Today's Date: Job 39:30 Its young ones suck up blood; And where the slain are, there it is."(nkjv) ======= Job 40:1 ============ Job 40:1 Then the Lord said to Job,(nas) Job 40:1 καὶ ἀπεκρίθη κύριος ὁ θεὸς τῷ Ιωβ καὶ εἶπεν (lxx) Job 40:1 Et adjecit Dominus, et locutus est ad Job:(vulgate) 1 ׃40 וַיַּ֖עַן יְהוָ֥ה אֶת־אִיּ֗וֹב וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Job Job 40:1 Und der HERR antwortete Hiob und sprach:(dhs) Job 40:1 Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 40:2 ============ Job 40:2 "Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who reproves God answer it."(nas) Job 40:2 μὴ κρίσιν μετὰ ἱκανοῦ ἐκκλινεῖ ἐλέγχων θεὸν ἀποκριθήσεται αὐτήν (lxx) Job 40:2 [Numquid qui contendit cum Deo, tam facile conquiescit? utique qui arguit Deum, debet respondere ei.](vulgate) 2 ׃40 הֲ֭רֹב עִם־שַׁדַּ֣י יִסּ֑וֹר מוֹכִ֖יחַ אֱל֣וֹהַּ יַעֲנֶֽנָּה׃ פ Job Job 40:2 Will mit dem Allmächtigen rechten der Haderer? Wer Gott tadelt, soll's der nicht verantworten?(dhs) Job 40:2 "Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct Him? He who rebukes God, let him answer it."(nkjv) ======= Job 40:3 ============ Job 40:3 Then Job answered the Lord and said,(nas) Job 40:3 ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Ιωβ λέγει τῷ κυρίῳ (lxx) Job 40:3 Respondens autem Job Domino, dixit:(vulgate) 3 ׃40 וַיַּ֖עַן אִיּ֥וֹב אֶת־יְהוָ֗ה וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Job Job 40:3 Hiob aber antwortete dem HERRN und sprach:(dhs) Job 40:3 Then Job answered the Lord and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 40:4 ============ Job 40:4 "Behold, I am insignificant; what can I reply to You? I lay my hand on my mouth.(nas) Job 40:4 τί ἔτι ἐγὼ κρίνομαι νουθετούμενος καὶ ἐλέγχων κύριον ἀκούων τοιαῦτα οὐθὲν ὤν ἐγὼ δὲ τίνα ἀπόκρισιν δῶ πρὸς ταῦτα χεῖρα θήσω ἐπὶ στόματί μου (lxx) Job 40:4 [Qui leviter locutus sum, respondere quid possum? manum meam ponam super os meum.(vulgate) 4 ׃40 הֵ֣ן קַ֭לֹּתִי מָ֣ה אֲשִׁיבֶ֑ךָּ יָ֝דִ֗י שַׂ֣מְתִּי לְמוֹ־פִֽי׃ Job Job 40:4 Siehe, ich bin zu leichtfertig gewesen; was soll ich verantworten? Ich will meine Hand auf meinen Mund legen.(dhs) Job 40:4 "Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:5 ============ Job 40:5 "Once I have spoken, and I will not answer; Even twice, and I will add nothing more."(nas) Job 40:5 ἅπαξ λελάληκα ἐπὶ δὲ τῷ δευτέρῳ οὐ προσθήσω (lxx) Job 40:5 Unum locutus sum, quod utinam non dixissem: et alterum, quibus ultra non addam.](vulgate) 5 ׃40 אַחַ֣ת דִּ֭בַּרְתִּי וְלֹ֣א אֶֽעֱנֶ֑ה וּ֝שְׁתַּ֗יִם וְלֹ֣א אוֹסִֽיף׃ פ Job Job 40:5 Ich habe einmal geredet, und will nicht antworten; zum andernmal will ich's nicht mehr tun.(dhs) Job 40:5 Once I have spoken, but I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further."