(nas) Zep 1:2 ἐκλείψει ἐκλιπέτω πάντα ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς λέγει κύριος (lxx) Zep 1:2 [Congregans congregabo omnia a facie terræ, dicit Dominus:(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:2 I will surely destroy all things from off the land, saith the Lorde.(Geneva) Zep 1:2 Ich will alles aus dem Lande wegnehmen, spricht der HERR.(dhs) Zep 1:2 "I will utterly consume everything From the face of the land," Says the Lord;(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:3 ============ Zep 1:3 "I will remove man and beast; I will remove the birds of the sky And the fish of the sea, And the ruins along with the wicked; And I will cut off man from the face of the earth," declares the Lord. (nas) Zep 1:3 ἐκλιπέτω ἄνθρωπος καὶ κτήνη ἐκλιπέτω τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ οἱ ἰχθύες τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἐξαρῶ τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἀπὸ προσώπου τῆς γῆς λέγει κύριος (lxx) Zep 1:3 congregans hominem et pecus, congregans volatilia cæli et pisces maris: et ruinæ impiorum erunt, et disperdam homines a facie terræ, dicit Dominus.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:3 I will destroy man and beast: I wil destroy the foules of the heauen, and the fishes of the sea, and ruines shalbe to the wicked, and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.(Geneva) Zep 1:3 Ich will Menschen und Vieh, Vögel des Himmels und Fische im Meer wegnehmen samt den Ärgernissen und den Gottlosen; ja, ich will die Menschen ausreuten aus dem Lande, spricht der HERR.(dhs) Zep 1:3 "I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, The fish of the sea, And the stumbling blocks along with the wicked. And I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, And the names of the idolatrous priests along with the priests. (nas) Zep 1:4 καὶ ἐκτενῶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἐξαρῶ ἐκ τοῦ τόπου τούτου τὰ ὀνόματα τῆς Βααλ καὶ τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν ἱερέων (lxx) Zep 1:4 Et extendam manum meam super Judam et super omnes habitantes Jerusalem: et disperdam de loco hoc reliquias Baal, et nomina ædituorum cum sacerdotibus;(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:4 I will also stretch out mine hand vpon Iudah, and vpon all the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and I wil cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with ye Priestes,(Geneva) Zep 1:4 Ich will meine Hand ausstrecken über Juda und über alle, die zu Jerusalem wohnen; also will ich das übrige von Baal ausreuten, dazu den Namen der Götzenpfaffen und Priester aus diesem Ort;(dhs) Zep 1:4 "I will stretch out My hand against Judah, And against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off every trace of Baal from this place, The names of the idolatrous priests with the pagan priests--(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:5 ============ Zep 1:5 "And those who bow down on the housetops to the host of heaven, And those who bow down and swear to the Lord and yet swear by Milcom, (nas) Zep 1:5 καὶ τοὺς προσκυνοῦντας ἐπὶ τὰ δώματα τῇ στρατιᾷ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τοὺς ὀμνύοντας κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ τοὺς ὀμνύοντας κατὰ τοῦ βασιλέως αὐτῶν (lxx) Zep 1:5 et eos qui adorant super tecta militiam cæli, et adorant et jurant in Domino, et jurant in Melchom;(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:5 And them that worship the hoste of heauen vpon the house tops, and them that worship and sweare by the Lord, and sweare by Malcham,(Geneva) Zep 1:5 und die, so auf den Dächern des Himmels Heer anbeten; die es anbeten und schwören doch bei dem HERRN und zugleich bei Milkom;(dhs) Zep 1:5 Those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops; Those who worship and swear oaths by the Lord, But who also swear by Milcom;(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:6 ============ Zep 1:6 And those who have turned back from following the Lord, And those who have not sought the Lord or inquired of Him."