Today's Date: Job 21:34 How then can you comfort me with empty words, Since falsehood remains in your answers?"(nkjv) ======= Job 22:1 ============ Job 22:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite responded,(nasb) Job 22:1 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ελιφας ὁ Θαιμανίτης λέγει (lxx) Job 22:1 Respondens autem Eliphaz Themanites, dixit:(vulgate) Job 22:1 Da antwortete Eliphas von Theman und sprach:(dhs) Job 22:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 22:2 ============ Job 22:2 "Can a vigorous man be of use to God, Or a wise man be useful to himself?(nasb) Job 22:2 πότερον οὐχὶ ὁ κύριός ἐστιν ὁ διδάσκων σύνεσιν καὶ ἐπιστήμην (lxx) Job 22:2 [Numquid Deo potest comparari homo, etiam cum perfectæ fuerit scientiæ?(vulgate) Job 22:2 Kann denn ein Mann Gottes etwas nützen? Nur sich selber nützt ein Kluger.(dhs) Job 22:2 "Can a man be profitable to God, Though he who is wise may be profitable to himself?(nkjv) ======= Job 22:3 ============ Job 22:3 "Is there any pleasure to the Almighty if you are righteous, Or profit if you make your ways perfect?(nasb) Job 22:3 τί γὰρ μέλει τῷ κυρίῳ ἐὰν σὺ ἦσθα τοῖς ἔργοις ἄμεμπτος ἢ ὠφέλεια ὅτι ἁπλώσῃς τὴν ὁδόν σου (lxx) Job 22:3 Quid prodest Deo, si justus fueris? aut quid ei confers, si immaculata fuerit via tua?(vulgate) Job 22:3 Meinst du, dem Allmächtigen liege daran, daß du gerecht seist? Was hilft's ihm, wenn deine Wege ohne Tadel sind?(dhs) Job 22:3 Is it any pleasure to the Almighty that you are righteous? Or is it gain to Him that you make your ways blameless?(nkjv) ======= Job 22:4 ============ Job 22:4 "Is it because of your reverence that He reproves you, That He enters into judgment against you?(nasb) Job 22:4 ἦ λόγον σου ποιούμενος ἐλέγξει σε καὶ συνεισελεύσεταί σοι εἰς κρίσιν (lxx) Job 22:4 Numquid timens arguet te, et veniet tecum in judicium,(vulgate) Job 22:4 Meinst du wegen deiner Gottesfurcht strafe er dich und gehe mit dir ins Gericht?(dhs) Job 22:4 "Is it because of your fear of Him that He corrects you, And enters into judgment with you?(nkjv) ======= Job 22:5 ============ Job 22:5 "Is not your wickedness great, And your iniquities without end?(nasb) Job 22:5 πότερον οὐχ ἡ κακία σού ἐστιν πολλή ἀναρίθμητοι δέ σού εἰσιν αἱ ἁμαρτίαι (lxx) Job 22:5 et non propter malitiam tuam plurimam, et infinitas iniquitates tuas?(vulgate) Job 22:5 Nein, deine Bosheit ist zu groß, und deiner Missetaten ist kein Ende.(dhs) Job 22:5 Is not your wickedness great, And your iniquity without end?(nkjv) ======= Job 22:6 ============ Job 22:6 "For you have taken pledges of your brothers without cause, And stripped men naked.(nasb) Job 22:6 ἠνεχύραζες δὲ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου διὰ κενῆς ἀμφίασιν δὲ γυμνῶν ἀφείλου (lxx) Job 22:6 Abstulisti enim pignus fratrum tuorum sine causa, et nudos spoliasti vestibus.(vulgate) Job 22:6 Du hast etwa deinem Bruder ein Pfand genommen ohne Ursache; du hast den Nackten die Kleider ausgezogen;(dhs) Job 22:6 For you have taken pledges from your brother for no reason, And stripped the naked of their clothing.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:7 ============ Job 22:7 "To the weary you have given no water to drink, And from the hungry you have withheld bread.(nasb) Job 22:7 οὐδὲ ὕδωρ διψῶντας ἐπότισας ἀλλὰ πεινώντων ἐστέρησας ψωμόν (lxx) Job 22:7 Aquam lasso non dedisti, et esurienti subtraxisti panem.(vulgate) Job 22:7 du hast die Müden nicht getränkt mit Wasser und hast dem Hungrigen dein Brot versagt;(dhs) Job 22:7 You have not given the weary water to drink, And you have withheld bread from the hungry.