Today's Date: ======= 2 Corinthians 8:1 ============ 2Co 8:1 Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia,(nas) 2Co 8:1 γνωρίζομεν δὲ ὑμῖν, ἀδελφοί, τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν δεδομένην ἐν ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς μακεδονίας, (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:1 Notam autem facimus vobis, fratres, gratiam Dei, quæ data est in ecclesiis Macedoniæ:(vulgate) וְהִנְנוּ מוֹדִיעִים אֶתְכֶם אַחִים כִּי גָבַר חֶסֶד אֵל עַל־קְהִלוֹת מַקְדּוֹנְיָא׃ א Corinthians2 2Co 8:1 Ich tue euch kund, liebe Brüder, die Gnade Gottes, die in den Gemeinden in Mazedonien gegeben ist.(dhs) 2Co 8:1 Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia:(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:2 ============ 2Co 8:2 that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality.(nas) 2Co 8:2 ὅτι ἐν πολλῇ δοκιμῇ θλίψεως ἡ περισσεία τῆς χαρᾶς αὐτῶν καὶ ἡ κατὰ βάθους πτωχεία αὐτῶν ἐπερίσσευσεν εἰς τὸ πλοῦτος τῆς ἁπλότητος αὐτῶν· (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:2 quod in multo experimento tribulationis abundantia gaudii ipsorum fuit, et altissima paupertas eorum, abundavit in divitias simplicitatis eorum:(vulgate) כִּי כַּאֲשֶׁר הִגְדִּיל כּוּר צָרָתָם כֵּן גָּדְלָה שִׂמְחָתָם וְרֹב עָנְיָם הִרְבָּה שִׁפְעַת נִדְבָתָם׃ ב Corinthians2 2Co 8:2 Denn ihre Freude war überschwenglich, da sie durch viel Trübsal bewährt wurden; und wiewohl sie sehr arm sind, haben sie doch reichlich gegeben in aller Einfalt.(dhs) 2Co 8:2 that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:3 ============ 2Co 8:3 For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord,(nas) 2Co 8:3 ὅτι κατὰ δύναμιν, μαρτυρῶ, καὶ παρὰ δύναμιν, αὐθαίρετοι (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:3 quia secundum virtutem testimonium illis reddo, et supra virtutem voluntarii fuerunt,(vulgate) וַאֲנִי עֵד הִנֵּנִי כִּי לְפִי־עֵרֶךְ כֹּחָם אוֹ גַם־יֶתֶר מִדֵּי־כֹחָם כִּנְדִיבֵי לֵב׃ ג Corinthians2 2Co 8:3 Denn nach allem Vermögen (das bezeuge ich) und über Vermögen waren sie willig(dhs) 2Co 8:3 For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing,(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:4 ============ 2Co 8:4 begging us with much urging for the favor of participation in the support of the saints,(nas) 2Co 8:4 μετὰ πολλῆς παρακλήσεως δεόμενοι ἡμῶν τὴν χάριν καὶ τὴν κοινωνίαν τῆς διακονίας τῆς εἰς τοὺς ἁγίους _ (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:4 cum multa exhortatione obsecrantes nos gratiam, et communicationem ministerii, quod fit in sanctos.(vulgate) בִּקְשׁוּ מִמֶּנּוּ בְּתַחֲנוּנִים רַבִּים עַל־דְּבַר נִדְבָתָם זֶה חַסְדָּם וְחֵלֶק עֲבֹדָתָם לַקְּדוֹשִׁים׃ ד Corinthians2 2Co 8:4 und baten uns mit vielem Zureden, daß wir aufnähmen die Wohltat und Gemeinschaft der Handreichung, die da geschieht den Heiligen;(dhs) 2Co 8:4 imploring us with much urgency that we would receive the gift and the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:5 ============ 2Co 8:5 and this, not as we had expected, but they first gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God.