Today's Date: 4/9/2025 ======= Proverbs 18:1 ============ Pro 18:1 He who separates himself seeks his own desire, He quarrels against all sound wisdom.(nas) Pro 18:1 προφάσεις ζητεῖ ἀνὴρ βουλόμενος χωρίζεσθαι ἀπὸ φίλων ἐν παντὶ δὲ καιρῷ ἐπονείδιστος ἔσται (lxx) Pro 18:1 [Occasiones quærit qui vult recedere ab amico: omni tempore erit exprobrabilis.(vulgate) 1 ׃18 לְֽ֭תַאֲוָה יְבַקֵּ֣שׁ נִפְרָ֑ד בְּכָל־תּ֝וּשִׁיָּ֗ה יִתְגַּלָּֽע׃ Proverbs Pro 18:1 Wer sich absondert, der sucht, was ihn gelüstet, und setzt sich wider alles, was gut ist.(dhs) Pro 18:1 A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:2 ============ Pro 18:2 A fool does not delight in understanding, But only in revealing his own mind.(nas) Pro 18:2 οὐ χρείαν ἔχει σοφίας ἐνδεὴς φρενῶν μᾶλλον γὰρ ἄγεται ἀφροσύνῃ (lxx) Pro 18:2 Non recipit stultus verba prudentiæ, nisi ea dixeris quæ versantur in corde ejus.(vulgate) 2 ׃18 לֹֽא־יַחְפֹּ֣ץ כְּ֭סִיל בִּתְבוּנָ֑ה כִּ֝֗י אִֽם־בְּהִתְגַּלּ֥וֹת לִבּֽוֹ׃ Proverbs Pro 18:2 Ein Narr hat nicht Lust am Verstand, sondern kundzutun, was in seinem Herzen steckt.(dhs) Pro 18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:3 ============ Pro 18:3 When a wicked man comes, contempt also comes, And with dishonor comes scorn.(nas) Pro 18:3 ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἀσεβὴς εἰς βάθος κακῶν καταφρονεῖ ἐπέρχεται δὲ αὐτῷ ἀτιμία καὶ ὄνειδος (lxx) Pro 18:3 Impius, cum in profundum venerit peccatorum, contemnit; sed sequitur eum ignominia et opprobrium.(vulgate) 3 ׃18 בְּֽבוֹא־רָ֭שָׁע בָּ֣א גַם־בּ֑וּז וְֽעִם־קָל֥וֹן חֶרְפָּֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 18:3 Wo der Gottlose hin kommt, da kommt Verachtung und Schmach mit Hohn.(dhs) Pro 18:3 When the wicked comes, contempt comes also; And with dishonor comes reproach.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:4 ============ Pro 18:4 The words of a man's mouth are deep waters; The fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.(nas) Pro 18:4 ὕδωρ βαθὺ λόγος ἐν καρδίᾳ ἀνδρός ποταμὸς δὲ ἀναπηδύει καὶ πηγὴ ζωῆς (lxx) Pro 18:4 Aqua profunda verba ex ore viri, et torrens redundans fons sapientiæ.(vulgate) 4 ׃18 מַ֣יִם עֲ֭מֻקִּים דִּבְרֵ֣י פִי־אִ֑ישׁ נַ֥חַל נֹ֝בֵ֗עַ מְק֣וֹר חָכְמָֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 18:4 Die Worte in eines Mannes Munde sind wie tiefe Wasser, und die Quelle der Weisheit ist ein voller Strom.(dhs) Pro 18:4 The words of a man's mouth are deep waters; The wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:5 ============ Pro 18:5 To show partiality to the wicked is not good, Nor to thrust aside the righteous in judgment.(nas) Pro 18:5 θαυμάσαι πρόσωπον ἀσεβοῦς οὐ καλόν οὐδὲ ὅσιον ἐκκλίνειν τὸ δίκαιον ἐν κρίσει (lxx) Pro 18:5 Accipere personam impii non est bonum, ut declines a veritate judicii.]~(vulgate) 5 ׃18 שְׂאֵ֣ת פְּנֵי־רָשָׁ֣ע לֹא־ט֑וֹב לְהַטּ֥וֹת צַ֝דִּ֗יק בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ Proverbs Pro 18:5 Es ist nicht gut, die Person des Gottlosen achten, zu beugen den Gerechten im Gericht.(dhs) Pro 18:5 It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, Or to overthrow the righteous in judgment.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:6 ============ Pro 18:6 A fool's lips bring strife, And his mouth calls for blows.(nas) Pro 18:6 χείλη ἄφρονος ἄγουσιν αὐτὸν εἰς κακά τὸ δὲ στόμα αὐτοῦ τὸ θρασὺ θάνατον ἐπικαλεῖται (lxx) Pro 18:6 [Labia stulti miscent se rixis, et os ejus jurgia provocat.(vulgate) 6 ׃18 שִׂפְתֵ֣י כְ֭סִיל יָבֹ֣אֽוּ בְרִ֑יב וּ֝פִ֗יו לְֽמַהֲלֻמ֥וֹת יִקְרָֽא׃ Proverbs Pro 18:6 Die Lippen des Narren bringen Zank, und sein Mund ringt nach Schlägen.(dhs) Pro 18:6 A fool's lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:7 ============ Pro 18:7 A fool's mouth is his ruin, And his lips are the snare of his soul.(nas) Pro 18:7 στόμα ἄφρονος συντριβὴ αὐτῷ τὰ δὲ χείλη αὐτοῦ παγὶς τῇ ψυχῇ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Pro 18:7 Os stulti contritio ejus, et labia ipsius ruina animæ ejus.