Today's Date: ======= 1 Kings 3:1 ============ 1Ki 3:1 Then Solomon formed a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter and brought her to the city of David until he had finished building his own house and the house of the Lord and the wall around Jerusalem.(nas) 1Ki 3:1 καὶ ἦν ἄρχων ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν ἀπὸ τοῦ ποταμοῦ καὶ ἕως γῆς ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἕως ὁρίων Αἰγύπτου (lxx) 1Ki 3:1 Confirmatum est igitur regnum in manu Salomonis, et affinitate conjunctus est Pharaoni regi Ægypti: accepit namque filiam ejus, et adduxit in civitatem David, donec compleret ædificans domum suam, et domum Domini, et murum Jerusalem per circuitum.(vulgate) 1 ׃3 וַיִּתְחַתֵּ֣ן שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אֶת־פַּרְעֹ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ מִצְרָ֑יִם וַיִּקַּ֣ח אֶת־בַּת־פַּרְעֹ֗ה וַיְבִיאֶ֙הָ֙ אֶל־עִ֣יר דָּוִ֔ד עַ֣ד כַּלֹּת֗וֹ לִבְנ֤וֹת אֶת־בֵּיתוֹ֙ וְאֶת־בֵּ֣ית יְהוָ֔ה וְאֶת־חוֹמַ֥ת יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם סָבִֽיב׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:1 Und Salomo verschwägerte sich mit Pharao, dem König in Ägypten und nahm Pharaos Tochter und brachte sie in die Stadt Davids, bis er ausbaute sein Haus und des HERRN Haus und die Mauer um Jerusalem her.(dhs) 1Ki 3:1 Now Solomon made a treaty with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and married Pharaoh's daughter; then he brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall all around Jerusalem.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:2 ============ 1Ki 3:2 The people were still sacrificing on the high places, because there was no house built for the name of the Lord until those days.(nas) 1Ki 3:2 πλὴν ὁ λαὸς ἦσαν θυμιῶντες ἐπὶ τοῖς ὑψηλοῖς ὅτι οὐκ ᾠκοδομήθη οἶκος τῷ ὀνόματι κυρίου ἕως νῦν (lxx) 1Ki 3:2 Attamen populus immolabat in excelsis: non enim ædificatum erat templum nomini Domini usque in diem illum.(vulgate) 2 ׃3 רַ֣ק הָעָ֔ם מְזַבְּחִ֖ים בַּבָּמ֑וֹת כִּ֠י לֹא־נִבְנָ֥ה בַ֙יִת֙ לְשֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיָּמִ֥ים הָהֵֽם׃ פ Kings1 1Ki 3:2 Aber das Volk opferte noch auf den Höhen; denn es war noch kein Haus gebaut dem Namen des HERRN bis auf die Zeit.(dhs) 1Ki 3:2 Meanwhile the people sacrificed at the high places, because there was no house built for the name of the Lord until those days.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:3 ============ 1Ki 3:3 Now Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David, except he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.(nas) 1Ki 3:3 καὶ ἠγάπησεν Σαλωμων τὸν κύριον πορεύεσθαι ἐν τοῖς προστάγμασιν Δαυιδ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ πλὴν ἐν τοῖς ὑψηλοῖς ἔθυεν καὶ ἐθυμία (lxx) 1Ki 3:3 Dilexit autem Salomon Dominum, ambulans in præceptis David patris sui, excepto quod in excelsis immolabat, et accendebat thymiama.(vulgate) 3 ׃3 וַיֶּאֱהַ֤ב שְׁלֹמֹה֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֔ה לָלֶ֕כֶת בְּחֻקּ֖וֹת דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו רַ֚ק בַּבָּמ֔וֹת ה֥וּא מְזַבֵּ֖חַ וּמַקְטִֽיר׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:3 Salomo aber hatte den HERRN lieb und wandelte nach den Sitten seines Vaters David, nur daß er auf den Höhen opferte und räucherte.