Give ear to my prayer, O God, And do not hide Yourself from my supplication.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:2 ============ Psa 55:2 Give heed to me and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and am surely distracted,(nas) Psa 55:2 ἐνώτισαι ὁ θεός τὴν προσευχὴν μου καὶ μὴ ὑπερίδῃς τὴν δέησίν μου (lxx) Psa 55:2 [Vulgate 54:3] adtende mihi et exaudi me humiliatus sum in meditatione mea et conturbatus(vulgate) 3 ׃55 הַקְשִׁ֣יבָה לִּ֣י וַעֲנֵ֑נִי אָרִ֖יד בְּשִׂיחִ֣י וְאָהִֽימָה׃ Psalms Psa 55:2 Merke auf mich und erhöre mich, wie ich so kläglich zage und heule,(dhs) Psa 55:2 Attend to me, and hear me; I am restless in my complaint, and moan noisily,(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:3 ============ Psa 55:3 Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the pressure of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me And in anger they bear a grudge against me.(nas) Psa 55:3 πρόσχες μοι καὶ εἰσάκουσόν μου ἐλυπήθην ἐν τῇ ἀδολεσχίᾳ μου καὶ ἐταράχθην (lxx) Psa 55:3 [Vulgate 54:4] a voce inimici a facie persequentis impii quoniam proiecerunt super me iniquitatem et in furore adversabantur mihi(vulgate) 4 ׃55 מִקּ֤וֹל אוֹיֵ֗ב מִפְּנֵ֣י עָקַ֣ת רָשָׁ֑ע כִּי־יָמִ֥יטוּ עָלַ֥י אָ֝֗וֶן וּבְאַ֥ף יִשְׂטְמֽוּנִי׃ Psalms Psa 55:3 daß der Feind so schreit und der Gottlose drängt; denn sie wollen mir eine Tücke beweisen und sind mir heftig gram.(dhs) Psa 55:3 Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked; For they bring down trouble upon me, And in wrath they hate me.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:4 ============ Psa 55:4 My heart is in anguish within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me.(nas) Psa 55:4 ἀπὸ φωνῆς ἐχθροῦ καὶ ἀπὸ θλίψεως ἁμαρτωλοῦ ὅτι ἐξέκλιναν ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἀνομίαν καὶ ἐν ὀργῇ ἐνεκότουν μοι (lxx) Psa 55:4 [Vulgate 54:5] cor meum doluit in vitalibus meis et terrores mortis ceciderunt super me(vulgate) 5 ׃55 לִ֭בִּי יָחִ֣יל בְּקִרְבִּ֑י וְאֵימ֥וֹת מָ֝֗וֶת נָפְל֥וּ עָלָֽי׃ Psalms Psa 55:4 Mein Herz ängstet sich in meinem Leibe, und des Todes Furcht ist auf mich gefallen.(dhs) Psa 55:4 My heart is severely pained within me, And the terrors of death have fallen upon me.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:5 ============ Psa 55:5 Fear and trembling come upon me, And horror has overwhelmed me.(nas) Psa 55:5 ἡ καρδία μου ἐταράχθη ἐν ἐμοί καὶ δειλία θανάτου ἐπέπεσεν ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ (lxx) Psa 55:5 [Vulgate 54:6] timor et tremor venit super me et operuit me caligo(vulgate) 6 ׃55 יִרְאָ֣ה וָ֭רַעַד יָ֣בֹא בִ֑י וַ֝תְּכַסֵּ֗נִי פַּלָּצֽוּת׃ Psalms Psa 55:5 Furcht und Zittern ist mich angekommen, und Grauen hat mich überfallen.(dhs) Psa 55:5 Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, And horror has overwhelmed me.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:6 ============ Psa 55:6 I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.