And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:2 ============ Gen 16:2 So Sarai said to Abram, "Now behold, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Please go in to my maid; perhaps I will obtain children through her." And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.(nasb) Gen 16:2 dixit marito suo: Ecce, conclusit me Dominus, ne parerem. Ingredere ad ancillam meam, si forte saltem ex illa suscipiam filios. Cumque ille acquiesceret deprecanti,(vulgate) Génesis 16:2 Dijo, pues, Sarai a Abram: Ya ves que Jehová me ha hecho estéril; te ruego que entres a mi sierva; quizá tendré hijos de ella. Y atendió Abram al dicho de Sarai.(E) Genèse 16:2 Et Saraï dit à Abram: Voici, l'Eternel m'a rendue stérile; viens, je te prie, vers ma servante; peut-être aurai-je par elle des enfants. Abram écouta la voix de Saraï.(F) Gen 16:2 Und sie sprach zu Abram: Siehe, der HERR hat mich verschlossen, daß ich nicht gebären kann. Gehe doch zu meiner Magd, ob ich vielleicht aus ihr mich aufbauen möge. Und Abram gehorchte der Stimme Sarais.(D) Gen 16:2 εἶπεν δὲ Σαρα πρὸς Αβραμ ἰδοὺ συνέκλεισέν με κύριος τοῦ μὴ τίκτειν εἴσελθε οὖν πρὸς τὴν παιδίσκην μου ἵνα τεκνοποιήσῃς ἐξ αὐτῆς ὑπήκουσεν δὲ Αβραμ τῆς φωνῆς Σαρας(lxx) Gen 16:2 So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:3 ============ Gen 16:3 After Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Abram's wife Sarai took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife.(nasb) Gen 16:3 tulit Agar ægyptiam ancillam suam post annos decem quam habitare cœperant in terra Chanaan: et dedit eam viro suo uxorem.(vulgate) Génesis 16:3 Y Sarai, esposa de Abram, tomó a Agar su sierva egipcia, al cabo de diez años que había habitado Abram en la tierra de Canaán, y la dio a Abram su marido por esposa.(E) Genèse 16:3 Alors Saraï, femme d'Abram, prit Agar, l'Egyptienne, sa servante, et la donna pour femme à Abram, son mari, après qu'Abram eut habité dix années dans le pays de Canaan.(F) Gen 16:3 Da nahm Sarai, Abrams Weib, ihre ägyptische Magd, Hagar, und gab sie Abram, ihrem Mann, zum Weibe, nachdem sie zehn Jahre im Lande Kanaan gewohnt hatten.(D) Gen 16:3 καὶ λαβοῦσα Σαρα ἡ γυνὴ Αβραμ Αγαρ τὴν Αἰγυπτίαν τὴν ἑαυτῆς παιδίσκην μετὰ δέκα ἔτη τοῦ οἰκῆσαι Αβραμ ἐν γῇ Χανααν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν Αβραμ τῷ ἀνδρὶ αὐτῆς αὐτῷ γυναῖκα(lxx) Gen 16:3 Then Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:4 ============ Gen 16:4 He went in to Hagar, and she conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her sight.(nasb) Gen 16:4 Qui ingressus est ad eam. At illa concepisse se videns, despexit dominam suam.(vulgate) Génesis 16:4 Y él cohabitó con Agar, la cual concibió; y cuando vio que había concebido, miraba con desprecio a su señora.(E) Genèse 16:4 Il alla vers Agar, et elle devint enceinte. Quand elle se vit enceinte, elle regarda sa maîtresse avec mépris.(F) Gen 16:4 Und er ging zu Hagar, die ward schwanger. Als sie nun sah, daß sie schwanger war, achtete sie ihre Frau gering gegen sich.(D) Gen 16:4 καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς Αγαρ καὶ συνέλαβεν καὶ εἶδεν ὅτι ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχει καὶ ἠτιμάσθη ἡ κυρία ἐναντίον αὐτῆς(lxx) Gen 16:4 So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became despised in her eyes.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:5 ============ Gen 16:5 And Sarai said to Abram, "May the wrong done me be upon you. I gave my maid into your arms, but when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her sight. May the Lord judge between you and me."(nasb) Gen 16:5 Dixitque Sarai ad Abram: Inique agis contra me: ego dedi ancillam meam in sinum tuum, quæ videns quod conceperit, despectui me habet: judicet Dominus inter me et te.(vulgate) Génesis 16:5 Entonces Sarai dijo a Abram: Mi afrenta [sea] sobre ti; yo puse mi sierva en tu seno, y viéndose embarazada, me mira con desprecio; juzgue Jehová entre tú y yo.(E) Genèse 16:5 Et Saraï dit à Abram: L'outrage qui m'est fait retombe sur toi. J'ai mis ma servante dans ton sein; et, quand elle a vu qu'elle était enceinte, elle m'a regardée avec mépris. Que l'Eternel soit juge entre moi et toi!