Today's Date: ======= Ruth 4:1 ============ Rut 4:1 Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there, and behold, the close relative of whom Boaz spoke was passing by, so he said, "Turn aside, friend, sit down here." And he turned aside and sat down.(nasb) Rut 4:1 Ascendit ergo Booz ad portam, et sedit ibi. Cumque vidisset propinquum præterire, de quo prius sermo habitus est, dixit ad eum: Declina paulisper, et sede hic: vocans eum nomine suo. Qui divertit, et sedit.(vulgate) Rut 4:1 Y Boaz subió a la puerta y se sentó allí; y he aquí pasaba aquel pariente redentor del cual Boaz había hablado, y le dijo: Eh, fulano, ven acá y siéntate. Y él vino, y se sentó.(E) Ruth 4:1 Boaz monta à la porte, et s'y arrêta. Or voici, celui qui avait droit de rachat, et dont Boaz avait parlé, vint à passer. So Boaz said, "Come aside, friend, sit down here." So he came aside and sat down.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:2 ============ Rut 4:2 He took ten men of the elders of the city and said, "Sit down here." So they sat down.(nasb) Rut 4:2 Tollens autem Booz decem viros de senioribus civitatis, dixit ad eos: Sedete hic.(vulgate) Rut 4:2 Entonces él tomó diez varones de los ancianos de la ciudad, y dijo: Sentaos aquí. Y ellos se sentaron.(E) Ruth 4:2 Boaz prit alors dix hommes parmi les anciens de la ville, et il dit: Asseyez-vous ici. So they sat down.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:3 ============ Rut 4:3 Then he said to the closest relative, "Naomi, who has come back from the land of Moab, has to sell the piece of land which belonged to our brother Elimelech.(nasb) Rut 4:3 Quibus sedentibus, locutus est ad propinquum: Partem agri fratris nostri Elimelech vendet Noëmi, quæ reversa est de regione Moabitide:(vulgate) Rut 4:3 Luego dijo al pariente redentor: Noemí, que ha vuelto del campo de Moab, vende una parte de las tierras que [tuvo] nuestro hermano Elimelec;(E) Ruth 4:3 Puis il dit à celui qui avait le droit de rachat: Naomi, revenue du pays de Moab, a vendu la pièce de terre qui appartenait à notre frère Elimélec.(F) Rut 4:3 Da sprach er zu dem Erben: Naemi, die vom Lande der Moabiter wiedergekommen ist, bietet feil das Stück Feld, das unsers Bruders war, Elimelechs.(D) Rut 4:3 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος τῷ ἀγχιστεῖ τὴν μερίδα τοῦ ἀγροῦ ἥ ἐστιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ ἡμῶν τοῦ Αβιμελεχ ἣ δέδοται Νωεμιν τῇ ἐπιστρεφούσῃ ἐξ ἀγροῦ Μωαβ(lxx) Rut 4:3 Then he said to the close relative, "Naomi, who has come back from the country of Moab, sold the piece of land which belonged to our brother Elimelech.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:4 ============ Rut 4:4 So I thought to inform you, saying, 'Buy it before those who are sitting here, and before the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if not, tell me that I may know; for there is no one but you to redeem it, and I am after you.'" And he said, "I will redeem it."(nasb) Rut 4:4 quod audire te volui, et tibi dicere coram cunctis sedentibus, et majoribus natu de populo meo. Si vis possidere jure propinquitatis, eme, et posside: sin autem displicet tibi, hoc ipsum indica mihi, ut sciam quid facere debeam: nullus enim est propinquus, excepto te, qui prior es, et me, qui secundus sum. At ille respondit: Ego agrum emam.(vulgate) Rut 4:4 y yo decidí hacértelo saber, y decirte que la tomes delante de los que están aquí sentados, y delante de los ancianos de mi pueblo. Si quieres redimir, redime; y si no quieres redimir, dímelo para que yo lo sepa; porque no [hay] otro que redima sino tú, y yo después de ti. Y él respondió: Yo redimiré.(E) Ruth 4:4 J'ai cru devoir t'en informer, et te dire: Acquiers-la, en présence des habitants et en présence des anciens de mon peuple. Si tu veux racheter, rachète; mais si tu ne veux pas, déclare-le-moi, afin que je le sache. Car il n'y a personne avant toi qui ait le droit de rachat, et je l'ai après toi. Et il répondit: je rachèterai.(F) Rut 4:4 Darum gedachte ich's vor deine Ohren zu bringen und zu sagen: Willst du es beerben, so kaufe es vor den Bürgern und vor den Ältesten meines Volkes; willst du es aber nicht beerben, so sage mir's, daß ich's wisse. Denn es ist kein Erbe außer dir und ich nach dir. Er sprach: Ich will's beerben.