Today's Date: ======= Jeremiah 20:1 ============ Jer 20:1 When Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, who was chief officer in the house of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things,(nasb) Jer 20:1 Et audivit Phassur filius Emmer, sacerdos, qui constitutus erat princeps in domo Domini, Jeremiam prophetantem sermones istos.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:1 Y el sacerdote Pasur, hijo de Imer, que era oficial principal en la casa de Jehová, oyó a Jeremías que profetizaba estas palabras.(E) Jérémie 20:1 Paschhur, fils d'Immer, sacrificateur et inspecteur en chef dans la maison de l'Eternel, entendit Jérémie qui prophétisait ces choses.(F) Jer 20:1 Da aber Pashur, ein Sohn Immers, der Priester, der zum Obersten im Hause des HERRN gesetzt war, Jeremia hörte solche Worte weissagen,(D) Jer 20:1 καὶ ἤκουσεν Πασχωρ υἱὸς Εμμηρ ὁ ἱερεύς καὶ οὗτος ἦν καθεσταμένος ἡγούμενος οἴκου κυρίου τοῦ Ιερεμιου προφητεύοντος τοὺς λόγους τούτους(lxx) Jer 20:1 Now Pashhur the son of Immer, the priest who was also chief governor in the house of the Lord, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:2 ============ Jer 20:2 Pashhur had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put him in the stocks that were at the upper Benjamin Gate, which was by the house of the Lord.(nasb) Jer 20:2 Et percussit Phassur Jeremiam prophetam, et misit eum in nervum quod erat in porta Benjamin superiori, in domo Domini.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:2 Entonces Pasur azotó al profeta Jeremías, y lo puso en el cepo que [estaba] a la puerta superior de Benjamín, la cual [conducía] a la casa de Jehová.(E) Jérémie 20:2 Et Paschhur frappa Jérémie, le prophète, et le mit dans la prison qui était à la porte supérieure de Benjamin, dans la maison de l'Eternel.(F) Jer 20:2 schlug er den Propheten Jeremia und legte ihn in den Stock unter dem Obertor Benjamin, welches am Hause des HERRN ist.(D) Jer 20:2 καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν καὶ ἐνέβαλεν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν καταρράκτην ὃς ἦν ἐν πύλῃ οἴκου ἀποτεταγμένου τοῦ ὑπερῴου ὃς ἦν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου(lxx) Jer 20:2 Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the Lord.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:3 ============ Jer 20:3 On the next day, when Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, "Pashhur is not the name the Lord has called you, but rather Magor-missabib.(nasb) Jer 20:3 Cumque illuxisset in crastinum, eduxit Phassur Jeremiam de nervo, et dixit ad eum Jeremias: Non Phassur vocavit Dominus nomen tuum, sed Pavorem undique.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:3 Y aconteció que el día siguiente Pasur sacó a Jeremías del cepo. Le dijo entonces Jeremías: Jehová no ha llamado tu nombre Pasur, sino Magormisabib.(E) Jérémie 20:3 Mais le lendemain, Paschhur fit sortir Jérémie de prison. Et Jérémie lui dit: Ce n'est pas le nom de Paschhur que l'Eternel te donne, c'est celui de Magor-Missabib.(F) Jer 20:3 Und da es Morgen ward, zog Pashur Jeremia aus dem Stock. Da sprach Jeremia zu ihm: Der HERR heißt dich nicht Pashur, sondern Schrecken um und um.(D) Jer 20:3 καὶ ἐξήγαγεν Πασχωρ τὸν Ιερεμιαν ἐκ τοῦ καταρράκτου καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ιερεμιας οὐχὶ Πασχωρ ἐκάλεσεν κύριος τὸ ὄνομά σου ἀλλ᾽ ἢ μέτοικον(lxx) Jer 20:3 And it happened on the next day that Pashhur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, "The Lord has not called your name Pashhur, but Magor-Missabib.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:4 ============ Jer 20:4 For thus says the Lord, 'Behold, I am going to make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; and while your eyes look on, they will fall by the sword of their enemies. So I will give over all Judah to the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away as exiles to Babylon and will slay them with the sword.(nasb) Jer 20:4 Quia hæc dicit Dominus: [Ecce ego dabo te in pavorem, te et omnes amicos tuos: et corruent gladio inimicorum suorum, et oculi tui videbunt: et omnem Judam dabo in manum regis Babylonis, et traducet eos in Babylonem, et percutiet eos gladio.