Today's Date: ======= 2 Chronicles 16:1 ============ 2Ch 16:1 In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah and fortified Ramah in order to prevent anyone from going out or coming in to Asa king of Judah.(nas) 2Ch 16:1 καὶ ἐν τῷ ὀγδόῳ καὶ τριακοστῷ ἔτει τῆς βασιλείας Ασα ἀνέβη Βαασα βασιλεὺς Ισραηλ ἐπὶ Ιουδαν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν τὴν Ραμα τοῦ μὴ δοῦναι ἔξοδον καὶ εἴσοδον τῷ Ασα βασιλεῖ Ιουδα (lxx) 2Ch 16:1 Anno autem trigesimo sexto regni ejus, ascendit Baasa rex Israël in Judam, et muro circumdabat Rama, ut nullus tute posset egredi et ingredi de regno Asa.(vulgate) 1 ׃16 בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וָשֵׁשׁ֙ לְמַלְכ֣וּת אָסָ֔א עָלָ֞ה בַּעְשָׁ֤א מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עַל־יְהוּדָ֔ה וַיִּ֖בֶן אֶת־הָרָמָ֑ה לְבִלְתִּ֗י תֵּ֚ת יוֹצֵ֣א וָבָ֔א לְאָסָ֖א מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:1 Im sechsundreißigsten Jahr des Königreichs Asas zog herauf Baesa, der König Israels, wider Juda und baute Rama, daß er Asa, dem König Juda's, wehrte aus und ein zu ziehen.(dhs) 2Ch 16:1 In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:2 ============ 2Ch 16:2 Then Asa brought out silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the Lord and the king's house, and sent them to Ben-hadad king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying,(nas) 2Ch 16:2 καὶ ἔλαβεν Ασα χρυσίον καὶ ἀργύριον ἐκ θησαυρῶν οἴκου κυρίου καὶ οἴκου τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τὸν υἱὸν τοῦ Αδερ βασιλέως Συρίας τὸν κατοικοῦντα ἐν Δαμασκῷ λέγων (lxx) 2Ch 16:2 Protulit ergo Asa argentum et aurum de thesauris domus Domini, et de thesauris regis, misitque ad Benadad regem Syriæ, qui habitabat in Damasco, dicens:(vulgate) 2 ׃16 וַיֹּצֵ֨א אָסָ֜א כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֗ב מֵאֹֽצְר֛וֹת בֵּ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה וּבֵ֣ית הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח אֶל־בֶּן־הֲדַד֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֔ם הַיּוֹשֵׁ֥ב בְּדַרְמֶ֖שֶׂק לֵאמֹֽר׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:2 Aber Asa nahm aus dem Schatz im Hause des HERRN und im Hause des Königs Silber und Gold und sandte zu Benhadad, dem König von Syrien, der zu Damaskus wohnte, und ließ ihm sagen:(dhs) 2Ch 16:2 Then Asa brought silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the Lord and of the king's house, and sent to Ben-Hadad king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:3 ============ 2Ch 16:3 "Let there be a treaty between you and me, as between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me."(nas) 2Ch 16:3 διάθου διαθήκην ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ πατρός σου ἰδοὺ ἀπέσταλκά σοι χρυσίον καὶ ἀργύριον δεῦρο καὶ διασκέδασον ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ τὸν Βαασα βασιλέα Ισραηλ καὶ ἀπελθέτω ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ (lxx) 2Ch 16:3 Fœdus inter me et te est; pater quoque meus et pater tuus habuere concordiam: quam ob rem misi tibi argentum et aurum, ut rupto fœdere quod habes cum Baasa rege Israël, facias eum a me recedere.