I cry out to You, "Violence!" Yet You do not save. (nas) Hab 1:2 ἕως τίνος κύριε κεκράξομαι καὶ οὐ μὴ εἰσακούσῃς βοήσομαι πρὸς σὲ ἀδικούμενος καὶ οὐ σώσεις (lxx) Hab 1:2 [Usquequo, Domine, clamabo, et non exaudies? vociferabor ad te, vim patiens, et non salvabis?(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:2 O Lorde, howe long shall I crye, and thou wilt not heare! euen crye out vnto thee for violence, and thou wilt not helpe!(Geneva) Hab 1:2 HERR, wie lange soll ich schreien, und du willst mich nicht hören? Yes, destruction and violence are before me; Strife exists and contention arises. (nas) Hab 1:3 ἵνα τί μοι ἔδειξας κόπους καὶ πόνους ἐπιβλέπειν ταλαιπωρίαν καὶ ἀσέβειαν ἐξ ἐναντίας μου γέγονεν κρίσις καὶ ὁ κριτὴς λαμβάνει (lxx) Hab 1:3 Quare ostendisti mihi iniquitatem et laborem, videre prædam et injustitiam contra me? Et factum est judicium, et contradictio potentior.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:3 Why doest thou shewe mee iniquitie, and cause me to beholde sorowe? for spoyling, and violence are before me: and there are that rayse vp strife and contention.(Geneva) Hab 1:3 Warum lässest du mich Mühsal sehen und siehest dem Jammer zu? For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore justice comes out perverted. (nas) Hab 1:4 διὰ τοῦτο διεσκέδασται νόμος καὶ οὐ διεξάγεται εἰς τέλος κρίμα ὅτι ὁ ἀσεβὴς καταδυναστεύει τὸν δίκαιον ἕνεκεν τούτου ἐξελεύσεται τὸ κρίμα διεστραμμένον (lxx) Hab 1:4 Propter hoc lacerata est lex, et non pervenit usque ad finem judicium; quia impius prævalet adversus justum, propterea egreditur judicium perversum.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:4 Therefore the Lawe is dissolued, and iudgement doeth neuer go forth: for the wicked doeth compasse about the righteous: therefore wrong iudgement proceedeth.(Geneva) Hab 1:4 Darum ist das Gesetz ohnmächtig, und keine rechte Sache kann gewinnen. Denn der Gottlose übervorteilt den Gerechten; darum ergehen verkehrte Urteile.(dhs) Hab 1:4 Therefore the law is powerless, And justice never goes forth. Because I am doing something in your days-- You would not believe if you were told. (nas) Hab 1:5 ἴδετε οἱ καταφρονηταί καὶ ἐπιβλέψατε καὶ θαυμάσατε θαυμάσια καὶ ἀφανίσθητε διότι ἔργον ἐγὼ ἐργάζομαι ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ὑμῶν ὃ οὐ μὴ πιστεύσητε ἐάν τις ἐκδιηγῆται (lxx) Hab 1:5 Aspicite in gentibus, et videte; admiramini, et obstupescite: quia opus factum est in diebus vestris, quod nemo credet cum narrabitur.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:5 Beholde among the heathen, and regarde, and wonder, and maruaile: for I will worke a worke in your dayes: yee will not beleeue it, though it be tolde you.(Geneva) Hab 1:5 Schaut unter den Heiden, seht und verwundert euch! denn ich will etwas tun zu euren Zeiten, welches ihr nicht glauben werdet, wenn man davon sagen wird.(dhs) Hab 1:5 "Look among the nations and watch-- Be utterly astounded! (nas) Hab 1:6 διότι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐξεγείρω ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς τοὺς Χαλδαίους τοὺς μαχητάς τὸ ἔθνος τὸ πικρὸν καὶ τὸ ταχινὸν τὸ πορευόμενον ἐπὶ τὰ πλάτη τῆς γῆς τοῦ κατακληρονομῆσαι σκηνώματα οὐκ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Hab 1:6 Quia ecce ego suscitabo Chaldæos, gentem amaram et velocem, ambulantem super latitudinem terræ, ut possideat tabernacula non sua.