Today's Date: ======= Mark 6:1 ============ Mar 6:1 Jesus went out from there and came into His hometown; and His disciples followed Him.(nasb) Mar 6:1 καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν, καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς τὴν πατρίδα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀκολουθοῦσιν αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:1 Et egressus inde, abiit in patriam suam: et sequebantur eum discipuli sui:(vulgate) Mar 6:1 Und er ging aus von da und kam in seine Vaterstadt; und seine Jünger folgten ihm nach.(dhs) Mar 6:1 Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:2 ============ Mar 6:2 When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands?(nasb) Mar 6:2 καὶ γενομένου σαββάτου ἤρξατο διδάσκειν ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ· καὶ πολλοὶ ἀκούοντες ἐξεπλήσσοντο λέγοντες, πόθεν τούτῳ ταῦτα, καὶ τίς ἡ σοφία ἡ δοθεῖσα τούτῳ καὶ αἱ δυνάμεις τοιαῦται διὰ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ γινόμεναι;(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:2 et facto sabbato cœpit in synagoga docere: et multi audientes admirabantur in doctrina ejus, dicentes: Unde huic hæc omnia? et quæ est sapientia, quæ data est illi, et virtutes tales, quæ per manus ejus efficiuntur?(vulgate) Mar 6:2 Und da der Sabbat kam, hob er an zu lehren in ihrer Schule. Und viele, die es hörten, verwunderten sich seiner Lehre und sprachen: Woher kommt dem solches? Und was für Weisheit ist's, die ihm gegeben ist, und solche Taten, die durch seine Hände geschehen?(dhs) Mar 6:2 And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, "Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands!(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:3 ============ Mar 6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?" And they took offense at Him.(nasb) Mar 6:3 οὐχ οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ τέκτων, ὁ υἱὸς τῆς μαρίας καὶ ἀδελφὸς ἰακώβου καὶ ἰωσῆτος καὶ ἰούδα καὶ σίμωνος; καὶ οὐκ εἰσὶν αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ ὧδε πρὸς ἡμᾶς; καὶ ἐσκανδαλίζοντο ἐν αὐτῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:3 Nonne hic est faber, filius Mariæ, frater Jacobi, et Joseph, et Judæ, et Simonis? nonne et sorores ejus hic nobiscum sunt? And He was going around the villages teaching.(nasb) Mar 6:6 καὶ ἐθαύμαζεν διὰ τὴν ἀπιστίαν αὐτῶν. καὶ περιῆγεν τὰς κώμας κύκλῳ διδάσκων.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:6 et mirabatur propter incredulitatem eorum, et circuibat castella in circuitu docens.~(vulgate) Mar 6:6 Und er verwunderte sich ihres Unglaubens. Und er ging umher in die Flecken im Kreis und lehrte sie.(dhs) Mar 6:6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:7 ============ Mar 6:7 And He summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits;(nasb) Mar 6:7 καὶ προσκαλεῖται τοὺς δώδεκα, καὶ ἤρξατο αὐτοὺς ἀποστέλλειν δύο δύο, καὶ ἐδίδου αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν τῶν πνευμάτων τῶν ἀκαθάρτων·(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:7 Et vocavit duodecim: et cœpit eos mittere binos, et dabat illis potestatem spirituum immundorum.(vulgate) Mar 6:7 Und er berief die Zwölf und hob an und sandte sie je zwei und zwei und gab ihnen Macht über die unsauberen Geister,(dhs) Mar 6:7 And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:8 ============ Mar 6:8 and He instructed them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a mere staff--no bread, no bag, no money in their belt--(nasb) Mar 6:8 καὶ παρήγγειλεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα μηδὲν αἴρωσιν εἰς ὁδὸν εἰ μὴ ῥάβδον μόνον, μὴ ἄρτον, μὴ πήραν, μὴ εἰς τὴν ζώνην χαλκόν,(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:8 Et præcepit eis ne quid tollerent in via, nisi virgam tantum: non peram, non panem, neque in zona æs,(vulgate) Mar 6:8 und gebot ihnen, daß sie nichts bei sich trügen auf dem Wege denn allein einen Stab, keine Tasche, kein Brot, kein Geld im Gürtel,(dhs) Mar 6:8 He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff--no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts--(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:9 ============ Mar 6:9 but to wear sandals; and He added, "Do not put on two tunics."