(vulgate) 3 ׃16 בְּרִית֙ בֵּינִ֣י וּבֵינֶ֔ךָ וּבֵ֥ין אָבִ֖י וּבֵ֣ין אָבִ֑יךָ הִנֵּ֨ה שָׁלַ֤חְתִּֽי לְךָ֙ כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֔ב לֵ֞ךְ הָפֵ֣ר בְּרִֽיתְךָ֗ אֶת־בַּעְשָׁא֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְיַעֲלֶ֖ה מֵעָלָֽי׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:3 Es ist ein Bund zwischen mir und dir, zwischen meinem Vater und deinem Vater; darum habe ich dir Silber und Gold gesandt, daß du den Bund mit Baesa, dem König Israels fahren läßt, daß er von mir abziehe.(dhs) 2Ch 16:3 "Let there be a treaty between you and me, as there was between my father and your father. Here, I have sent you silver and gold; come, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me."(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:4 ============ 2Ch 16:4 So Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, and they conquered Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim and all the store cities of Naphtali.(nas) 2Ch 16:4 καὶ ἤκουσεν υἱὸς Αδερ τοῦ βασιλέως Ασα καὶ ἀπέστειλεν τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὴν Ιων καὶ τὴν Δαν καὶ τὴν Αβελμαιν καὶ πάσας τὰς περιχώρους Νεφθαλι (lxx) 2Ch 16:4 Quo comperto, Benadad misit principes exercituum suorum ad urbes Israël: qui percusserunt Ahion, et Dan, et Abelmaim, et universas urbes Nephthali muratas.(vulgate) 4 ׃16 וַיִּשְׁמַ֨ע בֶּן[c] הֲדַ֜ד אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ אָסָ֗א וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח אֶת־שָׂרֵ֨י הַחֲיָלִ֤ים אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ֙ אֶל־עָרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּכּוּ֙ אֶת־עִיּ֣וֹן וְאֶת־דָּ֔ן וְאֵ֖ת אָבֵ֣ל מָ֑יִם וְאֵ֥ת כָּֽל־מִסְכְּנ֖וֹת עָרֵ֥י נַפְתָּלִֽי׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:4 Benhadad gehorchte dem König Asa und sandte seine Heerfürsten wider die Städte Israels; die schlugen Ijon, Dan und Abel-Maim und alle Kornstädte Naphthalis.(dhs) 2Ch 16:4 So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:5 ============ 2Ch 16:5 When Baasha heard of it, he ceased fortifying Ramah and stopped his work.(nas) 2Ch 16:5 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἀκοῦσαι Βαασα ἀπέλιπεν τοῦ μηκέτι οἰκοδομεῖν τὴν Ραμα καὶ κατέπαυσεν τὸ ἔργον αὐτοῦ (lxx) 2Ch 16:5 Quod cum audisset Baasa, desiit ædificare Rama, et intermisit opus suum.(vulgate) 5 ׃16 וַיְהִי֙ כִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ בַּעְשָׁ֔א וַיֶּחְדַּ֕ל מִבְּנ֖וֹת אֶת־הָרָמָ֑ה וַיַּשְׁבֵּ֖ת אֶת־מְלַאכְתּֽוֹ׃ ס Chronicles2 2Ch 16:5 Da Baesa das hörte, ließ er ab Rama zu bauen, und hörte auf von seinem Werk.(dhs) 2Ch 16:5 Now it happened, when Baasha heard it, that he stopped building Ramah and ceased his work.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:6 ============ 2Ch 16:6 Then King Asa brought all Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and its timber with which Baasha had been building, and with them he fortified Geba and Mizpah.(nas) 2Ch 16:6 καὶ Ασα ὁ βασιλεὺς ἔλαβεν πάντα τὸν Ιουδαν καὶ ἔλαβεν τοὺς λίθους τῆς Ραμα καὶ τὰ ξύλα αὐτῆς ἃ ᾠκοδόμησεν Βαασα καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν ἐν αὐτοῖς τὴν Γαβαε καὶ τὴν Μασφα (lxx) 2Ch 16:6 Porro Asa rex assumpsit universum Judam, et tulerunt lapides de Rama, et ligna quæ ædificationi præparaverat Baasa, ædificavitque ex eis Gabaa et Maspha.