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:4 Porque así dice Jehová: He aquí yo te pondré en espanto, a ti y a todos tus amigos, y caerán por la espada de sus enemigos, y tus ojos lo verán; y a todo Judá entregaré en mano del rey de Babilonia, y los trasportará a Babilonia, y los matará a espada.(E) Jérémie 20:4 Car ainsi parle l'Eternel: Voici, je te livrerai à la terreur, toi et tous tes amis; ils tomberont par l'épée de leurs ennemis, et tes yeux le verront. Je livrerai aussi tout Juda entre les mains du roi de Babylone, qui les emmènera captifs à Babylone et les frappera de l'épée.(F) Jer 20:4 Denn so spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will dich zum Schrecken machen dir selbst und allen deinen Freunden, und sie sollen fallen durchs Schwert ihrer Feinde; das sollst du mit deinen Augen sehen. Und will das ganze Juda in die Hand des Königs zu Babel übergeben; der soll euch wegführen gen Babel und mit dem Schwert töten.(D) Jer 20:4 διότι τάδε λέγει κύριος ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ δίδωμί σε εἰς μετοικίαν σὺν πᾶσι τοῖς φίλοις σου καὶ πεσοῦνται ἐν μαχαίρᾳ ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ὄψονται καὶ σὲ καὶ πάντα Ιουδαν δώσω εἰς χεῖρας βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος καὶ μετοικιοῦσιν αὐτοὺς καὶ κατακόψουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν μαχαίραις(lxx) Jer 20:4 For thus says the Lord: 'Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes shall see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive to Babylon and slay them with the sword.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:5 ============ Jer 20:5 I will also give over all the wealth of this city, all its produce and all its costly things; even all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give over to the hand of their enemies, and they will plunder them, take them away and bring them to Babylon.(nasb) Jer 20:5 Et dabo universam substantiam civitatis hujus, et omnem laborem ejus, omneque pretium, et cunctos thesauros regum Juda dabo in manu inimicorum eorum: et diripient eos, et tollent, et ducent in Babylonem.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:5 Entregaré también toda la riqueza de esta ciudad, y todo su trabajo, y todas sus cosas preciosas; y daré todos los tesoros de los reyes de Judá en manos de sus enemigos, y los saquearán, y los tomarán, y los llevarán a Babilonia.(E) Jérémie 20:5 Je livrerai toutes les richesses de cette ville, tout le produit de son travail, tout ce qu'elle a de précieux, je livrerai tous les trésors des rois de Juda entre les mains de leurs ennemis, qui les pilleront, les enlèveront et les transporteront à Babylone.(F) Jer 20:5 Auch will ich alle Güter dieser Stadt samt allem, was sie gearbeitet und alle Kleinode und alle Schätze der Könige Juda's in ihrer Feinde Hand geben, daß sie dieselben rauben, nehmen und gen Babel bringen.(D) Jer 20:5 καὶ δώσω τὴν πᾶσαν ἰσχὺν τῆς πόλεως ταύτης καὶ πάντας τοὺς πόνους αὐτῆς καὶ πάντας τοὺς θησαυροὺς τοῦ βασιλέως Ιουδα εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἄξουσιν αὐτοὺς εἰς Βαβυλῶνα(lxx) Jer 20:5 Moreover I will deliver all the wealth of this city, all its produce, and all its precious things; all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give into the hand of their enemies, who will plunder them, seize them, and carry them to Babylon.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:6 ============ Jer 20:6 And you, Pashhur, and all who live in your house will go into captivity; and you will enter Babylon, and there you will die and there you will be buried, you and all your friends to whom you have falsely prophesied.'"(nasb) Jer 20:6 Tu autem, Phassur, et omnes habitatores domus tuæ, ibitis in captivitatem: et in Babylonem venies, et ibi morieris, ibique sepelieris tu, et omnes amici tui, quibus prophetasti mendacium.]~(vulgate) Jeremías 20:6 Y tú, Pasur, y todos los moradores de tu casa iréis cautivos, y entrarás en Babilonia, y allí morirás, y allí serás enterrado tú, y todos tus amigos, a los cuales has profetizado con mentira.