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:8 ============ Job 22:8 "But the earth belongs to the mighty man, And the honorable man dwells in it.(nasb) Job 22:8 ἐθαύμασας δέ τινων πρόσωπον ᾤκισας δὲ τοὺς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (lxx) Job 22:8 In fortitudine brachii tui possidebas terram, et potentissimus obtinebas eam.(vulgate) Job 22:8 du hast Gewalt im Lande geübt und prächtig darin gegessen;(dhs) Job 22:8 But the mighty man possessed the land, And the honorable man dwelt in it.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:9 ============ Job 22:9 "You have sent widows away empty, And the strength of the orphans has been crushed.(nasb) Job 22:9 χήρας δὲ ἐξαπέστειλας κενάς ὀρφανοὺς δὲ ἐκάκωσας (lxx) Job 22:9 Viduas dimisisti vacuas, et lacertos pupillorum comminuisti.(vulgate) Job 22:9 die Witwen hast du leer lassen gehen und die Arme der Waisen zerbrochen.(dhs) Job 22:9 You have sent widows away empty, And the strength of the fatherless was crushed.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:10 ============ Job 22:10 "Therefore snares surround you, And sudden dread terrifies you,(nasb) Job 22:10 τοιγαροῦν ἐκύκλωσάν σε παγίδες καὶ ἐσπούδασέν σε πόλεμος ἐξαίσιος (lxx) Job 22:10 Propterea circumdatus es laqueis, et conturbat te formido subita.(vulgate) Job 22:10 Darum bist du mit Stricken umgeben, und Furcht hat dich plötzlich erschreckt.(dhs) Job 22:10 Therefore snares are all around you, And sudden fear troubles you,(nkjv) ======= Job 22:11 ============ Job 22:11 Or darkness, so that you cannot see, And an abundance of water covers you.(nasb) Job 22:11 τὸ φῶς σοι σκότος ἀπέβη κοιμηθέντα δὲ ὕδωρ σε ἐκάλυψεν (lxx) Job 22:11 Et putabas te tenebras non visurum, et impetu aquarum inundantium non oppressum iri?(vulgate) Job 22:11 Solltest du denn nicht die Finsternis sehen und die Wasserflut, die dich bedeckt?(dhs) Job 22:11 Or darkness so that you cannot see; And an abundance of water covers you.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:12 ============ Job 22:12 "Is not God in the height of heaven? Look also at the distant stars, how high they are!(nasb) Job 22:12 μὴ οὐχὶ ὁ τὰ ὑψηλὰ ναίων ἐφορᾷ τοὺς δὲ ὕβρει φερομένους ἐταπείνωσεν (lxx) Job 22:12 an non cogitas quod Deus excelsior cælo sit, et super stellarum verticem sublimetur?(vulgate) Job 22:12 Ist nicht Gott hoch droben im Himmel? Siehe, die Sterne an droben in der Höhe!(dhs) Job 22:12 "Is not God in the height of heaven? And see the highest stars, how lofty they are!(nkjv) ======= Job 22:13 ============ Job 22:13 "You say, 'What does God know? Can He judge through the thick darkness?(nasb) Job 22:13 καὶ εἶπας τί ἔγνω ὁ ἰσχυρός ἦ κατὰ τοῦ γνόφου κρινεῖ (lxx) Job 22:13 Et dicis: Quid enim novit Deus? et quasi per caliginem judicat.(vulgate) Job 22:13 Und du sprichst: "Was weiß Gott? Sollte er, was im Dunkeln ist, richten können?(dhs) Job 22:13 And you say, 'What does God know? Can He judge through the deep darkness?(nkjv) ======= Job 22:14 ============ Job 22:14 'Clouds are a hiding place for Him, so that He cannot see; And He walks on the vault of heaven.'(nasb) Job 22:14 νέφη ἀποκρυφὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐχ ὁραθήσεται καὶ γῦρον οὐρανοῦ διαπορεύσεται (lxx) Job 22:14 Nubes latibulum ejus, nec nostra considerat, et circa cardines cæli perambulat.(vulgate) Job 22:14 Die Wolken sind die Vordecke, und er sieht nicht; er wandelt im Umkreis des Himmels."(dhs) Job 22:14 Thick clouds cover Him, so that He cannot see, And He walks above the circle of heaven.'(nkjv) ======= Job 22:15 ============ Job 22:15 "Will you keep to the ancient path Which wicked men have trod,(nasb) Job 22:15 μὴ τρίβον αἰώνιον φυλάξεις ἣν ἐπάτησαν ἄνδρες ἄδικοι (lxx) Job 22:15 Numquid semitam sæculorum custodire cupis, quam calcaverunt viri iniqui,(vulgate) Job 22:15 Achtest du wohl auf den Weg, darin vorzeiten die Ungerechten gegangen sind?