And Jeroboam and all Israel came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:4 ============ 2Ch 10:4 "Your father made our yoke hard; now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you."(nas) 2Ch 10:4 ὁ πατήρ σου ἐσκλήρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ἡμῶν καὶ νῦν ἄφες ἀπὸ τῆς δουλείας τοῦ πατρός σου τῆς σκληρᾶς καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ ζυγοῦ αὐτοῦ τοῦ βαρέος οὗ ἔδωκεν ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς καὶ δουλεύσομέν σοι (lxx) 2Ch 10:4 Pater tuus durissimo jugo nos pressit: tu leviora impera patre tuo, qui nobis imposuit gravem servitutem, et paululum de onere subleva, ut serviamus tibi.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:4 Thy father made our yoke grieuous: nowe therefore make thou the grieuous seruitude of thy father, and his sore yoke, that he put vpon vs, lighter, and we will serue thee.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:4 Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu hart gemacht; so erleichtere nun du den harten Dienst deines Vaters und das schwere Joch, das er auf uns gelegt hat, so wollen wir dir untertänig sein.(dhs) 2Ch 10:4 "Your father made our yoke heavy; now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you."(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:5 ============ 2Ch 10:5 He said to them, "Return to me again in three days." Cumque abiisset populus,(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:5 And he sayde to them, Depart yet three dayes, then come againe vnto me; the people departed.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:5 Er sprach zu ihnen: Über drei Tage kommt wieder zu mir. And the people departed.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:6 ============ 2Ch 10:6 Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon while he was still alive, saying, "How do you counsel me to answer this people?"(nas) 2Ch 10:6 καὶ συνήγαγεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους τοὺς ἑστηκότας ἐναντίον Σαλωμων τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ζῆν αὐτὸν λέγων πῶς ὑμεῖς βουλεύεσθε τοῦ ἀποκριθῆναι τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ λόγον (lxx) 2Ch 10:6 iniit consilium cum senibus qui steterant coram patre ejus Salomone dum adhuc viveret, dicens: Quid datis consilii ut respondeam populo?(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:6 And King Rehoboam tooke counsel with the olde men that had stande before Salomon his father, while hee yet liued, saying, What counsell giue ye that I may answere this people?(Geneva) 2Ch 10:6 Und der König Rehabeam ratfragte die Ältesten, die vor seinem Vater Salomo gestanden waren, da er am Leben war, und sprach: Wie ratet ihr, daß ich diesem Volk Antwort gebe?(dhs) 2Ch 10:6 Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who stood before his father Solomon while he still lived, saying, "How do you advise me to answer these people?"(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:7 ============ 2Ch 10:7 They spoke to him, saying, "If you will be kind to this people and please them and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever."(nas) 2Ch 10:7 καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ λέγοντες ἐὰν ἐν τῇ σήμερον γένῃ εἰς ἀγαθὸν τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ καὶ εὐδοκήσῃς καὶ λαλήσῃς αὐτοῖς λόγους ἀγαθούς καὶ ἔσονταί σοι παῖδες πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας (lxx) 2Ch 10:7 Qui dixerunt ei: Si placueris populo huic, et leniveris eos verbis clementibus, servient tibi omni tempore.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:7 And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou be kinde to this people, and please them, and speake louing words to them, they will be thy seruants for euer.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:7 Sie redeten mit ihm und sprachen: Wirst du diesem Volk freundlich sein und sie gütig behandeln und ihnen gute Worte geben, so werden sie dir untertänig sein allewege.(dhs) 2Ch 10:7 And they spoke to him, saying, "If you are kind to these people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be your servants forever."(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:8 ============ 2Ch 10:8 But he forsook the counsel of the elders which they had given him, and consulted with the young men who grew up with him and served him.(nas) 2Ch 10:8 καὶ κατέλιπεν τὴν βουλὴν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οἳ συνεβουλεύσαντο αὐτῷ καὶ συνεβουλεύσατο μετὰ τῶν παιδαρίων τῶν συνεκτραφέντων μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ τῶν ἑστηκότων ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ (lxx) 2Ch 10:8 At ille reliquit consilium senum, et cum juvenibus tractare cœpit, qui cum eo nutriti fuerant, et erant in comitatu illius.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:8 But hee left the counsel of the ancient men that they had giuen him, and tooke counsell of the yong men that were brought vp with him, & waited on him.