(nas) Psa 55:6 φόβος καὶ τρόμος ἦλθεν ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ καὶ ἐκάλυψέν με σκότος (lxx) Psa 55:6 [Vulgate 54:7] et dixi quis dabit mihi pinnas columbae ut volem et requiescam(vulgate) 7 ׃55 וָאֹמַ֗ר מִֽי־יִתֶּן־לִּ֣י אֵ֭בֶר כַּיּוֹנָ֗ה אָע֥וּפָה וְאֶשְׁכֹּֽנָה׃ Psalms Psa 55:6 Ich sprach: O hätte ich Flügel wie Tauben, da ich flöge und wo bliebe!(dhs) Psa 55:6 So I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:7 ============ Psa 55:7 "Behold, I would wander far away, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah.(nas) Psa 55:7 καὶ εἶπα τίς δώσει μοι πτέρυγας ὡσεὶ περιστερᾶς καὶ πετασθήσομαι καὶ καταπαύσω (lxx) Psa 55:7 [Vulgate 54:8] ut procul abeam et commorer in deserto semper(vulgate) 8 ׃55 הִ֭נֵּה אַרְחִ֣יק נְדֹ֑ד אָלִ֖ין בַּמִּדְבָּ֣ר סֶֽלָה׃ Psalms Psa 55:7 Siehe, so wollt ich ferne wegfliehen und in der Wüste bleiben. (Sela.)(dhs) Psa 55:7 Indeed, I would wander far off, And remain in the wilderness. Selah(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:8 ============ Psa 55:8 "I would hasten to my place of refuge From the stormy wind and tempest."(nas) Psa 55:8 ἰδοὺ ἐμάκρυνα φυγαδεύων καὶ ηὐλίσθην ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ διάψαλμα (lxx) Psa 55:8 [Vulgate 54:9] festinabo ut salver ab spiritu tempestatis et turbinis(vulgate) 9 ׃55 אָחִ֣ישָׁה מִפְלָ֣ט לִ֑י מֵר֖וּחַ סֹעָ֣ה מִסָּֽעַר׃ Psalms Psa 55:8 Ich wollte eilen, daß ich entrönne vor dem Sturmwind und Wetter.(dhs) Psa 55:8 I would hasten my escape From the windy storm and tempest."(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:9 ============ Psa 55:9 Confuse, O Lord, divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.(nas) Psa 55:9 προσεδεχόμην τὸν σῴζοντά με ἀπὸ ὀλιγοψυχίας καὶ καταιγίδος (lxx) Psa 55:9 [Vulgate 54:10] praecipita Domine divide linguas eorum quoniam vidi iniquitatem et contradictionem in civitate(vulgate) 10 ׃55 בַּלַּ֣ע אֲ֭דֹנָי פַּלַּ֣ג לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם כִּֽי־רָאִ֨יתִי חָמָ֖ס וְרִ֣יב בָּעִֽיר׃ Psalms Psa 55:9 Mache ihre Zunge uneins, HERR, und laß sie untergehen; denn ich sehe Frevel und Hader in der Stadt.(dhs) Psa 55:9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:10 ============ Psa 55:10 Day and night they go around her upon her walls, And iniquity and mischief are in her midst.(nas) Psa 55:10 καταπόντισον κύριε καὶ καταδίελε τὰς γλώσσας αὐτῶν ὅτι εἶδον ἀνομίαν καὶ ἀντιλογίαν ἐν τῇ πόλει (lxx) Psa 55:10 [Vulgate 54:11] die et nocte circumeuntes muros eius scelus et dolorem in medio eius(vulgate) 11 ׃55 יוֹמָ֤ם וָלַ֗יְלָה יְסוֹבְבֻ֥הָ עַל־חוֹמֹתֶ֑יהָ וְאָ֖וֶן וְעָמָ֣ל בְּקִרְבָּֽהּ׃ Psalms Psa 55:10 Solches geht Tag und Nacht um und um auf ihren Mauern, und Mühe und Arbeit ist drinnen.(dhs) Psa 55:10 Day and night they go around it on its walls; Iniquity and trouble are also in the midst of it.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:11 ============ Psa 55:11 Destruction is in her midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from her streets.