(dhs) Job 22:15 Will you keep to the old way Which wicked men have trod,(nkjv) ======= Job 22:16 ============ Job 22:16 Who were snatched away before their time, Whose foundations were washed away by a river?(nasb) Job 22:16 οἳ συνελήμφθησαν ἄωροι ποταμὸς ἐπιρρέων οἱ θεμέλιοι αὐτῶν (lxx) Job 22:16 qui sublati sunt ante tempus suum, et fluvius subvertit fundamentum eorum?(vulgate) Job 22:16 die vergangen sind, ehe denn es Zeit war, und das Wasser hat ihren Grund weggewaschen;(dhs) Job 22:16 Who were cut down before their time, Whose foundations were swept away by a flood?(nkjv) ======= Job 22:17 ============ Job 22:17 "They said to God, 'Depart from us!' And 'What can the Almighty do to them?'(nasb) Job 22:17 οἱ λέγοντες κύριος τί ποιήσει ἡμῖν ἢ τί ἐπάξεται ἡμῖν ὁ παντοκράτωρ (lxx) Job 22:17 Qui dicebant Deo: Recede a nobis: et quasi nihil posset facere Omnipotens, æstimabant eum,(vulgate) Job 22:17 die zu Gott sprachen: "Hebe dich von uns! was sollte der Allmächtige uns tun können?"(dhs) Job 22:17 They said to God, 'Depart from us! What can the Almighty do to them?'(nkjv) ======= Job 22:18 ============ Job 22:18 "Yet He filled their houses with good things; But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.(nasb) Job 22:18 ὃς δὲ ἐνέπλησεν τοὺς οἴκους αὐτῶν ἀγαθῶν βουλὴ δὲ ἀσεβῶν πόρρω ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 22:18 cum ille implesset domos eorum bonis: quorum sententia procul sit a me.(vulgate) Job 22:18 so er doch ihr Haus mit Gütern füllte. Aber der Gottlosen Rat sei ferne von mir.(dhs) Job 22:18 Yet He filled their houses with good things; But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:19 ============ Job 22:19 "The righteous see and are glad, And the innocent mock them,(nasb) Job 22:19 ἰδόντες δίκαιοι ἐγέλασαν ἄμεμπτος δὲ ἐμυκτήρισεν (lxx) Job 22:19 Videbunt justi, et lætabuntur, et innocens subsannabit eos:(vulgate) Job 22:19 Die Gerechten werden es sehen und sich freuen, und der Unschuldige wird ihrer spotten:(dhs) Job 22:19 "The righteous see it and are glad, And the innocent laugh at them:(nkjv) ======= Job 22:20 ============ Job 22:20 Saying, 'Truly our adversaries are cut off, And their abundance the fire has consumed.'(nasb) Job 22:20 εἰ μὴ ἠφανίσθη ἡ ὑπόστασις αὐτῶν καὶ τὸ κατάλειμμα αὐτῶν καταφάγεται πῦρ (lxx) Job 22:20 nonne succisa est erectio eorum? et reliquias eorum devoravit ignis?(vulgate) Job 22:20 "Fürwahr, unser Widersacher ist verschwunden; und sein Übriggelassenes hat das Feuer verzehrt."(dhs) Job 22:20 'Surely our adversaries are cut down, And the fire consumes their remnant.'(nkjv) ======= Job 22:21 ============ Job 22:21 "Yield now and be at peace with Him; Thereby good will come to you.(nasb) Job 22:21 γενοῦ δὴ σκληρός ἐὰν ὑπομείνῃς εἶτ᾽ ὁ καρπός σου ἔσται ἐν ἀγαθοῖς (lxx) Job 22:21 Acquiesce igitur ei, et habeto pacem, et per hæc habebis fructus optimos.(vulgate) Job 22:21 So vertrage dich nun mit ihm und habe Frieden; daraus wird dir viel Gutes kommen.(dhs) Job 22:21 "Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:22 ============ Job 22:22 "Please receive instruction from His mouth And establish His words in your heart.(nasb) Job 22:22 ἔκλαβε δὲ ἐκ στόματος αὐτοῦ ἐξηγορίαν καὶ ἀνάλαβε τὰ ῥήματα αὐτοῦ ἐν καρδίᾳ σου (lxx) Job 22:22 Suscipe ex ore illius legem, et pone sermones ejus in corde tuo.(vulgate) Job 22:22 Höre das Gesetz von seinem Munde und fasse seine Reden in dein Herz.(dhs) Job 22:22 Receive, please, instruction from His mouth, And lay up His words in your heart.