Today's Date: 4/6/2025 ======= Proverbs 4:1 ============ Pro 4:1 Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding,(nas) Pro 4:1 ἀκούσατε παῖδες παιδείαν πατρὸς καὶ προσέχετε γνῶναι ἔννοιαν (lxx) Pro 4:1 [Audite, filii, disciplinam patris, et attendite ut sciatis prudentiam.(vulgate) 1 ׃4 שִׁמְע֣וּ בָ֭נִים מ֣וּסַר אָ֑ב וְ֝הַקְשִׁ֗יבוּ לָדַ֥עַת בִּינָֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 4:1 Höret, meine Kinder, die Zucht eures Vaters; merket auf, daß ihr lernt und klug werdet!(dhs) Pro 4:1 Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:2 ============ Pro 4:2 For I give you sound teaching; Do not abandon my instruction.(nas) Pro 4:2 δῶρον γὰρ ἀγαθὸν δωροῦμαι ὑμῖν τὸν ἐμὸν νόμον μὴ ἐγκαταλίπητε (lxx) Pro 4:2 Donum bonum tribuam vobis: legem meam ne derelinquatis.(vulgate) 2 ׃4 כִּ֤י לֶ֣קַח ט֭וֹב נָתַ֣תִּי לָכֶ֑ם תּֽ֝וֹרָתִ֗י אַֽל־תַּעֲזֹֽבוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:2 Denn ich gebe euch eine gute Lehre; verlaßt mein Gesetz nicht.(dhs) Pro 4:2 For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:3 ============ Pro 4:3 When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,(nas) Pro 4:3 υἱὸς γὰρ ἐγενόμην κἀγὼ πατρὶ ὑπήκοος καὶ ἀγαπώμενος ἐν προσώπῳ μητρός (lxx) Pro 4:3 Nam et ego filius fui patris mei, tenellus et unigenitus coram matre mea.(vulgate) 3 ׃4 כִּי־בֵ֭ן הָיִ֣יתִי לְאָבִ֑י רַ֥ךְ וְ֝יָחִ֗יד לִפְנֵ֥י אִמִּֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 4:3 Denn ich war meines Vaters Sohn, ein zarter und ein einziger vor meiner Mutter.(dhs) Pro 4:3 When I was my father's son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:4 ============ Pro 4:4 Then he taught me and said to me, "Let your heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments and live;(nas) Pro 4:4 οἳ ἔλεγον καὶ ἐδίδασκόν με ἐρειδέτω ὁ ἡμέτερος λόγος εἰς σὴν καρδίαν (lxx) Pro 4:4 Et docebat me, atque dicebat: Suscipiat verba mea cor tuum; custodi præcepta mea, et vives.(vulgate) 4 ׃4 וַיֹּרֵ֗נִי וַיֹּ֥אמֶר לִ֗י יִֽתְמָךְ־דְּבָרַ֥י לִבֶּ֑ךָ שְׁמֹ֖ר מִצְוֺתַ֣י וֽ͏ֶחְיֵֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 4:4 Und er lehrte mich und sprach: Laß dein Herz meine Worte aufnehmen; halte meine Gebote, so wirst du leben.(dhs) Pro 4:4 He also taught me, and said to me: "Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:5 ============ Pro 4:5 Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.(nas) Pro 4:5 φύλασσε ἐντολάς μὴ ἐπιλάθῃ μηδὲ παρίδῃς ῥῆσιν ἐμοῦ στόματος (lxx) