Today's Date: ======= Proverbs 1:1 ============ Pro 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:(nas) Pro 1:1 παροιμίαι Σαλωμῶντος υἱοῦ Δαυιδ ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ισραηλ (lxx) Pro 1:1 [Parabolæ Salomonis, filii David, regis Israël,(vulgate) 1 ׃1 מִ֭שְׁלֵי שְׁלֹמֹ֣ה בֶן־דָּוִ֑ד מֶ֝֗לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ Proverbs Pro 1:1 Dies sind die Sprüche Salomos, des Königs in Israel, des Sohnes Davids,(dhs) Pro 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:2 ============ Pro 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction, To discern the sayings of understanding,(nas) Pro 1:2 γνῶναι σοφίαν καὶ παιδείαν νοῆσαί τε λόγους φρονήσεως (lxx) Pro 1:2 ad sciendam sapientiam et disciplinam;(vulgate) 2 ׃1 לָדַ֣עַת חָכְמָ֣ה וּמוּסָ֑ר לְ֝הָבִ֗ין אִמְרֵ֥י בִינָֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 1:2 zu lernen Weisheit und Zucht, Verstand(dhs) Pro 1:2 To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:3 ============ Pro 1:3 To receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity;(nas) Pro 1:3 δέξασθαί τε στροφὰς λόγων νοῆσαί τε δικαιοσύνην ἀληθῆ καὶ κρίμα κατευθύνειν (lxx) Pro 1:3 ad intelligenda verba prudentiæ, et suscipiendam eruditionem doctrinæ, justitiam, et judicium, et æquitatem:(vulgate) 3 ׃1 לָ֭קַחַת מוּסַ֣ר הַשְׂכֵּ֑ל צֶ֥דֶק וּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט וּמֵישָׁרִֽים׃ Proverbs Pro 1:3 Klugheit, Gerechtigkeit, Recht und Schlecht;(dhs) Pro 1:3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:4 ============ Pro 1:4 To give prudence to the naive, To the youth knowledge and discretion,(nas) Pro 1:4 ἵνα δῷ ἀκάκοις πανουργίαν παιδὶ δὲ νέῳ αἴσθησίν τε καὶ ἔννοιαν (lxx) Pro 1:4 ut detur parvulis astutia, adolescenti scientia et intellectus.(vulgate) 4 ׃1 לָתֵ֣ת לִפְתָאיִ֣ם עָרְמָ֑ה לְ֝נַ֗עַר דַּ֣עַת וּמְזִמָּֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 1:4 daß die Unverständigen klug und die Jünglinge vernünftig und vorsichtig werden.(dhs) Pro 1:4 To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion--(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:5 ============ Pro 1:5 A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,(nas) Pro 1:5 τῶνδε γὰρ ἀκούσας σοφὸς σοφώτερος ἔσται ὁ δὲ νοήμων κυβέρνησιν κτήσεται (lxx) Pro 1:5 Audiens sapiens, sapientior erit, et intelligens gubernacula possidebit.(vulgate) 5 ׃1 יִשְׁמַ֣ע חָ֭כָם וְי֣וֹסֶף לֶ֑קַח וְ֝נָב֗וֹן תַּחְבֻּל֥וֹת יִקְנֶֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 1:5 Wer weise ist der hört zu und bessert sich; wer verständig ist, der läßt sich raten,(dhs) Pro 1:5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:6 ============ Pro 1:6 To understand a proverb and a figure, The words of the wise and their riddles.(nas) Pro 1:6 νοήσει τε παραβολὴν καὶ σκοτεινὸν λόγον ῥήσεις τε σοφῶν καὶ αἰνίγματα (lxx) Pro 1:6 Animadvertet parabolam et interpretationem, verba sapientum et ænigmata eorum.(vulgate) 6 ׃1 לְהָבִ֣ין מָ֭שָׁל וּמְלִיצָ֑ה דִּבְרֵ֥י חֲ֝כָמִ֗ים וְחִידֹתָֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:6 daß er verstehe die Sprüche und ihre Deutung, die Lehre der Weisen und ihre Beispiele.