Today's Date: Job 41:34 He beholds every high thing; He is king over all the children of pride."(nkjv) ======= Job 42:1 ============ Job 42:1 Then Job answered the Lord and said,(nasb) Job 42:1 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ιωβ λέγει τῷ κυρίῳ (lxx) Job 42:1 Respondens autem Job Domino, dixit:(vulgate) Job 42:1 Und Hiob antwortete dem HERRN und sprach:(dhs) Job 42:1 Then Job answered the Lord and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 42:2 ============ Job 42:2 "I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.(nasb) Job 42:2 οἶδα ὅτι πάντα δύνασαι ἀδυνατεῖ δέ σοι οὐθέν (lxx) Job 42:2 [Scio quia omnia potes, et nulla te latet cogitatio.(vulgate) Job 42:2 Ich erkenne, daß du alles vermagst, und nichts, das du dir vorgenommen, ist dir zu schwer.(dhs) Job 42:2 "I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:3 ============ Job 42:3 'Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge? 'Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know."(nasb) Job 42:3 τίς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ κρύπτων σε βουλήν φειδόμενος δὲ ῥημάτων καὶ σὲ οἴεται κρύπτειν τίς δὲ ἀναγγελεῖ μοι ἃ οὐκ ᾔδειν μεγάλα καὶ θαυμαστὰ ἃ οὐκ ἠπιστάμην (lxx) Job 42:3 Quis est iste qui celat consilium absque scientia? ideo insipienter locutus sum, et quæ ultra modum excederent scientiam meam.(vulgate) Job 42:3 "Wer ist der, der den Ratschluß verhüllt mit Unverstand?" Darum bekenne ich, daß ich habe unweise geredet, was mir zu hoch ist und ich nicht verstehe.(dhs) Job 42:3 You asked, 'Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:4 ============ Job 42:4 'Hear, now, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You instruct me.'(nasb) Job 42:4 ἄκουσον δέ μου κύριε ἵνα κἀγὼ λαλήσω ἐρωτήσω δέ σε σὺ δέ με δίδαξον (lxx) Job 42:4 Audi, et ego loquar: interrogabo te, et responde mihi.(vulgate) Job 42:4 "So höre nun, laß mich reden; ich will dich fragen, lehre mich!"(dhs) Job 42:4 Listen, please, and let me speak; You said, 'I will question you, and you shall answer Me.'(nkjv) ======= Job 42:5 ============ Job 42:5 "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You;(nasb) Job 42:5 ἀκοὴν μὲν ὠτὸς ἤκουόν σου τὸ πρότερον νυνὶ δὲ ὁ ὀφθαλμός μου ἑόρακέν σε (lxx) Job 42:5 Auditu auris audivi te: nunc autem oculus meus videt te.(vulgate) Job 42:5 Ich hatte von dir mit den Ohren gehört; aber nun hat dich mein Auge gesehen.(dhs) Job 42:5 "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:6 ============ Job 42:6 Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes."(nasb) Job 42:6 διὸ ἐφαύλισα ἐμαυτὸν καὶ ἐτάκην ἥγημαι δὲ ἐμαυτὸν γῆν καὶ σποδόν (lxx) Job 42:6 Idcirco ipse me reprehendo, et ago pœnitentiam in favilla et cinere.]~(vulgate) Job 42:6 Darum spreche ich mich schuldig und tue Buße in Staub und Asche.(dhs) Job 42:6 Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes."(nkjv) ======= Job 42:7 ============ Job 42:7 It came about after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has.(nasb) Job 42:7 ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ λαλῆσαι τὸν κύριον πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα τῷ Ιωβ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος Ελιφας τῷ Θαιμανίτῃ ἥμαρτες σὺ καὶ οἱ δύο φίλοι σου οὐ γὰρ ἐλαλήσατε ἐνώπιόν μου ἀληθὲς οὐδὲν ὥσπερ ὁ θεράπων μου Ιωβ (lxx) Job 42:7 Postquam autem locutus est Dominus verba hæc ad Job, dixit ad Eliphaz Themanitem: Iratus est furor meus in te, et in duos amicos tuos, quoniam non estis locuti coram me rectum, sicut servus meus Job.(vulgate) Job 42:7 Da nun der HERR mit Hiob diese Worte geredet hatte, sprach er zu Eliphas von Theman: Mein Zorn ist ergrimmt über dich und deine zwei Freunde; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.