(vulgate) 6 ׃16 וְאָסָ֣א הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ לָקַח֙ אֶת־כָּל־יְהוּדָ֔ה וַיִּשְׂא֞וּ אֶת־אַבְנֵ֤י הָֽרָמָה֙ וְאֶת־עֵצֶ֔יהָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנָ֖ה בַּעְשָׁ֑א וַיִּ֣בֶן בָּהֶ֔ם אֶת־גֶּ֖בַע וְאֶת־הַמִּצְפָּֽה׃ ס Chronicles2 2Ch 16:6 Aber der König Asa nahm zu sich das ganze Juda, und sie trugen die Steine und das Holz von Rama, womit Baesa baute; und er baute damit Geba und Mizpa.(dhs) 2Ch 16:6 Then King Asa took all Judah, and they carried away the stones and timber of Ramah, which Baasha had used for building; and with them he built Geba and Mizpah.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:7 ============ 2Ch 16:7 At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, "Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand.(nas) 2Ch 16:7 καὶ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἦλθεν Ανανι ὁ προφήτης πρὸς Ασα βασιλέα Ιουδα καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ πεποιθέναι σε ἐπὶ βασιλέα Συρίας καὶ μὴ πεποιθέναι σε ἐπὶ κύριον θεόν σου διὰ τοῦτο ἐσώθη δύναμις Συρίας ἀπὸ τῆς χειρός σου (lxx) 2Ch 16:7 In tempore illo venit Hanani propheta ad Asa regem Juda, et dixit ei: Quia habuisti fiduciam in rege Syriæ, et non in Domino Deo tuo, idcirco evasit Syriæ regis exercitus de manu tua.(vulgate) 7 ׃16 וּבָעֵ֣ת הַהִ֗יא בָּ֚א חֲנָ֣נִי הָרֹאֶ֔ה אֶל־אָסָ֖א מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו בְּהִשָּׁ֨עֶנְךָ֜ עַל־מֶ֤לֶךְ אֲרָם֙ וְלֹ֤א נִשְׁעַ֙נְתָּ֙ עַל־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ עַל־כֵּ֗ן נִמְלַ֛ט חֵ֥יל מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָ֖ם מִיָּדֶֽךָ׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:7 Zu der Zeit kam Hanani, der Seher, zu Asa, dem König Juda's, und sprach zu ihm: Daß du dich auf den König von Syrien verlassen hast und hast dich nicht auf den HERRN, deinen Gott, verlassen, darum ist die Macht des Königs von Syrien deiner Hand entronnen.(dhs) 2Ch 16:7 And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him: "Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on the Lord your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:8 ============ 2Ch 16:8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim an immense army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the Lord, He delivered them into your hand.(nas) 2Ch 16:8 οὐχ οἱ Αἰθίοπες καὶ Λίβυες ἦσαν εἰς δύναμιν πολλὴν εἰς θάρσος εἰς ἱππεῖς εἰς πλῆθος σφόδρα καὶ ἐν τῷ πεποιθέναι σε ἐπὶ κύριον παρέδωκεν εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου (lxx) 2Ch 16:8 Nonne Æthiopes et Libyes multo plures erant quadrigis, et equitibus, et multitudine nimia, quos cum Domino credidisses, tradidit in manu tua?(vulgate) 8 ׃16 הֲלֹ֧א הַכּוּשִׁ֣ים וְהַלּוּבִ֗ים הָי֨וּ לְחַ֧יִל ׀ לָרֹ֛ב לְרֶ֥כֶב וּלְפָרָשִׁ֖ים לְהַרְבֵּ֣ה מְאֹ֑ד וּבְהִשָּֽׁעֶנְךָ֥ עַל־יְהוָ֖ה נְתָנָ֥ם בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:8 Waren nicht die Mohren und Libyer ein große Menge mit sehr viel Wagen und Reitern? Doch da gab sie der HERR in deine Hand, da du dich auf ihn verließest.(dhs) 2Ch 16:8 Were the Ethiopians and the Lubim not a huge army with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because you relied on the Lord, He delivered them into your hand.