Or press down his tongue with a cord?(nas) Job 41:1 ἄξεις δὲ δράκοντα ἐν ἀγκίστρῳ περιθήσεις δὲ φορβεὰν περὶ ῥῖνα αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 41:1 An extrahere poteris Leviathan hamo, et fune ligabis linguam ejus?(vulgate) 25 ׃40 תִּמְשֹׁ֣ךְ לִוְיָתָ֣ן בְּחַכָּ֑ה וּ֝בְחֶ֗בֶל תַּשְׁקִ֥יעַ לְשֹׁנֽוֹ׃ Job Job 41:1 Kannst du den Leviathan ziehen mit dem Haken und seine Zunge mit einer Schnur fassen?(dhs) Job 41:1 "Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook, Or snare his tongue with a line which you lower?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:2 ============ Job 41:2 "Can you put a rope in his nose Or pierce his jaw with a hook?(nas) Job 41:2 εἰ δήσεις κρίκον ἐν τῷ μυκτῆρι αὐτοῦ ψελίῳ δὲ τρυπήσεις τὸ χεῖλος αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 41:2 Numquid pones circulum in naribus ejus, aut armilla perforabis maxillam ejus?(vulgate) 26 ׃40 הֲתָשִׂ֣ים אַגְמ֣וֹן בְּאַפּ֑וֹ וּ֝בְח֗וֹחַ תִּקּ֥וֹב לֶֽחֱיוֹ׃ Job Job 41:2 Kannst du ihm eine Angel in die Nase legen und mit einem Stachel ihm die Backen durchbohren?(dhs) Job 41:2 Can you put a reed through his nose, Or pierce his jaw with a hook?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:3 ============ Job 41:3 "Will he make many supplications to you, Or will he speak to you soft words?(nas) Job 41:3 λαλήσει δέ σοι δεήσει ἱκετηρίᾳ μαλακῶς (lxx) Job 41:3 Numquid multiplicabit ad te preces, aut loquetur tibi mollia?(vulgate) 27 ׃40 הֲיַרְבֶּ֣ה אֵ֭לֶיךָ תַּחֲנוּנִ֑ים אִם־יְדַבֵּ֖ר אֵלֶ֣יךָ רַכּֽוֹת׃ Job Job 41:3 Meinst du, er werde dir viel Flehens machen oder dir heucheln?(dhs) Job 41:3 Will he make many supplications to you? Will he speak softly to you?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:4 ============ Job 41:4 "Will he make a covenant with you? Will you take him for a servant forever?(nas) Job 41:4 θήσεται δὲ διαθήκην μετὰ σοῦ λήμψῃ δὲ αὐτὸν δοῦλον αἰώνιον (lxx) Job 41:4 Numquid feriet tecum pactum, et accipies eum servum sempiternum?(vulgate) 28 ׃40 הֲיִכְרֹ֣ת בְּרִ֣ית עִמָּ֑ךְ תִּ֝קָּחֶ֗נּוּ לְעֶ֣בֶד עוֹלָֽם׃ Job Job 41:4 Meinst du, daß er einen Bund mit dir machen werde, daß du ihn immer zum Knecht habest?(dhs) Job 41:4 Will he make a covenant with you? Will they divide him among the merchants?(nas) Job 41:6 ἐνσιτοῦνται δὲ ἐν αὐτῷ ἔθνη μεριτεύονται δὲ αὐτὸν φοινίκων γένη (lxx) Job 41:6 Concident eum amici? divident illum negotiatores?(vulgate) 30 ׃40 יִכְר֣וּ עָ֭לָיו חַבָּרִ֑ים יֶ֝חֱצ֗וּהוּ בֵּ֣ין כְּֽנַעֲנִֽים׃ Job Job 41:6 Meinst du die Genossen werden ihn zerschneiden, daß er unter die Kaufleute zerteilt wird?(dhs) Job 41:6 Will your companions make a banquet of him? Will they apportion him among the merchants?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:7 ============ Job 41:7 "Can you fill his skin with harpoons, Or his head with fishing spears?(nas) Job 41:7 πᾶν δὲ πλωτὸν συνελθὸν οὐ μὴ ἐνέγκωσιν βύρσαν μίαν οὐρᾶς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν πλοίοις ἁλιέων κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 41:7 Numquid implebis sagenas pelle ejus, et gurgustium piscium capite illius?(vulgate) 31 ׃40 הַֽתְמַלֵּ֣א בְשֻׂכּ֣וֹת עוֹר֑וֹ וּבְצִלְצַ֖ל דָּגִ֣ים רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃ Job Job 41:7 Kannst du mit Spießen füllen seine Haut und mit Fischerhaken seinen Kopf?