Today's Date: Job 27:23 Men shall clap their hands at him, And shall hiss him out of his place.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:1 ============ Job 28:1 "Surely there is a mine for silver And a place where they refine gold.(nas) Job 28:1 ἔστιν γὰρ ἀργυρίῳ τόπος ὅθεν γίνεται τόπος δὲ χρυσίῳ ὅθεν διηθεῖται (lxx) Job 28:1 [Habet argentum venarum suarum principia, et auro locus est in quo conflatur.(vulgate) 1 ׃28 כִּ֤י יֵ֣שׁ לַכֶּ֣סֶף מוֹצָ֑א וּ֝מָק֗וֹם לַזָּהָ֥ב יָזֹֽקּוּ׃ Job Job 28:1 Es hat das Silber seine Gänge, und das Gold, das man läutert seinen Ort.(dhs) Job 28:1 "Surely there is a mine for silver, And a place where gold is refined.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:2 ============ Job 28:2 "Iron is taken from the dust, And copper is smelted from rock.(nas) Job 28:2 σίδηρος μὲν γὰρ ἐκ γῆς γίνεται χαλκὸς δὲ ἴσα λίθῳ λατομεῖται (lxx) Job 28:2 Ferrum de terra tollitur, et lapis solutus calore in æs vertitur.(vulgate) 2 ׃28 בַּ֭רְזֶל מֵעָפָ֣ר יֻקָּ֑ח וְ֝אֶ֗בֶן יָצ֥וּק נְחוּשָֽׁה׃ Job Job 28:2 Eisen bringt man aus der Erde, und aus den Steinen schmelzt man Erz.(dhs) Job 28:2 Iron is taken from the earth, And copper is smelted from ore.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:3 ============ Job 28:3 "Man puts an end to darkness, And to the farthest limit he searches out The rock in gloom and deep shadow.(nas) Job 28:3 τάξιν ἔθετο σκότει καὶ πᾶν πέρας αὐτὸς ἐξακριβάζεται λίθος σκοτία καὶ σκιὰ θανάτου (lxx) Job 28:3 Tempus posuit tenebris, et universorum finem ipse considerat: lapidem quoque caliginis et umbram mortis.(vulgate) 3 ׃28 קֵ֤ץ ׀ שָׂ֤ם לַחֹ֗שֶׁךְ וּֽלְכָל־תַּ֭כְלִית ה֣וּא חוֹקֵ֑ר אֶ֖בֶן אֹ֣פֶל וְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃ Job Job 28:3 Man macht der Finsternis ein Ende und findet zuletzt das Gestein tief verborgen.(dhs) Job 28:3 Man puts an end to darkness, And searches every recess For ore in the darkness and the shadow of death.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:4 ============ Job 28:4 "He sinks a shaft far from habitation, Forgotten by the foot; They hang and swing to and fro far from men.(nas) Job 28:4 διακοπὴ χειμάρρου ἀπὸ κονίας οἱ δὲ ἐπιλανθανόμενοι ὁδὸν δικαίαν ἠσθένησαν ἐκ βροτῶν (lxx) Job 28:4 Dividit torrens a populo peregrinante eos quos oblitus est pes egentis hominis, et invios.(vulgate) 4 ׃28 פָּ֤רַץ נַ֨חַל ׀ מֵֽעִם־גָּ֗ר הַֽנִּשְׁכָּחִ֥ים מִנִּי־רָ֑גֶל דַּ֖לּוּ מֵאֱנ֣וֹשׁ נָֽעוּ׃ Job Job 28:4 Man bricht einen Schacht von da aus, wo man wohnt; darin hangen und schweben sie als die Vergessenen, da kein Fuß hin tritt, fern von den Menschen.(dhs) Job 28:4 He breaks open a shaft away from people; In places forgotten by feet They hang far away from men; They swing to and fro.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:5 ============ Job 28:5 "The earth, from it comes food, And underneath it is turned up as fire.(nas) Job 28:5 γῆ ἐξ αὐτῆς ἐξελεύσεται ἄρτος ὑποκάτω αὐτῆς ἐστράφη ὡσεὶ πῦρ (lxx) Job 28:5 Terra de qua oriebatur panis, in loco suo igni subversa est.