super argentum et aurum gratia bona.(vulgate) 1 ׃22 נִבְחָ֣ר שֵׁ֭ם מֵעֹ֣שֶׁר רָ֑ב מִכֶּ֥סֶף וּ֝מִזָּהָ֗ב חֵ֣ן טֽוֹב׃ Proverbs Pro 22:1 Ein guter Ruf ist köstlicher denn großer Reichtum, und Gunst besser denn Silber und Gold.(dhs) Pro 22:1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, Loving favor rather than silver and gold.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:2 ============ Pro 22:2 The rich and the poor have a common bond, The Lord is the maker of them all.(nas) Pro 22:2 πλούσιος καὶ πτωχὸς συνήντησαν ἀλλήλοις ἀμφοτέρους δὲ ὁ κύριος ἐποίησεν (lxx) Pro 22:2 Dives et pauper obviaverunt sibi: utriusque operator est Dominus.(vulgate) 2 ׃22 עָשִׁ֣יר וָרָ֣שׁ נִפְגָּ֑שׁוּ עֹשֵׂ֖ה כֻלָּ֣ם יְהוָֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 22:2 Reiche und Arme müssen untereinander sein; der HERR hat sie alle gemacht.(dhs) Pro 22:2 The rich and the poor have this in common, The Lord is the maker of them all.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:3 ============ Pro 22:3 The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, But the naive go on, and are punished for it.(nas) Pro 22:3 πανοῦργος ἰδὼν πονηρὸν τιμωρούμενον κραταιῶς αὐτὸς παιδεύεται οἱ δὲ ἄφρονες παρελθόντες ἐζημιώθησαν (lxx) Pro 22:3 Callidus vidit malum, et abscondit se; innocens pertransiit, et afflictus est damno.(vulgate) 3 ׃22 עָר֤וּם ׀ רָאָ֣ה רָעָ֣ה *ויסתר **וְנִסְתָּ֑ר וּ֝פְתָיִ֗ים עָבְר֥וּ וְֽנֶעֱנָֽשׁוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 22:3 Der Kluge sieht das Unglück und verbirgt sich; He who guards himself will be far from them.(nas) Pro 22:5 τρίβολοι καὶ παγίδες ἐν ὁδοῖς σκολιαῖς ὁ δὲ φυλάσσων τὴν ἑαυτοῦ ψυχὴν ἀφέξεται αὐτῶν (lxx) Pro 22:5 Arma et gladii in via perversi; custos autem animæ suæ longe recedit ab eis.(vulgate) 5 ׃22 צִנִּ֣ים פַּ֭חִים בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ עִקֵּ֑שׁ שׁוֹמֵ֥ר נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ יִרְחַ֥ק מֵהֶֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 22:5 Stachel und Stricke sind auf dem Wege des Verkehrten; etiam cum senuerit, non recedet ab ea.(vulgate) 6 ׃22 חֲנֹ֣ךְ לַ֭נַּעַר עַל־פִּ֣י דַרְכּ֑וֹ גַּ֥ם כִּֽי־יַ֝זְקִ֗ין לֹֽא־יָס֥וּר מִמֶּֽנָּה׃ Proverbs Pro 22:6 Wie man einen Knaben gewöhnt, so läßt er nicht davon, wenn er alt wird.(dhs) Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:7 ============ Pro 22:7 The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender's slave.(nas) Pro 22:7 πλούσιοι πτωχῶν ἄρξουσιν καὶ οἰκέται ἰδίοις δεσπόταις δανιοῦσιν (lxx) Pro 22:7 Dives pauperibus imperat, et qui accipit mutuum servus est fœnerantis.(vulgate) 7 ׃22 עָ֭שִׁיר בְּרָשִׁ֣ים יִמְשׁ֑וֹל וְעֶ֥בֶד לֹ֝וֶ֗ה לְאִ֣ישׁ מַלְוֽ͏ֶה׃ Proverbs Pro 22:7 Der Reiche herrscht über die Armen; und wer borgt, ist des Leihers Knecht.(dhs) Pro 22:7 The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:8 ============ Pro 22:8 He who sows iniquity will reap vanity, And the rod of his fury will perish.(nas) Pro 22:8 ὁ σπείρων φαῦλα θερίσει κακά πληγὴν δὲ ἔργων αὐτοῦ συντελέσει Pro 22:8 Qui seminat iniquitatem metet mala, et virga iræ suæ consummabitur.(vulgate) 8 ׃22 זוֹרֵ֣עַ עַ֭וְלָה *יקצור־**יִקְצָר־אָ֑וֶן וְשֵׁ֖בֶט עֶבְרָת֣וֹ יִכְלֶֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 22:8 Wer Unrecht sät, der wird Mühsal ernten und wird durch die Rute seiner Bosheit umkommen.