(dhs) Pro 1:6 To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:7 ============ Pro 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.(nas) Pro 1:7 ἀρχὴ σοφίας φόβος θεοῦ σύνεσις δὲ ἀγαθὴ πᾶσι τοῖς ποιοῦσιν αὐτήν εὐσέβεια δὲ εἰς θεὸν ἀρχὴ αἰσθήσεως σοφίαν δὲ καὶ παιδείαν ἀσεβεῖς ἐξουθενήσουσιν (lxx) Pro 1:7 Timor Domini principium sapientiæ; sapientiam atque doctrinam stulti despiciunt.]~(vulgate) 7 ׃1 יִרְאַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה רֵאשִׁ֣ית דָּ֑עַת חָכְמָ֥ה וּ֝מוּסָ֗ר אֱוִילִ֥ים בָּֽזוּ׃ פ Proverbs Pro 1:7 Des HERRN Furcht ist Anfang der Erkenntnis. Die Ruchlosen verachten Weisheit und Zucht.(dhs) Pro 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:8 ============ Pro 1:8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction And do not forsake your mother's teaching;(nas) Pro 1:8 ἄκουε υἱέ παιδείαν πατρός σου καὶ μὴ ἀπώσῃ θεσμοὺς μητρός σου (lxx) Pro 1:8 [Audi, fili mi, disciplinam patris tui, et ne dimittas legem matris tuæ:(vulgate) 8 ׃1 שְׁמַ֣ע בְּ֭נִי מוּסַ֣ר אָבִ֑יךָ וְאַל־תִּ֝טֹּ֗שׁ תּוֹרַ֥ת אִמֶּֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 1:8 Mein Kind, gehorche der Zucht deines Vaters und verlaß nicht das Gebot deiner Mutter.(dhs) Pro 1:8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:9 ============ Pro 1:9 Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head And ornaments about your neck.(nas) Pro 1:9 στέφανον γὰρ χαρίτων δέξῃ σῇ κορυφῇ καὶ κλοιὸν χρύσεον περὶ σῷ τραχήλῳ (lxx) Pro 1:9 ut addatur gratia capiti tuo, et torques collo tuo.(vulgate) 9 ׃1 כִּ֤י ׀ לִוְיַ֤ת חֵ֓ן הֵ֬ם לְרֹאשֶׁ֑ךָ וַ֝עֲנָקִ֗ים לְגַרְגְּרֹתֶֽיךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 1:9 Denn solches ist ein schöner Schmuck deinem Haupt und eine Kette an deinem Hals.(dhs) Pro 1:9 For they will be a graceful ornament on your head, And chains about your neck.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:10 ============ Pro 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.(nas) Pro 1:10 υἱέ μή σε πλανήσωσιν ἄνδρες ἀσεβεῖς μηδὲ βουληθῇς ἐὰν παρακαλέσωσί σε λέγοντες (lxx) Pro 1:10 Fili mi, si te lactaverint peccatores, ne acquiescas eis.(vulgate) 10 ׃1 בְּנִ֡י אִם־יְפַתּ֥וּךָ חַ֝טָּאִ֗ים אַל־תֹּבֵֽא׃ Proverbs Pro 1:10 Mein Kind, wenn dich die bösen Buben locken, so folge nicht.(dhs) Pro 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:11 ============ Pro 1:11 If they say, "Come with us, Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us ambush the innocent without cause;(nas) Pro 1:11 ἐλθὲ μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν κοινώνησον αἵματος κρύψωμεν δὲ εἰς γῆν ἄνδρα δίκαιον ἀδίκως (lxx) Pro 1:11 Si dixerint: Veni nobiscum, insidiemur sanguini; abscondamus tendiculas contra insontem frustra;(vulgate) 11 ׃1 אִם־יֹאמְרוּ֮ לְכָ֢ה אִ֫תָּ֥נוּ נֶאֶרְבָ֥ה לְדָ֑ם נִצְפְּנָ֖ה לְנָקִ֣י חִנָּֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:11 Wenn sie sagen: "Gehe mit uns! wir wollen auf Blut lauern und den Unschuldigen ohne Ursache nachstellen;(dhs) Pro 1:11 If they