(dhs) Job 42:7 And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:8 ============ Job 42:8 Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you. For I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has."(nasb) Job 42:8 νῦν δὲ λάβετε ἑπτὰ μόσχους καὶ ἑπτὰ κριοὺς καὶ πορεύθητε πρὸς τὸν θεράποντά μου Ιωβ καὶ ποιήσει κάρπωσιν περὶ ὑμῶν Ιωβ δὲ ὁ θεράπων μου εὔξεται περὶ ὑμῶν ὅτι εἰ μὴ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ λήμψομαι εἰ μὴ γὰρ δι᾽ αὐτόν ἀπώλεσα ἂν ὑμᾶς οὐ γὰρ ἐλαλήσατε ἀληθὲς κατὰ τοῦ θεράποντός μου Ιωβ (lxx) Job 42:8 Sumite ergo vobis septem tauros et septem arietes, et ite ad servum meum Job, et offerte holocaustum pro vobis: Job autem servus meus orabit pro vobis. Faciem ejus suscipiam, ut non vobis imputetur stultitia: neque enim locuti estis ad me recta, sicut servus meus Job.(vulgate) Job 42:8 So nehmt nun sieben Farren und sieben Widder und geht hin zu meinem Knecht Hiob und opfert Brandopfer für euch und laßt meinen Knecht Hiob für euch bitten. Denn ich will ihn ansehen, daß ich an euch nicht tue nach eurer Torheit; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.(dhs) Job 42:8 Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has."(nkjv) ======= Job 42:9 ============ Job 42:9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord told them; and the Lord accepted Job.(nasb) Job 42:9 ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ελιφας ὁ Θαιμανίτης καὶ Βαλδαδ ὁ Σαυχίτης καὶ Σωφαρ ὁ Μιναῖος καὶ ἐποίησαν καθὼς συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ κύριος καὶ ἔλυσεν τὴν ἁμαρτίαν αὐτοῖς διὰ Ιωβ (lxx) Job 42:9 Abierunt ergo Eliphaz Themanites, et Baldad Suhites, et Sophar Naamathites, et fecerunt sicut locutus fuerat Dominus ad eos: et suscepit Dominus faciem Job.(vulgate) Job 42:9 Da gingen hin Eliphas von Theman, Bildad von Suah und Zophar von Naema und taten, wie der HERR ihnen gesagt hatte; und der HERR sah an Hiob.(dhs) Job 42:9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had accepted Job.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:10 ============ Job 42:10 The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold.(nasb) Job 42:10 ὁ δὲ κύριος ηὔξησεν τὸν Ιωβ εὐξαμένου δὲ αὐτοῦ καὶ περὶ τῶν φίλων αὐτοῦ ἀφῆκεν αὐτοῖς τὴν ἁμαρτίαν ἔδωκεν δὲ ὁ κύριος διπλᾶ ὅσα ἦν ἔμπροσθεν Ιωβ εἰς διπλασιασμόν (lxx) Job 42:10 Dominus quoque conversus est ad pœnitentiam Job, cum oraret ille pro amicis suis: et addidit Dominus omnia quæcumque fuerant Job, duplicia.(vulgate) Job 42:10 Und der HERR wandte das Gefängnis Hiobs, da er bat für seine Freunde. Und der Herr gab Hiob zwiefältig so viel, als er gehabt hatte.(dhs) Job 42:10 And the Lord restored Job's losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:11 ============ Job 42:11 Then all his brothers and all his sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversities that the Lord had brought on him. And each one gave him one piece of money, and each a ring of gold.(nasb) Job 42:11 ἤκουσαν δὲ πάντες οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ πάντα τὰ συμβεβηκότα αὐτῷ καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ πάντες ὅσοι ᾔδεισαν αὐτὸν ἐκ πρώτου φαγόντες δὲ καὶ πιόντες παρ᾽ αὐτῷ παρεκάλεσαν αὐτόν καὶ ἐθαύμασαν ἐπὶ πᾶσιν οἷς ἐπήγαγεν αὐτῷ ὁ κύριος ἔδωκεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἕκαστος ἀμνάδα μίαν καὶ τετράδραχμον χρυσοῦν ἄσημον (lxx) Job 42:11 Venerunt autem ad eum omnes fratres sui, et universæ sorores suæ, et cuncti qui noverant eum prius, et comederunt cum eo panem in domo ejus: et moverunt super eum caput, et consolati sunt eum super omni malo quod intulerat Dominus super eum: et dederunt ei unusquisque ovem unam, et inaurem auream unam.(vulgate) Job 42:11 Und es kamen zu ihm alle seine Brüder und alle seine Schwestern und alle, die ihn vormals kannten, und aßen mit ihm in seinem Hause und kehrten sich zu ihm und trösteten ihn über alles Übel, das der HERR hatte über ihn kommen lassen. Und ein jeglicher gab ihm einen schönen Groschen und ein goldenes Stirnband.