Today's Date: ======= 2 Chronicles 17:1 ============ 2Ch 17:1 Jehoshaphat his son then became king in his place, and made his position over Israel firm.(nas) 2Ch 17:1 καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ιωσαφατ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ᾽ αὐτοῦ καὶ κατίσχυσεν Ιωσαφατ ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ (lxx) 2Ch 17:1 Regnavit autem Josaphat filius ejus pro eo, et invaluit contra Israël.(vulgate) 1 ׃17 וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בְּנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּ֑יו וַיִּתְחַזֵּ֖ק עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:1 Und sein Sohn Josaphat ward König an seiner Statt und ward mächtig wider Israel.(dhs) 2Ch 17:1 Then Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place, and strengthened himself against Israel.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:2 ============ 2Ch 17:2 He placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had captured.(nas) 2Ch 17:2 καὶ ἔδωκεν δύναμιν ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν Ιουδα ταῖς ὀχυραῖς καὶ κατέστησεν ἡγουμένους ἐν πάσαις ταῖς πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐν πόλεσιν Εφραιμ ἃς προκατελάβετο Ασα ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ (lxx) 2Ch 17:2 Constituitque militum numeros in cunctis urbibus Juda quæ erant vallatæ muris. Præsidiaque disposuit in terra Juda, et in civitatibus Ephraim quas ceperat Asa pater ejus.(vulgate) 2 ׃17 וַיִּ֨תֶּן־חַ֔יִל בְּכָל־עָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה הַבְּצֻר֑וֹת וַיִּתֵּ֤ן נְצִיבִים֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ יְהוּדָ֔ה וּבְעָרֵ֣י אֶפְרַ֔יִם אֲשֶׁ֥ר לָכַ֖ד אָסָ֥א אָבִֽיו׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:2 Und er legte Kriegsvolk in alle festen Städte Juda's und setzte Amtleute im Lande Juda und in den Städten Ephraims, die sein Vater Asa gewonnen hatte.(dhs) 2Ch 17:2 And he placed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim which Asa his father had taken.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:3 ============ 2Ch 17:3 The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father David's earlier days and did not seek the Baals,(nas) 2Ch 17:3 καὶ ἐγένετο κύριος μετὰ Ιωσαφατ ὅτι ἐπορεύθη ἐν ὁδοῖς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ταῖς πρώταις καὶ οὐκ ἐξεζήτησεν τὰ εἴδωλα (lxx) 2Ch 17:3 Et fuit Dominus cum Josaphat, quia ambulavit in viis David patris sui primis: et non speravit in Baalim,(vulgate) 3 ׃17 וַיְהִ֥י יְהוָ֖ה עִם־יְהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט כִּ֣י הָלַ֗ךְ בְּדַרְכֵ֞י דָּוִ֤יד אָבִיו֙ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים וְלֹ֥א דָרַ֖שׁ לַבְּעָלִֽים׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:3 Und der HERR war mit Josaphat; denn er wandelte in den vorigen Wegen seines Vaters David und suchte nicht die Baalim,(dhs) 2Ch 17:3 Now the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David; he did not seek the Baals,(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:4 ============ 2Ch 17:4 but sought the God of his father, followed His commandments, and did not act as Israel did.(nas) 2Ch 17:4 ἀλλὰ κύριον τὸν θεὸν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐξεζήτησεν καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἐπορεύθη καὶ οὐχ ὡς τοῦ Ισραηλ τὰ ἔργα (lxx) 2Ch 17:4 sed in Deo patris sui: et perrexit in præceptis illius, et non juxta peccata Israël.