Höre, mein Volk, mein Gesetz; neigt eure Ohren zu der Rede meines Mundes!(dhs) Psa 78:1 A Contemplation of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:2 ============ Psa 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,(nas) Psa 78:2 ἀνοίξω ἐν παραβολαῖς τὸ στόμα μου φθέγξομαι προβλήματα ἀπ᾽ ἀρχῆς (lxx) Psa 78:2 [Vulgate 77:2] aperiam in parabula os meum loquar enigmata antiqua(vulgate) 2 ׃78 אֶפְתְּחָ֣ה בְמָשָׁ֣ל פִּ֑י אַבִּ֥יעָה חִ֝יד֗וֹת מִנִּי־קֶֽדֶם׃ Psalms Psa 78:2 Ich will meinen Mund auftun zu Sprüchen und alte Geschichten aussprechen,(dhs) Psa 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old,(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:3 ============ Psa 78:3 Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.(nas) Psa 78:3 ὅσα ἠκούσαμεν καὶ ἔγνωμεν αὐτὰ καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν διηγήσαντο ἡμῖν (lxx) Psa 78:3 [Vulgate 77:3] quae audivimus et cognovimus et patres nostri narraverunt nobis(vulgate) 3 ׃78 אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁ֭מַעְנוּ וַנֵּדָעֵ֑ם וַ֝אֲבוֹתֵ֗ינוּ סִפְּרוּ־לָֽנוּ׃ Psalms Psa 78:3 die wir gehört haben und wissen und unsre Väter uns erzählt haben,(dhs) Psa 78:3 Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:4 ============ Psa 78:4 We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.(nas) Psa 78:4 οὐκ ἐκρύβη ἀπὸ τῶν τέκνων αὐτῶν εἰς γενεὰν ἑτέραν ἀπαγγέλλοντες τὰς αἰνέσεις τοῦ κυρίου καὶ τὰς δυναστείας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ θαυμάσια αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐποίησεν (lxx) Psa 78:4 [Vulgate 77:4] non sunt abscondita a filiis eorum a generatione sequenti narrante laudes Domini et potentiam eius et mirabilia eius quae fecit(vulgate) 4 ׃78 לֹ֤א נְכַחֵ֨ד ׀ מִבְּנֵיהֶ֗ם לְד֥וֹר אַחֲר֗וֹן מְֽ֭סַפְּרִים תְּהִלּ֣וֹת יְהוָ֑ה וֶעֱזוּז֥וֹ וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָֽׂה׃ Psalms Psa 78:4 daß wir's nicht verhalten sollten ihren Kindern, die hernach kommen, und verkündigten den Ruhm des HERRN und seine Macht und seine Wunder, die er getan hat.(dhs) Psa 78:4 We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:5 ============ Psa 78:5 For He established a testimony in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children,(nas) Psa 78:5 καὶ ἀνέστησεν μαρτύριον ἐν Ιακωβ καὶ νόμον ἔθετο ἐν Ισραηλ ὅσα ἐνετείλατο τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν τοῦ γνωρίσαι αὐτὰ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτῶν (lxx) Psa 78:5 [Vulgate 77:5] statuit contestationem Iacob et legem posuit in Israhel quae mandavit patribus nostris ut docerent filios suos(vulgate) 5 ׃78 וַיָּ֤קֶם עֵד֨וּת ׀ בְּֽיַעֲקֹ֗ב וְתוֹרָה֮ שָׂ֤ם בְּיִשְׂרָ֫אֵ֥ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִ֭וָּה אֶת־אֲבוֹתֵ֑ינוּ לְ֝הוֹדִיעָ֗ם לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Psalms Psa 78:5 Er richtete ein Zeugnis auf in Jakob und gab ein Gesetz in Israel, das er unsern Vätern gebot zu lehren ihre Kinder,(dhs) Psa 78:5 For He established a testimony in Jacob, And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers, That they should make them known to their children;(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:6 ============ Psa 78:6 That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children,(nas) Psa 78:6 ὅπως ἂν γνῷ γενεὰ ἑτέρα υἱοὶ οἱ τεχθησόμενοι καὶ ἀναστήσονται καὶ ἀπαγγελοῦσιν αὐτὰ τοῖς υἱοῖς αὐτῶν (lxx) Psa 78:6 [Vulgate 77:6] ut cognosceret generatio subsequens filii nascituri surgent et narrabunt filiis suis(vulgate) 6 ׃78 לְמַ֤עַן יֵדְע֨וּ ׀ דּ֣וֹר אַ֭חֲרוֹן בָּנִ֣ים יִוָּלֵ֑דוּ יָ֝קֻ֗מוּ וִֽיסַפְּר֥וּ לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃ Psalms Psa 78:6 auf daß es die Nachkommen lernten und die Kinder, die noch sollten geboren werden; wenn sie aufkämen, daß sie es auch ihren Kinder verkündigten,(dhs) Psa 78:6 That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children,(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:7 ============ Psa 78:7 That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments,(nas) Psa 78:7 ἵνα θῶνται ἐπὶ τὸν θεὸν τὴν ἐλπίδα αὐτῶν καὶ μὴ ἐπιλάθωνται τῶν ἔργων τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ ἐκζητήσουσιν (lxx) Psa 78:7 [Vulgate 77:7] ut ponant in Deo spem suam et non obliviscantur cogitationum eius et mandata eius custodiant(vulgate) 7 ׃78 וְיָשִׂ֥ימוּ בֵֽאלֹהִ֗ים כִּ֫סְלָ֥ם וְלֹ֣א יִ֭שְׁכְּחוּ מַֽעַלְלֵי אֵ֑ל וּמִצְוֺתָ֥יו יִנְצֹֽרוּ׃ Psalms Psa 78:7 daß sie setzten auf Gott ihre Hoffnung und nicht vergäßen der Taten Gottes und seine Gebote hielten(dhs) Psa 78:7 That they may set their hope in God, And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments;(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:8 ============ Psa 78:8 And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.(nas) Psa 78:8 ἵνα μὴ γένωνται ὡς οἱ πατέρες αὐτῶν γενεὰ σκολιὰ καὶ παραπικραίνουσα γενεά ἥτις οὐ κατηύθυνεν τὴν καρδίαν αὐτῆς καὶ οὐκ ἐπιστώθη μετὰ τοῦ θεοῦ τὸ πνεῦμα αὐτῆς (lxx) Psa 78:8 [Vulgate 77:8] ut non sint sicut patres eorum generatio declinans et provocans generatio quae non praeparavit cor suum et non credidit Deo spiritus eius(vulgate) 8 ׃78 וְלֹ֤א יִהְי֨וּ ׀ כַּאֲבוֹתָ֗ם דּוֹר֮ סוֹרֵ֢ר וּמֹ֫רֶ֥ה דּ֭וֹר לֹא־הֵכִ֣ין לִבּ֑וֹ וְלֹא־נֶאֶמְנָ֖ה אֶת־אֵ֣ל רוּחֽוֹ׃ Psalms Psa 78:8 und nicht würden wie ihre Väter, eine abtrünnige und ungehorsame Art, welchen ihr Herz nicht fest war und ihr Geist nicht treulich hielt an Gott,(dhs) Psa 78:8 And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:9 ============ Psa 78:9 The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows, Yet they turned back in the day of battle.(nas) Psa 78:9 υἱοὶ Εφραιμ ἐντείνοντες καὶ βάλλοντες τόξοις ἐστράφησαν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ πολέμου (lxx) Psa 78:9 [Vulgate 77:9] filii Efraim intendentes et mittentes arcum terga verterunt in die belli(vulgate) 9 ׃78 בְּֽנֵי־אֶפְרַ֗יִם נוֹשְׁקֵ֥י רוֹמֵי־קָ֑שֶׁת הָ֝פְכ֗וּ בְּי֣וֹם קְרָֽב׃ Psalms Psa 78:9 wie die Kinder Ephraim, die geharnischt den Bogen führten, abfielen zur Zeit des Streits.(dhs) Psa 78:9 The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, Turned back in the day of battle.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:10 ============ Psa 78:10 They did not keep the covenant of God And refused to walk in His law;(nas) Psa 78:10 οὐκ ἐφύλαξαν τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐν τῷ νόμῳ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἤθελον πορεύεσθαι (lxx) Psa 78:10 [Vulgate 77:10] non custodierunt pactum Dei sui et in lege eius noluerunt ingredi(vulgate) 10 ׃78 לֹ֣א שָׁ֭מְרוּ בְּרִ֣ית אֱלֹהִ֑ים וּ֝בְתוֹרָת֗וֹ מֵאֲנ֥וּ לָלֶֽכֶת׃ Psalms Psa 78:10 Sie hielten den Bund Gottes nicht und wollten nicht in seinem Gesetz wandeln(dhs) Psa 78:10 They did not keep the covenant of God; They refused to walk in His law,(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:11 ============ Psa 78:11 They forgot His deeds And His miracles that He had shown them.(nas) Psa 78:11 καὶ ἐπελάθοντο τῶν εὐεργεσιῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ τῶν θαυμασίων αὐτοῦ ὧν ἔδειξεν αὐτοῖς (lxx) Psa 78:11 [Vulgate 77:11] et obliti sunt commutationum eius et mirabilium eius quae ostendit eis(vulgate) 11 ׃78 וַיִּשְׁכְּח֥וּ עֲלִילוֹתָ֑יו וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶרְאָֽם׃ Psalms Psa 78:11 und vergaßen seiner Taten und seiner Wunder, die er ihnen erzeigt hatte.