Today's Date: Job 20:29 This is the portion from God for a wicked man, The heritage appointed to him by God."(nkjv) ======= Job 21:1 ============ Job 21:1 Then Job answered,(nas) Job 21:1 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ιωβ λέγει (lxx) Job 21:1 Respondens autem Job, dixit:(vulgate) 1 ׃21 וַיַּ֥עַן אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Job Job 21:1 Hiob antwortete und sprach:(dhs) Job 21:1 Then Job answered and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 21:2 ============ Job 21:2 "Listen carefully to my speech, And let this be your way of consolation.(nas) Job 21:2 ἀκούσατε ἀκούσατέ μου τῶν λόγων ἵνα μὴ ᾖ μοι παρ᾽ ὑμῶν αὕτη ἡ παράκλησις (lxx) Job 21:2 [Audite, quæso, sermones meos, et agite pœnitentiam.(vulgate) 2 ׃21 שִׁמְע֣וּ שָׁ֭מוֹעַ מִלָּתִ֑י וּתְהִי־זֹ֝֗את תַּנְח֥וּמֹֽתֵיכֶֽם׃ Job Job 21:2 Hört doch meiner Rede zu und laßt mir das anstatt eurer Tröstungen sein!(dhs) Job 21:2 "Listen carefully to my speech, And let this be your consolation.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:3 ============ Job 21:3 "Bear with me that I may speak; Then after I have spoken, you may mock.(nas) Job 21:3 ἄρατέ με ἐγὼ δὲ λαλήσω εἶτ᾽ οὐ καταγελάσετέ μου (lxx) Job 21:3 Sustinete me, et ego loquar: et post mea, si videbitur, verba, ridete.(vulgate) 3 ׃21 שָׂ֭אוּנִי וְאָנֹכִ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר וְאַחַ֖ר דַּבְּרִ֣י תַלְעִֽיג׃ Job Job 21:3 Vertragt mich, daß ich auch rede, und spottet darnach mein!(dhs) Job 21:3 Bear with me that I may speak, And after I have spoken, keep mocking.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:4 ============ Job 21:4 "As for me, is my complaint to man? And why should I not be impatient?(nas) Job 21:4 τί γάρ μὴ ἀνθρώπου μου ἡ ἔλεγξις ἢ διὰ τί οὐ θυμωθήσομαι (lxx) Job 21:4 Numquid contra hominem disputatio mea est, ut merito non debeam contristari?(vulgate) 4 ׃21 הֶ֭אָנֹכִי לְאָדָ֣ם שִׂיחִ֑י וְאִם־מַ֝דּ֗וּעַ לֹא־תִקְצַ֥ר רוּחִֽי׃ Job Job 21:4 Handle ich denn mit einem Menschen? oder warum sollte ich ungeduldig sein?(dhs) Job 21:4 "As for me, is my complaint against man? And if it were, why should I not be impatient?(nkjv) ======= Job 21:5 ============ Job 21:5 "Look at me, and be astonished, And put your hand over your mouth.(nas) Job 21:5 εἰσβλέψαντες εἰς ἐμὲ θαυμάσατε χεῖρα θέντες ἐπὶ σιαγόνι (lxx) Job 21:5 Attendite me et obstupescite, et superponite digitum ori vestro.(vulgate) 5 ׃21 פְּנוּ־אֵלַ֥י וְהָשַׁ֑מּוּ וְשִׂ֖ימוּ יָ֣ד עַל־פֶּֽה׃ Job Job 21:5 Kehrt euch her zu mir; ihr werdet erstarren und die Hand auf den Mund legen müssen.(dhs) Job 21:5 Look at me and be astonished; Put your hand over your mouth.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:6 ============ Job 21:6 "Even when I remember, I am disturbed, And horror takes hold of my flesh.