(E) Jérémie 20:6 Et toi, Paschhur, et tous ceux qui demeurent dans ta maison, vous irez en captivité; tu iras à Babylone, et là tu mourras, et là tu seras enterré, toi et tous tes amis auxquels tu as prophétisé le mensonge.(F) Jer 20:6 Und du, Pashur, sollst mit allen deinen Hausgenossen gefangen gehen und gen Babel kommen; daselbst sollst du sterben und begraben werden samt allen deinen Freunden, welchen du Lügen predigst.(D) Jer 20:6 καὶ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ κατοικοῦντες ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ σου πορεύσεσθε ἐν αἰχμαλωσίᾳ καὶ ἐν Βαβυλῶνι ἀποθανῇ καὶ ἐκεῖ ταφήσῃ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ φίλοι σου οἷς ἐπροφήτευσας αὐτοῖς ψευδῆ(lxx) Jer 20:6 And you, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house, shall go into captivity. You shall go to Babylon, and there you shall die, and be buried there, you and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied lies.' "(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:7 ============ Jer 20:7 O Lord, You have deceived me and I was deceived; You have overcome me and prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day long; Everyone mocks me.(nasb) Jer 20:7 [Seduxisti me, Domine, et seductus sum: fortior me fuisti, et invaluisti: factus sum in derisum tota die; omnes subsannant me.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:7 Me confundiste, oh Jehová, y fui confundido; más fuerte fuiste que yo, y me venciste; cada día he sido escarnecido; todos se burlan de mí.(E) Jérémie 20:7 Tu m'as persuadé, Eternel, et je me suis laissé persuader; Tu m'as saisi, tu m'as vaincu. Et je suis chaque jour un objet de raillerie, Tout le monde se moque de moi.(F) Jer 20:7 HERR, du hast mich überredet, und ich habe mich überreden lassen; du bist mir zu stark gewesen und hast gewonnen; aber ich bin darüber zum Spott geworden täglich, und jedermann verlacht mich.(D) Jer 20:7 ἠπάτησάς με κύριε καὶ ἠπατήθην ἐκράτησας καὶ ἠδυνάσθης ἐγενόμην εἰς γέλωτα πᾶσαν ἡμέραν διετέλεσα μυκτηριζόμενος(lxx) Jer 20:7 O Lord, You induced me, and I was persuaded; You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I am in derision daily; Everyone mocks me.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:8 ============ Jer 20:8 For each time I speak, I cry aloud; I proclaim violence and destruction, Because for me the word of the Lord has resulted In reproach and derision all day long.(nasb) Jer 20:8 Quia jam olim loquor, vociferans iniquitatem, et vastitatem clamito: et factus est mihi sermo Domini in opprobrium, et in derisum tota die.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:8 Porque desde que hablo, doy voces, grito: Violencia y destrucción; porque la palabra de Jehová me ha sido para afrenta y escarnio cada día.(E) Jérémie 20:8 Car toutes les fois que je parle, il faut que je crie, Que je crie à la violence et à l'oppression! Et la parole de l'Eternel est pour moi Un sujet d'opprobre et de risée chaque jour.(F) Jer 20:8 Denn seit ich geredet, gerufen und gepredigt habe von der Plage und Verstörung, ist mir des HERRN Wort zum Hohn und Spott geworden täglich.(D) Jer 20:8 ὅτι πικρῷ λόγῳ μου γελάσομαι ἀθεσίαν καὶ ταλαιπωρίαν ἐπικαλέσομαι ὅτι ἐγενήθη λόγος κυρίου εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν ἐμοὶ καὶ εἰς χλευασμὸν πᾶσαν ἡμέραν μου(lxx) Jer 20:8 For when I spoke, I cried out; I shouted, "Violence and plunder!" Because the word of the Lord was made to me A reproach and a derision daily.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:9 ============ Jer 20:9 But if I say, "I will not remember Him Or speak anymore in His name, "Then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am weary of holding it in, And I cannot endure it.(nasb) Jer 20:9 Et dixi: Non recordabor ejus, neque loquar ultra in nomine illius: et factus est in corde meo quasi ignis exæstuans, claususque in ossibus meis, et defeci, ferre non sustinens.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:9 Y dije: No me acordaré más de Él, ni hablaré más en su nombre: Pero [su palabra] fue en mi corazón como un fuego ardiente metido en mis huesos, traté de sufrirlo, y no pude.