(dhs) 1Ki 3:3 And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of his father David, except that he sacrificed and burned incense at the high places.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:4 ============ 1Ki 3:4 The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place; Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.(nas) 1Ki 3:4 καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς Γαβαων θῦσαι ἐκεῖ ὅτι αὐτὴ ὑψηλοτάτη καὶ μεγάλη χιλίαν ὁλοκαύτωσιν ἀνήνεγκεν Σαλωμων ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον ἐν Γαβαων (lxx) 1Ki 3:4 Abiit itaque in Gabaon, ut immolaret ibi: illud quippe erat excelsum maximum: mille hostias in holocaustum obtulit Salomon super altare illud in Gabaon.(vulgate) 4 ׃3 וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ גִּבְעֹ֙נָה֙ לִזְבֹּ֣חַ שָׁ֔ם כִּ֥י הִ֖יא הַבָּמָ֣ה הַגְּדוֹלָ֑ה אֶ֤לֶף עֹלוֹת֙ יַעֲלֶ֣ה שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַ֖ל הַמִּזְבֵּ֥חַ הַהֽוּא׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:4 Und der König ging hin gen Gibeon daselbst zu opfern; denn das war die vornehmste Höhe. Und Salomo opferte tausend Brandopfer auf demselben Altar.(dhs) 1Ki 3:4 Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:5 ============ 1Ki 3:5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, "Ask what you wish Me to give you."(nas) 1Ki 3:5 καὶ ὤφθη κύριος τῷ Σαλωμων ἐν ὕπνῳ τὴν νύκτα καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Σαλωμων αἴτησαί τι αἴτημα σαυτῷ (lxx) 1Ki 3:5 Apparuit autem Dominus Salomoni per somnium nocte, dicens: Postula quod vis ut dem tibi.(vulgate) 5 ׃3 בְּגִּבְע֗וֹן נִרְאָ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶל־שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה בַּחֲל֣וֹם הַלָּ֑יְלָה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים שְׁאַ֖ל מָ֥ה אֶתֶּן־לָֽךְ׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:5 Und der HERR erschien Salomo zu Gibeon im Traum des Nachts, und Gott sprach: Bitte, was ich dir geben soll!(dhs) 1Ki 3:5 At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, "Ask! What shall I give you?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:6 ============ 1Ki 3:6 Then Solomon said, "You have shown great lovingkindness to Your servant David my father, according as he walked before You in truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart toward You; and You have reserved for him this great lovingkindness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.(nas) 1Ki 3:6 καὶ εἶπεν Σαλωμων σὺ ἐποίησας μετὰ τοῦ δούλου σου Δαυιδ τοῦ πατρός μου ἔλεος μέγα καθὼς διῆλθεν ἐνώπιόν σου ἐν ἀληθείᾳ καὶ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἐν εὐθύτητι καρδίας μετὰ σοῦ καὶ ἐφύλαξας αὐτῷ τὸ ἔλεος τὸ μέγα τοῦτο δοῦναι τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου αὐτοῦ ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη (lxx) 1Ki 3:6 Et ait Salomon: Tu fecisti cum servo tuo David patre meo misericordiam magnam, sicut ambulavit in conspectu tuo in veritate et justitia, et recto corde tecum: custodisti ei misericordiam tuam grandem, et dedisti ei filium sedentem super thronum ejus, sicut est hodie.