(dhs) Job 41:7 Can you fill his skin with harpoons, Or his head with fishing spears?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:8 ============ Job 41:8 "Lay your hand on him; Remember the battle; you will not do it again!(nas) Job 41:8 ἐπιθήσεις δὲ αὐτῷ χεῖρα μνησθεὶς πόλεμον τὸν γινόμενον ἐν σώματι αὐτοῦ καὶ μηκέτι γινέσθω (lxx) Job 41:8 Pone super eum manum tuam: memento belli, nec ultra addas loqui.(vulgate) 32 ׃40 שִׂים־עָלָ֥יו כַּפֶּ֑ךָ זְכֹ֥ר מִ֝לְחָמָ֗ה אַל־תּוֹסַֽף׃ Job Job 41:8 Wenn du deine Hand an ihn legst, so gedenke, daß es ein Streit ist, den du nicht ausführen wirst.(dhs) Job 41:8 Lay your hand on him; Remember the battle-- Never do it again!(nkjv) ======= Job 41:9 ============ Job 41:9 "Behold, your expectation is false; Will you be laid low even at the sight of him?(nas) Job 41:9 οὐχ ἑόρακας αὐτὸν οὐδὲ ἐπὶ τοῖς λεγομένοις τεθαύμακας (lxx) Job 41:9 Ecce spes ejus frustrabitur eum, et videntibus cunctis præcipitabitur.](vulgate) 1 ׃41 הֵן־תֹּחַלְתּ֥וֹ נִכְזָ֑בָה הֲגַ֖ם אֶל־מַרְאָ֣יו יֻטָֽל׃ Job Job 41:9 Siehe, die Hoffnung wird jedem fehlen; schon wenn er seiner ansichtig wird, stürzt er zu Boden.(dhs) Job 41:9 Indeed, any hope of overcoming him is false; Shall one not be overwhelmed at the sight of him?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:10 ============ Job 41:10 "No one is so fierce that he dares to arouse him; Who then is he that can stand before Me?(nas) Job 41:10 οὐ δέδοικας ὅτι ἡτοίμασταί μοι τίς γάρ ἐστιν ὁ ἐμοὶ ἀντιστάς (lxx) Job 41:10 [Non quasi crudelis suscitabo eum: quis enim resistere potest vultui meo?(vulgate) 2 ׃41 לֹֽא־אַ֭כְזָר כִּ֣י יְעוּרֶ֑נּוּ וּמִ֥י ה֝֗וּא לְפָנַ֥י יִתְיַצָּֽב׃ Job Job 41:10 Niemand ist so kühn, daß er ihn reizen darf; wer ist denn, der vor mir stehen könnte?(dhs) Job 41:10 No one is so fierce that he would dare stir him up. Who then is able to stand against Me?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:11 ============ Job 41:11 "Who has given to Me that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.(nas) Job 41:11 ἢ τίς ἀντιστήσεταί μοι καὶ ὑπομενεῖ εἰ πᾶσα ἡ ὑπ᾽ οὐρανὸν ἐμή ἐστιν (lxx) Job 41:11 Quis ante dedit mihi, ut reddam ei? omnia quæ sub cælo sunt, mea sunt.(vulgate) 3 ׃41 מִ֣י הִ֭קְדִּימַנִי וַאֲשַׁלֵּ֑ם תַּ֖חַת כָּל־הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם לִי־הֽוּא׃ Job Job 41:11 Wer hat mir etwas zuvor getan, daß ich's ihm vergelte? Es ist mein, was unter allen Himmeln ist.(dhs) Job 41:11 Who has preceded Me, that I should pay him? Everything under heaven is Mine.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:12 ============ Job 41:12 "I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, Or his mighty strength, or his orderly frame.(nas) Job 41:12 οὐ σιωπήσομαι δι᾽ αὐτόν καὶ λόγον δυνάμεως ἐλεήσει τὸν ἴσον αὐτοῦ (lxx) Job 41:12 Non parcam ei, et verbis potentibus, et ad deprecandum compositis.(vulgate) 4 ׃41 *לא־**לֽוֹ־אַחֲרִ֥ישׁ בַּדָּ֑יו וּדְבַר־גְּ֝בוּר֗וֹת וְחִ֣ין עֶרְכּֽוֹ׃ Job Job 41:12 Dazu muß ich nun sagen, wie groß, wie mächtig und wohlgeschaffen er ist.(dhs) Job 41:12 "I will not conceal his limbs, His mighty power, or his graceful proportions.