(F) Gen 16:5 Da sprach Sarai zu Abram: Du tust unrecht an mir. Ich habe meine Magd dir in die Arme gegeben; nun sie aber sieht, daß sie schwanger geworden ist, muß ich gering sein in ihren Augen. Der HERR sei Richter zwischen mir und dir.(D) Gen 16:5 εἶπεν δὲ Σαρα πρὸς Αβραμ ἀδικοῦμαι ἐκ σοῦ ἐγὼ δέδωκα τὴν παιδίσκην μου εἰς τὸν κόλπον σου ἰδοῦσα δὲ ὅτι ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχει ἠτιμάσθην ἐναντίον αὐτῆς κρίναι ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ(lxx) Gen 16:5 Then Sarai said to Abram, "My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. The Lord judge between you and me."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:6 ============ Gen 16:6 But Abram said to Sarai, "Behold, your maid is in your power; do to her what is good in your sight." So Sarai treated her harshly, and she fled from her presence.(nasb) Gen 16:6 Cui respondens Abram: Ecce, ait, ancilla tua in manu tua est, utere ea ut libet. Affligente igitur eam Sarai, fugam iniit.(vulgate) Génesis 16:6 Y respondió Abram a Sarai: He ahí tu sierva en tu mano, haz con ella lo que bien te pareciere. Y como Sarai la afligía, ella huyó de su presencia.(E) Genèse 16:6 Abram répondit à Saraï: Voici, ta servante est en ton pouvoir, agis à son égard comme tu le trouveras bon. Alors Saraï la maltraita; et Agar s'enfuit loin d'elle.(F) Gen 16:6 Abram aber sprach zu Sarai: Siehe, deine Magd ist unter deiner Gewalt; tue mit ihr, wie dir's gefällt. Da sie nun Sarai wollte demütigen, floh sie von ihr.(D) Gen 16:6 εἶπεν δὲ Αβραμ πρὸς Σαραν ἰδοὺ ἡ παιδίσκη σου ἐν ταῖς χερσίν σου χρῶ αὐτῇ ὡς ἄν σοι ἀρεστὸν ᾖ καὶ ἐκάκωσεν αὐτὴν Σαρα καὶ ἀπέδρα ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῆς(lxx) Gen 16:6 So Abram said to Sarai, "Indeed your maid is in your hand; do to her as you please." And when Sarai dealt harshly with her, she fled from her presence.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:7 ============ Gen 16:7 Now the angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.(nasb) Gen 16:7 Cumque invenisset eam angelus Domini juxta fontem aquæ in solitudine, qui est in via Sur in deserto,(vulgate) Génesis 16:7 Y la halló el Ángel de Jehová junto a una fuente de agua en el desierto, junto a la fuente que está en el camino de Shur.(E) Genèse 16:7 L'ange de l'Eternel la trouva près d'une source d'eau dans le désert, près de la source qui est sur le chemin de Schur.(F) Gen 16:7 Aber der Engel des HERRN fand sie bei einem Wasserbrunnen in der Wüste, nämlich bei dem Brunnen am Wege gen Sur.(D) Gen 16:7 εὗρεν δὲ αὐτὴν ἄγγελος κυρίου ἐπὶ τῆς πηγῆς τοῦ ὕδατος ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἐπὶ τῆς πηγῆς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ Σουρ(lxx) Gen 16:7 Now the Angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:8 ============ Gen 16:8 He said, "Hagar, Sarai's maid, where have you come from and where are you going?" And she said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai."(nasb) Gen 16:8 dixit ad illam: Agar ancilla Sarai, unde venis? et quo vadis? Quæ respondit: A facie Sarai dominæ meæ ego fugio.(vulgate) Génesis 16:8 Y le dijo: Agar, sierva de Sarai, ¿de dónde vienes tú, y a dónde vas? Y ella respondió: Huyo de delante de Sarai mi señora.(E) Genèse 16:8 Il dit: Agar, servante de Saraï, d'où viens-tu, et où vas-tu? Elle répondit: Je fuis loin de Saraï, ma maîtresse.(F) Gen 16:8 Der sprach zu ihr: Hagar, Sarais Magd, wo kommst du her, und wo willst du hin? Sie sprach: Ich bin von meiner Frau Sarai geflohen.(D) Gen 16:8 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου Αγαρ παιδίσκη Σαρας πόθεν ἔρχῃ καὶ ποῦ πορεύῃ καὶ εἶπεν ἀπὸ προσώπου Σαρας τῆς κυρίας μου ἐγὼ ἀποδιδράσκω(lxx) Gen 16:8 And He said, "Hagar, Sarai's maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?" She said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:9 ============ Gen 16:9 Then the angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself to her authority."