(dhs) Job 42:11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the Lord had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:12 ============ Job 42:12 The Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; and he had 14,000 sheep and 6,000 camels and 1,000 yoke of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys.(nasb) Job 42:12 ὁ δὲ κύριος εὐλόγησεν τὰ ἔσχατα Ιωβ ἢ τὰ ἔμπροσθεν ἦν δὲ τὰ κτήνη αὐτοῦ πρόβατα μύρια τετρακισχίλια κάμηλοι ἑξακισχίλιαι ζεύγη βοῶν χίλια ὄνοι θήλειαι νομάδες χίλιαι (lxx) Job 42:12 Dominus autem benedixit novissimis Job magis quam principio ejus: et facta sunt ei quatuordecim millia ovium, et sex millia camelorum, et mille juga boum, et mille asinæ.(vulgate) Job 42:12 Und der HERR segnete hernach Hiob mehr denn zuvor, daß er kriegte vierzehntausend Schafe und sechstausend Kamele und tausend Joch Rinder und tausend Eselinnen.(dhs) Job 42:12 Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:13 ============ Job 42:13 He had seven sons and three daughters.(nasb) Job 42:13 γεννῶνται δὲ αὐτῷ υἱοὶ ἑπτὰ καὶ θυγατέρες τρεῖς (lxx) Job 42:13 Et fuerunt ei septem filii, et tres filiæ.(vulgate) Job 42:13 Und er kriegte sieben Söhne und drei Töchter;(dhs) Job 42:13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:14 ============ Job 42:14 He named the first Jemimah, and the second Keziah, and the third Keren-happuch.(nasb) Job 42:14 καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὴν μὲν πρώτην Ἡμέραν τὴν δὲ δευτέραν Κασίαν τὴν δὲ τρίτην Ἀμαλθείας κέρας (lxx) Job 42:14 Et vocavit nomen unius Diem, et nomen secundæ Cassiam, et nomen tertiæ Cornustibii.(vulgate) Job 42:14 und hieß die erste Jemima, die andere Kezia und die dritte Keren-Happuch.(dhs) Job 42:14 And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:15 ============ Job 42:15 In all the land no women were found so fair as Job's daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers.(nasb) Job 42:15 καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθησαν κατὰ τὰς θυγατέρας Ιωβ βελτίους αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ὑπ᾽ οὐρανόν ἔδωκεν δὲ αὐταῖς ὁ πατὴρ κληρονομίαν ἐν τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς (lxx) Job 42:15 Non sunt autem inventæ mulieres speciosæ sicut filiæ Job in universa terra: deditque eis pater suus hæreditatem inter fratres earum.(vulgate) Job 42:15 Und wurden nicht so schöne Weiber gefunden in allen Landen wie die Töchter Hiobs. Und ihr Vater gab ihnen Erbteil unter ihren Brüdern.(dhs) Job 42:15 In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:16 ============ Job 42:16 After this, Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations.(nasb) Job 42:16 ἔζησεν δὲ Ιωβ μετὰ τὴν πληγὴν ἔτη ἑκατὸν ἑβδομήκοντα τὰ δὲ πάντα ἔζησεν ἔτη διακόσια τεσσαράκοντα ὀκτώ καὶ εἶδεν Ιωβ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ τετάρτην γενεάν (lxx) Job 42:16 Vixit autem Job post hæc centum quadraginta annis, et vidit filios suos, et filios filiorum suorum usque ad quartam generationem:(vulgate) Job 42:16 Und Hiob lebte nach diesem hundert und vierzig Jahre, daß er sah Kinder und Kindeskinder bis ins vierte Glied.(dhs) Job 42:16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations.(nkjv) ======= Job 42:17 ============ Job 42:17 And Job died, an old man and full of days.(nasb) Job 42:17 καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν Ιωβ πρεσβύτερος καὶ πλήρης ἡμερῶν Job 42:17 et mortuus est senex, et plenus dierum.(vulgate) Job 42:17 Und Hiob starb alt und lebenssatt.(dhs) Job 42:17 So Job died, old and full of days.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 1:1 ============ top of the page