say, "Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:12 ============ Pro 1:12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, Even whole, as those who go down to the pit;(nas) Pro 1:12 καταπίωμεν δὲ αὐτὸν ὥσπερ ᾅδης ζῶντα καὶ ἄρωμεν αὐτοῦ τὴν μνήμην ἐκ γῆς (lxx) Pro 1:12 deglutiamus eum sicut infernus viventem, et integrum quasi descendentem in lacum;(vulgate) 12 ׃1 נִ֭בְלָעֵם כִּשְׁא֣וֹל חַיִּ֑ים וּ֝תְמִימִ֗ים כְּי֣וֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃ Proverbs Pro 1:12 wir wollen sie lebendig verschlingen wie die Hölle und die Frommen wie die, so hinunter in die Grube fahren;(dhs) Pro 1:12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, like those who go down to the Pit;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:13 ============ Pro 1:13 We will find all kinds of precious wealth, We will fill our houses with spoil;(nas) Pro 1:13 τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ τὴν πολυτελῆ καταλαβώμεθα πλήσωμεν δὲ οἴκους ἡμετέρους σκύλων (lxx) Pro 1:13 omnem pretiosam substantiam reperiemus; implebimus domos nostras spoliis:(vulgate) 13 ׃1 כָּל־ה֣וֹן יָקָ֣ר נִמְצָ֑א נְמַלֵּ֖א בָתֵּ֣ינוּ שָׁלָֽל׃ Proverbs Pro 1:13 wir wollen großes Gut finden; wir wollen unsre Häuser mit Raub füllen;(dhs) Pro 1:13 We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:14 ============ Pro 1:14 Throw in your lot with us, We shall all have one purse,"(nas) Pro 1:14 τὸν δὲ σὸν κλῆρον βάλε ἐν ἡμῖν κοινὸν δὲ βαλλάντιον κτησώμεθα πάντες καὶ μαρσίππιον ἓν γενηθήτω ἡμῖν (lxx) Pro 1:14 sortem mitte nobiscum, marsupium unum sit omnium nostrum:(vulgate) 14 ׃1 גּ֭וֹרָ֣לְךָ תַּפִּ֣יל בְּתוֹכֵ֑נוּ כִּ֥יס אֶ֝חָ֗ד יִהְיֶ֥ה לְכֻלָּֽנוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 1:14 wage es mit uns! es soll unser aller ein Beutel sein":(dhs) Pro 1:14 Cast in your lot among us, Let us all have one purse"--(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:15 ============ Pro 1:15 My son, do not walk in the way with them. Keep your feet from their path,(nas) Pro 1:15 μὴ πορευθῇς ἐν ὁδῷ μετ᾽ αὐτῶν ἔκκλινον δὲ τὸν πόδα σου ἐκ τῶν τρίβων αὐτῶν (lxx) Pro 1:15 fili mi, ne ambules cum eis; prohibe pedem tuum a semitis eorum:(vulgate) 15 ׃1 בְּנִ֗י אַל־תֵּלֵ֣ךְ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ אִתָּ֑ם מְנַ֥ע רַ֝גְלְךָ֗ מִנְּתִיבָתָֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:15 mein Kind, wandle den Weg nicht mit ihnen; wehre deinem Fuß vor ihrem Pfad.(dhs) Pro 1:15 My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:16 ============ Pro 1:16 For their feet run to evil And they hasten to shed blood.(nas) Pro 1:16 οἱ γὰρ πόδες αὐτῶν εἰς κακίαν τρέχουσιν καὶ ταχινοὶ τοῦ ἐκχέαι αἷμα (lxx) Pro 1:16 pedes enim illorum ad malum currunt, et festinant ut effundant sanguinem.(vulgate) 16 ׃1 כִּ֣י רַ֭גְלֵיהֶם לָרַ֣ע יָר֑וּצוּ וִֽ֝ימַהֲר֗וּ לִשְׁפָּךְ־דָּֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:16 Denn ihr Füße laufen zum Bösen und eilen, Blut zu vergießen.