(E) Jérémie 20:9 Si je dis: Je ne ferai plus mention de lui, Je ne parlerai plus en son nom, Il y a dans mon coeur comme un feu dévorant Qui est renfermé dans mes os. Je m'efforce de le contenir, et je ne le puis.(F) Jer 20:9 Da dachte ich: Wohlan, ich will sein nicht mehr gedenken und nicht mehr in seinem Namen predigen. Aber es ward in meinem Herzen wie ein brennendes Feuer, in meinen Gebeinen verschlossen, daß ich's nicht leiden konnte und wäre fast vergangen.(D) Jer 20:9 καὶ εἶπα οὐ μὴ ὀνομάσω τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου καὶ οὐ μὴ λαλήσω ἔτι ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς πῦρ καιόμενον φλέγον ἐν τοῖς ὀστέοις μου καὶ παρεῖμαι πάντοθεν καὶ οὐ δύναμαι φέρειν(lxx) Jer 20:9 Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:10 ============ Jer 20:10 For I have heard the whispering of many," Terror on every side! Denounce him; yes, let us denounce him!" All my trusted friends, Watching for my fall, say:" Perhaps he will be deceived, so that we may prevail against him And take our revenge on him."(nasb) Jer 20:10 Audivi enim contumelias multorum, et terrorem in circuitu: Persequimini, et persequamur eum, ab omnibus viris qui erant pacifici mei, et custodientes latus meum: si quomodo decipiatur, et prævaleamus adversus eum, et consequamur ultionem ex eo.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:10 Porque oí la murmuración de muchos, temor de todas partes: Denunciad, y denunciaremos. Todos mis amigos miraban si claudicaría. Quizá se engañará, [decían], y prevaleceremos contra él, y tomaremos de él nuestra venganza.(E) Jérémie 20:10 Car j'apprends les mauvais propos de plusieurs, L'épouvante qui règne à l'entour: Accusez-le, et nous l'accuserons! Tous ceux qui étaient en paix avec moi Observent si je chancelle: Peut-être se laissera-t-il surprendre, Et nous serons maîtres de lui, Nous tirerons vengeance de lui!(F) Jer 20:10 Denn ich höre, wie mich viele schelten und schrecken um und um. "Hui, verklagt ihn! Wir wollen ihn verklagen!" sprechen alle meine Freunde und Gesellen, "ob wir ihn übervorteilen und ihm beikommen mögen und uns an ihm rächen."(D) Jer 20:10 ὅτι ἤκουσα ψόγον πολλῶν συναθροιζομένων κυκλόθεν ἐπισύστητε καὶ ἐπισυστῶμεν αὐτῷ πάντες ἄνδρες φίλοι αὐτοῦ τηρήσατε τὴν ἐπίνοιαν αὐτοῦ εἰ ἀπατηθήσεται καὶ δυνησόμεθα αὐτῷ καὶ λημψόμεθα τὴν ἐκδίκησιν ἡμῶν ἐξ αὐτοῦ(lxx) Jer 20:10 For I heard many mocking: "Fear on every side!" "Report," they say, "and we will report it!" All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, saying, "Perhaps he can be induced; Then we will prevail against him, And we will take our revenge on him."(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:11 ============ Jer 20:11 But the Lord is with me like a dread champion; Therefore my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will be utterly ashamed, because they have failed, With an everlasting disgrace that will not be forgotten.(nasb) Jer 20:11 Dominus autem mecum est, quasi bellator fortis: idcirco qui persequuntur me cadent, et infirmi erunt: confundentur vehementer, quia non intellexerunt opprobrium sempiternum, quod numquam delebitur.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:11 Mas Jehová está conmigo como poderoso gigante; por tanto los que me persiguen tropezarán, y no prevalecerán; serán avergonzados en gran manera, porque no prosperarán; tendrán perpetua confusión que jamás será olvidada.(E) Jérémie 20:11 Mais l'Eternel est avec moi comme un héros puissant; C'est pourquoi mes persécuteurs chancellent et n'auront pas le dessus; Ils seront remplis de confusion pour n'avoir pas réussi: Ce sera une honte éternelle qui ne s'oubliera pas.(F) Jer 20:11 Aber der HERR ist bei mir wie ein starker Held; darum werden meine Verfolger fallen und nicht obliegen, sondern sollen zu Schanden werden, darum daß sie so töricht handeln; ewig wird die Schande sein, deren man nicht vergessen wird.