(D) Rut 4:4 κἀγὼ εἶπα ἀποκαλύψω τὸ οὖς σου λέγων κτῆσαι ἐναντίον τῶν καθημένων καὶ ἐναντίον τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ μου εἰ ἀγχιστεύεις ἀγχίστευε εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀγχιστεύεις ἀνάγγειλόν μοι καὶ γνώσομαι ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν πάρεξ σοῦ τοῦ ἀγχιστεῦσαι κἀγώ εἰμι μετὰ σέ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώ εἰμι ἀγχιστεύσω(lxx) Rut 4:4 And I thought to inform you, saying, 'Buy it back in the presence of the inhabitants and the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know; for there is no one but you to redeem it, and I am next after you.' " And he said, "I will redeem it."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:5 ============ Rut 4:5 Then Boaz said, "On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also acquire Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of the deceased, in order to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance."(nasb) Rut 4:5 Cui dixit Booz: Quando emeris agrum de manu mulieris, Ruth quoque Moabitidem, quæ uxor defuncti fuit, debes accipere: ut suscites nomen propinqui tui in hæreditate sua.(vulgate) Rut 4:5 Entonces replicó Boaz: El mismo día que compres las tierras de mano de Noemí, debes tomar también a Ruth la moabita, esposa del difunto, para que restaures el nombre del muerto sobre su heredad.(E) Ruth 4:5 Boaz dit: Le jour où tu acquerras le champ de la main de Naomi, tu l'acquerras en même temps de Ruth la Moabite, femme du défunt, pour relever le nom du défunt dans son héritage.(F) Rut 4:5 Boas sprach: Welches Tages du das Feld kaufst von der Hand Naemis, so mußt du auch Rut die Moabitin, des Verstorbenen Weib, nehmen, daß du dem Verstorbenen einen Namen erweckst auf seinem Erbteil.(D) Rut 4:5 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ κτήσασθαί σε τὸν ἀγρὸν ἐκ χειρὸς Νωεμιν καὶ παρὰ Ρουθ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος γυναικὸς τοῦ τεθνηκότος καὶ αὐτὴν κτήσασθαί σε δεῖ ὥστε ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐπὶ τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ(lxx) Rut 4:5 Then Boaz said, "On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also buy it from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to perpetuate the name of the dead through his inheritance."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:6 ============ Rut 4:6 The closest relative said, "I cannot redeem it for myself, because I would jeopardize my own inheritance. Redeem it for yourself; you may have my right of redemption, for I cannot redeem it."(nasb) Rut 4:6 Qui respondit: Cedo juri propinquitatis: neque enim posteritatem familiæ meæ delere debeo: tu meo utere privilegio, quo me libenter carere profiteor.(vulgate) Rut 4:6 Y respondió el pariente: No puedo redimir para mí, porque dañaría mi heredad; redime tú, usando de mi derecho, porque yo no podré redimir.(E) Ruth 4:6 Et celui qui avait le droit de rachat répondit: Je ne puis pas racheter pour mon compte, crainte de détruire mon héritage; prends pour toi mon droit de rachat, car je ne puis pas racheter.(F) Rut 4:6 Da sprach er: Ich vermag es nicht zu beerben, daß ich nicht vielleicht mein Erbteil verderbe. Beerbe du, was ich beerben soll; denn ich vermag es nicht zu beerben.(D) Rut 4:6 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀγχιστεύς οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι ἐμαυτῷ μήποτε διαφθείρω τὴν κληρονομίαν μου ἀγχίστευσον σεαυτῷ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν μου ὅτι οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι(lxx) Rut 4:6 And the close relative said, "I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I ruin my own inheritance. You redeem my right of redemption for yourself, for I cannot redeem it."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:7 ============ Rut 4:7 Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning the redemption and the exchange of land to confirm any matter: a man removed his sandal and gave it to another; and this was the manner of attestation in Israel.(nasb) Rut 4:7 Hic autem erat mos antiquitus in Israël inter propinquos, ut siquando alter alteri suo juri cedebat, ut esset firma concessio, solvebat homo calceamentum suum, et dabat proximo suo: hoc erat testimonium cessionis in Israël.(vulgate) Rut 4:7 Y en tiempos pasados había esta [costumbre] en Israel tocante a la redención o contrato, que para confirmar cualquier asunto, uno se quitaba el zapato y lo daba a su compañero; y éste [era] el testimonio en Israel.(E) Ruth 4:7 Autrefois en Israël, pour valider une affaire quelconque relative à un rachat ou à un échange, l'un ôtait son soulier et le donnait à l'autre: cela servait de témoignage en Israël.