ ἔλαβον τὸ γλυπτὸν καὶ τὸ εφωδ καὶ τὸ θεραφιν καὶ τὸ χωνευτόν καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὁ ἱερεύς τί ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε (lxx) Jdg 18:18 Tulerunt igitur qui intraverant sculptile, ephod, et idola, atque conflatile. Quibus dixit sacerdos: Quid facitis?(vulgate) Judges 18:18 And the other went into Michahs house and fet the grauen image, the Ephod, and the Teraphim, and the molten image. Then saide the Priest vnto them, What doe ye?(Geneva) Jdg 18:18 Als nun jene ins Haus Michas gekommen waren und nahmen das Bild, den Leibrock, die Hausgötzen und den Abgott, sprach der Priester zu ihnen: Was macht ihr?(dhs) Jdg 18:18 When these went into Micah's house and took the carved image, the ephod, the household idols, and the molded image, the priest said to them, "What are you doing?"(nkjv) ======= Judges 18:19 ============ Jdg 18:19 They said to him, "Be silent, put your hand over your mouth and come with us, and be to us a father and a priest.