(nas) Psa 55:11 ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς κυκλώσει αὐτὴν ἐπὶ τὰ τείχη αὐτῆς ἀνομία καὶ κόπος ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς καὶ ἀδικία (lxx) Psa 55:11 [Vulgate 54:12] insidiae in vitalibus eius et non recedet de plateis eius damnum et fraudulentia(vulgate) 12 ׃55 הַוּ֥וֹת בְּקִרְבָּ֑הּ וְֽלֹא־יָמִ֥ישׁ מֵ֝רְחֹבָ֗הּ תֹּ֣ךְ וּמִרְמָֽה׃ Psalms Psa 55:11 Schadentun regieret drinnen; Lügen und Trügen läßt nicht von ihrer Gasse.(dhs) Psa 55:11 Destruction is in its midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from its streets.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:12 ============ Psa 55:12 For it is not an enemy who reproaches me, Then I could bear it; Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me, Then I could hide myself from him.(nas) Psa 55:12 καὶ οὐκ ἐξέλιπεν ἐκ τῶν πλατειῶν αὐτῆς τόκος καὶ δόλος (lxx) Psa 55:12 [Vulgate 54:13] non enim inimicus exprobravit mihi ut sustineam neque is qui me oderat super me magnificatus est ut abscondar ab eo(vulgate) 13 ׃55 כִּ֤י לֹֽא־אוֹיֵ֥ב יְחָֽרְפֵ֗נִי וְאֶ֫שָּׂ֥א לֹֽא־מְ֭שַׂנְאִי עָלַ֣י הִגְדִּ֑יל וְאֶסָּתֵ֥ר מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃ Psalms Psa 55:12 Wenn mich doch mein Feind schändete, wollte ich's leiden; und wenn mein Hasser wider mich pochte, wollte ich mich vor ihm verbergen.(dhs) Psa 55:12 For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:13 ============ Psa 55:13 But it is you, a man my equal, My companion and my familiar friend;(nas) Psa 55:13 ὅτι εἰ ἐχθρὸς ὠνείδισέν με ὑπήνεγκα ἄν καὶ εἰ ὁ μισῶν με ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἐμεγαλορρημόνησεν ἐκρύβην ἂν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ (lxx) Psa 55:13 [Vulgate 54:14] sed tu homo unianimis meus dux meus et notus meus(vulgate) 14 ׃55 וְאַתָּ֣ה אֱנ֣וֹשׁ כְּעֶרְכִּ֑י אַ֝לּוּפִ֗י וּמְיֻדָּֽעִי׃ Psalms Psa 55:13 Du aber bist mein Geselle, mein Freund und mein Verwandter,(dhs) Psa 55:13 But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:14 ============ Psa 55:14 We who had sweet fellowship together Walked in the house of God in the throng.(nas) Psa 55:14 σὺ δέ ἄνθρωπε ἰσόψυχε ἡγεμών μου καὶ γνωστέ μου (lxx) Psa 55:14 [Vulgate 54:15] qui simul habuimus dulce secretum in domo Dei ambulavimus in terrore(vulgate) 15 ׃55 אֲשֶׁ֣ר יַ֭חְדָּו נַמְתִּ֣יק ס֑וֹד בְּבֵ֥ית אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים נְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בְּרָֽגֶשׁ׃ Psalms Psa 55:14 die wir freundlich miteinander waren unter uns; wir wandelten im Hause Gottes unter der Menge.(dhs) Psa 55:14 We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:15 ============ Psa 55:15 Let death come deceitfully upon them; Let them go down alive to Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst.(nas) Psa 55:15 ὃς ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό μοι ἐγλύκανας ἐδέσματα ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπορεύθημεν ἐν ὁμονοίᾳ (lxx) Psa 55:15 [Vulgate 54:16] veniat mors super eos descendant in infernum viventes quia nequitiae in congregatione eorum et in medio eorum(vulgate) 16 ׃55 *ישימות **יַשִּׁ֤י **מָ֨וֶת ׀ עָלֵ֗ימוֹ יֵרְד֣וּ שְׁא֣וֹל חַיִּ֑ים כִּֽי־רָע֖וֹת בִּמְגוּרָ֣ם בְּקִרְבָּֽם׃ Psalms Psa 55:15 Der Tod übereile sie, daß sie lebendig in die Hölle fahren; denn es ist eitel Bosheit unter ihrem Haufen.