(vulgate) 6 ׃3 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה אַתָּ֨ה עָשִׂ֜יתָ עִם־עַבְדְּךָ֨ דָוִ֣ד אָבִי֮ חֶ֣סֶד גָּדוֹל֒ כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ הָלַ֨ךְ לְפָנֶ֜יךָ בֶּאֱמֶ֧ת וּבִצְדָקָ֛ה וּבְיִשְׁרַ֥ת לֵבָ֖ב עִמָּ֑ךְ וַתִּשְׁמָר־ל֗וֹ אֶת־הַחֶ֤סֶד הַגָּדוֹל֙ הַזֶּ֔ה וַתִּתֶּן־ל֥וֹ בֵ֛ן יֹשֵׁ֥ב עַל־כִּסְא֖וֹ כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:6 Salomo sprach: Du hast an meinem Vater David, deinem Knecht, große Barmherzigkeit getan, wie er denn vor dir gewandelt ist in Wahrheit und Gerechtigkeit und mit richtigem Herzen vor dir, und hast ihm diese große Barmherzigkeit gehalten und ihm einen Sohn gegeben, der auf seinem Stuhl säße, wie es denn jetzt geht.(dhs) 1Ki 3:6 And Solomon said: "You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:7 ============ 1Ki 3:7 Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king in place of my father David, yet I am but a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.(nas) 1Ki 3:7 καὶ νῦν κύριε ὁ θεός μου σὺ ἔδωκας τὸν δοῦλόν σου ἀντὶ Δαυιδ τοῦ πατρός μου καὶ ἐγώ εἰμι παιδάριον μικρὸν καὶ οὐκ οἶδα τὴν ἔξοδόν μου καὶ τὴν εἴσοδόν μου (lxx) 1Ki 3:7 Et nunc Domine Deus, tu regnare fecisti servum tuum pro David patre meo: ego autem sum puer parvulus, et ignorans egressum et introitum meum.(vulgate) 7 ׃3 וְעַתָּה֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֔י אַתָּה֙ הִמְלַ֣כְתָּ אֶֽת־עַבְדְּךָ֔ תַּ֖חַת דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑י וְאָֽנֹכִי֙ נַ֣עַר קָטֹ֔ן לֹ֥א אֵדַ֖ע צֵ֥את וָבֹֽא׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:7 Nun, HERR, mein Gott, du hast deinen Knecht zum König gemacht an meines Vaters David Statt. So bin ich ein junger Knabe, weiß weder meinen Ausgang noch Eingang.(dhs) 1Ki 3:7 Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:8 ============ 1Ki 3:8 Your servant is in the midst of Your people which You have chosen, a great people who are too many to be numbered or counted.(nas) 1Ki 3:8 ὁ δὲ δοῦλός σου ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ λαοῦ σου ὃν ἐξελέξω λαὸν πολύν ὃς οὐκ ἀριθμηθήσεται (lxx) 1Ki 3:8 Et servus tuus in medio est populi quem elegisti, populi infiniti, qui numerari et supputari non potest præ multitudine.(vulgate) 8 ׃3 וְעַ֨בְדְּךָ֔ בְּת֥וֹךְ עַמְּךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחָ֑רְתָּ עַם־רָ֕ב אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא־יִמָּנֶ֛ה וְלֹ֥א יִסָּפֵ֖ר מֵרֹֽב׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:8 Und dein Knecht ist unter dem Volk, das du erwählt hast, einem Volke, so groß das es niemand zählen noch beschreiben kann vor der Menge.(dhs) 1Ki 3:8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:9 ============ 1Ki 3:9 So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"(nas) 1Ki 3:9 καὶ δώσεις τῷ δούλῳ σου καρδίαν ἀκούειν καὶ διακρίνειν τὸν λαόν σου ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ τοῦ συνίειν ἀνὰ μέσον ἀγαθοῦ καὶ κακοῦ ὅτι τίς δυνήσεται κρίνειν τὸν λαόν σου τὸν βαρὺν τοῦτον (lxx) 1Ki 3:9 Dabis ergo servo tuo cor docile, ut populum tuum judicare possit, et discernere inter bonum et malum. Quis enim poterit judicare populum istum, populum tuum hunc multum?