(nasb) Gen 16:9 Dixitque ei angelus Domini: Revertere ad dominam tuam, et humiliare sub manu illius.(vulgate) Génesis 16:9 Y le dijo el Ángel de Jehová: Vuélvete a tu señora, y ponte sumisa bajo de su mano.(E) Genèse 16:9 L'ange de l'Eternel lui dit: Retourne vers ta maîtresse, et humilie-toi sous sa main.(F) Gen 16:9 Und der Engel des HERRN sprach zu ihr: Kehre wieder um zu deiner Frau, und demütige dich unter ihre Hand.(D) Gen 16:9 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῇ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἀποστράφητι πρὸς τὴν κυρίαν σου καὶ ταπεινώθητι ὑπὸ τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῆς(lxx) Gen 16:9 The Angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:10 ============ Gen 16:10 Moreover, the angel of the Lord said to her, "I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be too many to count."(nasb) Gen 16:10 Et rursum: Multiplicans, inquit, multiplicabo semen tuum, et non numerabitur præ multitudine.(vulgate) Génesis 16:10 Le dijo también el Ángel de Jehová: Multiplicaré tanto tu descendencia, que no será contada a causa de la multitud.(E) Genèse 16:10 L'ange de l'Eternel lui dit: Je multiplierai ta postérité, et elle sera si nombreuse qu'on ne pourra la compter.(F) Gen 16:10 Und der Engel des HERRN sprach zu ihr: Ich will deinen Samen also mehren, daß er vor großer Menge nicht soll gezählt werden.(D) Gen 16:10 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου πληθύνων πληθυνῶ τὸ σπέρμα σου καὶ οὐκ ἀριθμηθήσεται ἀπὸ τοῦ πλήθους(lxx) Gen 16:10 Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, "I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude."(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:11 ============ Gen 16:11 The angel of the Lord said to her further, "Behold, you are with child, And you will bear a son; And you shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has given heed to your affliction.(nasb) Gen 16:11 Ac deinceps: Ecce, ait, concepisti, et paries filium: vocabisque nomen ejus Ismaël, eo quod audierit Dominus afflictionem tuam.(vulgate) Génesis 16:11 Le dijo también el Ángel de Jehová: He aquí que has concebido, y darás a luz un hijo, y llamarás su nombre Ismael, porque Jehová ha oído tu aflicción.(E) Genèse 16:11 L'ange de l'Eternel lui dit: Voici, tu es enceinte, et tu enfanteras un fils, à qui tu donneras le nom d'Ismaël; car l'Eternel t'a entendue dans ton affliction.(F) Gen 16:11 Weiter sprach der Engel des HERRN zu ihr: Siehe, du bist schwanger geworden und wirst einen Sohn gebären, des namen sollst du Ismael heißen, darum daß der HERR dein Elend erhört hat.(D) Gen 16:11 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἰδοὺ σὺ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχεις καὶ τέξῃ υἱὸν καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ισμαηλ ὅτι ἐπήκουσεν κύριος τῇ ταπεινώσει σου(lxx) Gen 16:11 And the Angel of the Lord said to her: "Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. Dixit enim: Profecto hic vidi posteriora videntis me.(vulgate) Génesis 16:13 Entonces llamó el nombre de Jehová que con ella hablaba: Tú Dios [me] ves; porque dijo: ¿No he visto también aquí al que me ve?(E) Genèse 16:13 Elle appela Atta-El-roï le nom de l'Eternel qui lui avait parlé; car elle dit: Ai-je rien vu ici, après qu'il m'a vue?(F) Gen 16:13 Und sie hieß den Namen des HERRN, der mit ihr redete: Du Gott siehst mich. Denn sie sprach: Gewiß habe ich hier gesehen den, der mich hernach angesehen hat.(D) Gen 16:13 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Αγαρ τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου τοῦ λαλοῦντος πρὸς αὐτήν σὺ ὁ θεὸς ὁ ἐπιδών με ὅτι εἶπεν καὶ γὰρ ἐνώπιον εἶδον ὀφθέντα μοι(lxx) Gen 16:13 Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, "Have I also here seen Him who sees me?"(nkjv) ======= Genesis 16:14 ============ Gen 16:14 Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.(nasb) Gen 16:14 Propterea appellavit puteum illum Puteum viventis et videntis me. Ipse est inter Cades et Barad.(vulgate) Génesis 16:14 Por lo cual llamó al pozo, Pozo del Viviente que me ve.