(dhs) Psa 55:15 Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, For wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:16 ============ Psa 55:16 As for me, I shall call upon God, And the Lord will save me.(nas) Psa 55:16 ἐλθέτω θάνατος ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς καὶ καταβήτωσαν εἰς ᾅδου ζῶντες ὅτι πονηρίαι ἐν ταῖς παροικίαις αὐτῶν ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν (lxx) Psa 55:16 [Vulgate 54:17] ego ad Deum clamabo et Dominus salvabit me(vulgate) 17 ׃55 אֲ֭נִי אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֶקְרָ֑א וַ֝יהוָ֗ה יוֹשִׁיעֵֽנִי׃ Psalms Psa 55:16 Ich aber will zu Gott rufen, und der HERR wird mir helfen.(dhs) Psa 55:16 As for me, I will call upon God, And the Lord shall save me.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:17 ============ Psa 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice.(nas) Psa 55:17 ἐγὼ δὲ πρὸς τὸν θεὸν ἐκέκραξα καὶ ὁ κύριος εἰσήκουσέν μου (lxx) Psa 55:17 [Vulgate 54:18] vespere et mane et meridie eloquar et resonabo et exaudiet vocem meam(vulgate) 18 ׃55 עֶ֤רֶב וָבֹ֣קֶר וְ֭צָהֳרַיִם אָשִׂ֣יחָה וְאֶהֱמֶ֑ה וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע קוֹלִֽי׃ Psalms Psa 55:17 Des Abends, Morgens und Mittags will ich klagen und heulen, so wird er meine Stimme hören.(dhs) Psa 55:17 Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:18 ============ Psa 55:18 He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me.(nas) Psa 55:18 ἑσπέρας καὶ πρωὶ καὶ μεσημβρίας διηγήσομαι ἀπαγγελῶ καὶ εἰσακούσεται τῆς φωνῆς μου (lxx) Psa 55:18 [Vulgate 54:19] redimet in pace animam meam ab adpropinquantibus mihi multi enim fuerunt adversum me(vulgate) 19 ׃55 פָּ֘דָ֤ה בְשָׁל֣וֹם נַ֭פְשִׁי מִקֲּרָב־לִ֑י כִּֽי־בְ֝רַבִּ֗ים הָי֥וּ עִמָּדִֽי׃ Psalms Psa 55:18 Er erlöst meine Seele von denen, die an mich wollen, und schafft ihr Ruhe; denn ihrer viele sind wider mich.(dhs) Psa 55:18 He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, For there were many against me.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:19 ============ Psa 55:19 God will hear and answer them-- Even the one who sits enthroned from of old-- Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.(nas) Psa 55:19 λυτρώσεται ἐν εἰρήνῃ τὴν ψυχήν μου ἀπὸ τῶν ἐγγιζόντων μοι ὅτι ἐν πολλοῖς ἦσαν σὺν ἐμοί (lxx) Psa 55:19 [Vulgate 54:20] exaudiet Deus et humiliabit eos qui iudex est ab initio semper non enim mutantur neque timent Deum(vulgate) 20 ׃55 יִשְׁמַ֤ע ׀ אֵ֨ל ׀ וְֽיַעֲנֵם֮ וְיֹ֤שֵׁ֥ב קֶ֗דֶם סֶ֥לָה אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֵ֣ין חֲלִיפ֣וֹת לָ֑מוֹ וְלֹ֖א יָרְא֣וּ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ Psalms Psa 55:19 Gott wird hören und sie demütigen, der allewege bleibt. (Sela.) Denn sie werden nicht anders und fürchten Gott nicht.(dhs) Psa 55:19 God will hear, and afflict them, Even He who abides from of old. Selah Because they do not change, Therefore they do not fear God.