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:9 ============ 2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars."(nas) 2Ch 16:9 ὅτι οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ κυρίου ἐπιβλέπουσιν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ κατισχῦσαι ἐν πάσῃ καρδίᾳ πλήρει πρὸς αὐτόν ἠγνόηκας ἐπὶ τούτῳ ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν ἔσται μετὰ σοῦ πόλεμος (lxx) 2Ch 16:9 Oculi enim Domini contemplantur universam terram, et præbent fortitudinem his qui corde perfecto credunt in eum. Stulte igitur egisti, et propter hoc ex præsenti tempore adversum te bella consurgent.(vulgate) 9 ׃16 כִּ֣י יְהוָ֗ה עֵינָ֞יו מְשֹׁטְט֤וֹת בְּכָל־הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ לְ֠הִתְחַזֵּק עִם־לְבָבָ֥ם שָׁלֵ֛ם אֵלָ֖יו נִסְכַּ֣לְתָּ עַל־זֹ֑את כִּ֣י מֵעַ֔תָּה יֵ֥שׁ עִמְּךָ֖ מִלְחָמֽוֹת׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:9 Denn des HERRN Augen schauen alle Lande, daß er stärke die, so von ganzem Herzen an ihm sind. Du hast töricht getan; darum wirst du auch von nun an Kriege haben.(dhs) 2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars."(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:10 ============ 2Ch 16:10 Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him for this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.(nas) 2Ch 16:10 καὶ ἐθυμώθη Ασα τῷ προφήτῃ καὶ παρέθετο αὐτὸν εἰς φυλακήν ὅτι ὠργίσθη ἐπὶ τούτῳ καὶ ἐλυμήνατο Ασα ἐν τῷ λαῷ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ (lxx) 2Ch 16:10 Iratusque Asa adversus videntem, jussit eum mitti in nervum: valde quippe super hoc fuerat indignatus: et interfecit de populo in tempore illo plurimos.~(vulgate) 10 ׃16 וַיִּכְעַ֨ס אָסָ֜א אֶל־הָרֹאֶ֗ה וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֙הוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית הַמַּהְפֶּ֔כֶת כִּֽי־בְזַ֥עַף עִמּ֖וֹ עַל־זֹ֑את וַיְרַצֵּ֥ץ אָסָ֛א מִן־הָעָ֖ם בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִֽיא׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:10 Aber Asa ward zornig über den Seher und legte ihn ins Gefängnis; denn er grollte ihm über diesem Stück. Und Asa unterdrückte etliche des Volkes zu der Zeit.(dhs) 2Ch 16:10 Then Asa was angry with the seer, and put him in prison, for he was enraged at him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:11 ============ 2Ch 16:11 Now, the acts of Asa from first to last, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.(nas) 2Ch 16:11 καὶ ἰδοὺ οἱ λόγοι Ασα οἱ πρῶτοι καὶ οἱ ἔσχατοι γεγραμμένοι ἐν βιβλίῳ βασιλέων Ιουδα καὶ Ισραηλ (lxx) 2Ch 16:11 Opera autem Asa prima et novissima scripta sunt in libro regum Juda et Israël.(vulgate) 11 ׃16 וְהִנֵּה֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י אָסָ֔א הָרִאשׁוֹנִ֖ים וְהָאַחֲרוֹנִ֑ים הִנָּ֤ם כְּתוּבִים֙ עַל־סֵ֣פֶר הַמְּלָכִ֔ים לִיהוּדָ֖ה וְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:11 Die Geschichten aber Asas, beide, die ersten und die letzten, siehe, die sind geschrieben im Buch von den Königen Juda's und Israels.(dhs) 2Ch 16:11 Note that the acts of Asa, first and last, are indeed written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:12 ============ 2Ch 16:12 In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa became diseased in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.