(nkjv) ======= Job 40:6 ============ Job 40:6 Then the Lord answered Job out of the storm and said,(nas) Job 40:6 ἔτι δὲ ὑπολαβὼν ὁ κύριος εἶπεν τῷ Ιωβ ἐκ τοῦ νέφους (lxx) Job 40:6 Respondens autem Dominus Job de turbine, dixit:(vulgate) 6 ׃40 וַיַּֽעַן־יְהוָ֣ה אֶת־אִ֭יּוֹב *מנ[c] *סערה **מִ֥ן ׀ **סְעָרָ֗ה וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Job Job 40:6 Und der HERR antwortete Hiob aus dem Wetter und sprach:(dhs) Job 40:6 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:(nkjv) ======= Job 40:7 ============ Job 40:7 "Now gird up your loins like a man; I will ask you, and you instruct Me.(nas) Job 40:7 μή ἀλλὰ ζῶσαι ὥσπερ ἀνὴρ τὴν ὀσφύν σου ἐρωτήσω δέ σε σὺ δέ μοι ἀποκρίθητι (lxx) Job 40:7 [Accinge sicut vir lumbos tuos: interrogabo te, et indica mihi.(vulgate) 7 ׃40 אֱזָר־נָ֣א כְגֶ֣בֶר חֲלָצֶ֑יךָ אֶ֝שְׁאָלְךָ֗ וְהוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃ Job Job 40:7 Gürte wie ein Mann deine Lenden; ich will dich fragen, lehre mich!(dhs) Job 40:7 "Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me:(nkjv) ======= Job 40:8 ============ Job 40:8 "Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified?(nas) Job 40:8 μὴ ἀποποιοῦ μου τὸ κρίμα οἴει δέ με ἄλλως σοι κεχρηματικέναι ἢ ἵνα ἀναφανῇς δίκαιος (lxx) Job 40:8 Numquid irritum facies judicium meum, et condemnabis me, ut tu justificeris?(vulgate) 8 ׃40 הַ֭אַף תָּפֵ֣ר מִשְׁפָּטִ֑י תַּ֝רְשִׁיעֵ֗נִי לְמַ֣עַן תִּצְדָּֽק׃ Job Job 40:8 Solltest du mein Urteil zunichte machen und mich verdammen, daß du gerecht seist?(dhs) Job 40:8 "Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?(nkjv) ======= Job 40:9 ============ Job 40:9 "Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His?(nas) Job 40:9 ἦ βραχίων σοί ἐστιν κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου ἢ φωνῇ κατ᾽ αὐτὸν βροντᾷς (lxx) Job 40:9 Et si habes brachium sicut Deus? et si voce simili tonas?(vulgate) 9 ׃40 וְאִם־זְר֖וֹעַ כָּאֵ֥ל ׀ לָ֑ךְ וּ֝בְק֗וֹל כָּמֹ֥הוּ תַרְעֵֽם׃ Job Job 40:9 Hast du einen Arm wie Gott, und kannst mit gleicher Stimme donnern, wie er tut?(dhs) Job 40:9 Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His?(nkjv) ======= Job 40:10 ============ Job 40:10 "Adorn yourself with eminence and dignity, And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.(nas) Job 40:10 ἀνάλαβε δὴ ὕψος καὶ δύναμιν δόξαν δὲ καὶ τιμὴν ἀμφίεσαι (lxx) Job 40:10 Circumda tibi decorem, et in sublime erigere, et esto gloriosus, et speciosis induere vestibus.(vulgate) 10 ׃40 עֲדֵ֥ה נָ֣א גָֽא֣וֹן וָגֹ֑בַהּ וְה֖וֹד וְהָדָ֣ר תִּלְבָּֽשׁ׃ Job Job 40:10 Schmücke dich mit Pracht und erhebe dich; ziehe Majestät und Herrlichkeit an!(dhs) Job 40:10 Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, And array yourself with glory and beauty.