(vulgate) 5 ׃28 אֶ֗רֶץ מִמֶּ֥נָּה יֵֽצֵא־לָ֑חֶם וְ֝תַחְתֶּ֗יהָ נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ כְּמוֹ־אֵֽשׁ׃ Job Job 28:5 Man zerwühlt unten die Erde wie mit Feuer, darauf doch oben die Speise wächst.(dhs) Job 28:5 As for the earth, from it comes bread, But underneath it is turned up as by fire;(nkjv) ======= Job 28:6 ============ Job 28:6 "Its rocks are the source of sapphires, And its dust contains gold.(nas) Job 28:6 τόπος σαπφείρου οἱ λίθοι αὐτῆς καὶ χῶμα χρυσίον αὐτῷ (lxx) Job 28:6 Locus sapphiri lapides ejus, et glebæ illius aurum.(vulgate) 6 ׃28 מְקוֹם־סַפִּ֥יר אֲבָנֶ֑יהָ וְעַפְרֹ֖ת זָהָ֣ב לֽוֹ׃ Job Job 28:6 Man findet Saphir an etlichen Orten, und Erdenklöße, da Gold ist.(dhs) Job 28:6 Its stones are the source of sapphires, And it contains gold dust.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:7 ============ Job 28:7 "The path no bird of prey knows, Nor has the falcon's eye caught sight of it.(nas) Job 28:7 τρίβος οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτὴν πετεινόν καὶ οὐ παρέβλεψεν αὐτὴν ὀφθαλμὸς γυπός (lxx) Job 28:7 Semitam ignoravit avis, nec intuitus est eam oculus vulturis.(vulgate) 7 ׃28 נָ֭תִיב לֹֽא־יְדָ֣עוֹ עָ֑יִט וְלֹ֥א שְׁ֝זָפַ֗תּוּ עֵ֣ין אַיָּֽה׃ Job Job 28:7 Den Steig kein Adler erkannt hat und kein Geiersauge gesehen;(dhs) Job 28:7 That path no bird knows, Nor has the falcon's eye seen it.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:8 ============ Job 28:8 "The proud beasts have not trodden it, Nor has the fierce lion passed over it.(nas) Job 28:8 οὐκ ἐπάτησαν αὐτὴν υἱοὶ ἀλαζόνων οὐ παρῆλθεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς λέων (lxx) Job 28:8 Non calcaverunt eam filii institorum, nec pertransivit per eam leæna.(vulgate) 8 ׃28 לֹֽא־הִדְרִיכֻ֥הוּ בְנֵי־שָׁ֑חַץ לֹֽא־עָדָ֖ה עָלָ֣יו שָֽׁחַל׃ Job Job 28:8 es hat das stolze Wild nicht darauf getreten und ist kein Löwe darauf gegangen.(dhs) Job 28:8 The proud lions have not trodden it, Nor has the fierce lion passed over it.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:9 ============ Job 28:9 "He puts his hand on the flint; He overturns the mountains at the base.(nas) Job 28:9 ἐν ἀκροτόμῳ ἐξέτεινεν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ κατέστρεψεν δὲ ἐκ ῥιζῶν ὄρη (lxx) Job 28:9 Ad silicem extendit manum suam: subvertit a radicibus montes.(vulgate) 9 ׃28 בַּֽ֭חַלָּמִישׁ שָׁלַ֣ח יָד֑וֹ הָפַ֖ךְ מִשֹּׁ֣רֶשׁ הָרִֽים׃ Job Job 28:9 Auch legt man die Hand an die Felsen und gräbt die Berge um.(dhs) Job 28:9 He puts his hand on the flint; And where is the place of understanding?(nas) Job 28:12 ἡ δὲ σοφία πόθεν εὑρέθη ποῖος δὲ τόπος ἐστὶν τῆς ἐπιστήμης (lxx) Job 28:12 Sapientia vero ubi invenitur? et quis est locus intelligentiæ?(vulgate) 12 ׃28 וְֽ֭הַחָכְמָה מֵאַ֣יִן תִּמָּצֵ֑א וְאֵ֥י זֶ֝ה מְק֣וֹם בִּינָֽה׃ Job Job 28:12 Wo will man aber die Weisheit finden? und wo ist die Stätte des Verstandes?(dhs) Job 28:12 "But where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?(nkjv) ======= Job 28:13 ============ Job 28:13 "Man does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living.