~(vulgate) 9 ׃3 וְנָתַתָּ֨ לְעַבְדְּךָ֜ לֵ֤ב שֹׁמֵ֙עַ֙ לִשְׁפֹּ֣ט אֶֽת־עַמְּךָ֔ לְהָבִ֖ין בֵּֽין־ט֣וֹב לְרָ֑ע כִּ֣י מִ֤י יוּכַל֙ לִשְׁפֹּ֔ט אֶת־עַמְּךָ֥ הַכָּבֵ֖ד הַזֶּֽה׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:9 So wollest du deinem Knecht geben ein gehorsames Herz, daß er dein Volk richten möge und verstehen, was gut und böse ist. Denn wer vermag dies dein mächtiges Volk zu richten?(dhs) 1Ki 3:9 Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:10 ============ 1Ki 3:10 It was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing.(nas) 1Ki 3:10 καὶ ἤρεσεν ἐνώπιον κυρίου ὅτι ᾐτήσατο Σαλωμων τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο (lxx) 1Ki 3:10 Placuit ergo sermo coram Domino, quod Salomon postulasset hujuscemodi rem.(vulgate) 10 ׃3 וַיִּיטַ֥ב הַדָּבָ֖ר בְּעֵינֵ֣י אֲדֹנָ֑י כִּ֚י שָׁאַ֣ל שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה אֶת־הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּֽה׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:10 Das gefiel dem HERRN wohl, daß Salomo um ein solches bat.(dhs) 1Ki 3:10 The speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:11 ============ 1Ki 3:11 God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to understand justice,(nas) 1Ki 3:11 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς αὐτόν ἀνθ᾽ ὧν ᾐτήσω παρ᾽ ἐμοῦ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ᾐτήσω σαυτῷ ἡμέρας πολλὰς καὶ οὐκ ᾐτήσω πλοῦτον οὐδὲ ᾐτήσω ψυχὰς ἐχθρῶν σου ἀλλ᾽ ᾐτήσω σαυτῷ σύνεσιν τοῦ εἰσακούειν κρίμα (lxx) 1Ki 3:11 Et dixit Dominus Salomoni: Quia postulasti verbum hoc, et non petisti tibi dies multos, nec divitias, aut animas inimicorum tuorum, sed postulasti tibi sapientiam ad discernendum judicium:(vulgate) 11 ׃3 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֜ים אֵלָ֗יו יַעַן֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר שָׁאַ֜לְתָּ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֗ה וְלֹֽא־שָׁאַ֨לְתָּ לְּךָ֜ יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֗ים וְלֹֽא־שָׁאַ֤לְתָּ לְּךָ֙ עֹ֔שֶׁר וְלֹ֥א שָׁאַ֖לְתָּ נֶ֣פֶשׁ אֹיְבֶ֑יךָ וְשָׁאַ֧לְתָּ לְּךָ֛ הָבִ֖ין לִשְׁמֹ֥עַ מִשְׁפָּֽט׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:11 Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Weil du solches bittest und bittest nicht um langes Leben noch um Reichtum noch um deiner Feinde Seele, sondern um Verstand, Gericht zu hören,(dhs) 1Ki 3:11 Then God said to him: "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:12 ============ 1Ki 3:12 behold, I have done according to your words. Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you.(nas) 1Ki 3:12 ἰδοὺ πεποίηκα κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου ἰδοὺ δέδωκά σοι καρδίαν φρονίμην καὶ σοφήν ὡς σὺ οὐ γέγονεν ἔμπροσθέν σου καὶ μετὰ σὲ οὐκ ἀναστήσεται ὅμοιός σοι (lxx) 1Ki 3:12 ecce feci tibi secundum sermones tuos, et dedi tibi cor sapiens et intelligens, in tantum ut nullus ante te similis tui fuerit, nec post te surrecturus sit.