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:6 For lo, I raise vp the Caldeans, that bitter & furious nation, which shall goe vpon the breadth of the lande to possesse the dwelling places, that are not theirs.(Geneva) Hab 1:6 Denn siehe, ich will die Chaldäer erwecken, ein bitteres und schnelles Volk, welches ziehen wird, soweit die Erde ist, Wohnungen einzunehmen, die nicht sein sind,(dhs) Hab 1:6 For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans, A bitter and hasty nation Which marches through the breadth of the earth, To possess dwelling places that are not theirs.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:7 ============ Hab 1:7 "They are dreaded and feared; Their justice and authority originate with themselves. (nas) Hab 1:7 φοβερὸς καὶ ἐπιφανής ἐστιν ἐξ αὐτοῦ τὸ κρίμα αὐτοῦ ἔσται καὶ τὸ λῆμμα αὐτοῦ ἐξ αὐτοῦ ἐξελεύσεται (lxx) Hab 1:7 Horribilis et terribilis est: ex semetipsa judicium et onus ejus egredietur.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:7 They are terrible & fearefull: their iudgement & their dignitie shal proceede of theselues.(Geneva) Hab 1:7 und wird grausam und schrecklich sein; das da gebeut und zwingt, wie es will.(dhs) Hab 1:7 They are terrible and dreadful; Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:8 ============ Hab 1:8 "Their horses are swifter than leopards And keener than wolves in the evening. Their horsemen come galloping, Their horsemen come from afar; They fly like an eagle swooping down to devour. (nas) Hab 1:8 καὶ ἐξαλοῦνται ὑπὲρ παρδάλεις οἱ ἵπποι αὐτοῦ καὶ ὀξύτεροι ὑπὲρ τοὺς λύκους τῆς Ἀραβίας καὶ ἐξιππάσονται οἱ ἱππεῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ ὁρμήσουσιν μακρόθεν καὶ πετασθήσονται ὡς ἀετὸς πρόθυμος εἰς τὸ φαγεῖν (lxx) Hab 1:8 Leviores pardis equi ejus, et velociores lupis vespertinis: et diffundentur equites ejus: equites namque ejus de longe venient; volabunt quasi aquila festinans ad comedendum.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:8 Their horses also are swifter then the leopards, and are more fierce then the wolues in the euening: and their horsemen are many: & their horsemen shall come from farre: they shall flie as the eagle hasting to meate.(Geneva) Hab 1:8 Ihre Rosse sind schneller denn die Parder und behender denn die Wölfe des Abends. Ihre Reiter ziehen in großen Haufen von ferne daher, als flögen sie, wie die Adler eilen zum Aas.(dhs) Hab 1:8 Their horses also are swifter than leopards, And more fierce than evening wolves. Their chargers charge ahead; Their cavalry comes from afar; They fly as the eagle that hastens to eat.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:9 ============ Hab 1:9 "All of them come for violence. Their horde of faces moves forward. They collect captives like sand. (nas) Hab 1:9 συντέλεια εἰς ἀσεβεῖς ἥξει ἀνθεστηκότας προσώποις αὐτῶν ἐξ ἐναντίας καὶ συνάξει ὡς ἄμμον αἰχμαλωσίαν (lxx) Hab 1:9 Omnes ad prædam venient, facies eorum ventus urens; et congregabit quasi arenam captivitatem.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:9 They come all to spoyle: before their faces shalbe an Eastwinde, and they shall gather the captiuitie, as the sand.(Geneva) Hab 1:9 Sie kommen allesamt, daß sie Schaden tun; wo sie hin wollen, reißen sie hindurch wie ein Ostwind und werden Gefangene zusammenraffen wie Sand.(dhs) Hab 1:9 "They all come for violence; Their faces are set like the east wind. They gather captives like sand.