(nas) Job 21:6 ἐάν τε γὰρ μνησθῶ ἐσπούδακα ἔχουσιν δέ μου τὰς σάρκας ὀδύναι (lxx) Job 21:6 Et ego, quando recordatus fuero, pertimesco, et concutit carnem meam tremor.(vulgate) 6 ׃21 וְאִם־זָכַ֥רְתִּי וְנִבְהָ֑לְתִּי וְאָחַ֥ז בְּ֝שָׂרִ֗י פַּלָּצֽוּת׃ Job Job 21:6 Wenn ich daran denke, so erschrecke ich, und Zittern kommt mein Fleisch an.(dhs) Job 21:6 Even when I remember I am terrified, And trembling takes hold of my flesh.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:7 ============ Job 21:7 "Why do the wicked still live, Continue on, also become very powerful?(nas) Job 21:7 διὰ τί ἀσεβεῖς ζῶσιν πεπαλαίωνται δὲ καὶ ἐν πλούτῳ (lxx) Job 21:7 Quare ergo impii vivunt, sublevati sunt, confortatique divitiis?(vulgate) 7 ׃21 מַדּ֣וּעַ רְשָׁעִ֣ים יִחְי֑וּ עָ֝תְק֗וּ גַּם־גָּ֥בְרוּ חָֽיִל׃ Job Job 21:7 Warum leben denn die Gottlosen, werden alt und nehmen zu an Gütern?(dhs) Job 21:7 Why do the wicked live and become old, Yes, become mighty in power?(nkjv) ======= Job 21:8 ============ Job 21:8 "Their descendants are established with them in their sight, And their offspring before their eyes,(nas) Job 21:8 ὁ σπόρος αὐτῶν κατὰ ψυχήν τὰ δὲ τέκνα αὐτῶν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς (lxx) Job 21:8 Semen eorum permanet coram eis: propinquorum turba et nepotum in conspectu eorum.(vulgate) 8 ׃21 זַרְעָ֤ם נָכ֣וֹן לִפְנֵיהֶ֣ם עִמָּ֑ם וְ֝צֶאֱצָאֵיהֶ֗ם לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃ Job Job 21:8 Ihr Same ist sicher um sie her, und ihre Nachkömmlinge sind bei ihnen.(dhs) Job 21:8 Their descendants are established with them in their sight, And their offspring before their eyes.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:9 ============ Job 21:9 Their houses are safe from fear, And the rod of God is not on them.(nas) Job 21:9 οἱ οἶκοι αὐτῶν εὐθηνοῦσιν φόβος δὲ οὐδαμοῦ μάστιξ δὲ παρὰ κυρίου οὐκ ἔστιν ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς (lxx) Job 21:9 Domus eorum securæ sunt et pacatæ, et non est virga Dei super illos.(vulgate) 9 ׃21 בָּתֵּיהֶ֣ם שָׁל֣וֹם מִפָּ֑חַד וְלֹ֤א שֵׁ֖בֶט אֱל֣וֹהַּ עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ Job Job 21:9 Ihr Haus hat Frieden vor der Furcht, und Gottes Rute ist nicht über ihnen.(dhs) Job 21:9 Their houses are safe from fear, Neither is the rod of God upon them.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:10 ============ Job 21:10 "His ox mates without fail; His cow calves and does not abort.(nas) Job 21:10 ἡ βοῦς αὐτῶν οὐκ ὠμοτόκησεν διεσώθη δὲ αὐτῶν ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχουσα καὶ οὐκ ἔσφαλεν (lxx) Job 21:10 Bos eorum concepit, et non abortivit: vacca peperit, et non est privata fœtu suo.(vulgate) 10 ׃21 שׁוֹר֣וֹ עִ֭בַּר וְלֹ֣א יַגְעִ֑ל תְּפַלֵּ֥ט פָּ֝רָת֗וֹ וְלֹ֣א תְשַׁכֵּֽל׃ Job Job 21:10 Seinen Stier läßt man zu, und es mißrät ihm nicht; seine Kuh kalbt und ist nicht unfruchtbar.