(F) Rut 4:7 Und es war von alters her eine solche Gewohnheit in Israel: wenn einer ein Gut nicht beerben noch erkaufen wollte, auf daß eine Sache bestätigt würde, so zog er seinen Schuh aus und gab ihn dem andern; das war das Zeugnis in Israel.(D) Rut 4:7 καὶ τοῦτο τὸ δικαίωμα ἔμπροσθεν ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ ἀντάλλαγμα τοῦ στῆσαι πᾶν λόγον καὶ ὑπελύετο ὁ ἀνὴρ τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐδίδου τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ τῷ ἀγχιστεύοντι τὴν ἀγχιστείαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῦτο ἦν μαρτύριον ἐν Ισραηλ(lxx) Rut 4:7 Now this was the custom in former times in Israel concerning redeeming and exchanging, to confirm anything: one man took off his sandal and gave it to the other, and this was a confirmation in Israel.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:8 ============ Rut 4:8 So the closest relative said to Boaz, "Buy it for yourself." And he removed his sandal.(nasb) Rut 4:8 Dixit ergo propinquo suo Booz: Tolle calceamentum tuum. Quod statim solvit de pede suo.(vulgate) Rut 4:8 Entonces el pariente dijo a Boaz: Tómalo tú. Y se quitó su zapato.(E) Ruth 4:8 Celui qui avait le droit de rachat dit donc à Boaz: Acquiers pour ton compte! Et il ôta son soulier.(F) Rut 4:8 Und der Erbe sprach zu Boas: Kaufe du es! und zog seinen Schuh aus.(D) Rut 4:8 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀγχιστεὺς τῷ Βοος κτῆσαι σεαυτῷ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν μου καὶ ὑπελύσατο τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ(lxx) Rut 4:8 Therefore the close relative said to Boaz, "Buy it for yourself." So he took off his sandal.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:9 ============ Rut 4:9 Then Boaz said to the elders and all the people, "You are witnesses today that I have bought from the hand of Naomi all that belonged to Elimelech and all that belonged to Chilion and Mahlon.(nasb) Rut 4:9 At ille majoribus natu, et universo populo: Testes vos, inquit, estis hodie, quod possederim omnis quæ fuerunt Elimelech, et Chelion, et Mahalon, tradente Noëmi;(vulgate) Rut 4:9 Y Boaz dijo a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros [sois] testigos hoy de que tomo todas las cosas que [fueron] de Elimelec, y todo lo que [fue] de Quilión y de Mahalón, de mano de Noemí.(E) Ruth 4:9 Alors Boaz dit aux anciens et à tout le peuple: Vous êtes témoins aujourd'hui que j'ai acquis de la main de Naomi tout ce qui appartenait à Elimélec, à Kiljon et à Machlon,(F) Rut 4:9 Und Boas sprach zu den Ältesten und zu allem Volk: Ihr seid heute Zeugen, daß ich alles gekauft habe, was dem Elimelech, und alles, was Chiljon und Mahlon gehört hat, von der Hand Naemis;(D) Rut 4:9 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις καὶ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ μάρτυρες ὑμεῖς σήμερον ὅτι κέκτημαι πάντα τὰ τοῦ Αβιμελεχ καὶ πάντα ὅσα ὑπάρχει τῷ Χελαιων καὶ τῷ Μααλων ἐκ χειρὸς Νωεμιν(lxx) Rut 4:9 And Boaz said to the elders and all the people, "You are witnesses this day that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, from the hand of Naomi.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:10 ============ Rut 4:10 Moreover, I have acquired Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, to be my wife in order to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance, so that the name of the deceased will not be cut off from his brothers or from the court of his birth place; you are witnesses today."(nasb) Rut 4:10 et Ruth Moabitidem, uxorem Mahalon, in conjugium sumpserim, ut suscitem nomen defuncti in hæreditate sua, ne vocabulum ejus de familia sua ac fratribus et populo deleatur. Vos, inquam, hujus rei testes estis.(vulgate) Rut 4:10 Y que también tomo por mi esposa a Ruth la moabita, esposa de Mahalón, para restaurar el nombre del difunto sobre su heredad, para que el nombre del muerto no se borre de entre sus hermanos y de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros [sois] testigos hoy.(E) Ruth 4:10 et que je me suis également acquis pour femme Ruth la Moabite, femme de Machlon, pour relever le nom du défunt dans son héritage, et afin que le nom du défunt ne soit point retranché d'entre ses frères et de la porte de son lieu. Vous en êtes témoins aujourd'hui!(F) Rut 4:10 dazu auch Rut die Moabitin, Mahlons Weib, habe ich mir erworben zum Weibe, daß ich dem Verstorbenen einen Namen erwecke auf sein Erbteil und sein Name nicht ausgerottet werde unter seinen Brüdern und aus dem Tor seines Orts; Zeugen seid ihr des heute.