(nas) 2Co 8:5 καὶ οὐ καθὼς ἠλπίσαμεν ἀλλ᾽ ἑαυτοὺς ἔδωκαν πρῶτον τῶ κυρίῳ καὶ ἡμῖν διὰ θελήματος θεοῦ, (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:5 Et non sicut speravimus, sed semetipsos dederunt primum Domino, deinde nobis per voluntatem Dei,(vulgate) וְגַם־עָשׂוּ יֶתֶר מֵאֲשֶׁר קִוִּינוּ כִּי בַתְּחִלָּה הִקְדִּישׁוּ נַפְשָׁם לַאֲדֹנֵינוּ וְלָנוּ בִּרְצוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים׃ ה Corinthians2 2Co 8:5 und nicht, wie wir hofften, sondern sie ergaben sich selbst, zuerst dem HERRN und darnach uns, durch den Willen Gottes,(dhs) 2Co 8:5 And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:6 ============ 2Co 8:6 So we urged Titus that as he had previously made a beginning, so he would also complete in you this gracious work as well.(nas) 2Co 8:6 εἰς τὸ παρακαλέσαι ἡμᾶς τίτον ἵνα καθὼς προενήρξατο οὕτως καὶ ἐπιτελέσῃ εἰς ὑμᾶς καὶ τὴν χάριν ταύτην. (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:6 ita ut rogaremus Titum, ut quemadmodum cœpit, ita et perficiat in vobis etiam gratiam istam.(vulgate) וּלְפִי־זֹאת בִּקַּשְׁנוּ מֵאֵת טִיטוֹס כַּאֲשֶׁר הֵחֵל מֵאָז כֵּן יְכַלֶּה מַעֲשֵׂה הַחֶסֶד הַזֶּה בָּכֶם׃ ו Corinthians2 2Co 8:6 daß wir mußten Titus ermahnen, auf daß er, wie er zuvor angefangen hatte, also auch unter euch solche Wohltat ausrichtete.(dhs) 2Co 8:6 So we urged Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also complete this grace in you as well.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:7 ============ 2Co 8:7 But just as you abound in everything, in faith and utterance and knowledge and in all earnestness and in the love we inspired in you, see that you abound in this gracious work also.(nas) 2Co 8:7 ἀλλ᾽ ὥσπερ ἐν παντὶ περισσεύετε, πίστει καὶ λόγῳ καὶ γνώσει καὶ πάσῃ σπουδῇ καὶ τῇ ἐξ ἡμῶν ἐν ὑμῖν ἀγάπῃ, ἵνα καὶ ἐν ταύτῃ τῇ χάριτι περισσεύητε. (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:7 Sed sicut in omnibus abundatis fide, et sermone, et scientia, et omni sollicitudine, insuper et caritate vestra in nos, ut et in hac gratia abundetis.(vulgate) וְהִנֵּה כַּאֲשֶׁר חֵלֶק רַב לָכֶם בַּכֹּל בֶּאֱמוּנָה בְּתוֹרָה וּבְדַעַת בְּכָל־מַאֲמַצֵּי כֹחַ וּבְאַהֲבָה אֲשֶׁר תֶּאֱהָבֻנוּ כֵּן תַּרְבּוּ חֶלְקְכֶם גַּם־בַּחֶסֶד הַזֶּה׃ ז Corinthians2 2Co 8:7 Aber gleichwie ihr in allen Stücken reich seid, im Glauben und im Wort und in der Erkenntnis und in allerlei Fleiß und in eurer Liebe zu uns, also schaffet, daß ihr auch in dieser Wohltat reich seid.(dhs) 2Co 8:7 But as you abound in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us--see that you abound in this grace also.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:8 ============ 2Co 8:8 I am not speaking this as a command, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity of your love also.(nas) 2Co 8:8 οὐ κατ᾽ ἐπιταγὴν λέγω, ἀλλὰ διὰ τῆς ἑτέρων σπουδῆς καὶ τὸ τῆς ὑμετέρας ἀγάπης γνήσιον δοκιμάζων· (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:8 Non quasi imperans dico: sed per aliorum sollicitudinem, etiam vestræ caritatis ingenium bonum comprobans.(vulgate) וְלֹא כִדְבַר מִצְוָה אֲנִי אֹמֵר כִּי אִם־לְנַסֹּתְכֶם בְּמַאֲמַצֵּי כֹחַ אֲחֵרִים לִרְאוֹת אִם־אַהֲבַתְכֶם זַכָּה׃ ח Corinthians2 2Co 8:8 Nicht sage ich, daß ich etwas gebiete; sondern, dieweil andere so fleißig sind, versuche ich auch eure Liebe, ob sie rechter Art sei.(dhs) 2Co 8:8 I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:9 ============ 2Co 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.