(D) Jer 20:11 καὶ κύριος μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ καθὼς μαχητὴς ἰσχύων διὰ τοῦτο ἐδίωξαν καὶ νοῆσαι οὐκ ἠδύναντο ᾐσχύνθησαν σφόδρα ὅτι οὐκ ἐνόησαν ἀτιμίας αὐτῶν αἳ δι᾽ αἰῶνος οὐκ ἐπιλησθήσονται(lxx) Jer 20:11 But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail. They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper. Their everlasting confusion will never be forgotten.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:12 ============ Jer 20:12 Yet, O Lord of hosts, You who test the righteous, Who see the mind and the heart; Let me see Your vengeance on them; For to You I have set forth my cause.(nasb) Jer 20:12 Et tu, Domine exercituum, probator justi, qui vides renes et cor, videam, quæso, ultionem tuam ex eis: tibi enim revelavi causam meam.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:12 Oh Jehová de los ejércitos, que pruebas a los justos, que ves los pensamientos y el corazón, vea yo tu venganza de ellos; porque a ti he expuesto mi causa.(E) Jérémie 20:12 L'Eternel des armées éprouve le juste, Il pénètre les reins et les coeurs. Je verrai ta vengeance s'exercer contre eux, Car c'est à toi que je confie ma cause.(F) Jer 20:12 Und nun, HERR Zebaoth, der du die Gerechten prüfst, Nieren und Herz siehst, laß mich deine Rache an ihnen sehen; denn ich habe dir meine Sache befohlen.(D) Jer 20:12 κύριε δοκιμάζων δίκαια συνίων νεφροὺς καὶ καρδίας ἴδοιμι τὴν παρὰ σοῦ ἐκδίκησιν ἐν αὐτοῖς ὅτι πρὸς σὲ ἀπεκάλυψα τὰ ἀπολογήματά μου(lxx) Jer 20:12 But, O Lord of hosts, You who test the righteous, And see the mind and heart, Let me see Your vengeance on them; For I have pleaded my cause before You.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:13 ============ Jer 20:13 Sing to the Lord, praise the Lord! For He has delivered the soul of the needy one From the hand of evildoers.(nasb) Jer 20:13 Cantate Domino, laudate Dominum, quia liberavit animam pauperis de manu malorum.(vulgate) Jeremías 20:13 Cantad a Jehová, load a Jehová; porque ha librado el alma del pobre de mano de los malignos.(E) Jérémie 20:13 Chantez à l'Eternel, louez l'Eternel! Car il délivre l'âme du malheureux de la main des méchants.(F) Jer 20:13 Singet dem HERRN, rühmt den HERRN, der des Armen Leben aus der Boshaften Händen errettet!(D) Jer 20:13 ᾄσατε τῷ κυρίῳ αἰνέσατε αὐτῷ ὅτι ἐξείλατο ψυχὴν πένητος ἐκ χειρὸς πονηρευομένων(lxx) Jer 20:13 Sing to the Lord! Praise the Lord! For He has delivered the life of the poor From the hand of evildoers.(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:14 ============ Jer 20:14 Cursed be the day when I was born; Let the day not be blessed when my mother bore me!(nasb) Jer 20:14 Maledicta dies in qua natus sum! dies in qua peperit me mater mea non sit benedicta!(vulgate) Jeremías 20:14 Maldito el día en que nací; el día en que mi madre me dio a luz no sea bendito.(E) Jérémie 20:14 Maudit soit le jour où je suis né! Que le jour où ma mère m'a enfanté Ne soit pas béni!(F) Jer 20:14 Verflucht sei der Tag, darin ich geboren bin; der Tag müsse ungesegnet sein, darin mich meine Mutter geboren hat!(D) Jer 20:14 ἐπικατάρατος ἡ ἡμέρα ἐν ᾗ ἐτέχθην ἐν αὐτῇ ἡ ἡμέρα ἐν ᾗ ἔτεκέν με ἡ μήτηρ μου μὴ ἔστω ἐπευκτή(lxx) Jer 20:14 Cursed be the day in which I was born! Let the day not be blessed in which my mother bore me!(nkjv) ======= Jeremiah 20:15 ============ Jer 20:15 Cursed be the man who brought the news To my father, saying, "A baby boy has been born to you!" And made him very happy.(nasb) Jer 20:15 Maledictus vir qui annuntiavit patri meo, dicens: Natus est tibi puer masculus, et quasi gaudio lætificavit eum!(vulgate) Jeremías 20:15 Maldito el hombre que dio nuevas a mi padre, diciendo: Hijo varón te ha nacido, haciéndole alegrarse así mucho.(E) Jérémie 20:15 Maudit soit l'homme qui porta cette nouvelle à mon père: Il t'est né un enfant mâle, Et qui le combla de joie!(F) Jer 20:15 Verflucht sei der, so meinem Vater gute Botschaft brachte und sprach: "Du hast einen jungen Sohn", daß er ihn fröhlich machen wollte!(D) Jer 20:15 ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ εὐαγγελισάμενος τῷ πατρί μου λέγων ἐτέχθη σοι ἄρσεν εὐφραινόμενος(lxx) Jer 20:15 Let the man be cursed Who brought news to my father, saying, "A male child has been born to you!"