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:13 ============ Job 41:13 "Who can strip off his outer armor? Who can come within his double mail?(nas) Job 41:13 τίς ἀποκαλύψει πρόσωπον ἐνδύσεως αὐτοῦ εἰς δὲ πτύξιν θώρακος αὐτοῦ τίς ἂν εἰσέλθοι (lxx) Job 41:13 Quis revelabit faciem indumenti ejus? et in medium oris ejus quis intrabit?(vulgate) 5 ׃41 מִֽי־גִ֭לָּה פְּנֵ֣י לְבוּשׁ֑וֹ בְּכֶ֥פֶל רִ֝סְנ֗וֹ מִ֣י יָבֽוֹא׃ Job Job 41:13 Wer kann ihm sein Kleid aufdecken? und wer darf es wagen, ihm zwischen die Zähne zu greifen?(dhs) Job 41:13 Who can remove his outer coat? Who can approach him with a double bridle?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:14 ============ Job 41:14 "Who can open the doors of his face? Around his teeth there is terror.(nas) Job 41:14 πύλας προσώπου αὐτοῦ τίς ἀνοίξει κύκλῳ ὀδόντων αὐτοῦ φόβος (lxx) Job 41:14 Portas vultus ejus quis aperiet? per gyrum dentium ejus formido.(vulgate) 6 ׃41 דַּלְתֵ֣י פָ֭נָיו מִ֣י פִתֵּ֑חַ סְבִיב֖וֹת שִׁנָּ֣יו אֵימָֽה׃ Job Job 41:14 Wer kann die Kinnbacken seines Antlitzes auftun? Schrecklich stehen seine Zähne umher.(dhs) Job 41:14 Who can open the doors of his face, With his terrible teeth all around?(nkjv) ======= Job 41:15 ============ Job 41:15 "His strong scales are his pride, Shut up as with a tight seal.(nas) Job 41:15 τὰ ἔγκατα αὐτοῦ ἀσπίδες χάλκειαι σύνδεσμος δὲ αὐτοῦ ὥσπερ σμιρίτης λίθος (lxx) Job 41:15 Corpus illius quasi scuta fusilia, compactum squamis se prementibus.(vulgate) 7 ׃41 גַּ֭אֲוָה אֲפִיקֵ֣י מָֽגִנִּ֑ים סָ֝ג֗וּר חוֹתָ֥ם צָֽר׃ Job Job 41:15 Seine stolzen Schuppen sind wie feste Schilde, fest und eng ineinander.(dhs) Job 41:15 His rows of scales are his pride, Shut up tightly as with a seal;(nkjv) ======= Job 41:16 ============ Job 41:16 "One is so near to another That no air can come between them.(nas) Job 41:16 εἷς τοῦ ἑνὸς κολλῶνται πνεῦμα δὲ οὐ μὴ διέλθῃ αὐτόν (lxx) Job 41:16 Una uni conjungitur, et ne spiraculum quidem incedit per eas.(vulgate) 8 ׃41 אֶחָ֣ד בְּאֶחָ֣ד יִגַּ֑שׁוּ וְ֝ר֗וּחַ לֹא־יָב֥וֹא בֵֽינֵיהֶֽם׃ Job Job 41:16 Eine rührt an die andere, daß nicht ein Lüftlein dazwischengeht.(dhs) Job 41:16 One is so near another That no air can come between them;(nkjv) ======= Job 41:17 ============ Job 41:17 "They are joined one to another; They clasp each other and cannot be separated.(nas) Job 41:17 ἀνὴρ τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ προσκολληθήσεται συνέχονται καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποσπασθῶσιν (lxx) Job 41:17 Una alteri adhærebit, et tenentes se nequaquam separabuntur.(vulgate) 9 ׃41 אִישׁ־בְּאָחִ֥יהוּ יְדֻבָּ֑קוּ יִ֝תְלַכְּד֗וּ וְלֹ֣א יִתְפָּרָֽדוּ׃ Job Job 41:17 Es hängt eine an der andern, und halten zusammen, daß sie sich nicht voneinander trennen.(dhs) Job 41:17 They are joined one to another, They stick together and cannot be parted.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:18 ============ Job 41:18 "His sneezes flash forth light, And his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.(nas) Job 41:18 ἐν πταρμῷ αὐτοῦ ἐπιφαύσκεται φέγγος οἱ δὲ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ εἶδος ἑωσφόρου (lxx) Job 41:18 Sternutatio ejus splendor ignis, et oculi ejus ut palpebræ diluculi.