(vulgate) 7 ׃18 פִּֽי־כְ֭סִיל מְחִתָּה־ל֑וֹ וּ֝שְׂפָתָ֗יו מוֹקֵ֥שׁ נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ Proverbs Pro 18:7 Der Mund des Narren schadet ihm selbst, und seine Lippen fangen seine eigene Seele.(dhs) Pro 18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:8 ============ Pro 18:8 The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.(nas) Pro 18:8 ὀκνηροὺς καταβάλλει φόβος ψυχαὶ δὲ ἀνδρογύνων πεινάσουσιν (lxx) Pro 18:8 Verba bilinguis quasi simplicia, et ipsa perveniunt usque ad interiora ventris. Pigrum dejicit timor; animæ autem effeminatorum esurient.(vulgate) 8 ׃18 דִּבְרֵ֣י נִ֭רְגָּן כְּמִֽתְלַהֲמִ֑ים וְ֝הֵ֗ם יָרְד֥וּ חַדְרֵי־בָֽטֶן׃ Proverbs Pro 18:8 Die Worte des Verleumders sind Schläge und gehen einem durchs Herz.(dhs) Pro 18:8 The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, And they go down into the inmost body.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:9 ============ Pro 18:9 He also who is slack in his work Is brother to him who destroys.(nas) Pro 18:9 ὁ μὴ ἰώμενος ἑαυτὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις αὐτοῦ ἀδελφός ἐστιν τοῦ λυμαινομένου ἑαυτόν (lxx) Pro 18:9 Qui mollis et dissolutus est in opere suo frater est sua opera dissipantis.(vulgate) 9 ׃18 גַּ֭ם מִתְרַפֶּ֣ה בִמְלַאכְתּ֑וֹ אָ֥ח ה֝֗וּא לְבַ֣עַל מַשְׁחִֽית׃ Proverbs Pro 18:9 Wer lässig ist in seiner Arbeit, der ist ein Bruder des, der das Seine umbringt.(dhs) Pro 18:9 He who is slothful in his work Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:10 ============ Pro 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.(nas) Pro 18:10 ἐκ μεγαλωσύνης ἰσχύος ὄνομα κυρίου αὐτῷ δὲ προσδραμόντες δίκαιοι ὑψοῦνται (lxx) Pro 18:10 Turris fortissima nomen Domini; ad ipsum currit justus, et exaltabitur.(vulgate) 10 ׃18 מִגְדַּל־עֹ֭ז שֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה בּֽוֹ־יָר֖וּץ צַדִּ֣יק וְנִשְׂגָּֽב׃ Proverbs Pro 18:10 Der Name des HERRN ist ein festes Schloß; der Gerechte läuft dahin und wird beschirmt.(dhs) Pro 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:11 ============ Pro 18:11 A rich man's wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination.(nas) Pro 18:11 ὕπαρξις πλουσίου ἀνδρὸς πόλις ὀχυρά ἡ δὲ δόξα αὐτῆς μέγα ἐπισκιάζει (lxx) Pro 18:11 Substantia divitis urbs roboris ejus, et quasi murus validus circumdans eum.(vulgate) 11 ׃18 ה֣וֹן עָ֭שִׁיר קִרְיַ֣ת עֻזּ֑וֹ וּכְחוֹמָ֥ה נִ֝שְׂגָּבָ֗ה בְּמַשְׂכִּיתֽוֹ׃ Proverbs Pro 18:11 Das Gut des Reichen ist ihm eine feste Stadt und wie hohe Mauern in seinem Dünkel.(dhs) Pro 18:11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:12 ============ Pro 18:12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, But humility goes before honor.(nas) Pro 18:12 πρὸ συντριβῆς ὑψοῦται καρδία ἀνδρός καὶ πρὸ δόξης ταπεινοῦται (lxx) Pro 18:12 Antequam conteratur, exaltatur cor hominis, et antequam glorificetur, humiliatur.(vulgate) 12 ׃18 לִפְנֵי־שֶׁ֭בֶר יִגְבַּ֣הּ לֵ[t]ב־אִ֑ישׁ וְלִפְנֵ֖י כָב֣וֹד עֲנָוֽ͏ָה׃ Proverbs Pro 18:12 Wenn einer zu Grunde gehen soll, wird sein Herz zuvor stolz; spiritum vero ad irascendum facilem quis poterit sustinere?(vulgate) 14 ׃18 רֽוּחַ־אִ֭ישׁ יְכַלְכֵּ֣ל מַחֲלֵ֑הוּ וְר֥וּחַ נְ֝כֵאָ֗ה מִ֣י יִשָּׂאֶֽנָּה׃ Proverbs Pro 18:14 Wer ein fröhlich Herz hat, der weiß sich in seinem Leiden zu halten; qui diligunt eam comedent fructus ejus.(vulgate) 21 ׃18 מָ֣וֶת וְ֭חַיִּים בְּיַד־לָשׁ֑וֹן וְ֝אֹהֲבֶ֗יהָ יֹאכַ֥ל פִּרְיָֽהּ׃ Proverbs Pro 18:21 Tod und Leben steht in der Zunge Gewalt; wer sie liebt, der wird von ihrer Frucht essen.(dhs) Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 18:22 ============ Pro 18:22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the Lord.(nas) Pro 18:22 ὃς εὗρεν γυναῖκα ἀγαθήν εὗρεν χάριτας ἔλαβεν δὲ παρὰ θεοῦ ἱλαρότητα Pro 18:22 Qui invenit mulierem bonam invenit bonum, et hauriet jucunditatem a Domino.
