The Lord takes vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies. In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet. (nas) Nah 1:3 κύριος μακρόθυμος καὶ μεγάλη ἡ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀθῳῶν οὐκ ἀθῳώσει κύριος ἐν συντελείᾳ καὶ ἐν συσσεισμῷ ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ νεφέλαι κονιορτὸς ποδῶν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Nah 1:3 Dominus patiens, et magnus fortitudine, et mundans non faciet innocentem. Bashan and Carmel wither; The blossoms of Lebanon wither. (nas) Nah 1:4 ἀπειλῶν θαλάσσῃ καὶ ξηραίνων αὐτὴν καὶ πάντας τοὺς ποταμοὺς ἐξερημῶν ὠλιγώθη ἡ Βασανῖτις καὶ ὁ Κάρμηλος καὶ τὰ ἐξανθοῦντα τοῦ Λιβάνου ἐξέλιπεν (lxx) Nah 1:4 Increpans mare, et exsiccans illud, et omnia flumina ad desertum deducens. Infirmatus est Basan et Carmelus, et flos Libani elanguit.(vulgate) Nahum 1:4 He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted.(Geneva) Nah 1:4 der das Meer schilt und trocken macht und alle Wasser vertrocknet. (nas) Nah 1:5 τὰ ὄρη ἐσείσθησαν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ βουνοὶ ἐσαλεύθησαν καὶ ἀνεστάλη ἡ γῆ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ ἡ σύμπασα καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν αὐτῇ (lxx) Nah 1:5 Montes commoti sunt ab eo, et colles desolati sunt: et contremuit terra a facie ejus, et orbis, et omnes habitantes in eo.(vulgate) Nahum 1:5 The mountaines tremble for him, and the hilles melt, & the earth is burnt at his sight, yea, the worlde, and all that dwell therein.(Geneva) Nah 1:5 Die Berge zittern vor ihm, und die Hügel zergehen; das Erdreich bebt vor ihm, der Weltkreis und alle, die darauf wohnen.(dhs) Nah 1:5 The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:6 ============ Nah 1:6 Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the burning of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire And the rocks are broken up by Him. (nas) Nah 1:6 ἀπὸ προσώπου ὀργῆς αὐτοῦ τίς ὑποστήσεται καὶ τίς ἀντιστήσεται ἐν ὀργῇ θυμοῦ αὐτοῦ ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ τήκει ἀρχάς καὶ αἱ πέτραι διεθρύβησαν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Nah 1:6 Ante faciem indignationis ejus quis stabit? et quis resistet in ira furoris ejus? Indignatio ejus effusa est ut ignis, et petræ dissolutæ sunt ab eo.(vulgate) Nahum 1:6 Who can stande before his wrath? Or who can abide in the fiercenesse of his wrath? (nas) Nah 1:7 χρηστὸς κύριος τοῖς ὑπομένουσιν αὐτὸν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θλίψεως καὶ γινώσκων τοὺς εὐλαβουμένους αὐτόν (lxx) Nah 1:7 Bonus Dominus, et confortans in die tribulationis, et sciens sperantes in se.(vulgate) Nahum 1:7 The Lorde is good and as a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.(Geneva) Nah 1:7 Der HERR ist gütig und eine Feste zur Zeit der Not und kennt die, die auf ihn trauen.(dhs) Nah 1:7 The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:8 ============ Nah 1:8 But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, And will pursue His enemies into darkness. (nas) Nah 1:8 καὶ ἐν κατακλυσμῷ πορείας συντέλειαν ποιήσεται τοὺς ἐπεγειρομένους καὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ διώξεται σκότος (lxx) Nah 1:8 Et in diluvio prætereunte consummationem faciet loci ejus, et inimicos ejus persequentur tenebræ.(vulgate) Nahum 1:8 But passing ouer as with a flood, he will vtterly destroy the place thereof, and darknesse shall pursue his enemies.(Geneva) Nah 1:8 Er läßt die Flut überher laufen und macht derselben Stätte ein Ende, und seine Feinde verfolgt er mit Finsternis.(dhs) Nah 1:8 But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, And darkness will pursue His enemies.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:9 ============ Nah 1:9 Whatever you devise against the Lord, He will make a complete end of it. Distress will not rise up twice. (nas) Nah 1:9 τί λογίζεσθε ἐπὶ τὸν κύριον συντέλειαν αὐτὸς ποιήσεται οὐκ ἐκδικήσει δὶς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ ἐν θλίψει (lxx) Nah 1:9 Quid cogitatis contra Dominum? Consummationem ipse faciet: non consurget duplex tribulatio,(vulgate) Nahum 1:9 What doe ye imagine against the Lord? He wil make an vtter destruction: affliction shal not rise vp the seconde time.(Geneva) Nah 1:9 Was gedenkt ihr wider den HERRN? Er wird doch ein Ende machen; es wird das Unglück nicht zweimal kommen.(dhs) Nah 1:9 What do you conspire against the Lord? He will make an utter end of it. Affliction will not rise up a second time.