(dhs) Pro 22:8 He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow, And the rod of his anger will fail.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:9 ============ Pro 22:9 He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor.(nas) Pro 22:9 ὁ ἐλεῶν πτωχὸν αὐτὸς διατραφήσεται τῶν γὰρ ἑαυτοῦ ἄρτων ἔδωκεν τῷ πτωχῷ Pro 22:9 Qui pronus est ad misericordiam benedicetur: de panibus enim suis dedit pauperi. Victoriam et honorem acquiret qui dat munera; animam autem aufert accipientium.(vulgate) 9 ׃22 טֽוֹב־עַ֭יִן ה֣וּא יְבֹרָ֑ךְ כִּֽי־נָתַ֖ן מִלַּחְמ֣וֹ לַדָּֽל׃ Proverbs Pro 22:9 Ein gütiges Auge wird gesegnet; denn er gibt von seinem Brot den Armen.(dhs) Pro 22:9 He who has a generous eye will be blessed, For he gives of his bread to the poor.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:10 ============ Pro 22:10 Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out, Even strife and dishonor will cease.(nas) Pro 22:10 ἔκβαλε ἐκ συνεδρίου λοιμόν καὶ συνεξελεύσεται αὐτῷ νεῖκος ὅταν γὰρ καθίσῃ ἐν συνεδρίῳ πάντας ἀτιμάζει (lxx) Pro 22:10 Ejice derisorem, et exibit cum eo jurgium, cessabuntque causæ et contumeliæ.(vulgate) 10 ׃22 גָּ֣רֵֽשׁ לֵ֭ץ וְיֵצֵ֣א מָד֑וֹן וְ֝יִשְׁבֹּ֗ת דִּ֣ין וְקָלֽוֹן׃ Proverbs Pro 22:10 Treibe den Spötter aus, so geht der Zank weg, so hört auf Hader und Schmähung.(dhs) Pro 22:10 Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; Yes, strife and reproach will cease.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:11 ============ Pro 22:11 He who loves purity of heart And whose speech is gracious, the king is his friend.(nas) Pro 22:11 ἀγαπᾷ κύριος ὁσίας καρδίας δεκτοὶ δὲ αὐτῷ πάντες ἄμωμοι χείλεσιν ποιμαίνει βασιλεύς (lxx) Pro 22:11 Qui diligit cordis munditiam, propter gratiam labiorum suorum habebit amicum regem.(vulgate) 11 ׃22 אֹהֵ֥ב *טהור־**טְהָר־לֵ֑ב חֵ֥ן שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו רֵעֵ֥הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ׃ Proverbs Pro 22:11 Wer ein treues Herz und liebliche Rede hat, des Freund ist der König.(dhs) Pro 22:11 He who loves purity of heart And has grace on his lips, The king will be his friend.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:12 ============ Pro 22:12 The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, But He overthrows the words of the treacherous man.(nas) Pro 22:12 οἱ δὲ ὀφθαλμοὶ κυρίου διατηροῦσιν αἴσθησιν φαυλίζει δὲ λόγους παράνομος (lxx) Pro 22:12 Oculi Domini custodiunt scientiam, et supplantantur verba iniqui.(vulgate) 12 ׃22 עֵינֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה נָ֣צְרוּ דָ֑עַת וַ֝יְסַלֵּ֗ף דִּבְרֵ֥י בֹגֵֽד׃ Proverbs Pro 22:12 Die Augen des HERRN behüten guten Rat; aber die Worte des Verächters verkehrt er.(dhs) Pro 22:12 The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, But He overthrows the words of the faithless.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:13 ============ Pro 22:13 The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside; I will be killed in the streets!"(nas) Pro 22:13 προφασίζεται καὶ λέγει ὀκνηρός λέων ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς ἐν δὲ ταῖς πλατείαις φονευταί (lxx) Pro 22:13 Dicit piger: Leo est foris; in medio platearum occidendus sum.(vulgate) 13 ׃22 אָמַ֣ר עָ֭צֵל אֲרִ֣י בַח֑וּץ בְּת֥וֹךְ רְ֝חֹב֗וֹת אֵֽרָצֵֽחַ׃ Proverbs Pro 22:13 Der Faule spricht: Es ist ein Löwe draußen, ich möchte erwürgt werden auf der Gasse.(dhs) Pro 22:13 The lazy man says, "There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!"(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:14 ============ Pro 22:14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; He who is cursed of the Lord will fall into it.(nas) Pro 22:14 βόθρος βαθὺς στόμα παρανόμου ὁ δὲ μισηθεὶς ὑπὸ κυρίου ἐμπεσεῖται εἰς αὐτόν Pro 22:14 Fovea profunda os alienæ: cui iratus est Dominus, incidet in eam.(vulgate) 14 ׃22 שׁוּחָ֣ה עֲ֭מֻקָּה פִּ֣י זָר֑וֹת זְע֥וּם יְ֝הוָ֗ה *יפול־**יִפָּל־שָֽׁם׃ Proverbs Pro 22:14 Der Huren Mund ist eine Tiefe Grube; wem der HERR ungnädig ist, der fällt hinein.(dhs) Pro 22:14 The mouth of an immoral woman is a deep pit; He who is abhorred by the Lord will fall there.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:15 ============ Pro 22:15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him.(nas) Pro 22:15 ἄνοια ἐξῆπται καρδίας νέου ῥάβδος δὲ καὶ παιδεία μακρὰν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Pro 22:15 Stultitia colligata est in corde pueri, et virga disciplinæ fugabit eam.(vulgate) 15 ׃22 אִ֭וֶּלֶת קְשׁוּרָ֣ה בְלֶב־נָ֑עַר שֵׁ֥בֶט מ֝וּסָ֗ר יַרְחִיקֶ֥נָּה מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 22:15 Torheit steckt dem Knaben im Herzen; aber die Rute der Zucht wird sie fern von ihm treiben.(dhs) Pro 22:15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:16 ============ Pro 22:16 He who oppresses the poor to make more for himself Or who gives to the rich, will only come to poverty.(nas) Pro 22:16 ὁ συκοφαντῶν πένητα πολλὰ ποιεῖ τὰ ἑαυτοῦ δίδωσιν δὲ πλουσίῳ ἐπ᾽ ἐλάσσονι (lxx) Pro 22:16 Qui calumniatur pauperem ut augeat divitias suas, dabit ipse ditiori, et egebit.]~(vulgate) 16 ׃22 עֹ֣שֵֽׁק דָּ֭ל לְהַרְבּ֣וֹת ל֑וֹ נֹתֵ֥ן לְ֝עָשִׁ֗יר אַךְ־לְמַחְסֽוֹר׃ Proverbs Pro 22:16 Wer dem Armen Unrecht tut, daß seines Guts viel werde, der wird auch einem Reichen geben, und Mangel haben.(dhs) Pro 22:16 He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, And he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:17 ============ Pro 22:17 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your mind to my knowledge;(nas) Pro 22:17 λόγοις σοφῶν παράβαλλε σὸν οὖς καὶ ἄκουε ἐμὸν λόγον τὴν δὲ σὴν καρδίαν ἐπίστησον ἵνα γνῷς ὅτι καλοί εἰσιν (lxx) Pro 22:17 [Inclina aurem tuam, et audi verba sapientium: appone autem cor ad doctrinam meam,(vulgate) 17 ׃22 הַ֥ט אָזְנְךָ֗ וּ֖[d]שְׁמַע דִּבְרֵ֣י חֲכָמִ֑ים וְ֝לִבְּךָ֗ תָּשִׁ֥ית לְדַעְתִּֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 22:17 Neige deine Ohren und höre die Worte der Weisen und nimm zu Herzen meine Lehre.(dhs) Pro 22:17 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, And apply your heart to my knowledge;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:18 ============ Pro 22:18 For it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, That they may be ready on your lips.(nas) Pro 22:18 καὶ ἐὰν ἐμβάλῃς αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν καρδίαν σου εὐφρανοῦσίν σε ἅμα ἐπὶ σοῖς χείλεσιν (lxx) Pro 22:18 quæ pulchra erit tibi cum servaveris eam in ventre tuo, et redundabit in labiis tuis:(vulgate) 18 ׃22 כִּֽי־נָ֭עִים כִּֽי־תִשְׁמְרֵ֣ם בְּבִטְנֶ֑ךָ יִכֹּ֥נוּ יַ֝חְדָּ֗ו עַל־שְׂפָתֶֽיךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 22:18 Denn es wird dir sanft tun, wo du sie wirst im Sinne behalten und sie werden miteinander durch deinen Mund wohl geraten.