(vulgate) 4 ׃17 כִּ֠י לֽ͏ֵאלֹהֵ֤י אָבִיו֙ דָּרָ֔שׁ וּבְמִצְוֺתָ֖יו הָלָ֑ךְ וְלֹ֖א כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:4 sondern den Gott seines Vaters, und wandelte in seinen Geboten und nicht nach den Werken Israels.(dhs) 2Ch 17:4 but sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:5 ============ 2Ch 17:5 So the Lord established the kingdom in his control, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.(nas) 2Ch 17:5 καὶ κατηύθυνεν κύριος τὴν βασιλείαν ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν πᾶς Ιουδα δῶρα τῷ Ιωσαφατ καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ πλοῦτος καὶ δόξα πολλή (lxx) 2Ch 17:5 Confirmavitque Dominus regnum in manu ejus, et dedit omnis Juda munera Josaphat: factæque sunt ei infinitæ divitiæ, et multa gloria.(vulgate) 5 ׃17 וַיָּ֨כֶן יְהוָ֤ה אֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָה֙ בְּיָד֔וֹ וַיִּתְּנ֧וּ כָל־יְהוּדָ֛ה מִנְחָ֖ה לִיהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט וַֽיְהִי־ל֥וֹ עֹֽשֶׁר־וְכָב֖וֹד לָרֹֽב׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:5 Darum bestätigte ihm der HERR das Königreich; und ganz Juda gab Josaphat Geschenke, und er hatte Reichtum und Ehre die Menge.(dhs) 2Ch 17:5 Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave presents to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:6 ============ 2Ch 17:6 He took great pride in the ways of the Lord and again removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah.(nas) 2Ch 17:6 καὶ ὑψώθη καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐν ὁδῷ κυρίου καὶ ἔτι ἐξῆρεν τὰ ὑψηλὰ καὶ τὰ ἄλση ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς Ιουδα (lxx) 2Ch 17:6 Cumque sumpsisset cor ejus audaciam propter vias Domini, etiam excelsa et lucos de Juda abstulit.(vulgate) 6 ׃17 וַיִּגְבַּ֥הּ לִבּ֖וֹ בְּדַרְכֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְע֗וֹד הֵסִ֛יר אֶת־הַבָּמ֥וֹת וְאֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים מִיהוּדָֽה׃ פ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:6 Und da sein Herz mutig ward in den Wegen des HERRN, tat er fürder ab die Höhen und Ascherabilder aus Juda.(dhs) 2Ch 17:6 And his heart took delight in the ways of the Lord; moreover he removed the high places and wooden images from Judah.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:7 ============ 2Ch 17:7 Then in the third year of his reign he sent his officials, Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah;(nas) 2Ch 17:7 καὶ ἐν τῷ τρίτῳ ἔτει τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ ἀπέστειλεν τοὺς ἡγουμένους αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν δυνατῶν τὸν Αβδιαν καὶ Ζαχαριαν καὶ Ναθαναηλ καὶ Μιχαιαν διδάσκειν ἐν πόλεσιν Ιουδα (lxx) 2Ch 17:7 Tertio autem anno regni sui misit de principibus suis Benhail, et Obdiam, et Zachariam, et Nathanaël, et Michæam, ut docerent in civitatibus Juda:(vulgate) 7 ׃17 וּבִשְׁנַ֨ת שָׁל֜וֹשׁ לְמָלְכ֗וֹ שָׁלַ֤ח לְשָׂרָיו֙ לְבֶן־חַ֙יִל֙ וּלְעֹבַדְיָ֣ה וְלִזְכַרְיָ֔ה וְלִנְתַנְאֵ֖ל וּלְמִיכָיָ֑הוּ לְלַמֵּ֖ד בְּעָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:7 Im dritten Jahr seines Königreichs sandte er seine Fürsten Ben-Hail, Obadja, Sacharja, Nathanael und Michaja, daß sie lehren sollten in den Städten Juda's;(dhs) 2Ch 17:7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent his leaders, Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:8 ============ 2Ch 17:8 and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah and Tobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.