(nas) 2Ch 16:12 καὶ ἐμαλακίσθη Ασα ἐν τῷ ἐνάτῳ καὶ τριακοστῷ ἔτει τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ τοὺς πόδας ἕως σφόδρα ἐμαλακίσθη καὶ ἐν τῇ μαλακίᾳ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐζήτησεν κύριον ἀλλὰ τοὺς ἰατρούς (lxx) 2Ch 16:12 Ægrotavit etiam Asa anno trigesimo nono regni sui, dolore pedum vehementissimo, et nec in infirmitate sua quæsivit Dominum, sed magis in medicorum arte confisus est.(vulgate) 12 ׃16 וַיֶּחֱלֶ֣א אָסָ֡א בִּשְׁנַת֩ שְׁלוֹשִׁ֨ים וָתֵ֤שַׁע לְמַלְכוּתוֹ֙ בְּרַגְלָ֔יו עַד־לְמַ֖עְלָה חָלְי֑וֹ וְגַם־בְּחָלְיוֹ֙ לֹא־דָרַ֣שׁ אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה כִּ֖י בָּרֹפְאִֽים׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:12 Und Asa ward krank an seinen Füßen im neununddreißigsten Jahr seines Königreichs, und seine Krankheit nahm sehr zu; und er suchte auch in seiner Krankheit den HERRN nicht, sondern die Ärzte.(dhs) 2Ch 16:12 And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:13 ============ 2Ch 16:13 So Asa slept with his fathers, having died in the forty-first year of his reign.(nas) 2Ch 16:13 καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Ασα μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν ἐν τῷ ἐνάτῳ καὶ τριακοστῷ ἔτει τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ (lxx) 2Ch 16:13 Dormivitque cum patribus suis, et mortuus est anno quadragesimo primo regni sui.(vulgate) 13 ׃16 וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב אָסָ֖א עִם־אֲבֹתָ֑יו וַיָּ֕מָת בִּשְׁנַ֛ת אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וְאַחַ֖ת לְמָלְכֽוֹ׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:13 Also entschlief Asa mit seinen Vätern und starb im einundvierzigsten Jahr seines Königreichs.(dhs) 2Ch 16:13 So Asa rested with his fathers; he died in the forty-first year of his reign.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 16:14 ============ 2Ch 16:14 They buried him in his own tomb which he had cut out for himself in the city of David, and they laid him in the resting place which he had filled with spices of various kinds blended by the perfumers' art; and they made a very great fire for him.(nas) 2Ch 16:14 καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ μνήματι ᾧ ὤρυξεν ἑαυτῷ ἐν πόλει Δαυιδ καὶ ἐκοίμισαν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς κλίνης καὶ ἔπλησαν ἀρωμάτων καὶ γένη μύρων μυρεψῶν καὶ ἐποίησαν αὐτῷ ἐκφορὰν μεγάλην ἕως σφόδρα (lxx) 2Ch 16:14 Et sepelierunt eum in sepulchro suo quod foderat sibi in civitate David: posueruntque eum super lectum suum plenum aromatibus et unguentibus meretriciis, quæ erant pigmentariorum arte confecta, et combusserunt super eum ambitione nimia.(vulgate) 14 ׃16 וַיִּקְבְּרֻ֣הוּ בְקִבְרֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּֽרָה־לוֹ֮ בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִיד֒ וַיַּשְׁכִּיבֻ֗הוּ בַּמִּשְׁכָּב֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר מִלֵּא֙ בְּשָׂמִ֣ים וּזְנִ֔ים מְרֻקָּחִ֖ים בְּמִרְקַ֣חַת מַעֲשֶׂ֑ה וַיִּשְׂרְפוּ־ל֥וֹ שְׂרֵפָ֖ה גְּדוֹלָ֥ה עַד־לִמְאֹֽד׃ פ Chronicles2 2Ch 16:14 Und man begrub ihn in seinem Grabe, das er hatte lassen graben in der Stadt Davids.