(nas) 2Co 8:9 γινώσκετε γὰρ τὴν χάριν τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ, ὅτι δι᾽ ὑμᾶς ἐπτώχευσεν πλούσιος ὤν, ἵνα ὑμεῖς τῇ ἐκείνου πτωχείᾳ πλουτήσητε. (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:9 Scitis enim gratiam Domini nostri Jesu Christi, quoniam propter vos egenus factus est, cum esset dives, ut illius inopia vos divites essetis.(vulgate) כִּי־יְדַעְתֶּם אֶת־חֶסֶד יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲדֹנֵינוּ כִּי עָשִׁיר הָיָה וַיְהִי לְרָשׁ לְמַעַנְכֶם אֲשֶׁר עֵקֶב רִישׁוֹ תַּעֲשִׁירוּ׃ ט Corinthians2 2Co 8:9 Denn ihr wisset die Gnade unsers HERRN Jesu Christi, daß, ob er wohl reich ist, ward er doch arm um euretwillen, auf daß ihr durch seine Armut reich würdet.(dhs) 2Co 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:10 ============ 2Co 8:10 I give my opinion in this matter, for this is to your advantage, who were the first to begin a year ago not only to do this, but also to desire to do it.(nas) 2Co 8:10 καὶ γνώμην ἐν τούτῳ δίδωμι· τοῦτο γὰρ ὑμῖν συμφέρει, οἵτινες οὐ μόνον τὸ ποιῆσαι ἀλλὰ καὶ τὸ θέλειν προενήρξασθε ἀπὸ πέρυσι· (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:10 Et consilium in hoc do: hoc enim vobis utile est, qui non solum facere, sed et velle cœpistis ab anno priore:(vulgate) וַאֲנִי מְחַוֶּה דַעְתִּי בַדָּבָר הַזֶּל לְהוֹעִיל לָכֶם אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר הַחִלֹּתֶם זֶה שָׁנָה לֹא רַק לַעֲשׂוֹת חֶסֶד כִּי אִם־גַּם לַעֲשׁתוֹ בְּחֵפֶץ לֵב׃ י Corinthians2 2Co 8:10 Und meine Meinung hierin gebe ich; denn solches ist euch nützlich, die ihr angefangen habt vom vorigen Jahre her nicht allein das Tun, sondern auch das Wollen;(dhs) 2Co 8:10 And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago;(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:11 ============ 2Co 8:11 But now finish doing it also, so that just as there was the readiness to desire it, so there may be also the completion of it by your ability.(nas) 2Co 8:11 νυνὶ δὲ καὶ τὸ ποιῆσαι ἐπιτελέσατε, ὅπως καθάπερ ἡ προθυμία τοῦ θέλειν οὕτως καὶ τὸ ἐπιτελέσαι ἐκ τοῦ ἔχειν. (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:11 nunc vero et facto perficite: ut quemadmodum promptus est animus voluntatis, ita sit et perficiendi ex eo quod habetis.(vulgate) וְעַתָּה הַשְׁלִימוּ אֶת־הַמַּעֲשֶׂה וְכַלּוּ אֶת־הַמְלָאכָה לְפִי רוּחֲכֶם הַנְּדִיבָה כַּאֲשֶׁר תִּמְצָא יֶדְכֶם׃ יא Corinthians2 2Co 8:11 nun aber vollbringet auch das Tun, auf daß, gleichwie da ist ein geneigtes Gemüt, zu wollen, so sei auch da ein geneigtes Gemüt, zu tun von dem, was ihr habt.(dhs) 2Co 8:11 but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:12 ============ 2Co 8:12 For if the readiness is present, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.(nas) 2Co 8:12 εἰ γὰρ ἡ προθυμία πρόκειται, καθὸ ἐὰν ἔχῃ εὐπρόσδεκτος, οὐ καθὸ οὐκ ἔχει. (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:12 Si enim voluntas prompta est, secundum id quod habet, accepta est, non secundum id quod non habet.(vulgate) כִּי אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר רוּחוֹ נְדִיבָה יִהְיֶה לְרָצוֹן כְּפִי אֲשֶׁר יֶשׁ־לְאֵל יָדוֹ וְלֹא־כְפִי אֲשֶׁר אֵין־לְאֵל יָדוֹ׃ יב Corinthians2 2Co 8:12 Denn so einer willig ist, so ist er angenehm, nach dem er hat, nicht nach dem er nicht hat.(dhs) 2Co 8:12 For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:13 ============ 2Co 8:13 For this is not for the ease of others and for your affliction, but by way of equality--(nas) 2Co 8:13 οὐ γὰρ ἵνα ἄλλοις ἄνεσις, ὑμῖν θλῖψις· ἀλλ᾽ ἐξ ἰσότητος (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:13 Non enim ut aliis sit remissio, vobis autem tribulatio, sed ex æqualitate.