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:10 ============ Nah 1:10 Like tangled thorns, And like those who are drunken with their drink, They are consumed As stubble completely withered. (nas) Nah 1:10 ὅτι ἕως θεμελίου αὐτῶν χερσωθήσεται καὶ ὡς σμῖλαξ περιπλεκομένη βρωθήσεται καὶ ὡς καλάμη ξηρασίας μεστή (lxx) Nah 1:10 quia sicut spinæ se invicem complectuntur, sic convivium eorum pariter potantium; consumentur quasi stipula ariditate plena.(vulgate) Nahum 1:10 For he shall come as vnto thornes folden one in another, and as vnto drunkardes in their drunkennesse: they shall be deuoured as stubble fully dryed.(Geneva) Nah 1:10 Denn wenn sie gleich sind wie die Dornen, die noch ineinanderwachsen und im besten Saft sind, so sollen sie doch verbrannt werden wie dürres Stroh.(dhs) Nah 1:10 For while tangled like thorns, And while drunken like drunkards, They shall be devoured like stubble fully dried.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:11 ============ Nah 1:11 From you has gone forth One who plotted evil against the Lord, A wicked counselor. (nas) Nah 1:11 ἐκ σοῦ ἐξελεύσεται λογισμὸς κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου πονηρὰ λογιζόμενος ἐναντία (lxx) Nah 1:11 Ex te exibit cogitans contra Dominum malitiam, mente pertractans prævaricationem.(vulgate) Nahum 1:11 There commeth one out of thee that imagineth euill against the Lorde, euen a wicked counsellour.(Geneva) Nah 1:11 Denn von dir ist gekommen der Schalksrat, der Böses wider den HERRN gedachte.(dhs) Nah 1:11 From you comes forth one Who plots evil against the Lord, A wicked counselor.(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:12 ============ Nah 1:12 Thus says the Lord, "Though they are at full strength and likewise many, Even so, they will be cut off and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no longer. (nas) Nah 1:12 τάδε λέγει κύριος κατάρχων ὑδάτων πολλῶν καὶ οὕτως διασταλήσονται καὶ ἡ ἀκοή σου οὐκ ἐνακουσθήσεται ἔτι (lxx) Nah 1:12 Hæc dicit Dominus: Si perfecti fuerint, et ita plures, sic quoque attondentur, et pertransibit: afflixi te, et non affligam te ultra.(vulgate) Nahum 1:12 Thus saith the Lorde, Though they be quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall passe by: though I haue afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.(Geneva) Nah 1:12 So spricht der HERR: Sie kommen so gerüstet und mächtig, wie sie wollen, so sollen sie doch umgehauen werden und dahinfahren. Ich habe dich gedemütigt; aber ich will dich nicht wiederum demütigen.(dhs) Nah 1:12 Thus says the Lord: "Though they are safe, and likewise many, Yet in this manner they will be cut down When he passes through. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more;(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:13 ============ Nah 1:13 "So now, I will break his yoke bar from upon you, And I will tear off your shackles."(nas) Nah 1:13 καὶ νῦν συντρίψω τὴν ῥάβδον αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ τοὺς δεσμούς σου διαρρήξω (lxx) Nah 1:13 Et nunc conteram virgam ejus de dorso tuo, et vincula tua disrumpam.(vulgate) Nahum 1:13 For nowe I will breake his yoke from thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.(Geneva) Nah 1:13 Alsdann will ich sein Joch, das du trägst, zerbrechen und deine Bande zerreißen.(dhs) Nah 1:13 For now I will break off his yoke from you, And burst your bonds apart."(nkjv) ======= Nahum 1:14 ============ Nah 1:14 The Lord has issued a command concerning you: "Your name will no longer be perpetuated. I will prepare your grave, For you are contemptible."(nas) Nah 1:14 καὶ ἐντελεῖται ὑπὲρ σοῦ κύριος οὐ σπαρήσεται ἐκ τοῦ ὀνόματός σου ἔτι ἐξ οἴκου θεοῦ σου ἐξολεθρεύσω τὰ γλυπτὰ καὶ χωνευτά θήσομαι ταφήν σου ὅτι ταχεῖς (lxx) Nah 1:14 Et præcipiet super te Dominus; non seminabitur ex nomine tuo amplius: de domo Dei tui interficiam sculptile, et conflatile; ponam sepulchrum tuum, quia inhonoratus es.(vulgate) Nahum 1:14 And the Lorde hath giuen a commandement concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sowen: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the grauen, and the molten image: I will make it thy graue for thee, for thou art vile.(Geneva) Nah 1:14 Aber wider dich hat der HERR geboten, daß deines Namens kein Same mehr soll bleiben. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the carved image and the molded image. Celebrate your feasts, O Judah; Pay your vows. For never again will the wicked one pass through you; He is cut off completely. (nas) Nah 1:15 ἰδοὺ ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη οἱ πόδες εὐαγγελιζομένου καὶ ἀπαγγέλλοντος εἰρήνην ἑόρταζε Ιουδα τὰς ἑορτάς σου ἀπόδος τὰς εὐχάς σου διότι οὐ μὴ προσθήσωσιν ἔτι τοῦ διελθεῖν διὰ σοῦ εἰς παλαίωσιν συντετέλεσται ἐξῆρται (lxx) Nah 1:15 Ecce super montes pedes evangelizantis, et annuntiantis pacem.