(nas) 2Ch 17:8 καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτῶν οἱ Λευῖται Σαμουιας καὶ Ναθανιας καὶ Ζαβδιας καὶ Ασιηλ καὶ Σεμιραμωθ καὶ Ιωναθαν καὶ Αδωνιας καὶ Τωβιας οἱ Λευῖται καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτῶν Ελισαμα καὶ Ιωραμ οἱ ἱερεῖς (lxx) 2Ch 17:8 et cum eis Levitas Semeiam, et Nathaniam, et Zabadiam, Asaël quoque, et Semiramoth, et Jonathan, Adoniamque et Thobiam, et Thobadoniam Levitas, et cum eis Elisama, et Joran sacerdotes:(vulgate) 8 ׃17 וְעִמָּהֶ֣ם הַלְוִיִּ֗ם שְֽׁמַֽעְיָ֡הוּ וּנְתַנְיָ֡הוּ וּזְבַדְיָ֡הוּ וַעֲשָׂהאֵ֡ל *ושמרימות **וּשְׁמִֽירָמ֡וֹת וִֽיהוֹנָתָן֩ וַאֲדֹ֨נִיָּ֧הוּ וְטֽוֹבִיָּ֛הוּ וְט֥וֹב אֲדוֹנִיָּ֖ה הַלְוִיִּ֑ם וְעִמָּהֶ֛ם אֱלִישָׁמָ֥ע וִֽיהוֹרָ֖ם הַכֹּהֲנִֽים׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:8 und mit ihnen die Leviten Semaja, Nethanja, Sebadja, Asael, Semiramoth, Jonathan, Adonia, Tobia und Tob-Adonia; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:9 ============ 2Ch 17:9 They taught in Judah, having the book of the law of the Lord with them; and they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.(nas) 2Ch 17:9 καὶ ἐδίδασκον ἐν Ιουδα καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτῶν βύβλος νόμου κυρίου καὶ διῆλθον ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν Ιουδα καὶ ἐδίδασκον τὸν λαόν (lxx) 2Ch 17:9 docebantque populum in Juda, habentes librum legis Domini, et circuibant cunctas urbes Juda, atque erudiebant populum.(vulgate) 9 ׃17 וַֽיְלַמְּדוּ֙ בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה וְעִ֨מָּהֶ֔ם סֵ֖פֶר תּוֹרַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וַיָּסֹ֙בּוּ֙ בְּכָל־עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וַֽיְלַמְּד֖וּ בָּעָֽם׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:9 Und sie lehrten in Juda und hatten das Gesetzbuch des HERRN mit sich und zogen umher in allen Städten Juda's und lehrten das Volk.(dhs) 2Ch 17:9 So they taught in Judah, and had the Book of the Law of the Lord with them; they went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:10 ============ 2Ch 17:10 Now the dread of the Lord was on all the kingdoms of the lands which were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.(nas) 2Ch 17:10 καὶ ἐγένετο ἔκστασις κυρίου ἐπὶ πάσαις ταῖς βασιλείαις τῆς γῆς ταῖς κύκλῳ Ιουδα καὶ οὐκ ἐπολέμουν πρὸς Ιωσαφατ (lxx) 2Ch 17:10 Itaque factus est pavor Domini super omnia regna terrarum quæ erant per gyrum Juda, nec audebant bellare contra Josaphat.(vulgate) 10 ׃17 וַיְהִ֣י ׀ פַּ֣חַד יְהוָ֗ה עַ֚ל כָּל־מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הֽ͏ָאֲרָצ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֖ר סְבִיב֣וֹת יְהוּדָ֑ה וְלֹ֥א נִלְחֲמ֖וּ עִם־יְהוֹשָׁפָֽט׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:10 Und es kam die Furcht des HERRN über alle Königreiche in den Landen, die um Juda her lagen, daß sie nicht stritten wider Josaphat.(dhs) 2Ch 17:10 And the fear of the Lord fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:11 ============ 2Ch 17:11 Some of the Philistines brought gifts and silver as tribute to Jehoshaphat; the Arabians also brought him flocks, 7,700 rams and 7,700 male goats.(nas) 2Ch 17:11 καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀλλοφύλων ἔφερον τῷ Ιωσαφατ δῶρα καὶ ἀργύριον καὶ δόματα καὶ οἱ Ἄραβες ἔφερον αὐτῷ κριοὺς προβάτων ἑπτακισχιλίους ἑπτακοσίους (lxx) 2Ch 17:11 Sed et Philisthæi Josaphat munera deferebant, et vectigal argenti: Arabes quoque adducebant pecora, arietum septem millia septingenta, et hircorum totidem.(vulgate) 11 ׃17 וּמִן־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים מְבִיאִ֧ים לִֽיהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט מִנְחָ֖ה וְכֶ֣סֶף מַשָּׂ֑א גַּ֣ם הָֽעַרְבִיאִ֗ים מְבִיאִ֥ים לוֹ֙ צֹ֕אן אֵילִ֔ים שִׁבְעַ֤ת אֲלָפִים֙ וּשְׁבַ֣ע מֵא֔וֹת וּתְיָשִׁ֕ים שִׁבְעַ֥ת אֲלָפִ֖ים וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ פ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:11 Und die Philister brachten Josaphat Geschenke, eine Last Silber; und die Araber brachten ihm siebentausend und siebenhundert Widder und siebentausend und siebenhundert Böcke.(dhs) 2Ch 17:11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver as tribute; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:12 ============ 2Ch 17:12 So Jehoshaphat grew greater and greater, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.(nas) 2Ch 17:12 καὶ ἦν Ιωσαφατ πορευόμενος μείζων ἕως εἰς ὕψος καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν οἰκήσεις ἐν τῇ Ιουδαίᾳ καὶ πόλεις ὀχυράς (lxx) 2Ch 17:12 Crevit ergo Josaphat, et magnificatus est usque in sublime: atque ædificavit in Juda domos ad instar turrium, urbesque muratas.(vulgate) 12 ׃17 וַיְהִ֧י יְהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט הֹלֵ֥ךְ וְגָדֵ֖ל עַד־לְמָ֑עְלָה וַיִּ֧בֶן בִּֽיהוּדָ֛ה בִּירָנִיּ֖וֹת וְעָרֵ֥י מִסְכְּנֽוֹת׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:12 Also nahm Josaphat zu und ward immer größer; und er baute in Juda Burgen und Kornstädte(dhs) 2Ch 17:12 So Jehoshaphat became increasingly powerful, and he built fortresses and storage cities in Judah.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:13 ============ 2Ch 17:13 He had large supplies in the cities of Judah, and warriors, valiant men, in Jerusalem.(nas) 2Ch 17:13 καὶ ἔργα πολλὰ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ Ιουδαίᾳ καὶ ἄνδρες πολεμισταὶ δυνατοὶ ἰσχύοντες ἐν Ιερουσαλημ (lxx) 2Ch 17:13 Et multa opera paravit in urbibus Juda: viri quoque bellatores et robusti erant in Jerusalem,(vulgate) 13 ׃17 וּמְלָאכָ֥ה רַבָּ֛ה הָ֥יָה ל֖וֹ בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וְאַנְשֵׁ֧י מִלְחָמָ֛ה גִּבּ֥וֹרֵי חַ֖יִל בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃ Chronicles2 2Ch 17:13 und hatte viel Vorrat in den Städten Juda's und streitbare Männer und gewaltige Leute zu Jerusalem.(dhs) 2Ch 17:13 He had much property in the cities of Judah; and the men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem.(nkjv) ======= 2 Chronicles 17:14 ============ 2Ch 17:14 This was their muster according to their fathers' households: of Judah, commanders of thousands, Adnah was the commander, and with him 300,000 valiant warriors;(nas) 2Ch 17:14 καὶ οὗτος ἀριθμὸς αὐτῶν κατ᾽ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν τῷ Ιουδα χιλίαρχοι Εδνας ὁ ἄρχων καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ υἱοὶ δυνατοὶ δυνάμεως τριακόσιαι χιλιάδες (lxx) 2Ch 17:14 quorum iste numerus per domos atque familias singulorum: in Juda principes exercitus, Ednas dux, et cum eo robustissimi viri trecenta millia.(vulgate) 14 ׃17 וְאֵ֥לֶּה פְקֻדָּתָ֖ם לְבֵ֣ית אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם לִֽיהוּדָה֙ שָׂרֵ֣י אֲלָפִ֔ים עַדְנָ֣ה הַשָּׂ֔ר וְעִמּוֹ֙ גִּבּ֣וֹרֵי חַ֔יִל שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת אָֽלֶף׃ ס Chronicles2 2Ch 17:14 Und dies war die Ordnung nach ihren Vaterhäusern: in Juda waren Oberste über tausend: Adna, ein Oberster und mit ihm waren dreihunderttausend gewaltige Männer;(dhs) 2Ch 17:14 These are their numbers, according to their fathers' houses.