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:23 ============ Job 22:23 "If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored; If you remove unrighteousness far from your tent,(nasb) Job 22:23 ἐὰν δὲ ἐπιστραφῇς καὶ ταπεινώσῃς σεαυτὸν ἔναντι κυρίου πόρρω ἐποίησας ἀπὸ διαίτης σου τὸ ἄδικον (lxx) Job 22:23 Si reversus fueris ad Omnipotentem, ædificaberis, et longe facies iniquitatem a tabernaculo tuo.(vulgate) Job 22:23 Wirst du dich bekehren zu dem Allmächtigen, so wirst du aufgebaut werden. Tue nur Unrecht ferne hinweg von deiner Hütte(dhs) Job 22:23 If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up; You will remove iniquity far from your tents.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:24 ============ Job 22:24 And place your gold in the dust, And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks,(nasb) Job 22:24 θήσῃ ἐπὶ χώματι ἐν πέτρᾳ καὶ ὡς πέτρᾳ χειμάρρους Ωφιρ (lxx) Job 22:24 Dabit pro terra silicem, et pro silice torrentes aureos.(vulgate) Job 22:24 und wirf in den Staub dein Gold und zu den Steinen der Bäche das Ophirgold,(dhs) Job 22:24 Then you will lay your gold in the dust, And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:25 ============ Job 22:25 Then the Almighty will be your gold And choice silver to you.(nasb) Job 22:25 ἔσται οὖν σου ὁ παντοκράτωρ βοηθὸς ἀπὸ ἐχθρῶν καθαρὸν δὲ ἀποδώσει σε ὥσπερ ἀργύριον πεπυρωμένον (lxx) Job 22:25 Eritque Omnipotens contra hostes tuos, et argentum coacervabitur tibi.(vulgate) Job 22:25 so wird der Allmächtige dein Gold sein und wie Silber, das dir zugehäuft wird.(dhs) Job 22:25 Yes, the Almighty will be your gold And your precious silver;(nkjv) ======= Job 22:26 ============ Job 22:26 "For then you will delight in the Almighty And lift up your face to God.(nasb) Job 22:26 εἶτα παρρησιασθήσῃ ἔναντι κυρίου ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν ἱλαρῶς (lxx) Job 22:26 Tunc super Omnipotentem deliciis afflues, et elevabis ad Deum faciem tuam.(vulgate) Job 22:26 Dann wirst du Lust haben an dem Allmächtigen und dein Antlitz zu Gott aufheben.(dhs) Job 22:26 For then you will have your delight in the Almighty, And lift up your face to God.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:27 ============ Job 22:27 "You will pray to Him, and He will hear you; And you will pay your vows.(nasb) Job 22:27 εὐξαμένου δέ σου πρὸς αὐτὸν εἰσακούσεταί σου δώσει δέ σοι ἀποδοῦναι τὰς εὐχάς (lxx) Job 22:27 Rogabis eum, et exaudiet te, et vota tua reddes.(vulgate) Job 22:27 So wirst du ihn bitten, und er wird dich hören, und wirst dein Gelübde bezahlen.(dhs) Job 22:27 You will make your prayer to Him, He will hear you, And you will pay your vows.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:28 ============ Job 22:28 "You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And light will shine on your ways.(nasb) Job 22:28 ἀποκαταστήσει δέ σοι δίαιταν δικαιοσύνης ἐπὶ δὲ ὁδοῖς σου ἔσται φέγγος (lxx) Job 22:28 Decernes rem, et veniet tibi, et in viis tuis splendebit lumen.(vulgate) Job 22:28 Was du wirst vornehmen, wird er dir lassen gelingen; und das Licht wird auf deinem Wege scheinen.(dhs) Job 22:28 You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.(nkjv) ======= Job 22:29 ============ Job 22:29 "When you are cast down, you will speak with confidence, And the humble person He will save.(nasb) Job 22:29 ὅτι ἐταπείνωσεν αὐτόν καὶ ἐρεῖς ὑπερηφανεύσατο καὶ κύφοντα ὀφθαλμοῖς σώσει (lxx) Job 22:29 Qui enim humiliatus fuerit, erit in gloria, et qui inclinaverit oculos, ipse salvabitur.(vulgate) Job 22:29 Denn die sich demütigen, die erhöht er; und wer seine Augen niederschlägt, der wird genesen.(dhs) Job 22:29 When they cast you down, and you say, 'Exaltation will come!'