(nasb) Mar 6:9 ἀλλὰ ὑποδεδεμένους σανδάλια καὶ μὴ ἐνδύσησθε δύο χιτῶνας.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:9 sed calceatos sandaliis, et ne induerentur duabus tunicis.(vulgate) Mar 6:9 aber wären geschuht, und daß sie nicht zwei Röcke anzögen.(dhs) Mar 6:9 but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:10 ============ Mar 6:10 And He said to them, "Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave town.(nasb) Mar 6:10 καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς, ὅπου ἐὰν εἰσέλθητε εἰς οἰκίαν, ἐκεῖ μένετε ἕως ἂν ἐξέλθητε ἐκεῖθεν.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:10 Et dicebat eis: Quocumque introieritis in domum, illic manete donec exeatis inde:(vulgate) Mar 6:10 Und sprach zu ihnen: Wo ihr in ein Haus gehen werdet, da bleibet bis ihr von dannen zieht.(dhs) Mar 6:10 Also He said to them, "In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:11 ============ Mar 6:11 Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them."(nasb) Mar 6:11 καὶ ὃς ἂν τόπος μὴ δέξηται ὑμᾶς μηδὲ ἀκούσωσιν ὑμῶν, ἐκπορευόμενοι ἐκεῖθεν ἐκτινάξατε τὸν χοῦν τὸν ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:11 et quicumque non receperint vos, nec audierint vos, exeuntes inde, excutite pulverem de pedibus vestris in testimonium illis.(vulgate) Mar 6:11 Und welche euch nicht aufnehmen noch hören, da gehet von dannen heraus und schüttelt den Staub ab von euren Füßen zu einem Zeugnis über sie. Ich sage euch wahrlich: Es wird Sodom und Gomorrha am Jüngsten Gericht erträglicher gehen denn solcher Stadt.(dhs) Mar 6:11 And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!"(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:12 ============ Mar 6:12 They went out and preached that men should repent.(nasb) Mar 6:12 καὶ ἐξελθόντες ἐκήρυξαν ἵνα μετανοῶσιν,(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:12 Et exeuntes prædicabant ut pœnitentiam agerent:(vulgate) Mar 6:12 Und sie gingen aus und predigten, man sollte Buße tun,(dhs) Mar 6:12 So they went out and preached that people should repent.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:13 ============ Mar 6:13 And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them.(nasb) Mar 6:13 καὶ δαιμόνια πολλὰ ἐξέβαλλον, καὶ ἤλειφον ἐλαίῳ πολλοὺς ἀρρώστους καὶ ἐθεράπευον.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:13 et dæmonia multa ejiciebant, et ungebant oleo multos ægros, et sanabant.~(vulgate) Mar 6:13 und trieben viele Teufel aus und salbten viele Sieche mit Öl und machten sie gesund.(dhs) Mar 6:13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:14 ============ Mar 6:14 And King Herod heard of it, for His name had become well known; and people were saying, "John the Baptist has risen from the dead, and that is why these miraculous powers are at work in Him."(nasb) Mar 6:14 καὶ ἤκουσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἡρῴδης, φανερὸν γὰρ ἐγένετο τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔλεγον ὅτι ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτίζων ἐγήγερται ἐκ νεκρῶν, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο ἐνεργοῦσιν αἱ δυνάμεις ἐν αὐτῶ.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:14 Et audivit rex Herodes (manifestum enim factum est nomen ejus), et dicebat: Quia Joannes Baptista resurrexit a mortuis: et propterea virtutes operantur in illo.(vulgate) Mar 6:14 Und es kam vor den König Herodes (denn sein Name war nun bekannt) und er sprach: Johannes der Täufer ist von den Toten auferstanden, darum tut er solche Taten.(dhs) Mar 6:14 Now King Herod heard of Him, for His name had become well known. And he said, "John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him."(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:15 ============ Mar 6:15 But others were saying, "He is Elijah." And others said, "It is the Prophet, or like one of the prophets."(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:16 ============ Mar 6:16 But when Herod heard of it, he kept saying, "John, whom I beheaded, has risen!"(nasb) Mar 6:16 ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἡρῴδης ἔλεγεν, ὃν ἐγὼ ἀπεκεφάλισα ἰωάννην, οὖτος ἠγέρθη.