(dhs) Psa 78:11 And forgot His works And His wonders that He had shown them.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:12 ============ Psa 78:12 He wrought wonders before their fathers In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.(nas) Psa 78:12 ἐναντίον τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν ἃ ἐποίησεν θαυμάσια ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ἐν πεδίῳ Τάνεως (lxx) Psa 78:12 [Vulgate 77:12] coram patribus eorum fecit mirabilia in terra Aegypto in regione Taneos(vulgate) 12 ׃78 נֶ֣גֶד אֲ֭בוֹתָם עָ֣שָׂה פֶ֑לֶא בְּאֶ֖רֶץ מִצְרַ֣יִם שְׂדֵה־צֹֽעַן׃ Psalms Psa 78:12 Vor ihren Vätern tat er Wunder in Ägyptenland, im Felde Zoan.(dhs) Psa 78:12 Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:13 ============ Psa 78:13 He divided the sea and caused them to pass through, And He made the waters stand up like a heap.(nas) Psa 78:13 διέρρηξεν θάλασσαν καὶ διήγαγεν αὐτούς ἔστησεν ὕδατα ὡσεὶ ἀσκὸν (lxx) Psa 78:13 [Vulgate 77:13] divisit mare et transduxit eos et stare fecit aquas quasi acervum(vulgate) 13 ׃78 בָּ֣קַע יָ֭ם וַיַּֽעֲבִירֵ֑ם וַֽיַּצֶּב־מַ֥יִם כְּמוֹ־נֵ[c]ד׃ Psalms Psa 78:13 Er zerteilte das Meer und ließ sie hindurchgehen und stellte das Wasser wie eine Mauer.(dhs) Psa 78:13 He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; And He made the waters stand up like a heap.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:14 ============ Psa 78:14 Then He led them with the cloud by day And all the night with a light of fire.(nas) Psa 78:14 καὶ ὡδήγησεν αὐτοὺς ἐν νεφέλῃ ἡμέρας καὶ ὅλην τὴν νύκτα ἐν φωτισμῷ πυρός (lxx) Psa 78:14 [Vulgate 77:14] et duxit eos in nube per diem et tota nocte in lumine ignis(vulgate) 14 ׃78 וַיַּנְחֵ֣ם בֶּעָנָ֣ן יוֹמָ֑ם וְכָל־הַ֝לַּ֗יְלָה בְּא֣וֹר אֵֽשׁ׃ Psalms Psa 78:14 Er leitete sie des Tages mit einer Wolke und des Nachts mit einem hellen Feuer.(dhs) Psa 78:14 In the daytime also He led them with the cloud, And all the night with a light of fire.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:15 ============ Psa 78:15 He split the rocks in the wilderness And gave them abundant drink like the ocean depths.(nas) Psa 78:15 διέρρηξεν πέτραν ἐν ἐρήμῳ καὶ ἐπότισεν αὐτοὺς ὡς ἐν ἀβύσσῳ πολλῇ (lxx) Psa 78:15 [Vulgate 77:15] scidit petram in deserto et potum dedit quasi de abyssis magnis(vulgate) 15 ׃78 יְבַקַּ֣ע צֻ֭רִים בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וַ֝יַּ֗שְׁקְ כִּתְהֹמ֥וֹת רַבָּֽה׃ Psalms Psa 78:15 Er riß die Felsen in der Wüste und tränkte sie mit Wasser die Fülle(dhs) Psa 78:15 He split the rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink in abundance like the depths.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:16 ============ Psa 78:16 He brought forth streams also from the rock And caused waters to run down like rivers.(nas) Psa 78:16 καὶ ἐξήγαγεν ὕδωρ ἐκ πέτρας καὶ κατήγαγεν ὡς ποταμοὺς ὕδατα (lxx) Psa 78:16 [Vulgate 77:16] et eduxit rivos de petra et elicuit quasi flumina aquas(vulgate) 16 ׃78 וַיּוֹצִ֣א נוֹזְלִ֣ים מִסָּ֑לַע וַיּ֖וֹרֶד כַּנְּהָר֣וֹת מָֽיִם׃ Psalms Psa 78:16 und ließ Bäche aus den Felsen fließen, daß sie hinabflossen wie Wasserströme.(dhs) Psa 78:16 He also brought streams out of the rock, And caused waters to run down like rivers.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:17 ============ Psa 78:17 Yet they still continued to sin against Him, To rebel against the Most High in the desert.