(nas) Job 28:13 οὐκ οἶδεν βροτὸς ὁδὸν αὐτῆς οὐδὲ μὴ εὑρεθῇ ἐν ἀνθρώποις (lxx) Job 28:13 Nescit homo pretium ejus, nec invenitur in terra suaviter viventium.(vulgate) 13 ׃28 לֹא־יָדַ֣ע אֱנ֣וֹשׁ עֶרְכָּ֑הּ וְלֹ֥א תִ֝מָּצֵ֗א בְּאֶ֣רֶץ הֽ͏ַחַיִּֽים׃ Job Job 28:13 Niemand weiß, wo sie liegt, und sie wird nicht gefunden im Lande der Lebendigen.(dhs) Job 28:13 Man does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:14 ============ Job 28:14 "The deep says, 'It is not in me'; And the sea says, 'It is not with me.'(nas) Job 28:14 ἄβυσσος εἶπεν οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν ἐμοί καὶ θάλασσα εἶπεν οὐκ ἔστιν μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ (lxx) Job 28:14 Abyssus dicit: Non est in me, et mare loquitur: Non est mecum.(vulgate) 14 ׃28 תְּה֣וֹם אָ֭מַר לֹ֣א בִי־הִ֑יא וְיָ֥ם אָ֝מַ֗ר אֵ֣ין עִמָּדִֽי׃ Job Job 28:14 Die Tiefe spricht: "Sie ist in mir nicht"; und das Meer spricht: "Sie ist nicht bei mir".(dhs) Job 28:14 The deep says, 'It is not in me'; And the sea says, 'It is not with me.'(nkjv) ======= Job 28:15 ============ Job 28:15 "Pure gold cannot be given in exchange for it, Nor can silver be weighed as its price.(nas) Job 28:15 οὐ δώσει συγκλεισμὸν ἀντ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ οὐ σταθήσεται ἀργύριον ἀντάλλαγμα αὐτῆς (lxx) Job 28:15 Non dabitur aurum obrizum pro ea, nec appendetur argentum in commutatione ejus.(vulgate) 15 ׃28 לֹא־יֻתַּ֣ן סְג֣וֹר תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ וְלֹ֥א יִ֝שָּׁקֵ֗ל כֶּ֣סֶף מְחִירָֽהּ׃ Job Job 28:15 Man kann nicht Gold um sie geben noch Silber darwägen, sie zu bezahlen.(dhs) Job 28:15 It cannot be purchased for gold, Nor can silver be weighed for its price.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:16 ============ Job 28:16 "It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, In precious onyx, or sapphire.(nas) Job 28:16 καὶ οὐ συμβασταχθήσεται χρυσίῳ Ωφιρ ἐν ὄνυχι τιμίῳ καὶ σαπφείρῳ (lxx) Job 28:16 Non conferetur tinctis Indiæ coloribus, nec lapidi sardonycho pretiosissimo vel sapphiro.(vulgate) 16 ׃28 לֹֽא־תְ֭סֻלֶּה בְּכֶ֣תֶם אוֹפִ֑יר בְּשֹׁ֖הַם יָקָ֣ר וְסַפִּֽיר׃ Job Job 28:16 Es gilt ihr nicht gleich ophirisch Gold oder köstlicher Onyx und Saphir.(dhs) Job 28:16 It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, In precious onyx or sapphire.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:17 ============ Job 28:17 "Gold or glass cannot equal it, Nor can it be exchanged for articles of fine gold.(nas) Job 28:17 οὐκ ἰσωθήσεται αὐτῇ χρυσίον καὶ ὕαλος καὶ τὸ ἄλλαγμα αὐτῆς σκεύη χρυσᾶ (lxx) Job 28:17 Non adæquabitur ei aurum vel vitrum, nec commutabuntur pro ea vasa auri.(vulgate) 17 ׃28 לֹא־יַעַרְכֶ֣נָּה זָ֭הָב וּזְכוֹכִ֑ית וּתְמ֖וּרָתָ֣הּ כְּלִי־פָֽז׃ Job Job 28:17 Gold und Glas kann man ihr nicht vergleichen noch um sie golden Kleinod wechseln.(dhs) Job 28:17 Neither gold nor crystal can equal it, Nor can it be exchanged for jewelry of fine gold.