(dhs) Job 21:10 Their bull breeds without failure; Their cow calves without miscarriage.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:11 ============ Job 21:11 "They send forth their little ones like the flock, And their children skip about.(nas) Job 21:11 μένουσιν δὲ ὡς πρόβατα αἰώνια τὰ δὲ παιδία αὐτῶν προσπαίζουσιν (lxx) Job 21:11 Egrediuntur quasi greges parvuli eorum, et infantes eorum exultant lusibus.(vulgate) 11 ׃21 יְשַׁלְּח֣וּ כַ֭צֹּאן עֲוִילֵיהֶ֑ם וְ֝יַלְדֵיהֶ֗ם יְרַקֵּדֽוּן׃ Job Job 21:11 Ihre jungen Kinder lassen sie ausgehen wie eine Herde, und ihre Knaben hüpfen.(dhs) Job 21:11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, And their children dance.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:12 ============ Job 21:12 "They sing to the timbrel and harp And rejoice at the sound of the flute.(nas) Job 21:12 ἀναλαβόντες ψαλτήριον καὶ κιθάραν καὶ εὐφραίνονται φωνῇ ψαλμοῦ (lxx) Job 21:12 Tenent tympanum et citharam, et gaudent ad sonitum organi.(vulgate) 12 ׃21 יִ֭שְׂאוּ כְּתֹ֣ף וְכִנּ֑וֹר וְ֝יִשְׂמְח֗וּ לְק֣וֹל עוּגָֽב׃ Job Job 21:12 Sie jauchzen mit Pauken und Harfen und sind fröhlich mit Flöten.(dhs) Job 21:12 They sing to the tambourine and harp, And rejoice to the sound of the flute.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:13 ============ Job 21:13 "They spend their days in prosperity, And suddenly they go down to Sheol.(nas) Job 21:13 συνετέλεσαν δὲ ἐν ἀγαθοῖς τὸν βίον αὐτῶν ἐν δὲ ἀναπαύσει ᾅδου ἐκοιμήθησαν (lxx) Job 21:13 Ducunt in bonis dies suos, et in puncto ad inferna descendunt.(vulgate) 13 ׃21 *יבלו **יְכַלּ֣וּ בַטּ֣וֹב יְמֵיהֶ֑ם וּ֝בְרֶ֗גַע שְׁא֣וֹל יֵחָֽתּוּ׃ Job Job 21:13 Sie werden alt bei guten Tagen und erschrecken kaum einen Augenblick vor dem Tode,(dhs) Job 21:13 They spend their days in wealth, And in a moment go down to the grave.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:14 ============ Job 21:14 "They say to God, 'Depart from us! We do not even desire the knowledge of Your ways.(nas) Job 21:14 λέγει δὲ κυρίῳ ἀπόστα ἀπ᾽ ἐμοῦ ὁδούς σου εἰδέναι οὐ βούλομαι (lxx) Job 21:14 Qui dixerunt Deo: Recede a nobis, et scientiam viarum tuarum nolumus.(vulgate) 14 ׃21 וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ לָ֭אֵל ס֣וּר מִמֶּ֑נּוּ וְדַ֥עַת דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ לֹ֣א חָפָֽצְנוּ׃ Job Job 21:14 die doch sagen zu Gott: "Hebe dich von uns, wir wollen von deinen Wegen nicht wissen!(dhs) Job 21:14 Yet they say to God, 'Depart from us, For we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:15 ============ Job 21:15 'Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, And what would we gain if we entreat Him?'(nas) Job 21:15 τί ἱκανός ὅτι δουλεύσομεν αὐτῷ καὶ τίς ὠφέλεια ὅτι ἀπαντήσομεν αὐτῷ (lxx) Job 21:15 Quis est Omnipotens, ut serviamus ei? et quid nobis prodest si oraverimus illum?(vulgate) 15 ׃21 מַה־שַׁדַּ֥י כִּֽי־נַֽעַבְדֶ֑נּוּ וּמַה־נּ֝וֹעִ֗יל כִּ֣י נִפְגַּע־בּֽוֹ׃ Job Job 21:15 Wer ist der Allmächtige, daß wir ihm dienen sollten? oder was sind wir gebessert, so wir ihn anrufen?"(dhs) Job 21:15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what profit do we have if we pray to Him?'(nkjv) ======= Job 21:16 ============ Job 21:16 "Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand; The counsel of the wicked is far from me.(nas) Job 21:16 ἐν χερσὶν γὰρ ἦν αὐτῶν τὰ ἀγαθά ἔργα δὲ ἀσεβῶν οὐκ ἐφορᾷ (lxx) Job 21:16 Verumtamen quia non sunt in manu eorum bona sua, consilium impiorum longe sit a me.(vulgate) 16 ׃21 הֵ֤ן לֹ֣א בְיָדָ֣ם טוּבָ֑ם עֲצַ֥ת רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים רָ֣חֲקָה מֶֽנִּי׃ Job Job 21:16 "Aber siehe, ihr Glück steht nicht in ihren Händen; darum soll der Gottlosen Sinn ferne von mir sein."(dhs) Job 21:16 Indeed their prosperity is not in their hand; The counsel of the wicked is far from me.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:17 ============ Job 21:17 "How often is the lamp of the wicked put out, Or does their calamity fall on them? Does God apportion destruction in His anger?(nas) Job 21:17 οὐ μὴν δὲ ἀλλὰ καὶ ἀσεβῶν λύχνος σβεσθήσεται ἐπελεύσεται δὲ αὐτοῖς ἡ καταστροφή ὠδῖνες δὲ αὐτοὺς ἕξουσιν ἀπὸ ὀργῆς (lxx) Job 21:17 Quoties lucerna impiorum extinguetur, et superveniet eis inundatio, et dolores dividet furoris sui?(vulgate) 17 ׃21 כַּמָּ֤ה ׀ נֵר־רְשָׁ֘עִ֤ים יִדְעָ֗ךְ וְיָבֹ֣א עָלֵ֣ימוֹ אֵידָ֑ם חֲ֝בָלִ֗ים יְחַלֵּ֥ק בְּאַפּֽוֹ׃ Job Job 21:17 Wie oft geschieht's denn, daß die Leuchte der Gottlosen verlischt und ihr Unglück über sie kommt? daß er Herzeleid über sie austeilt in seinem Zorn?(dhs) Job 21:17 "How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? How often does their destruction come upon them, The sorrows God distributes in His anger?(nkjv) ======= Job 21:18 ============ Job 21:18 "Are they as straw before the wind, And like chaff which the storm carries away?(nas) Job 21:18 ἔσονται δὲ ὥσπερ ἄχυρα πρὸ ἀνέμου ἢ ὥσπερ κονιορτός ὃν ὑφείλατο λαῖλαψ (lxx) Job 21:18 Erunt sicut paleæ ante faciem venti, et sicut favilla quam turbo dispergit.(vulgate) 18 ׃21 יִהְי֗וּ כְּתֶ֥בֶן לִפְנֵי־ר֑וּחַ וּ֝כְמֹ֗ץ גְּנָבַ֥תּוּ סוּפָֽה׃ Job Job 21:18 daß sie werden wie Stoppeln vor dem Winde und wie Spreu, die der Sturmwind wegführt?(dhs) Job 21:18 They are like straw before the wind, And like chaff that a storm carries away.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:19 ============ Job 21:19 "You say, 'God stores away a man's iniquity for his sons.' Let God repay him so that he may know it.