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:10 ============ Hab 1:10 "They mock at kings And rulers are a laughing matter to them. They laugh at every fortress And heap up rubble to capture it. (nas) Hab 1:10 καὶ αὐτὸς ἐν βασιλεῦσιν ἐντρυφήσει καὶ τύραννοι παίγνια αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτὸς εἰς πᾶν ὀχύρωμα ἐμπαίξεται καὶ βαλεῖ χῶμα καὶ κρατήσει αὐτοῦ (lxx) Hab 1:10 Et ipse de regibus triumphabit, et tyranni ridiculi ejus erunt; ipse super omnem munitionem ridebit, et comportabit aggerem, et capiet eam.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:10 And they shall mocke the Kings, and the princes shalbe a skorne vnto them: they shall deride euery strong holde: for they shall gather dust, and take it.(Geneva) Hab 1:10 Sie werden der Könige spotten, und der Fürsten werden sie lachen. Alle Festungen werden ihnen ein Scherz sein; denn sie werden Erde aufschütten und sie gewinnen.(dhs) Hab 1:10 They scoff at kings, And princes are scorned by them. They deride every stronghold, For they heap up earthen mounds and seize it.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:11 ============ Hab 1:11 "Then they will sweep through like the wind and pass on. But they will be held guilty, They whose strength is their god."(nas) Hab 1:11 τότε μεταβαλεῖ τὸ πνεῦμα καὶ διελεύσεται καὶ ἐξιλάσεται αὕτη ἡ ἰσχὺς τῷ θεῷ μου (lxx) Hab 1:11 Tunc mutabitur spiritus, et pertransibit, et corruet: hæc est fortitudo ejus dei sui.]~(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:11 Then shall they take a courage, & transgresse & doe wickedly, imputing this their power vnto their god.(Geneva) Hab 1:11 Alsdann werden sie einen neuen Mut nehmen, werden fortfahren und sich versündigen; also muß ihre Macht ihr Gott sein.(dhs) Hab 1:11 Then his mind changes, and he transgresses; He commits offense, Ascribing this power to his god."(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:12 ============ Hab 1:12 Are You not from everlasting, O Lord, my God, my Holy One? We will not die. You, O Lord, have appointed them to judge; And You, O Rock, have established them to correct. (nas) Hab 1:12 οὐχὶ σὺ ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς κύριε ὁ θεὸς ὁ ἅγιός μου καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν κύριε εἰς κρίμα τέταχας αὐτόν καὶ ἔπλασέν με τοῦ ἐλέγχειν παιδείαν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Hab 1:12 [Numquid non tu a principio, Domine, Deus meus, sancte meus, et non moriemur? Domine, in judicium posuisti eum, et fortem, ut corriperes, fundasti eum.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:12 Art thou not of olde, O Lorde my God, mine holy one? we shall not die: O Lord, thou hast ordeined them for iudgement, and O God, thou hast established them for correction.(Geneva) Hab 1:12 Aber du, HERR, mein Gott, mein Heiliger, der du von Ewigkeit her bist, laß uns nicht sterben; sondern laß sie uns, o HERR, nur eine Strafe sein und laß sie, o unser Hort, uns nur züchtigen!(dhs) Hab 1:12 Are You not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? Why do You look with favor On those who deal treacherously? Why are You silent when the wicked swallow up Those more righteous than they? (nas) Hab 1:13 καθαρὸς ὀφθαλμὸς τοῦ μὴ ὁρᾶν πονηρά καὶ ἐπιβλέπειν ἐπὶ πόνους οὐ δυνήσῃ ἵνα τί ἐπιβλέπεις ἐπὶ καταφρονοῦντας παρασιωπήσῃ ἐν τῷ καταπίνειν ἀσεβῆ τὸν δίκαιον (lxx) Hab 1:13 Mundi sunt oculi tui, ne videas malum, et respicere ad iniquitatem non poteris. Quare respicis super iniqua agentes, et taces devorante impio justiorem se?