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:18 ============ Job 28:18 "Coral and crystal are not to be mentioned; And the acquisition of wisdom is above that of pearls.(nas) Job 28:18 μετέωρα καὶ γαβις οὐ μνησθήσεται καὶ ἕλκυσον σοφίαν ὑπὲρ τὰ ἐσώτατα (lxx) Job 28:18 Excelsa et eminentia non memorabuntur comparatione ejus: trahitur autem sapientia de occultis.(vulgate) 18 ׃28 רָאמ֣וֹת וְ֭גָבִישׁ לֹ֣א יִזָּכֵ֑ר וּמֶ֥שֶׁךְ חָ֝כְמָ֗ה מִפְּנִינִֽים׃ Job Job 28:18 Korallen und Kristall achtet man gegen sie nicht. Die Weisheit ist höher zu wägen denn Perlen.(dhs) Job 28:18 No mention shall be made of coral or quartz, For the price of wisdom is above rubies.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:19 ============ Job 28:19 "The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it, Nor can it be valued in pure gold.(nas) Job 28:19 οὐκ ἰσωθήσεται αὐτῇ τοπάζιον Αἰθιοπίας χρυσίῳ καθαρῷ οὐ συμβασταχθήσεται (lxx) Job 28:19 Non adæquabitur ei topazius de Æthiopia, nec tincturæ mundissimæ componetur.(vulgate) 19 ׃28 לֹֽא־יַ֭עַרְכֶנָּה פִּטְדַת־כּ֑וּשׁ בְּכֶ֥תֶם טָ֝ה֗וֹר לֹ֣א תְסֻלֶּֽה׃ פ Job Job 28:19 Topaz aus dem Mohrenland wird ihr nicht gleich geschätzt, und das reinste Gold gilt ihr nicht gleich.(dhs) Job 28:19 The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it, Nor can it be valued in pure gold.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:20 ============ Job 28:20 "Where then does wisdom come from? And where is the place of understanding?(nkjv) ======= Job 28:21 ============ Job 28:21 "Thus it is hidden from the eyes of all living And concealed from the birds of the sky.(nas) Job 28:21 λέληθεν πάντα ἄνθρωπον καὶ ἀπὸ πετεινῶν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐκρύβη (lxx) Job 28:21 Abscondita est ab oculis omnium viventium: volucres quoque cæli latet.(vulgate) 21 ׃28 וְֽ֭נֶעֶלְמָה מֵעֵינֵ֣י כָל־חָ֑י וּמֵע֖וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם נִסְתָּֽרָה׃ Job Job 28:21 Sie ist verhohlen vor den Augen aller Lebendigen, auch den Vögeln unter dem Himmel.(dhs) Job 28:21 It is hidden from the eyes of all living, And concealed from the birds of the air.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:22 ============ Job 28:22 "Abaddon and Death say, 'With our ears we have heard a report of it.'(nas) Job 28:22 ἡ ἀπώλεια καὶ ὁ θάνατος εἶπαν ἀκηκόαμεν δὲ αὐτῆς τὸ κλέος (lxx) Job 28:22 Perditio et mors dixerunt: Auribus nostris audivimus famam ejus.(vulgate) 22 ׃28 אֲבַדּ֣וֹן וָ֭מָוֶת אָ֣מְר֑וּ בְּ֝אָזְנֵ֗ינוּ שָׁמַ֥עְנוּ שִׁמְעָֽהּ׃ Job Job 28:22 Der Abgrund und der Tod sprechen: "Wir haben mit unsern Ohren ihr Gerücht gehört."(dhs) Job 28:22 Destruction and Death say, 'We have heard a report about it with our ears.'(nkjv) ======= Job 28:23 ============ Job 28:23 "God understands its way, And He knows its place.(nas) Job 28:23 ὁ θεὸς εὖ συνέστησεν αὐτῆς τὴν ὁδόν αὐτὸς δὲ οἶδεν τὸν τόπον αὐτῆς (lxx) Job 28:23 Deus intelligit viam ejus, et ipse novit locum illius.(vulgate) 23 ׃28 אֱ֭לֹהִים הֵבִ֣ין דַּרְכָּ֑הּ וְ֝ה֗וּא יָדַ֥ע אֶת־מְקוֹמָֽהּ׃ Job Job 28:23 Gott weiß den Weg dazu und kennt ihre Stätte.