(nas) Zep 1:6 καὶ τοὺς ἐκκλίνοντας ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ τοὺς μὴ ζητήσαντας τὸν κύριον καὶ τοὺς μὴ ἀντεχομένους τοῦ κυρίου (lxx) Zep 1:6 et qui avertuntur de post tergum Domini, et qui non quæsierunt Dominum, nec investigaverunt eum.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:6 And them that are turned backe from the Lord, and those that haue not sought the Lorde, nor inquired for him.(Geneva) Zep 1:6 und die vom HERRN abfallen, und die nach dem HERRN nichts fragen und ihn nicht achten.(dhs) Zep 1:6 Those who have turned back from following the Lord, And have not sought the Lord, nor inquired of Him."(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:7 ============ Zep 1:7 Be silent before the Lord God! For the day of the Lord is near, For the Lord has prepared a sacrifice, He has consecrated His guests. (nas) Zep 1:8 καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἡμέρᾳ θυσίας κυρίου καὶ ἐκδικήσω ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς ἐνδεδυμένους ἐνδύματα ἀλλότρια (lxx) Zep 1:8 Et erit: in die hostiæ Domini, visitabo super principes, et super filios regis, et super omnes qui induti sunt veste peregrina;(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:8 And it shalbe in the day of the Lords sacrifice, that I will visite the princes and the Kings children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparell.(Geneva) Zep 1:8 Und am Tage des Schlachtopfers des HERRN will ich heimsuchen die Fürsten und des Königs Kinder und alle, die ein fremdes Kleid tragen.(dhs) Zep 1:8 "And it shall be, In the day of the Lord's sacrifice, That I will punish the princes and the king's children, And all such as are clothed with foreign apparel.(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:9 ============ Zep 1:9 "And I will punish on that day all who leap on the temple threshold, Who fill the house of their lord with violence and deceit. (nas) Zep 1:9 καὶ ἐκδικήσω ἐπὶ πάντας ἐμφανῶς ἐπὶ τὰ πρόπυλα ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοὺς πληροῦντας τὸν οἶκον κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ αὐτῶν ἀσεβείας καὶ δόλου (lxx) Zep 1:9 et visitabo super omnem qui arroganter ingreditur super limen in die illa, qui complent domum Domini Dei sui iniquitate et dolo.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:9 In the same day also will I visite all those that dance vpon the threshold so proudly, which fill their masters houses by crueltie and deceite.(Geneva) Zep 1:9 Auch will ich zur selben Zeit die heimsuchen, so über die Schwelle springen, die ihres HERRN Haus füllen mit Rauben und Trügen.(dhs) Zep 1:9 In the same day I will punish All those who leap over the threshold, Who fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:10 ============ Zep 1:10 "On that day," declares the Lord, "There will be the sound of a cry from the Fish Gate, A wail from the Second Quarter, And a loud crash from the hills. (nas) Zep 1:10 καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ λέγει κύριος φωνὴ κραυγῆς ἀπὸ πύλης ἀποκεντούντων καὶ ὀλολυγμὸς ἀπὸ τῆς δευτέρας καὶ συντριμμὸς μέγας ἀπὸ τῶν βουνῶν (lxx) Zep 1:10 Et erit in die illa, dicit Dominus, vox clamoris a porta piscium, et ululatus a Secunda, et contritio magna a collibus.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:10 And in that day, saith the Lord, there shall be a noise, and cry from the fishgate, and an howling from the second gate, and a great destruction from the hilles.(Geneva) Zep 1:10 Zur selben Zeit, spricht der HERR, wird sich ein lautes Geschrei erheben von dem Fischtor her und ein Geheul von dem andern Teil der Stadt und ein großer Jammer von den Hügeln.(dhs) Zep 1:10 "And there shall be on that day," says the Lord, "The sound of a mournful cry from the Fish Gate, A wailing from the Second Quarter, And a loud crashing from the hills.(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:11 ============ Zep 1:11 "Wail, O inhabitants of the Mortar, For all the people of Canaan will be silenced; All who weigh out silver will be cut off. (nas) Zep 1:11 θρηνήσατε οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὴν κατακεκομμένην ὅτι ὡμοιώθη πᾶς ὁ λαὸς Χανααν ἐξωλεθρεύθησαν πάντες οἱ ἐπηρμένοι ἀργυρίῳ (lxx) Zep 1:11 Ululate, habitatores Pilæ: conticuit omnis populus Chanaan, disperierunt omnes involuti argento.