(nas) Psa 78:17 καὶ προσέθεντο ἔτι τοῦ ἁμαρτάνειν αὐτῷ παρεπίκραναν τὸν ὕψιστον ἐν ἀνύδρῳ (lxx) Psa 78:17 [Vulgate 77:17] et addiderunt ultra peccare ei ut provocarent Excelsum in invio(vulgate) 17 ׃78 וַיּוֹסִ֣יפוּ ע֖[d]וֹד לַחֲטֹא־ל֑וֹ לַֽמְר֥וֹת עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן בַּצִּיָּֽה׃ Psalms Psa 78:17 Dennoch sündigten sie weiter gegen ihn und erzürnten den Höchsten in der Wüste(dhs) Psa 78:17 But they sinned even more against Him By rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:18 ============ Psa 78:18 And in their heart they put God to the test By asking food according to their desire.(nas) Psa 78:18 καὶ ἐξεπείρασαν τὸν θεὸν ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις αὐτῶν τοῦ αἰτῆσαι βρώματα ταῖς ψυχαῖς αὐτῶν (lxx) Psa 78:18 [Vulgate 77:18] et temptaverunt Deum in cordibus suis petentes cibum animae suae(vulgate) 18 ׃78 וַיְנַסּוּ־אֵ֥ל בִּלְבָבָ֑ם לִֽשְׁאָל־אֹ֥כֶל לְנַפְשָֽׁם׃ Psalms Psa 78:18 und versuchten Gott in ihrem Herzen, daß sie Speise forderten für ihre Seelen,(dhs) Psa 78:18 And they tested God in their heart By asking for the food of their fancy.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:19 ============ Psa 78:19 Then they spoke against God; They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?(nas) Psa 78:19 καὶ κατελάλησαν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ εἶπαν μὴ δυνήσεται ὁ θεὸς ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν ἐν ἐρήμῳ (lxx) Psa 78:19 [Vulgate 77:19] et loquentes contra Deum dicebant numquid poterit Deus ponere mensam in solitudine(vulgate) 19 ׃78 וַֽיְדַבְּר֗וּ בֵּֽאלֹ֫הִ֥ים אָ֭מְרוּ הֲי֣וּכַל אֵ֑ל לַעֲרֹ֥ךְ שֻׁ֝לְחָ֗ן בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ Psalms Psa 78:19 und redeten gegen Gott und sprachen: "Ja, Gott sollte wohl können einen Tisch bereiten in der Wüste?(dhs) Psa 78:19 Yes, they spoke against God: They said, "Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:20 ============ Psa 78:20 "Behold, He struck the rock so that waters gushed out, And streams were overflowing; Can He give bread also? Will He provide meat for His people?"(nas) Psa 78:20 ἐπεὶ ἐπάταξεν πέτραν καὶ ἐρρύησαν ὕδατα καὶ χείμαρροι κατεκλύσθησαν μὴ καὶ ἄρτον δύναται δοῦναι ἢ ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Psa 78:20 [Vulgate 77:20] ecce percussit petram et fluxerunt aquae et torrentes inundaverunt numquid et panem poterit dare aut praeparare carnem populo suo(vulgate) 20 ׃78 הֵ֤ן הִכָּה־צ֨וּר ׀ וַיָּז֣וּבוּ מַיִם֮ וּנְחָלִ֢ים יִ֫שְׁטֹ֥פוּ הֲגַם־לֶ֭חֶם י֣וּכַל תֵּ֑ת אִם־יָכִ֖ין שְׁאֵ֣ר לְעַמּֽוֹ׃ Psalms Psa 78:20 Siehe, er hat wohl den Felsen geschlagen, daß Wasser flossen und Bäche sich ergossen; aber wie kann er Brot geben und seinem Volke Fleisch verschaffen?"(dhs) Psa 78:20 Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?"(nkjv) ======= Psalm 78:21 ============ Psa 78:21 Therefore the Lord heard and was full of wrath; And a fire was kindled against Jacob And anger also mounted against Israel,(nas) Psa 78:21 διὰ τοῦτο ἤκουσεν κύριος καὶ ἀνεβάλετο καὶ πῦρ ἀνήφθη ἐν Ιακωβ καὶ ὀργὴ ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὸν Ισραηλ (lxx) Psa 78:21 [Vulgate 77:21] ideo audivit Dominus et non distulit et ignis accensus est in Iacob et furor ascendit in Israhel(vulgate) 21 ׃78 לָכֵ֤ן ׀ שָׁמַ֥ע יְהוָ֗ה וַֽיִּתְעַבָּ֥ר וְ֭אֵשׁ נִשְּׂקָ֣ה בְיַעֲקֹ֑ב וְגַם־אַ֝֗ף עָלָ֥ה בְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Psalms Psa 78:21 Da nun das der HERR hörte, entbrannte er, und Feuer ging an in Jakob, und Zorn kam über Israel,(dhs) Psa 78:21 Therefore the Lord heard this and was furious;