(vulgate) כִּי לֹא לִרְוָחָה לַאֲחֵרִים וּלְמַעֲמָסָה עֲלֵיכֶם דְּבָרָי׃ יג Corinthians2 2Co 8:13 Nicht geschieht das in der Meinung, daß die andern Ruhe haben, und ihr Trübsal, sondern daß es gleich sei.(dhs) 2Co 8:13 For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened;(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:14 ============ 2Co 8:14 at this present time your abundance being a supply for their need, so that their abundance also may become a supply for your need, that there may be equality;(nas) 2Co 8:14 ἐν τῶ νῦν καιρῶ τὸ ὑμῶν περίσσευμα εἰς τὸ ἐκείνων ὑστέρημα, ἵνα καὶ τὸ ἐκείνων περίσσευμα γένηται εἰς τὸ ὑμῶν ὑστέρημα, ὅπως γένηται ἰσότης· (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:14 In præsenti tempore vestra abundantia illorum inopiam suppleat: ut et illorum abundantia vestræ inopiæ sit supplementum, ut fiat æqualitas, sicut scriptum est:(vulgate) כִּי אִם־בְּקַו הַשָּׁוֶה הַיּוֹם יִתְרָה לָכֶם לְמַלֵּא מַחְסֹרָם וּלְעֵת אַחֶרֶת יִתְרָתָם תִּהְיֶה לְמַלֵּא מַחְסֹרְכֶם לְמַעַן יִהְיֶה קַו שָׁוֶה׃ יד Corinthians2 2Co 8:14 So diene euer Überfluß ihrem Mangel diese teure Zeit lang, auf daß auch ihr Überfluß hernach diene eurem Mangel und ein Ausgleich geschehe;(dhs) 2Co 8:14 but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack--that there may be equality.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:15 ============ 2Co 8:15 as it is written, "HE WHO gathered MUCH DID NOT HAVE TOO MUCH, AND HE WHO gathered LITTLE HAD NO LACK."(nas) 2Co 8:15 καθὼς γέγραπται, ὁ τὸ πολὺ οὐκ ἐπλεόνασεν, καὶ ὁ τὸ ὀλίγον οὐκ ἠλαττόνησεν. (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:15 Qui multum, non abundavit: et qui modicum, non minoravit.~(vulgate) כַּכָּתוּב וְלֹא הֶעְדִּיף הַמַּרְבֶּה וְהַמַּמְעִיט לֹא הֶחְסִיר׃ טו Corinthians2 2Co 8:15 wie geschrieben steht: "Der viel sammelte, hatte nicht Überfluß, der wenig sammelte, hatte nicht Mangel."(dhs) 2Co 8:15 As it is written, "He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack."(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:16 ============ 2Co 8:16 But thanks be to God who puts the same earnestness on your behalf in the heart of Titus.(nas) 2Co 8:16 χάρις δὲ τῶ θεῶ τῶ δόντι τὴν αὐτὴν σπουδὴν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ τίτου, (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:16 Gratias autem Deo, qui dedit eamdem sollicitudinem pro vobis in corde Titi,(vulgate) וַאֲנִי אוֹדֶה אֶת־אֱלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר נָתַן בְּלֵב טִיטוֹס לָחוּשׁ לָכֶם כָּזֹאת׃ טז Corinthians2 2Co 8:16 Gott aber sei Dank, der solchen Eifer für euch gegeben hat in das Herz des Titus.(dhs) 2Co 8:16 But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:17 ============ 2Co 8:17 For he not only accepted our appeal, but being himself very earnest, he has gone to you of his own accord.(nas) 2Co 8:17 ὅτι τὴν μὲν παράκλησιν ἐδέξατο, σπουδαιότερος δὲ ὑπάρχων αὐθαίρετος ἐξῆλθεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς. (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:17 quoniam exhortationem quidem suscepit: sed cum sollicitior esset, sua voluntate profectus est ad vos.