(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of pure eyes, and canst not see euill: thou canst not behold wickednesse: wherefore doest thou looke vpon the transgressors, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked deuoureth the man, that is more righteous then he?(Geneva) Hab 1:13 Deine Augen sind rein, daß du Übles nicht sehen magst, und dem Jammer kannst du nicht zusehen. Warum siehst du denn den Räubern zu und schweigst, daß der Gottlose verschlingt den, der frömmer als er ist,(dhs) Hab 1:13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. (nas) Hab 1:14 καὶ ποιήσεις τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ὡς τοὺς ἰχθύας τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ὡς τὰ ἑρπετὰ τὰ οὐκ ἔχοντα ἡγούμενον (lxx) Hab 1:14 Et facies homines quasi pisces maris, et quasi reptile non habens principem.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, and as the creeping things, that haue no ruler ouer them.(Geneva) Hab 1:14 und lässest die Menschen gehen wie Fische im Meer, wie Gewürm, das keinen HERRN hat?(dhs) Hab 1:14 Why do You make men like fish of the sea, Like creeping things that have no ruler over them?(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:15 ============ Hab 1:15 The Chaldeans bring all of them up with a hook, Drag them away with their net, And gather them together in their fishing net. Therefore they rejoice and are glad. (nas) Hab 1:15 συντέλειαν ἐν ἀγκίστρῳ ἀνέσπασεν καὶ εἵλκυσεν αὐτὸν ἐν ἀμφιβλήστρῳ καὶ συνήγαγεν αὐτὸν ἐν ταῖς σαγήναις αὐτοῦ ἕνεκεν τούτου εὐφρανθήσεται καὶ χαρήσεται ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ (lxx) Hab 1:15 Totum in hamo sublevavit, traxit illud in sagena sua, et congregavit in rete suum. (nas) Hab 1:16 ἕνεκεν τούτου θύσει τῇ σαγήνῃ αὐτοῦ καὶ θυμιάσει τῷ ἀμφιβλήστρῳ αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐλίπανεν μερίδα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ βρώματα αὐτοῦ ἐκλεκτά (lxx) Hab 1:16 Propterea immolabit sagenæ suæ, et sacrificabit reti suo, quia in ipsis incrassata est pars ejus, et cibus ejus electus.(vulgate) Habakkuk 1:16 Therefore they sacrifice vnto their net, and burne incense vnto their yarne, because by them their portion is fat & their meat plenteous.(Geneva) Hab 1:16 Darum opfern sie ihrem Netz und räuchern ihrem Garn, weil durch diese ihr Teil so fett und ihre Speise so völlig geworden ist.(dhs) Hab 1:16 Therefore they sacrifice to their net, And burn incense to their dragnet; Because by them their share is sumptuous And their food plentiful.(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 1:17 ============ Hab 1:17 Will they therefore empty their net And continually slay nations without sparing? (nas) Hab 1:17 διὰ τοῦτο ἀμφιβαλεῖ τὸ ἀμφίβληστρον αὐτοῦ καὶ διὰ παντὸς ἀποκτέννειν ἔθνη οὐ φείσεται (lxx) Hab 1:17 Propter hoc ergo expandit sagenam suam, et semper interficere gentes non parcet.](vulgate) Habakkuk 1:17 Shall they therefore stretch out their net and not spare continually to slay the nations?(Geneva) Hab 1:17 Sollen sie derhalben ihr Netz immerdar auswerfen und nicht aufhören, Völker zu erwürgen?(dhs) Hab 1:17 Shall they therefore empty their net, And continue to slay nations without pity?(nkjv) ======= Habakkuk 2:1 ============ Hab 2:1 I will stand on my guard post And station myself on the rampart; And I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, And how I may reply when I am reproved.