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:8 Er aber ließ außer acht den Rat der Ältesten, den sie ihm gegeben hatten, und ratschlagte mit den Jungen, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren und vor ihm standen,(dhs) 2Ch 10:8 But he rejected the advice which the elders had given him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:9 ============ 2Ch 10:9 So he said to them, "What counsel do you give that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, 'Lighten the yoke which your father put on us'?"(nas) 2Ch 10:9 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς τί ὑμεῖς βουλεύεσθε καὶ ἀποκριθήσομαι λόγον τῷ λαῷ τούτῳ οἳ ἐλάλησαν πρός με λέγοντες ἄνες ἀπὸ τοῦ ζυγοῦ οὗ ἔδωκεν ὁ πατήρ σου ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς (lxx) 2Ch 10:9 Dixitque ad eos: Quid vobis videtur? vel respondere quid debeo populo huic, qui dixit mihi: Subleva jugum quod imposuit nobis pater tuus?(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:9 And he sayd vnto them, What counsel giue ye, that we may answere this people, which haue spoken to mee, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put vpon vs, lighter?(Geneva) 2Ch 10:9 und sprach zu ihnen: Was ratet ihr, daß wir diesem Volk antworten, die mit mir geredet haben und sagen: Erleichtere das Joch, das dein Vater auf uns gelegt hat?(dhs) 2Ch 10:9 And he said to them, "What advice do you give? How should we answer this people who have spoken to me, saying, 'Lighten the yoke which your father put on us'?"(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:10 ============ 2Ch 10:10 The young men who grew up with him spoke to him, saying, "Thus you shall say to the people who spoke to you, saying, 'Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter for us.' Thus you shall say to them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's loins!(nas) 2Ch 10:10 καὶ ἐλάλησαν αὐτῷ τὰ παιδάρια τὰ ἐκτραφέντα μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ οὕτως λαλήσεις τῷ λαῷ τῷ λαλήσαντι πρὸς σὲ λέγων ὁ πατήρ σου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ἡμῶν καὶ σὺ ἄφες ἀφ᾽ ἡμῶν οὕτως ἐρεῖς ὁ μικρὸς δάκτυλός μου παχύτερος τῆς ὀσφύος τοῦ πατρός μου (lxx) 2Ch 10:10 At illi responderunt ut juvenes, et nutriti cum eo in deliciis, atque dixerunt: Sic loqueris populo qui dixit tibi: Pater tuus aggravavit jugum nostrum, tu subleva: et sic respondebis ei: Minimus digitus meus grossior est lumbis patris mei.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:10 And the yong men that were brought vp with him, spake vnto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answere the people that spake to thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heauie, but make thou it lighter for vs: thus shalt thou say vnto them, My least part shalbe bigger then my fathers loines.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:10 Die Jungen aber, die mit ihm aufgewachsen waren, redeten mit ihm und sprachen: So sollst du sagen zu dem Volk, das mit dir geredet und spricht: Dein Vater hat unser Joch zu schwer gemacht; mache du unser Joch leichter, und sprich zu ihnen: Mein kleinster Finger soll dicker sein den meines Vaters Lenden.(dhs) 2Ch 10:10 Then the young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, "Thus you should speak to the people who have spoken to you, saying, 'Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter on us'--thus you shall say to them: 'My little finger shall be thicker than my father's waist!(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:11 ============ 2Ch 10:11 Whereas my father loaded you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.'"(nas) 2Ch 10:11 καὶ νῦν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ζυγῷ βαρεῖ καὶ ἐγὼ προσθήσω ἐπὶ τὸν ζυγὸν ὑμῶν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ἐν μάστιγξιν καὶ ἐγὼ παιδεύσω ὑμᾶς ἐν σκορπίοις (lxx) 2Ch 10:11 Pater meus imposuit vobis grave jugum, et ego majus pondus apponam; pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego vero cædam vos scorpionibus.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:11 Now whereas my father did burden you with a grieuous yoke, I will yet increase your yoke: my father hath chastised you with roddes, but I will correct you with scourges.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:11 Hat nun mein Vater auf euch ein schweres Joch geladen, so will ich eures Joches noch mehr machen: mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, ich aber mit Skorpionen.(dhs) 2Ch 10:11 And now, whereas my father put a heavy yoke on you, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!' King Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders,(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:14 ============ 2Ch 10:14 He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions."(nas) 2Ch 10:14 καὶ ἐλάλησεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τῶν νεωτέρων λέγων ὁ πατήρ μου ἐβάρυνεν τὸν ζυγὸν ὑμῶν καὶ ἐγὼ προσθήσω ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν ὁ πατήρ μου ἐπαίδευσεν ὑμᾶς ἐν μάστιγξιν καὶ ἐγὼ παιδεύσω ὑμᾶς ἐν σκορπίοις (lxx) 2Ch 10:14 locutusque est juxta juvenum voluntatem: Pater meus grave vobis imposuit jugum, quod ego gravius faciam; pater meus cecidit vos flagellis, ego vero cædam vos scorpionibus.