(vulgate) כִּי לֹא רַק אֶת־פְּקֻדָּתֵנוּ שָׁמָר כִּי אִם־רַב פְּעָלִים הַזֶּה הָלַךְ אֲלֵיכֶם מֵרְצוֹן נַפְשׁוֹ׃ יז Corinthians2 2Co 8:17 Denn er nahm zwar die Ermahnung an; aber dieweil er fleißig war, ist er von selber zu euch gereist.(dhs) 2Co 8:17 For he not only accepted the exhortation, but being more diligent, he went to you of his own accord.(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:18 ============ 2Co 8:18 We have sent along with him the brother whose fame in the things of the gospel has spread through all the churches;(nas) 2Co 8:18 συνεπέμψαμεν δὲ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ τὸν ἀδελφὸν οὖ ὁ ἔπαινος ἐν τῶ εὐαγγελίῳ διὰ πασῶν τῶν ἐκκλησιῶν (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:18 Misimus etiam cum illo fratrem, cujus laus est in Evangelio per omnes ecclesias:(vulgate) וַנִּשְׁלַח עִמּוֹ אֶת־אָחִינוּ אֲשֶׁר נוֹדַע לִתְהִלָּה בַּבְּשׁרָה בְּכָל־הַקְּהִלּוֹת׃ יח Corinthians2 2Co 8:18 Wir haben aber einen Bruder mit ihm gesandt, der das Lob hat am Evangelium durch alle Gemeinden.(dhs) 2Co 8:18 And we have sent with him the brother whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches,(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:19 ============ 2Co 8:19 and not only this, but he has also been appointed by the churches to travel with us in this gracious work, which is being administered by us for the glory of the Lord Himself, and to show our readiness,(nas) 2Co 8:19 _ οὐ μόνον δὲ ἀλλὰ καὶ χειροτονηθεὶς ὑπὸ τῶν ἐκκλησιῶν συνέκδημος ἡμῶν σὺν τῇ χάριτι ταύτῃ τῇ διακονουμένῃ ὑφ᾽ ἡμῶν πρὸς τὴν [αὐτοῦ] τοῦ κυρίου δόξαν καὶ προθυμίαν ἡμῶν _ (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:19 non solum autem, sed et ordinatus est ab ecclesiis comes peregrinationis nostræ in hanc gratiam, quæ ministratur a nobis ad Domini gloriam, et destinatam voluntatem nostram:(vulgate) וּמִלְּבַד זֹאת נִבְחַר גַּם־הוּא מֵאַנְשֵׁי הַקְּהִלּוֹת לָלֶכֶת עִמָּנוּ בַּעֲבֹדָתֵנוּ לֶאֱסֹף הַנְּדָבוֹת לִכְבוֹד אֲדֹנֵינוּ וְלַעֲזָר־לָנוּ׃ יט Corinthians2 2Co 8:19 Nicht allein aber das, sondern er ist auch verordnet von den Gemeinden zum Gefährten unsrer Fahrt in dieser Wohltat, welche durch uns ausgerichtet wird dem HERRN zu Ehren und zum Preis eures guten Willens.(dhs) 2Co 8:19 and not only that, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this gift, which is administered by us to the glory of the Lord Himself and to show your ready mind,(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:20 ============ 2Co 8:20 taking precaution so that no one will discredit us in our administration of this generous gift;(nas) 2Co 8:20 στελλόμενοι τοῦτο μή τις ἡμᾶς μωμήσηται ἐν τῇ ἁδρότητι ταύτῃ τῇ διακονουμένῃ ὑφ᾽ ἡμῶν· (Nestle-Aland) 2Co 8:20 devitantes hoc, ne quis nos vituperet in hac plenitudine, quæ ministratur a nobis.(vulgate) וְאַף גַּם־לְהַרְחִיק מֵעָלֵינוּ דִּבָּה רָעָה עַל־דְּבַר הַכֶּסֶף הָרָב אֲשֶׁר אָסַפְנוּ בַּעֲבֹדָתֵנוּ׃ כ Corinthians2 2Co 8:20 Also verhüten wir, daß uns nicht jemand übel nachreden möge solcher reichen Steuer halben, die durch uns ausgerichtet wird;(dhs) 2Co 8:20 avoiding this: that anyone should blame us in this lavish gift which is administered by us--(nkjv) ======= 2 Corinthians 8:21 ============ 2Co 8:21 for we have regard for what is honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.(nas) 2Co 8:21 προνοοῦμεν γὰρ καλὰ οὐ μόνον ἐνώπιον κυρίου ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐνώπιον ἀνθρώπων.