(vulgate) 10 ׃41 עֲֽ֭טִישֹׁתָיו תָּ֣הֶל א֑וֹר וְ֝עֵינָ֗יו כְּעַפְעַפֵּי־שָֽׁחַר׃ Job Job 41:18 Sein Niesen glänzt wie ein Licht; seine Augen sind wie die Wimpern der Morgenröte.(dhs) Job 41:18 His sneezings flash forth light, And his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:19 ============ Job 41:19 "Out of his mouth go burning torches; Sparks of fire leap forth.(nas) Job 41:19 ἐκ στόματος αὐτοῦ ἐκπορεύονται λαμπάδες καιόμεναι καὶ διαρριπτοῦνται ἐσχάραι πυρός (lxx) Job 41:19 De ore ejus lampades procedunt, sicut tædæ ignis accensæ.(vulgate) 11 ׃41 מִ֭פִּיו לַפִּידִ֣ים יַהֲלֹ֑כוּ כִּיד֥וֹדֵי אֵ֝֗שׁ יִתְמַלָּֽטוּ׃ Job Job 41:19 Aus seinem Munde fahren Fackeln, und feurige Funken schießen heraus.(dhs) Job 41:19 Out of his mouth go burning lights; Sparks of fire shoot out.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:20 ============ Job 41:20 "Out of his nostrils smoke goes forth As from a boiling pot and burning rushes.(nas) Job 41:20 ἐκ μυκτήρων αὐτοῦ ἐκπορεύεται καπνὸς καμίνου καιομένης πυρὶ ἀνθράκων (lxx) Job 41:20 De naribus ejus procedit fumus, sicut ollæ succensæ atque ferventis.(vulgate) 12 ׃41 מִ֭נְּחִירָיו יֵצֵ֣א עָשָׁ֑ן כְּד֖וּד נָפ֣וּחַ וְאַגְמֹֽן׃ Job Job 41:20 Aus seiner Nase geht Rauch wie von heißen Töpfen und Kesseln.(dhs) Job 41:20 Smoke goes out of his nostrils, As from a boiling pot and burning rushes.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:21 ============ Job 41:21 "His breath kindles coals, And a flame goes forth from his mouth.(nas) Job 41:21 ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ ἄνθρακες φλὸξ δὲ ἐκ στόματος αὐτοῦ ἐκπορεύεται (lxx) Job 41:21 Halitus ejus prunas ardere facit, et flamma de ore ejus egreditur.(vulgate) 13 ׃41 נַ֭פְשׁוֹ גֶּחָלִ֣ים תְּלַהֵ֑ט וְ֝לַ֗הַב מִפִּ֥יו יֵצֵֽא׃ Job Job 41:21 Sein Odem ist wie eine lichte Lohe, und aus seinem Munde gehen Flammen.(dhs) Job 41:21 His breath kindles coals, And a flame goes out of his mouth.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:22 ============ Job 41:22 "In his neck lodges strength, And dismay leaps before him.(nas) Job 41:22 ἐν δὲ τραχήλῳ αὐτοῦ αὐλίζεται δύναμις ἔμπροσθεν αὐτοῦ τρέχει ἀπώλεια (lxx) Job 41:22 In collo ejus morabitur fortitudo, et faciem ejus præcedit egestas.(vulgate) 14 ׃41 בְּֽ֭צַוָּארוֹ יָלִ֣ין עֹ֑ז וּ֝לְפָנָ֗יו תָּד֥וּץ דְּאָבָֽה׃ Job Job 41:22 Auf seinem Hals wohnt die Stärke, und vor ihm her hüpft die Angst.(dhs) Job 41:22 Strength dwells in his neck, And sorrow dances before him.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:23 ============ Job 41:23 "The folds of his flesh are joined together, Firm on him and immovable.(nas) Job 41:23 σάρκες δὲ σώματος αὐτοῦ κεκόλληνται καταχέει ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν οὐ σαλευθήσεται (lxx) Job 41:23 Membra carnium ejus cohærentia sibi: mittet contra eum fulmina, et ad locum alium non ferentur.(vulgate) 15 ׃41 מַפְּלֵ֣י בְשָׂר֣וֹ דָבֵ֑קוּ יָצ֥וּק עָ֝לָ֗יו בַּל־יִמּֽוֹט׃ Job Job 41:23 Die Gliedmaßen seines Fleisches hangen aneinander und halten hart an ihm, daß er nicht zerfallen kann.(dhs) Job 41:23 The folds of his flesh are joined together; They are firm on him and cannot be moved.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:24 ============ Job 41:24 "His heart is as hard as a stone, Even as hard as a lower millstone.