(dhs) Pro 1:16 For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:17 ============ Pro 1:17 Indeed, it is useless to spread the baited net In the sight of any bird;(nas) Pro 1:17 οὐ γὰρ ἀδίκως ἐκτείνεται δίκτυα πτερωτοῖς (lxx) Pro 1:17 Frustra autem jacitur rete ante oculos pennatorum.(vulgate) 17 ׃1 כִּֽי־חִ֭נָּם מְזֹרָ֣ה הָרָ֑שֶׁת בְּ֝עֵינֵ֗י כָל־בַּ֥עַל כָּנָֽף׃ Proverbs Pro 1:17 Denn es ist vergeblich, das Netz auswerfen vor den Augen der Vögel.(dhs) Pro 1:17 Surely, in vain the net is spread In the sight of any bird;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:18 ============ Pro 1:18 But they lie in wait for their own blood; They ambush their own lives.(nas) Pro 1:18 αὐτοὶ γὰρ οἱ φόνου μετέχοντες θησαυρίζουσιν ἑαυτοῖς κακά ἡ δὲ καταστροφὴ ἀνδρῶν παρανόμων κακή (lxx) Pro 1:18 Ipsi quoque contra sanguinem suum insidiantur, et moliuntur fraudes contra animas suas.(vulgate) 18 ׃1 וְ֭הֵם לְדָמָ֣ם יֶאֱרֹ֑בוּ יִ֝צְפְּנ֗וּ לְנַפְשֹׁתָֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:18 Sie aber lauern auf ihr eigen Blut und stellen sich selbst nach dem Leben.(dhs) Pro 1:18 But they lie in wait for their own blood, They lurk secretly for their own lives.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:19 ============ Pro 1:19 So are the ways of everyone who gains by violence; It takes away the life of its possessors.(nas) Pro 1:19 αὗται αἱ ὁδοί εἰσιν πάντων τῶν συντελούντων τὰ ἄνομα τῇ γὰρ ἀσεβείᾳ τὴν ἑαυτῶν ψυχὴν ἀφαιροῦνται (lxx) Pro 1:19 Sic semitæ omnis avari: animas possidentium rapiunt.]~(vulgate) 19 ׃1 כֵּ֗ן אָ֭רְחוֹת כָּל־בֹּ֣צֵֽעַ בָּ֑צַע אֶת־נֶ֖פֶשׁ בְּעָלָ֣יו יִקָּֽ[t]ח׃ פ Proverbs Pro 1:19 Also geht es allen, die nach Gewinn geizen, daß ihr Geiz ihnen das Leben nimmt.(dhs) Pro 1:19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:20 ============ Pro 1:20 Wisdom shouts in the street, She lifts her voice in the square;(nas) Pro 1:20 σοφία ἐν ἐξόδοις ὑμνεῖται ἐν δὲ πλατείαις παρρησίαν ἄγει (lxx) Pro 1:20 [Sapientia foris prædicat; in plateis dat vocem suam:(vulgate) 20 ׃1 חָ֭כְמוֹת בַּח֣וּץ תָּרֹ֑נָּה בָּ֝רְחֹב֗וֹת תִּתֵּ֥ן קוֹלָֽהּ׃ Proverbs Pro 1:20 Die Weisheit klagt draußen und läßt sich hören auf den Gassen;(dhs) Pro 1:20 Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:21 ============ Pro 1:21 At the head of the noisy streets she cries out; At the entrance of the gates in the city she utters her sayings:(nas) Pro 1:21 ἐπ᾽ ἄκρων δὲ τειχέων κηρύσσεται ἐπὶ δὲ πύλαις δυναστῶν παρεδρεύει ἐπὶ δὲ πύλαις πόλεως θαρροῦσα λέγει (lxx) Pro 1:21 in capite turbarum clamitat; in foribus portarum urbis profert verba sua, dicens:(vulgate) 21 ׃1 בְּרֹ֥אשׁ הֹמִיּ֗וֹת תִּ֫קְרָ֥א בְּפִתְחֵ֖י שְׁעָרִ֥ים בָּעִ֗יר אֲמָרֶ֥יהָ תֹאמֵֽר׃ Proverbs Pro 1:21 sie ruft in dem Eingang des Tores, vorn unter dem Volk; sie redet ihre Worte in der Stadt:(dhs) Pro 1:21 She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words:(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:22 ============ Pro 1:22 "How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing And fools hate knowledge?(nas) Pro 1:22 ὅσον ἂν χρόνον ἄκακοι ἔχωνται τῆς δικαιοσύνης οὐκ αἰσχυνθήσονται οἱ δὲ ἄφρονες τῆς ὕβρεως ὄντες ἐπιθυμηταί ἀσεβεῖς γενόμενοι ἐμίσησαν αἴσθησιν (lxx) Pro 1:22 Usquequo, parvuli, diligitis infantiam, et stulti ea quæ sibi sunt noxia cupient, et imprudentes odibunt scientiam?