(dhs) Pro 22:18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; Let them all be fixed upon your lips,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:19 ============ Pro 22:19 So that your trust may be in the Lord, I have taught you today, even you.(nas) Pro 22:19 ἵνα σου γένηται ἐπὶ κύριον ἡ ἐλπὶς καὶ γνωρίσῃ σοι τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ (lxx) Pro 22:19 ut sit in Domino fiducia tua, unde et ostendi eam tibi hodie.(vulgate) 19 ׃22 לִהְי֣וֹת בַּ֭יהוָה מִבְטַחֶ֑ךָ הוֹדַעְתִּ֖יךָ הַיּ֣וֹם אַף־אָֽתָּה׃ Proverbs Pro 22:19 Daß deine Hoffnung sei auf den HERRN, erinnere ich dich an solches heute dir zugut.(dhs) Pro 22:19 So that your trust may be in the Lord; I have instructed you today, even you.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:20 ============ Pro 22:20 Have I not written to you excellent things Of counsels and knowledge,(nas) Pro 22:20 καὶ σὺ δὲ ἀπόγραψαι αὐτὰ σεαυτῷ τρισσῶς εἰς βουλὴν καὶ γνῶσιν ἐπὶ τὸ πλάτος τῆς καρδίας σου (lxx) Pro 22:20 Ecce descripsi eam tibi tripliciter, in cogitationibus et scientia:(vulgate) 20 ׃22 הֲלֹ֤א כָתַ֣בְתִּי לְ֭ךָ *שלשום **שָׁלִישִׁ֑ים בְּמ֖וֹעֵצֹ֣ת וָדָֽעַת׃ Proverbs Pro 22:20 Habe ich dir's nicht mannigfaltig vorgeschrieben mit Rat und Lehren,(dhs) Pro 22:20 Have I not written to you excellent things Of counsels and knowledge,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:21 ============ Pro 22:21 To make you know the certainty of the words of truth That you may correctly answer him who sent you?(nas) Pro 22:21 διδάσκω οὖν σε ἀληθῆ λόγον καὶ γνῶσιν ἀγαθὴν ὑπακούειν τοῦ ἀποκρίνεσθαι λόγους ἀληθείας τοῖς προβαλλομένοις σοι (lxx) Pro 22:21 ut ostenderem tibi firmitatem et eloquia veritatis, respondere ex his illis qui miserunt te.(vulgate) 21 ׃22 לְהוֹדִֽיעֲךָ֗ קֹ֭שְׁטְ אִמְרֵ֣י אֱמֶ֑ת לְהָשִׁ֥יב אֲמָרִ֥ים אֱ֝מֶ֗ת לְשֹׁלְחֶֽיךָ׃ פ Proverbs Pro 22:21 daß ich dir zeigte einen gewissen Grund der Wahrheit, daß du recht antworten könntest denen, die dich senden?(dhs) Pro 22:21 That I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth, That you may answer words of truth To those who send to you?(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:22 ============ Pro 22:22 Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Or crush the afflicted at the gate;(nas) Pro 22:22 μὴ ἀποβιάζου πένητα πτωχὸς γάρ ἐστιν καὶ μὴ ἀτιμάσῃς ἀσθενῆ ἐν πύλαις (lxx) Pro 22:22 Non facias violentiam pauperi quia pauper est, neque conteras egenum in porta:(vulgate) 22 ׃22 אַֽל־תִּגְזָל־דָּ֭ל כִּ֣י דַל־ה֑וּא וְאַל־תְּדַכֵּ֖א עָנִ֣י בַשָּֽׁעַר׃ Proverbs Pro 22:22 Beraube den Armen nicht, ob er wohl arm ist, und unterdrücke den Elenden nicht im Tor.(dhs) Pro 22:22 Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:23 ============ Pro 22:23 For the Lord will plead their case And take the life of those who rob them.(nas) Pro 22:23 ὁ γὰρ κύριος κρινεῖ αὐτοῦ τὴν κρίσιν καὶ ῥύσῃ σὴν ἄσυλον ψυχήν (lxx) Pro 22:23 quia judicabit Dominus causam ejus, et configet eos qui confixerunt animam ejus.(vulgate) 23 ׃22 כִּֽי־יְ֭הוָה יָרִ֣יב רִיבָ֑ם וְקָבַ֖ע אֶת־קֹבְעֵיהֶ֣ם נָֽפֶשׁ׃ Proverbs Pro 22:23 Denn der HERR wird ihre Sache führen und wird ihre Untertreter untertreten.(dhs) Pro 22:23 For the Lord will plead their cause, And plunder the soul of those who plunder them.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 22:24 ============ Pro 22:24 Do not associate with a man given to anger;