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:11 ============ Job 40:11 "Pour out the overflowings of your anger, And look on everyone who is proud, and make him low.(nas) Job 40:11 ἀπόστειλον δὲ ἀγγέλους ὀργῇ πᾶν δὲ ὑβριστὴν ταπείνωσον (lxx) Job 40:11 Disperge superbos in furore tuo, et respiciens omnem arrogantem humilia.(vulgate) 11 ׃40 הָ֭פֵץ עֶבְר֣וֹת אַפֶּ֑ךָ וּרְאֵ֥ה כָל־גֵּ֝אֶ֗ה וְהַשְׁפִּילֵֽהוּ׃ Job Job 40:11 Streue aus den Zorn deines Grimmes; schaue an die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind, und demütige sie!(dhs) Job 40:11 Disperse the rage of your wrath; Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:12 ============ Job 40:12 "Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him, And tread down the wicked where they stand.(nas) Job 40:12 ὑπερήφανον δὲ σβέσον σῆψον δὲ ἀσεβεῖς παραχρῆμα (lxx) Job 40:12 Respice cunctos superbos, et confunde eos, et contere impios in loco suo.(vulgate) 12 ׃40 רְאֵ֣ה כָל־גֵּ֭אֶה הַכְנִיעֵ֑הוּ וַהֲדֹ֖ךְ רְשָׁעִ֣ים תַּחְתָּֽם׃ Job Job 40:12 Ja, schaue die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind und beuge sie; und zermalme die Gottlosen, wo sie sind!(dhs) Job 40:12 Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low; Tread down the wicked in their place.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:13 ============ Job 40:13 "Hide them in the dust together; Bind them in the hidden place.(nas) Job 40:13 κρύψον δὲ εἰς γῆν ἔξω ὁμοθυμαδόν τὰ δὲ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ἀτιμίας ἔμπλησον (lxx) Job 40:13 Absconde eos in pulvere simul, et facies eorum demerge in foveam.(vulgate) 13 ׃40 טָמְנֵ֣ם בֶּעָפָ֣ר יָ֑חַד פְּ֝נֵיהֶ֗ם חֲבֹ֣שׁ בַּטָּמֽוּן׃ Job Job 40:13 Verscharre sie miteinander in die Erde und versenke ihre Pracht ins Verborgene,(dhs) Job 40:13 Hide them in the dust together, Bind their faces in hidden darkness.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:14 ============ Job 40:14 "Then I will also confess to you, That your own right hand can save you.(nas) Job 40:14 ὁμολογήσω ἄρα ὅτι δύναται ἡ δεξιά σου σῶσαι (lxx) Job 40:14 Et ego confitebor quod salvare te possit dextera tua.(vulgate) 14 ׃40 וְגַם־אֲנִ֥י אוֹדֶ֑ךָּ כִּֽי־תוֹשִׁ֖עַ לְךָ֣ יְמִינֶֽךָ׃ Job Job 40:14 so will ich dir auch bekennen, daß dir deine rechte Hand helfen kann.(dhs) Job 40:14 Then I will also confess to you That your own right hand can save you.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:15 ============ Job 40:15 "Behold now, Behemoth, which I made as well as you; He eats grass like an ox.(nas) Job 40:15 ἀλλὰ δὴ ἰδοὺ θηρία παρὰ σοί χόρτον ἴσα βουσὶν ἐσθίει (lxx) Job 40:15 Ecce behemoth quem feci tecum, fœnum quasi bos comedet.