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:16 Quo audito Herodes ait: Quem ego decollavi Joannem, hic a mortuis resurrexit.(vulgate) Mar 6:16 Da es aber Herodes hörte, sprach er: Es ist Johannes, den ich enthauptet habe; der ist von den Toten auferstanden.(dhs) Mar 6:16 But when Herod heard, he said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!"(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:17 ============ Mar 6:17 For Herod himself had sent and had John arrested and bound in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, because he had married her.(nasb) Mar 6:17 αὐτὸς γὰρ ὁ ἡρῴδης ἀποστείλας ἐκράτησεν τὸν ἰωάννην καὶ ἔδησεν αὐτὸν ἐν φυλακῇ διὰ ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ, ὅτι αὐτὴν ἐγάμησεν·(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:17 Ipse enim Herodes misit, ac tenuit Joannem, et vinxit eum in carcere propter Herodiadem uxorem Philippi fratris sui, quia duxerat eam.(vulgate) Mar 6:17 Er aber, Herodes, hatte ausgesandt und Johannes gegriffen und ins Gefängnis gelegt um der Herodias willen, seines Bruders Philippus Weib; denn er hatte sie gefreit.(dhs) Mar 6:17 For Herod himself had sent and laid hold of John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:18 ============ Mar 6:18 For John had been saying to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."(nasb) Mar 6:18 ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὁ ἰωάννης τῶ ἡρῴδῃ ὅτι οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν τὴν γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:18 Dicebat enim Joannes Herodi: Non licet tibi habere uxorem fratris tui.(vulgate) Mar 6:18 Johannes aber sprach zu Herodes: Es ist nicht recht, daß du deines Bruders Weib habest.(dhs) Mar 6:18 For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:19 ============ Mar 6:19 Herodias had a grudge against him and wanted to put him to death and could not do so;(nasb) Mar 6:19 ἡ δὲ ἡρῳδιὰς ἐνεῖχεν αὐτῶ καὶ ἤθελεν αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι, καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο·(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:19 Herodias autem insidiabatur illi: et volebat occidere eum, nec poterat.(vulgate) Mar 6:19 Herodias aber stellte ihm nach und wollte ihn töten, und konnte nicht.(dhs) Mar 6:19 Therefore Herodias held it against him and wanted to kill him, but she could not;(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:20 ============ Mar 6:20 for Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed; but he used to enjoy listening to him.(nasb) Mar 6:20 ὁ γὰρ ἡρῴδης ἐφοβεῖτο τὸν ἰωάννην, εἰδὼς αὐτὸν ἄνδρα δίκαιον καὶ ἅγιον, καὶ συνετήρει αὐτόν, καὶ ἀκούσας αὐτοῦ πολλὰ ἠπόρει, καὶ ἡδέως αὐτοῦ ἤκουεν.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:20 Herodes enim metuebat Joannem, sciens eum virum justum et sanctum: et custodiebat eum, et audito eo multa faciebat, et libenter eum audiebat.(vulgate) Mar 6:20 Herodes aber fürchtete Johannes; denn er wußte, daß er ein frommer und heiliger Mann war; und verwahrte ihn und gehorchte ihm in vielen Sachen und hörte ihn gern.(dhs) Mar 6:20 for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and he protected him. And when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:21 ============ Mar 6:21 A strategic day came when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his lords and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee;(nasb) Mar 6:21 καὶ γενομένης ἡμέρας εὐκαίρου ὅτε ἡρῴδης τοῖς γενεσίοις αὐτοῦ δεῖπνον ἐποίησεν τοῖς μεγιστᾶσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῖς χιλιάρχοις καὶ τοῖς πρώτοις τῆς γαλιλαίας,(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:21 Et cum dies opportunus accidisset, Herodes natalis sui cœnam fecit principibus, et tribunis, et primis Galilææ:(vulgate) Mar 6:21 Und es kam ein gelegener Tag, daß Herodes auf seinen Jahrestag ein Abendmahl gab den Obersten und Hauptleuten und Vornehmsten in Galiläa.(dhs) Mar 6:21 Then an opportune day came when Herod on his birthday gave a feast for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of Galilee.