(vulgate) 12 ׃3 הִנֵּ֥ה עָשִׂ֖יתִי כִּדְבָרֶ֑יךָ הִנֵּ֣ה ׀ נָתַ֣תִּי לְךָ֗ לֵ֚ב חָכָ֣ם וְנָב֔וֹן אֲשֶׁ֤ר כָּמ֙וֹךָ֙ לֹא־הָיָ֣ה לְפָנֶ֔יךָ וְאַחֲרֶ֖יךָ לֹא־יָק֥וּם כָּמֽוֹךָ׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:12 siehe, so habe ich getan nach deinen Worten. Siehe, ich habe dir ein weises und verständiges Herz gegeben, daß deinesgleichen vor dir nicht gewesen ist und nach dir nicht aufkommen wird.(dhs) 1Ki 3:12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:13 ============ 1Ki 3:13 I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days.(nas) 1Ki 3:13 καὶ ἃ οὐκ ᾐτήσω δέδωκά σοι καὶ πλοῦτον καὶ δόξαν ὡς οὐ γέγονεν ἀνὴρ ὅμοιός σοι ἐν βασιλεῦσιν (lxx) 1Ki 3:13 Sed et hæc quæ non postulasti, dedi tibi: divitias scilicet, et gloriam, ut nemo fuerit similis tui in regibus cunctis retro diebus.(vulgate) 13 ׃3 וְגַ֨ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־שָׁאַ֙לְתָּ֙ נָתַ֣תִּי לָ֔ךְ גַּם־עֹ֖שֶׁר גַּם־כָּב֑וֹד אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹא־הָיָ֨ה כָמ֥וֹךָ אִ֛ישׁ בַּמְּלָכִ֖ים כָּל־יָמֶֽיךָ׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:13 Dazu, was du nicht gebeten hast, habe ich dir auch gegeben, sowohl Reichtum als Ehre, daß deinesgleichen keiner unter den Königen ist zu deinen Zeiten.(dhs) 1Ki 3:13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days.(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:14 ============ 1Ki 3:14 If you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and commandments, as your father David walked, then I will prolong your days."(nas) 1Ki 3:14 καὶ ἐὰν πορευθῇς ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ μου φυλάσσειν τὰς ἐντολάς μου καὶ τὰ προστάγματά μου ὡς ἐπορεύθη Δαυιδ ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ πληθυνῶ τὰς ἡμέρας σου (lxx) 1Ki 3:14 Si autem ambulaveris in viis meis, et custodieris præcepta mea et mandata mea, sicut ambulavit pater tuus, longos faciam dies tuos.(vulgate) 14 ׃3 וְאִ֣ם ׀ תֵּלֵ֣ךְ בִּדְרָכַ֗י לִשְׁמֹ֤ר חֻקַּי֙ וּמִצְוֺתַ֔י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלַ֖ךְ דָּוִ֣יד אָבִ֑יךָ וְהַאַרַכְתִּ֖י אֶת־יָמֶֽיךָ׃ ס Kings1 1Ki 3:14 Und so du wirst in meinen Wegen wandeln, daß du hältst meine Sitten und Gebote, wie dein Vater David gewandelt hat, so will ich dir geben ein langes Leben.(dhs) 1Ki 3:14 So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days."(nkjv) ======= 1 Kings 3:15 ============ 1Ki 3:15 Then Solomon awoke, and behold, it was a dream. So they brought a sword before the king.(nas) 1Ki 3:24 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς λάβετέ μοι μάχαιραν καὶ προσήνεγκαν τὴν μάχαιραν ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως (lxx) 1Ki 3:24 Dixit ergo rex: Afferte mihi gladium. Cumque attulissent gladium coram rege,(vulgate) 24 ׃3 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ קְח֣וּ לִי־חָ֑רֶב וַיָּבִ֥אוּ הַחֶ֖רֶב לִפְנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ Kings1 1Ki 3:24 Und der König sprach: Holet mir ein Schwert her! und da das Schwert vor den König gebracht ward,(dhs) 1Ki 3:24 Then the king said, "Bring me a sword."