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:14 And spake to them after ye counsell of the yong men, saying, My father made your yoke grieuous, but I wil incease it: my father chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:14 und redete mit ihnen nach dem Rat der Jungen und sprach: Hat mein Vater euer Joch schwer gemacht, so will ich noch mehr dazu machen: mein Vater hat euch mit Peitschen gezüchtigt, ich aber mit Skorpionen.(dhs) 2Ch 10:14 and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scourges!"(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:15 ============ 2Ch 10:15 So the king did not listen to the people, for it was a turn of events from God that the Lord might establish His word, which He spoke through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.(nas) 2Ch 10:15 καὶ οὐκ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τοῦ λαοῦ ὅτι ἦν μεταστροφὴ παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ λέγων ἀνέστησεν κύριος τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ ὃν ἐλάλησεν ἐν χειρὶ Αχια τοῦ Σηλωνίτου περὶ Ιεροβοαμ υἱοῦ Ναβατ (lxx) 2Ch 10:15 Et non acquievit populi precibus: erat enim voluntatis Dei ut compleretur sermo ejus quem locutus fuerat per manum Ahiæ Silonitis ad Jeroboam filium Nabat.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:15 So the king hearkened not vnto the people: for it was the ordinance of God that the Lorde might performe his saying, which hee had spoken by Ahiiah the Shilonite to Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:15 Also gehorchte der König dem Volk nicht; denn es war also von Gott gewandt, auf daß der HERR sein Wort bestätigte, das er geredet hatte durch Ahia von Silo zu Jerobeam, dem Sohn Nebats.(dhs) 2Ch 10:15 So the king did not listen to the people; for the turn of events was from God, that the Lord might fulfill His word, which He had spoken by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 10:16 ============ 2Ch 10:16 When all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them the people answered the king, saying, "What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to your tents, O Israel; Now look after your own house, David." So all Israel departed to their tents.(nas) 2Ch 10:16 καὶ παντὸς Ισραηλ ὅτι οὐκ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπεκρίθη ὁ λαὸς πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα λέγων τίς ἡμῖν μερὶς ἐν Δαυιδ καὶ κληρονομία ἐν υἱῷ Ιεσσαι εἰς τὰ σκηνώματά σου Ισραηλ νῦν βλέπε τὸν οἶκόν σου Δαυιδ καὶ ἐπορεύθη πᾶς Ισραηλ εἰς τὰ σκηνώματα αὐτοῦ (lxx) 2Ch 10:16 Populus autem universus rege duriora dicente, sic locutus est ad eum: Non est nobis pars in David, neque hæreditas in filio Isai. Revertere in tabernacula tua, Israël; tu autem pasce domum tuam David. Et abiit Israël in tabernacula sua.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:16 So when all Isarael sawe that the King would not heare them, the people answered the King, saying, What portion haue we in Dauid? for we haue none inheritance in the sonue of Ishai. O Israel, euery man to your tents: now see to thine owne house, Dauid. So all Israel departed to their tents.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:16 Da aber das ganze Israel sah, daß ihnen der König nicht gehorchte, antwortete das Volk dem König und sprach: Was haben wir für Teil an David oder Erbe am Sohn Isais? Jedermann von Israel zu seiner Hütte! So siehe nun du zu deinem Hause, David! Und das ganze Israel ging in seine Hütten,(dhs) 2Ch 10:16 Now when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying: "What share have we in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to your tents, O Israel! Now see to your own house, O David!" And King Rehoboam made haste to mount his chariot to flee to Jerusalem.(nas) 2Ch 10:18 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ τὸν Αδωνιραμ τὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ φόρου καὶ ἐλιθοβόλησαν αὐτὸν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ λίθοις καὶ ἀπέθανεν καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Ροβοαμ ἔσπευσεν τοῦ ἀναβῆναι εἰς τὸ ἅρμα τοῦ φυγεῖν εἰς Ιερουσαλημ (lxx) 2Ch 10:18 Misitque rex Roboam Aduram, qui præerat tributis, et lapidaverunt eum filii Israël, et mortuus est: porro rex Roboam currum festinavit ascendere, et fugit in Jerusalem.(vulgate) 2 Chronicles 10:18 Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was ouer the tribute, and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died: then King Rehoboham made speede to get him vp to his charet, to flee to Ierusalem.(Geneva) 2Ch 10:18 Aber der König Rehabeam sandte Hadoram, den Rentmeister; aber die Kinder Israel steinigten ihn zu Tode. Und der König Rehabeam stieg stracks auf seinen Wagen, daß er flöhe gen Jerusalem.(dhs) 2Ch 10:18 Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was in charge of revenue; but the children of Israel stoned him with stones, and he died.