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:22 ============ Mar 6:22 and when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests; and the king said to the girl, "Ask me for whatever you want and I will give it to you."(nasb) Mar 6:22 καὶ εἰσελθούσης τῆς θυγατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἡρῳδιάδος καὶ ὀρχησαμένης, ἤρεσεν τῶ ἡρῴδῃ καὶ τοῖς συνανακειμένοις. εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τῶ κορασίῳ, αἴτησόν με ὃ ἐὰν θέλῃς, καὶ δώσω σοι·(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:22 cumque introisset filia ipsius Herodiadis, et saltasset, et placuisset Herodi, simulque recumbentibus, rex ait puellæ: Pete a me quod vis, et dabo tibi:(vulgate) Mar 6:22 Da trat hinein die Tochter der Herodias und tanzte, und gefiel wohl dem Herodes und denen die am Tisch saßen. Da sprach der König zu dem Mägdlein: Bitte von mir, was du willst, ich will dir's geben.(dhs) Mar 6:22 And when Herodias' daughter herself came in and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the girl, "Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you."(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:23 ============ Mar 6:23 And he swore to her, "Whatever you ask of me, I will give it to you; up to half of my kingdom."(nasb) Mar 6:23 καὶ ὤμοσεν αὐτῇ [πολλά], ὅ τι ἐάν με αἰτήσῃς δώσω σοι ἕως ἡμίσους τῆς βασιλείας μου.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:23 et juravit illi: Quia quidquid petieris dabo tibi, licet dimidium regni mei.(vulgate) Mar 6:23 Und er schwur ihr einen Eid: Was du wirst von mir bitten, will ich dir geben, bis an die Hälfte meines Königreiches.(dhs) Mar 6:23 He also swore to her, "Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom."(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:24 ============ Mar 6:24 And she went out and said to her mother, "What shall I ask for?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist."(nasb) Mar 6:24 καὶ ἐξελθοῦσα εἶπεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς, τί αἰτήσωμαι; ἡ δὲ εἶπεν, τὴν κεφαλὴν ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτίζοντος.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:24 Quæ cum exisset, dixit matri suæ: Quid petam? At illa dixit: Caput Joannis Baptistæ.(vulgate) Mar 6:24 Sie ging hinaus und sprach zu ihrer Mutter: Was soll ich bitten? Die sprach: Das Haupt Johannes des Täufers.(dhs) Mar 6:24 So she went out and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist!"(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:25 ============ Mar 6:25 Immediately she came in a hurry to the king and asked, saying, "I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter."(nasb) Mar 6:25 καὶ εἰσελθοῦσα εὐθὺς μετὰ σπουδῆς πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα ᾐτήσατο λέγουσα, θέλω ἵνα ἐξαυτῆς δῶς μοι ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ.(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:25 Cumque introisset statim cum festinatione ad regem, petivit dicens: Volo ut protinus des mihi in disco caput Joannis Baptistæ.(vulgate) Mar 6:25 Und sie ging alsbald hinein mit Eile zum König, bat und sprach: Ich will, daß du mir gebest jetzt zur Stunde auf einer Schüssel das Haupt Johannes des Täufers.(dhs) Mar 6:25 Immediately she came in with haste to the king and asked, saying, "I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter."(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:26 ============ Mar 6:26 And although the king was very sorry, yet because of his oaths and because of his dinner guests, he was unwilling to refuse her.(nasb) Mar 6:26 καὶ περίλυπος γενόμενος ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς ἀνακειμένους οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ἀθετῆσαι αὐτήν·(Nestle-Aland) Mar 6:26 Et contristatus est rex: propter jusjurandum, et propter simul discumbentes, noluit eam contristare:(vulgate) Mar 6:26 Der König war betrübt; doch um des Eides willen und derer, die am Tisch saßen, wollte er sie nicht lassen eine Fehlbitte tun.(dhs) Mar 6:26 And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he did not want to refuse her.(nkjv) ======= Mark 6:27 ============ Mar 6:27 Immediately the king sent an executioner and commanded him to bring back his head.