(dhs) Job 28:23 God understands its way, And He knows its place.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:24 ============ Job 28:24 "For He looks to the ends of the earth And sees everything under the heavens.(nas) Job 28:24 αὐτὸς γὰρ τὴν ὑπ᾽ οὐρανὸν πᾶσαν ἐφορᾷ εἰδὼς τὰ ἐν τῇ γῇ πάντα ἃ ἐποίησεν (lxx) Job 28:24 Ipse enim fines mundi intuetur, et omnia quæ sub cælo sunt respicit.(vulgate) 24 ׃28 כִּי־ה֭וּא לִקְצוֹת־הָאָ֣רֶץ יַבִּ֑יט תַּ֖חַת כָּל־הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם יִרְאֶֽה׃ Job Job 28:24 Denn er sieht die Enden der Erde und schaut alles, was unter dem Himmel ist.(dhs) Job 28:24 For He looks to the ends of the earth, And sees under the whole heavens,(nkjv) ======= Job 28:25 ============ Job 28:25 "When He imparted weight to the wind And meted out the waters by measure,(nas) Job 28:25 ἀνέμων σταθμὸν ὕδατός τε μέτρα (lxx) Job 28:25 Qui fecit ventis pondus, et aquas appendit in mensura.(vulgate) 25 ׃28 לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת לָר֣וּחַ מִשְׁקָ֑ל וּ֝מַ֗יִם תִּכֵּ֥ן בְּמִדָּֽה׃ Job Job 28:25 Da er dem Winde sein Gewicht machte und setzte dem Wasser sein gewisses Maß;(dhs) Job 28:25 To establish a weight for the wind, And apportion the waters by measure.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:26 ============ Job 28:26 When He set a limit for the rain And a course for the thunderbolt,(nas) Job 28:26 ὅτε ἐποίησεν οὕτως ὑετὸν ἠρίθμησεν καὶ ὁδὸν ἐν τινάγματι φωνάς (lxx) Job 28:26 Quando ponebat pluviis legem, et viam procellis sonantibus:(vulgate) 26 ׃28 בַּעֲשֹׂת֣וֹ לַמָּטָ֣ר חֹ֑ק וְ֝דֶ֗רֶךְ לַחֲזִ֥יז קֹלֽוֹת׃ Job Job 28:26 da er dem Regen ein Ziel machte und dem Blitz und Donner den Weg:(dhs) Job 28:26 When He made a law for the rain, And a path for the thunderbolt,(nkjv) ======= Job 28:27 ============ Job 28:27 Then He saw it and declared it; He established it and also searched it out.(nas) Job 28:27 τότε εἶδεν αὐτὴν καὶ ἐξηγήσατο αὐτήν ἑτοιμάσας ἐξιχνίασεν (lxx) Job 28:27 tunc vidit illam et enarravit, et præparavit, et investigavit.(vulgate) 27 ׃28 אָ֣ז רָ֭אָהּ וַֽיְסַפְּרָ֑הּ הֱ֝כִינָ֗הּ וְגַם־חֲקָרָֽהּ׃ Job Job 28:27 da sah er sie und verkündigte sie, bereitete sie und ergründete sie(dhs) Job 28:27 Then He saw wisdom and declared it; He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out.(nkjv) ======= Job 28:28 ============ Job 28:28 "And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.'"(nas) Job 28:28 εἶπεν δὲ ἀνθρώπῳ ἰδοὺ ἡ θεοσέβειά ἐστιν σοφία τὸ δὲ ἀπέχεσθαι ἀπὸ κακῶν ἐστιν ἐπιστήμη (lxx) Job 28:28 Et dixit homini: Ecce timor Domini, ipsa est sapientia; et recedere a malo, intelligentia.](vulgate) 28 ׃28 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר ׀ לָֽאָדָ֗ם הֵ֤ן יִרְאַ֣ת אֲ֭דֹנָי הִ֣יא חָכְמָ֑ה וְס֖וּר מֵרָ֣ע בִּינָֽה׃ ס Job Job 28:28 und sprach zu den Menschen: Siehe, die Furcht des HERRN, das ist Weisheit; und meiden das Böse, das ist Verstand.(dhs) Job 28:28 And to man He said, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.'