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:11 Howle ye inhabitants of the lowe place: for the companie of the marchants is destroyed: all they that beare siluer, are cut off.(Geneva) Zep 1:11 Heulet, die ihr in der Mühle wohnt; denn das ganze Krämervolk ist dahin, und alle, die Geld sammeln, sind ausgerottet.(dhs) Zep 1:11 Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh! For all the merchant people are cut down; All those who handle money are cut off.(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:12 ============ Zep 1:12 "It will come about at that time That I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And I will punish the men Who are stagnant in spirit, Who say in their hearts, 'The Lord will not do good or evil!'(nas) Zep 1:12 καὶ ἔσται ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐξερευνήσω τὴν Ιερουσαλημ μετὰ λύχνου καὶ ἐκδικήσω ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄνδρας τοὺς καταφρονοῦντας ἐπὶ τὰ φυλάγματα αὐτῶν οἱ λέγοντες ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις αὐτῶν οὐ μὴ ἀγαθοποιήσῃ κύριος οὐδ᾽ οὐ μὴ κακώσῃ (lxx) Zep 1:12 Et erit in tempore illo: scrutabor Jerusalem in lucernis, et visitabo super viros defixos in fæcibus suis, qui dicunt in cordibus suis: Non faciet bene Dominus, et non faciet male.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:12 And at that time will I searche Ierusalem with lightes, and visite the men that are frosen in their dregges, & say in their heartes, The Lord will neither doe good nor doe euill.(Geneva) Zep 1:12 Zur selben Zeit will ich Jerusalem mit Leuchten durchsuchen und will heimsuchen die Leute, die auf ihren Hefen liegen und sprechen in ihrem Herzen: Der HERR wird weder Gutes noch Böses tun.(dhs) Zep 1:12 "And it shall come to pass at that time That I will search Jerusalem with lamps, And punish the men Who are settled in complacency, Who say in their heart, 'The Lord will not do good, Nor will He do evil.'(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:13 ============ Zep 1:13 "Moreover, their wealth will become plunder And their houses desolate; Yes, they will build houses but not inhabit them, And plant vineyards but not drink their wine."(nas) Zep 1:13 καὶ ἔσται ἡ δύναμις αὐτῶν εἰς διαρπαγὴν καὶ οἱ οἶκοι αὐτῶν εἰς ἀφανισμόν καὶ οἰκοδομήσουσιν οἰκίας καὶ οὐ μὴ κατοικήσουσιν ἐν αὐταῖς καὶ καταφυτεύσουσιν ἀμπελῶνας καὶ οὐ μὴ πίωσιν τὸν οἶνον αὐτῶν (lxx) Zep 1:13 Et erit fortitudo eorum in direptionem, et domus eorum in desertum: et ædificabunt domos, et non habitabunt; et plantabunt vineas, et non bibent vinum earum.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:13 Therefore their goods shall be spoyled, and their houses waste: they shall also build houses, but not inhabite them, and they shall plant vineyards, but not drinke the wine thereof.(Geneva) Zep 1:13 Und ihre Güter sollen zum Raub werden und ihre Häuser zur Wüste. (nas) Zep 1:17 καὶ ἐκθλίψω τοὺς ἀνθρώπους καὶ πορεύσονται ὡς τυφλοί ὅτι τῷ κυρίῳ ἐξήμαρτον καὶ ἐκχεεῖ τὸ αἷμα αὐτῶν ὡς χοῦν καὶ τὰς σάρκας αὐτῶν ὡς βόλβιτα (lxx) Zep 1:17 Et tribulabo homines, et ambulabunt ut cæci, quia Domino peccaverunt; et effundetur sanguis eorum sicut humus, et corpora eorum sicut stercora.(vulgate) Zephaniah 1:17 And I will bring distresse vpon men, that they shall walke like blind men, because they haue sinned against the Lorde, and their blood shall be powred out as dust, and their flesh as the dongue.(Geneva) Zep 1:17 Ich will den Leuten bange machen, daß sie umhergehen sollen wie die Blinden, darum daß sie wider den HERRN gesündigt haben. Ihr Blut soll ausgeschüttet werden, als wäre es Staub, und ihr Leib als wäre es Kot.(dhs) Zep 1:17 "I will bring distress upon men, And they shall walk like blind men, Because they have sinned against the Lord; Their blood shall be poured out like dust, And their flesh like refuse."(nkjv) ======= Zephaniah 1:18 ============ Zep 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold Will be able to deliver them On the day of the Lord's wrath; And all the earth will be devoured In the fire of His jealousy, For He will make a complete end, Indeed a terrifying one, Of all the inhabitants of the earth.