(vulgate) 22 ׃1 עַד־מָתַ֣י ׀ פְּתָיִם֮ תְּֽאֵהֲב֫וּ־פֶ֥תִי וְלֵצִ֗ים לָ֭צוֹן חָמְד֣וּ לָהֶ֑ם וּ֝כְסִילִ֗ים יִשְׂנְאוּ־דָֽעַת׃ Proverbs Pro 1:22 Wie lange wollt ihr Unverständigen unverständig sein und die Spötter Lust zu Spötterei und die Ruchlosen die Lehre hassen?(dhs) Pro 1:22 "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:23 ============ Pro 1:23 "Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.(nas) Pro 1:23 καὶ ὑπεύθυνοι ἐγένοντο ἐλέγχοις ἰδοὺ προήσομαι ὑμῖν ἐμῆς πνοῆς ῥῆσιν διδάξω δὲ ὑμᾶς τὸν ἐμὸν λόγον (lxx) Pro 1:23 convertimini ad correptionem meam. En proferam vobis spiritum meum, et ostendam vobis verba mea.(vulgate) 23 ׃1 תָּשׁ֗וּבוּ לְֽת֫וֹכַחְתִּ֥י הִנֵּ֤ה אַבִּ֣יעָה לָכֶ֣ם רוּחִ֑י אוֹדִ֖יעָה דְבָרַ֣י אֶתְכֶֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:23 Kehret euch zu meiner Strafe. Siehe, ich will euch heraussagen meinen Geist und euch meine Worte kundtun.(dhs) Pro 1:23 Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:24 ============ Pro 1:24 "Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;(nas) Pro 1:24 ἐπειδὴ ἐκάλουν καὶ οὐχ ὑπηκούσατε καὶ ἐξέτεινον λόγους καὶ οὐ προσείχετε (lxx) Pro 1:24 Quia vocavi, et renuistis; extendi manum meam, et non fuit qui aspiceret:(vulgate) 24 ׃1 יַ֣עַן קָ֭רָאתִי וַתְּמָאֵ֑נוּ נָטִ֥יתִי יָ֝דִ֗י וְאֵ֣ין מַקְשִֽׁיב׃ Proverbs Pro 1:24 Weil ich denn rufe, und ihr weigert euch, ich recke meine Hand aus, und niemand achtet darauf,(dhs) Pro 1:24 Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:25 ============ Pro 1:25 And you neglected all my counsel And did not want my reproof;(nas) Pro 1:25 ἀλλὰ ἀκύρους ἐποιεῖτε ἐμὰς βουλάς τοῖς δὲ ἐμοῖς ἐλέγχοις ἠπειθήσατε (lxx) Pro 1:25 despexistis omne consilium meum, et increpationes meas neglexistis.(vulgate) 25 ׃1 וַתִּפְרְע֥וּ כָל־עֲצָתִ֑י וְ֝תוֹכַחְתִּ֗י לֹ֣א אֲבִיתֶֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:25 und laßt fahren allen meinen Rat und wollt meine Strafe nicht:(dhs) Pro 1:25 Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:26 ============ Pro 1:26 I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes,(nas) Pro 1:26 τοιγαροῦν κἀγὼ τῇ ὑμετέρᾳ ἀπωλείᾳ ἐπιγελάσομαι καταχαροῦμαι δέ ἡνίκα ἂν ἔρχηται ὑμῖν ὄλεθρος (lxx) Pro 1:26 Ego quoque in interitu vestro ridebo, et subsannabo cum vobis id quod timebatis advenerit.(vulgate) 26 ׃1 גַּם־אֲ֭נִי בְּאֵידְכֶ֣ם אֶשְׂחָ֑ק אֶ֝לְעַ֗ג בְּבֹ֣א פַחְדְּכֶֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 1:26 so will ich auch lachen in eurem Unglück und eurer spotten, wenn da kommt, was ihr fürchtet,(dhs) Pro 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 1:27 ============ Pro 1:27 When your dread comes like a storm And your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.(nas) Pro 1:27 καὶ ὡς ἂν ἀφίκηται ὑμῖν ἄφνω θόρυβος ἡ δὲ καταστροφὴ ὁμοίως καταιγίδι παρῇ καὶ ὅταν ἔρχηται ὑμῖν θλῖψις καὶ πολιορκία ἢ ὅταν ἔρχηται ὑμῖν ὄλεθρος (lxx) Pro 1:27 Cum irruerit repentina calamitas, et interitus quasi tempestas ingruerit;