(vulgate) 15 ׃40 הִנֵּה־נָ֣א בְ֭הֵמוֹת אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂ֣יתִי עִמָּ֑ךְ חָ֝צִ֗יר כַּבָּקָ֥ר יֹאכֵֽל׃ Job Job 40:15 Siehe da, den Behemoth, den ich neben dir gemacht habe; er frißt Gras wie ein Ochse.(dhs) Job 40:15 "Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:16 ============ Job 40:16 "Behold now, his strength in his loins And his power in the muscles of his belly.(nas) Job 40:16 ἰδοὺ δὴ ἰσχὺς αὐτοῦ ἐπ᾽ ὀσφύι ἡ δὲ δύναμις ἐπ᾽ ὀμφαλοῦ γαστρός (lxx) Job 40:16 Fortitudo ejus in lumbis ejus, et virtus illius in umbilico ventris ejus.(vulgate) 16 ׃40 הִנֵּה־נָ֣א כֹח֣וֹ בְמָתְנָ֑יו וְ֝אֹנ֗וֹ בִּשְׁרִירֵ֥י בִטְנֽוֹ׃ Job Job 40:16 Siehe seine Kraft ist in seinen Lenden und sein Vermögen in den Sehnen seines Bauches.(dhs) Job 40:16 See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:17 ============ Job 40:17 "He bends his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are knit together.(nas) Job 40:17 ἔστησεν οὐρὰν ὡς κυπάρισσον τὰ δὲ νεῦρα αὐτοῦ συμπέπλεκται (lxx) Job 40:17 Stringit caudam suam quasi cedrum; nervi testiculorum ejus perplexi sunt.(vulgate) 17 ׃40 יַחְפֹּ֣ץ זְנָב֣וֹ כְמוֹ־אָ֑רֶז גִּידֵ֖י *פחדו **פַחֲדָ֣יו יְשֹׂרָֽגוּ׃ Job Job 40:17 Sein Schwanz streckt sich wie eine Zeder; die Sehnen seiner Schenkel sind dicht geflochten.(dhs) Job 40:17 He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:18 ============ Job 40:18 "His bones are tubes of bronze; His limbs are like bars of iron.(nas) Job 40:18 αἱ πλευραὶ αὐτοῦ πλευραὶ χάλκειαι ἡ δὲ ῥάχις αὐτοῦ σίδηρος χυτός (lxx) Job 40:18 Ossa ejus velut fistulæ æris; cartilago illius quasi laminæ ferreæ.(vulgate) 18 ׃40 עֲ֭צָמָיו אֲפִיקֵ֣י נְחוּשָׁ֑ה גְּ֝רָמָ֗יו כִּמְטִ֥יל בַּרְזֶֽל׃ Job Job 40:18 Seine Knochen sind wie eherne Röhren; seine Gebeine sind wie eiserne Stäbe.(dhs) Job 40:18 His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:19 ============ Job 40:19 "He is the first of the ways of God; Let his maker bring near his sword.(nas) Job 40:19 τοῦτ᾽ ἔστιν ἀρχὴ πλάσματος κυρίου πεποιημένον ἐγκαταπαίζεσθαι ὑπὸ τῶν ἀγγέλων αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 40:19 Ipse est principium viarum Dei: qui fecit eum applicabit gladium ejus.(vulgate) 19 ׃40 ה֭וּא רֵאשִׁ֣ית דַּרְכֵי־אֵ֑ל הָ֝עֹשׂוֹ יַגֵּ֥שׁ חַרְבּֽוֹ׃ Job Job 40:19 Er ist der Anfang der Wege Gottes; der ihn gemacht hat, der gab ihm sein Schwert.(dhs) Job 40:19 He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:20 ============ Job 40:20 "Surely the mountains bring him food, And all the beasts of the field play there.(nas) Job 40:20 ἐπελθὼν δὲ ἐπ᾽ ὄρος ἀκρότομον ἐποίησεν χαρμονὴν τετράποσιν ἐν τῷ ταρτάρῳ (lxx) Job 40:20 Huic montes herbas ferunt: omnes bestiæ agri ludent ibi.