(D) Rut 4:10 καί γε Ρουθ τὴν Μωαβῖτιν τὴν γυναῖκα Μααλων κέκτημαι ἐμαυτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐπὶ τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐξολεθρευθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς λαοῦ αὐτοῦ μάρτυρες ὑμεῖς σήμερον(lxx) Rut 4:10 Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, I have acquired as my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead through his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren and from his position at the gate. You are witnesses this day."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:11 ============ Rut 4:11 All the people who were in the court, and the elders, said, "We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is coming into your home like Rachel and Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel; and may you achieve wealth in Ephrathah and become famous in Bethlehem.(nasb) Rut 4:11 Respondit omnis populus, qui erat in porta, et majores natu: Nos testes sumus: faciat Dominus hanc mulierem, quæ ingreditur domum tuam, sicut Rachel et Liam, quæ ædificaverunt domum Israël: ut sit exemplum virtutis in Ephratha, et habeat celebre nomen in Bethlehem:(vulgate) Rut 4:11 Y dijeron todos los del pueblo que [estaban] a la puerta con los ancianos: Testigos [somos]. Jehová haga a la mujer que entra en tu casa como a Raquel y a Lea, las cuales edificaron la casa de Israel; y tú seas ilustre en Efrata, y seas de renombre en Belén;(E) Ruth 4:11 Tout le peuple qui était à la porte et les anciens dirent: Nous en sommes témoins! Que l'Eternel rende la femme qui entre dans ta maison semblable à Rachel et à Léa, qui toutes les deux ont bâti la maison d'Israël! Manifeste ta force dans Ephrata, et fais-toi un nom dans Bethléhem!(F) Rut 4:11 Und alles Volk, das im Tor war, samt den Ältesten sprachen: Wir sind Zeugen. Der HERR mache das Weib, das in dein Haus kommt, wie Rahel und Leah, die beide das Haus Israels gebaut haben; und wachse sehr in Ephratha und werde gepriesen zu Bethlehem.(D) Rut 4:11 καὶ εἴποσαν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς οἱ ἐν τῇ πύλῃ μάρτυρες καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι εἴποσαν δῴη κύριος τὴν γυναῖκά σου τὴν εἰσπορευομένην εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου ὡς Ραχηλ καὶ ὡς Λειαν αἳ ᾠκοδόμησαν ἀμφότεραι τὸν οἶκον Ισραηλ καὶ ἐποίησαν δύναμιν ἐν Εφραθα καὶ ἔσται ὄνομα ἐν Βαιθλεεμ(lxx) Rut 4:11 And all the people who were at the gate, and the elders, said, "We are witnesses. The Lord make the woman who is coming to your house like Rachel and Leah, the two who built the house of Israel; and may you prosper in Ephrathah and be famous in Bethlehem.(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:12 ============ Rut 4:12 Moreover, may your house be like the house of Perez whom Tamar bore to Judah, through the offspring which the Lord will give you by this young woman."(nasb) Rut 4:12 fiatque domus tua sicut domus Phares, quem Thamar peperit Judæ, de semine quod tibi dederit Dominus ex hac puella.~(vulgate) Rut 4:12 Y de la simiente que Jehová te diere de esta joven, sea tu casa como la casa de Fares, el que Tamar dio a luz a Judá.(E) Ruth 4:12 Puisse la postérité que l'Eternel te donnera par cette jeune femme rendre ta maison semblable à la maison de Pérets, qui fut enfanté à Juda par Tamar!(F) Rut 4:12 Und dein Haus werde wie das Haus des Perez, den Thamar dem Juda gebar, von dem Samen, den dir der HERR geben wird von dieser Dirne.(D) Rut 4:12 καὶ γένοιτο ὁ οἶκός σου ὡς ὁ οἶκος Φαρες ὃν ἔτεκεν Θαμαρ τῷ Ιουδα ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος οὗ δώσει κύριός σοι ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης(lxx) Rut 4:12 May your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring which the Lord will give you from this young woman."(nkjv) ======= Ruth 4:13 ============ Rut 4:13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in to her. And the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.(nasb) Rut 4:13 Tulit itaque Booz Ruth, et accepit uxorem: ingressusque est ad eam, et dedit illi Dominus ut conciperet, et pareret filium.(vulgate) Rut 4:13 Boaz, pues, tomó a Ruth, y ella fue su esposa; y luego que entró a ella, Jehová le dio que concibiese y diese a luz un hijo.(E) Ruth 4:13 Boaz prit Ruth, qui devint sa femme, et il alla vers elle. L'Eternel permit à Ruth de concevoir, et elle enfanta un fils.(F) Rut 4:13 Also nahm Boas die Rut daß sie sein Weib ward.