(nas) Job 21:19 ἐκλίποι υἱοὺς τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ ἀνταποδώσει πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ γνώσεται (lxx) Job 21:19 Deus servabit filiis illius dolorem patris, et cum reddiderit, tunc sciet.(vulgate) 19 ׃21 אֱל֗וֹהַּ יִצְפֹּן־לְבָנָ֥יו אוֹנ֑וֹ יְשַׁלֵּ֖ם אֵלָ֣יו וְיֵדָֽע׃ Job Job 21:19 "Gott spart desselben Unglück auf seine Kinder". Er vergelte es ihm selbst, daß er's innewerde.(dhs) Job 21:19 They say, 'God lays up one's iniquity for his children'; Let Him recompense him, that he may know it.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:20 ============ Job 21:20 "Let his own eyes see his decay, And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.(nas) Job 21:20 ἴδοισαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ σφαγήν ἀπὸ δὲ κυρίου μὴ διασωθείη (lxx) Job 21:20 Videbunt oculi ejus interfectionem suam, et de furore Omnipotentis bibet.(vulgate) 20 ׃21 יִרְא֣וּ *עינו **עֵינָ֣יו כִּיד֑וֹ וּמֵחֲמַ֖ת שַׁדַּ֣י יִשְׁתֶּֽה׃ Job Job 21:20 Seine Augen mögen sein Verderben sehen, und vom Grimm des Allmächtigen möge er trinken.(dhs) Job 21:20 Let his eyes see his destruction, And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:21 ============ Job 21:21 "For what does he care for his household after him, When the number of his months is cut off?(nas) Job 21:21 ὅτι τί θέλημα αὐτοῦ ἐν οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ μετ᾽ αὐτόν καὶ ἀριθμοὶ μηνῶν αὐτοῦ διῃρέθησαν (lxx) Job 21:21 Quid enim ad eum pertinet de domo sua post se, et si numerus mensium ejus dimidietur?(vulgate) 21 ׃21 כִּ֤י מַה־חֶפְצ֣וֹ בְּבֵית֣וֹ אַחֲרָ֑יו וּמִסְפַּ֖ר חֳדָשָׁ֣יו חֻצָּֽצוּ׃ Job Job 21:21 Denn was ist ihm gelegen an seinem Hause nach ihm, wenn die Zahl seiner Monden ihm zugeteilt ist?(dhs) Job 21:21 For what does he care about his household after him, When the number of his months is cut in half?(nkjv) ======= Job 21:22 ============ Job 21:22 "Can anyone teach God knowledge, In that He judges those on high?(nas) Job 21:22 πότερον οὐχὶ ὁ κύριός ἐστιν ὁ διδάσκων σύνεσιν καὶ ἐπιστήμην αὐτὸς δὲ φόνους διακρινεῖ (lxx) Job 21:22 Numquid Deus docebit quispiam scientiam, qui excelsos judicat?(vulgate) 22 ׃21 הַלְאֵ֥ל יְלַמֶּד־דָּ֑עַת וְ֝ה֗וּא רָמִ֥ים יִשְׁפּֽוֹט׃ Job Job 21:22 Wer will Gott lehren, der auch die Hohen richtet?(dhs) Job 21:22 "Can anyone teach God knowledge, Since He judges those on high?(nkjv) ======= Job 21:23 ============ Job 21:23 "One dies in his full strength, Being wholly at ease and satisfied;(nas) Job 21:23 οὗτος ἀποθανεῖται ἐν κράτει ἁπλοσύνης αὐτοῦ ὅλος δὲ εὐπαθῶν καὶ εὐθηνῶν (lxx) Job 21:23 Iste moritur robustus et sanus, dives et felix:(vulgate) 23 ׃21 זֶ֗ה יָ֭מוּת בְּעֶ֣צֶם תֻּמּ֑וֹ כֻּ֝לּ֗וֹ שַׁלְאֲנַ֥ן וְשָׁלֵֽיו׃ Job Job 21:23 Dieser stirbt frisch und gesund in allem Reichtum und voller Genüge,(dhs) Job 21:23 One dies in his full strength, Being wholly at ease and secure;(nkjv) ======= Job 21:24 ============ Job 21:24 His sides are filled out with fat, And the marrow of his bones is moist,(nas) Job 21:24 τὰ δὲ ἔγκατα αὐτοῦ πλήρη στέατος μυελὸς δὲ αὐτοῦ διαχεῖται (lxx) Job 21:24 viscera ejus plena sunt adipe, et medullis ossa illius irrigantur:(vulgate) 24 ׃21 עֲ֭טִינָיו מָלְא֣וּ חָלָ֑ב וּמֹ֖חַ עַצְמוֹתָ֣יו יְשֻׁקֶּֽה׃ Job Job 21:24 sein Melkfaß ist voll Milch, und seine Gebeine werden gemästet mit Mark;(dhs) Job 21:24 His pails are full of milk, And the marrow of his bones is moist.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:25 ============ Job 21:25 While another dies with a bitter soul, Never even tasting anything good.(nas) Job 21:25 ὁ δὲ τελευτᾷ ὑπὸ πικρίας ψυχῆς οὐ φαγὼν οὐδὲν ἀγαθόν (lxx) Job 21:25 alius vero moritur in amaritudine animæ absque ullis opibus:(vulgate) 25 ׃21 וְזֶ֗ה יָ֭מוּת בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ מָרָ֑ה וִ[t]לֹֽא־אָ֝כַ֗ל בַּטּוֹבָֽה׃ Job Job 21:25 jener aber stirbt mit betrübter Seele und hat nie mit Freuden gegessen;(dhs) Job 21:25 Another man dies in the bitterness of his soul, Never having eaten with pleasure.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:26 ============ Job 21:26 "Together they lie down in the dust, And worms cover them.(nas) Job 21:26 ὁμοθυμαδὸν δὲ ἐπὶ γῆς κοιμῶνται σαπρία δὲ αὐτοὺς ἐκάλυψεν (lxx) Job 21:26 et tamen simul in pulvere dormient, et vermes operient eos.(vulgate) 26 ׃21 יַ֭חַד עַל־עָפָ֣ר יִשְׁכָּ֑בוּ וְ֝רִמָּ֗ה תְּכַסֶּ֥ה עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ Job Job 21:26 und liegen gleich miteinander in der Erde, und Würmer decken sie zu.(dhs) Job 21:26 They lie down alike in the dust, And worms cover them.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:27 ============ Job 21:27 "Behold, I know your thoughts, And the plans by which you would wrong me.(nas) Job 21:27 ὥστε οἶδα ὑμᾶς ὅτι τόλμῃ ἐπίκεισθέ μοι (lxx) Job 21:27 Certe novi cogitationes vestras, et sententias contra me iniquas.(vulgate) 27 ׃21 הֵ֣ן יָ֭דַעְתִּי מַחְשְׁבֽוֹתֵיכֶ֑ם וּ֝מְזִמּ֗וֹת עָלַ֥י תַּחְמֹֽסוּ׃ Job Job 21:27 Siehe, ich kenne eure Gedanken wohl und euer frevles Vornehmen gegen mich.(dhs) Job 21:27 "Look, I know your thoughts, And the schemes with which you would wrong me.(nkjv) ======= Job 21:28 ============ Job 21:28 "For you say, 'Where is the house of the nobleman, And where is the tent, the dwelling places of the wicked?'(nas) Job 21:28 ὅτι ἐρεῖτε ποῦ ἐστιν οἶκος ἄρχοντος καὶ ποῦ ἐστιν ἡ σκέπη τῶν σκηνωμάτων τῶν ἀσεβῶν (lxx) Job 21:28 Dicitis enim: Ubi est domus principis? et ubi tabernacula impiorum?(vulgate) 28 ׃21 כִּ֤י תֹֽאמְר֗וּ אַיֵּ֥ה בֵית־נָדִ֑יב וְ֝אַיֵּ֗ה אֹ֤הֶל ׀ מִשְׁכְּנ֬וֹת רְשָׁעִֽים׃ Job Job 21:28 Denn ihr sprecht: "Wo ist das Haus des Fürsten? und wo ist die Hütte, da die Gottlosen wohnten?"(dhs) Job 21:28 For you say, 'Where is the house of the prince?