(vulgate) 20 ׃40 כִּֽי־ב֭וּל הָרִ֣ים יִשְׂאוּ־ל֑וֹ וְֽכָל־חַיַּ֥ת הַ֝שָּׂדֶ֗ה יְשַֽׂחֲקוּ־שָֽׁם׃ Job Job 40:20 Die Berge tragen ihm Kräuter, und alle wilden Tiere spielen daselbst.(dhs) Job 40:20 Surely the mountains yield food for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:21 ============ Job 40:21 "Under the lotus plants he lies down, In the covert of the reeds and the marsh.(nas) Job 40:21 ὑπὸ παντοδαπὰ δένδρα κοιμᾶται παρὰ πάπυρον καὶ κάλαμον καὶ βούτομον (lxx) Job 40:21 Sub umbra dormit in secreto calami, et in locis humentibus.(vulgate) 21 ׃40 תַּֽחַת־צֶאֱלִ֥ים יִשְׁכָּ֑ב בְּסֵ֖תֶר קָנֶ֣ה וּבִצָּֽה׃ Job Job 40:21 Er liegt gern im Schatten, im Rohr und im Schlamm verborgen.(dhs) Job 40:21 He lies under the lotus trees, In a covert of reeds and marsh.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:22 ============ Job 40:22 "The lotus plants cover him with shade; The willows of the brook surround him.(nas) Job 40:22 σκιάζονται δὲ ἐν αὐτῷ δένδρα μεγάλα σὺν ῥαδάμνοις καὶ κλῶνες ἄγνου (lxx) Job 40:22 Protegunt umbræ umbram ejus: circumdabunt eum salices torrentis.(vulgate) 22 ׃40 יְסֻכֻּ֣הוּ צֶאֱלִ֣ים צִֽלֲל֑וֹ יְ֝סֻבּ֗וּהוּ עַרְבֵי־נָֽחַל׃ Job Job 40:22 Das Gebüsch bedeckt ihn mit seinem Schatten, und die Bachweiden umgeben ihn.(dhs) Job 40:22 The lotus trees cover him with their shade; The willows by the brook surround him.(nkjv) ======= Job 40:23 ============ Job 40:23 "If a river rages, he is not alarmed; He is confident, though the Jordan rushes to his mouth.(nas) Job 40:23 ἐὰν γένηται πλήμμυρα οὐ μὴ αἰσθηθῇ πέποιθεν ὅτι προσκρούσει ὁ Ιορδάνης εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 40:23 Ecce absorbebit fluvium, et non mirabitur, et habet fiduciam quod influat Jordanis in os ejus.(vulgate) 23 ׃40 הֵ֤ן יַעֲשֹׁ֣ק נָ֭הָר לֹ֣א יַחְפּ֑וֹז יִבְטַ֓ח ׀ כִּֽי־יָגִ֖יחַ יַרְדֵּ֣ן אֶל־פִּֽיהוּ׃ Job Job 40:23 Siehe, er schluckt in sich den Strom und achtet's nicht groß; läßt sich dünken, er wolle den Jordan mit seinem Munde ausschöpfen.(dhs) Job 40:23 Indeed the river may rage, Yet he is not disturbed; He is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth,(nkjv) ======= Job 40:24 ============ Job 40:24 "Can anyone capture him when he is on watch, With barbs can anyone pierce his nose?(nas) Job 40:24 ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ αὐτοῦ δέξεται αὐτόν ἐνσκολιευόμενος τρήσει ῥῖνα (lxx) Job 40:24 In oculis ejus quasi hamo capiet eum, et in sudibus perforabit nares ejus.(vulgate) 24 ׃40 בְּעֵינָ֥יו יִקָּחֶ֑נּוּ בְּ֝מֽוֹקְשִׁ֗ים יִנְקָב־אָֽף׃ Job Job 40:24 Fängt man ihn wohl vor seinen Augen und durchbohrt ihm mit Stricken seine Nase?(dhs) Job 40:24 Though he takes it in his eyes, Or one pierces his nose with a snare.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:1 ============ top of the page