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:20 ============ Psa 55:20 He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has violated his covenant.(nas) Psa 55:20 εἰσακούσεται ὁ θεὸς καὶ ταπεινώσει αὐτούς ὁ ὑπάρχων πρὸ τῶν αἰώνων διάψαλμα οὐ γάρ ἐστιν αὐτοῖς ἀντάλλαγμα καὶ οὐκ ἐφοβήθησαν τὸν θεόν (lxx) Psa 55:20 [Vulgate 54:21] extendit manum suam ad pacifica sua contaminabit pactum suum(vulgate) 21 ׃55 שָׁלַ֣ח יָ֭דָיו בִּשְׁלֹמָ֗יו חִלֵּ֥ל בְּרִיתֽוֹ׃ Psalms Psa 55:20 Sie legen ihre Hände an seine Friedsamen und entheiligen seinen Bund.(dhs) Psa 55:20 He has put forth his hands against those who were at peace with him; He has broken his covenant.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:21 ============ Psa 55:21 His speech was smoother than butter, But his heart was war; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.(nas) Psa 55:21 ἐξέτεινεν τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ ἀποδιδόναι ἐβεβήλωσαν τὴν διαθήκην αὐτοῦ (lxx) Psa 55:21 [Vulgate 54:22] nitidius butyro os eius pugnat autem cor illius molliores sermones eius oleo cum sint lanceae(vulgate) 22 ׃55 חָלְק֤וּ ׀ מַחְמָאֹ֣ת פִּיו֮ וּֽקֲרָב־לִ֫בּ֥וֹ רַכּ֖וּ דְבָרָ֥יו מִשֶּׁ֗מֶן וְהֵ֣מָּה פְתִחֽוֹת׃ Psalms Psa 55:21 Ihr Mund ist glätter denn Butter, und sie haben Krieg im Sinn; ihre Worte sind gelinder denn Öl, und sind doch bloße Schwerter.(dhs) Psa 55:21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, But war was in his heart; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:22 ============ Psa 55:22 Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.(nas) Psa 55:22 διεμερίσθησαν ἀπὸ ὀργῆς τοῦ προσώπου αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤγγισεν ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἡπαλύνθησαν οἱ λόγοι αὐτοῦ ὑπὲρ ἔλαιον καὶ αὐτοί εἰσιν βολίδες (lxx) Psa 55:22 [Vulgate 54:23] proice super Dominum caritatem tuam et ipse enutriet te non dabit in aeternum fluctuationem iusto(vulgate) 23 ׃55 הַשְׁלֵ֤ךְ עַל־יְהוָ֨ה ׀ יְהָבְךָ֮ וְה֢וּא יְכַ֫לְכְּלֶ֥ךָ לֹא־יִתֵּ֖ן לְעוֹלָ֥ם מ֗וֹט לַצַּדִּֽיק׃ Psalms Psa 55:22 Wirf dein Anliegen auf den HERRN; der wird dich versorgen und wird den Gerechten nicht ewiglich in Unruhe lassen.(dhs) Psa 55:22 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.(nkjv) ======= Psalm 55:23 ============ Psa 55:23 But You, O God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; Men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. But I will trust in You.(nas) Psa 55:23 σὺ δέ ὁ θεός κατάξεις αὐτοὺς εἰς φρέαρ διαφθορᾶς ἄνδρες αἱμάτων καὶ δολιότητος οὐ μὴ ἡμισεύσωσιν τὰς ἡμέρας αὐτῶν ἐγὼ δὲ ἐλπιῶ ἐπὶ σέ κύριε (lxx) Psa 55:23 [Vulgate 54:24] tu autem Deus deduces eos in puteum interitus viri sanguinum et dolosi non dimidiabunt dies suos ego autem fiduciam habeo tui(vulgate) 24 ׃55 וְאַתָּ֤ה אֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀ תּוֹרִדֵ֬ם ׀ לִבְאֵ֬ר שַׁ֗חַת אַנְשֵׁ֤י דָמִ֣ים וּ֖[d]מִרְמָה לֹא־יֶחֱצ֣וּ יְמֵיהֶ֑ם וַ֝אֲנִ֗י אֶבְטַח־בָּֽךְ׃ Psalms Psa 55:23 Aber, Gott, du wirst sie hinunterstoßen in die tiefe Grube: die Blutgierigen und Falschen werden ihr Leben nicht zur Hälfte bringen.