(nas) Job 41:24 ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ πέπηγεν ὡς λίθος ἕστηκεν δὲ ὥσπερ ἄκμων ἀνήλατος (lxx) Job 41:24 Cor ejus indurabitur tamquam lapis, et stringetur quasi malleatoris incus.(vulgate) 16 ׃41 לִ֭בּוֹ יָצ֣וּק כְּמוֹ־אָ֑בֶן וְ֝יָצ֗וּק כְּפֶ֣לַח תַּחְתִּֽית׃ Job Job 41:24 Sein Herz ist so hart wie ein Stein und so fest wie ein unterer Mühlstein.(dhs) Job 41:24 His heart is as hard as stone, Even as hard as the lower millstone.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:25 ============ Job 41:25 "When he raises himself up, the mighty fear; Because of the crashing they are bewildered.(nas) Job 41:25 στραφέντος δὲ αὐτοῦ φόβος θηρίοις τετράποσιν ἐπὶ γῆς ἁλλομένοις (lxx) Job 41:25 Cum sublatus fuerit, timebunt angeli, et territi purgabuntur.(vulgate) 17 ׃41 מִ֭שֵּׂתוֹ יָג֣וּרוּ אֵלִ֑ים מִ֝שְּׁבָרִ֗ים יִתְחַטָּֽאוּ׃ Job Job 41:25 Wenn er sich erhebt, so entsetzen sich die Starken; und wenn er daherbricht, so ist keine Gnade da.(dhs) Job 41:25 When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid; Because of his crashings they are beside themselves.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:26 ============ Job 41:26 "The sword that reaches him cannot avail, Nor the spear, the dart or the javelin.(nas) Job 41:26 ἐὰν συναντήσωσιν αὐτῷ λόγχαι οὐδὲν μὴ ποιήσωσιν δόρυ ἐπηρμένον καὶ θώρακα (lxx) Job 41:26 Cum apprehenderit eum gladius, subsistere non poterit, neque hasta, neque thorax:(vulgate) 18 ׃41 מַשִּׂיגֵ֣הוּ חֶ֭רֶב בְּלִ֣י תָק֑וּם חֲנִ֖ית מַסָּ֣ע וְשִׁרְיָֽה׃ Job Job 41:26 Wenn man zu ihm will mit dem Schwert, so regt er sich nicht, oder mit Spieß, Geschoß und Panzer.(dhs) Job 41:26 Though the sword reaches him, it cannot avail; Nor does spear, dart, or javelin.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:27 ============ Job 41:27 "He regards iron as straw, Bronze as rotten wood.(nas) Job 41:27 ἥγηται μὲν γὰρ σίδηρον ἄχυρα χαλκὸν δὲ ὥσπερ ξύλον σαθρόν (lxx) Job 41:27 reputabit enim quasi paleas ferrum, et quasi lignum putridum æs.(vulgate) 19 ׃41 יַחְשֹׁ֣ב לְתֶ֣בֶן בַּרְזֶ֑ל לְעֵ֖ץ רִקָּב֣וֹן נְחוּשָֽׁה׃ Job Job 41:27 Er achtet Eisen wie Stroh, und Erz wie faules Holz.(dhs) Job 41:27 He regards iron as straw, And bronze as rotten wood.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:28 ============ Job 41:28 "The arrow cannot make him flee; Slingstones are turned into stubble for him.(nas) Job 41:28 οὐ μὴ τρώσῃ αὐτὸν τόξον χάλκειον ἥγηται μὲν πετροβόλον χόρτον (lxx) Job 41:28 Non fugabit eum vir sagittarius: in stipulam versi sunt ei lapides fundæ.(vulgate) 20 ׃41 לֹֽא־יַבְרִיחֶ֥נּוּ בֶן־קָ֑שֶׁת לְ֝קַ֗שׁ נֶהְפְּכוּ־ל֥וֹ אַבְנֵי־קָֽלַע׃ Job Job 41:28 Kein Pfeil wird ihn verjagen; die Schleudersteine sind ihm wie Stoppeln.(dhs) Job 41:28 The arrow cannot make him flee; Slingstones become like stubble to him.(nkjv) ======= Job 41:29 ============ Job 41:29 "Clubs are regarded as stubble; He laughs at the rattling of the javelin.(nas) Job 41:29 ὡς καλάμη ἐλογίσθησαν σφῦραι καταγελᾷ δὲ σεισμοῦ πυρφόρου (lxx) Job 41:29 Quasi stipulam æstimabit malleum, et deridebit vibrantem hastam.(vulgate) 21 ׃41 כְּ֭קַשׁ נֶחְשְׁב֣וּ תוֹתָ֑ח וְ֝יִשְׂחַ֗ק לְרַ֣עַשׁ כִּידֽוֹן׃ Job Job 41:29 Die Keule achtet er wie Stoppeln;
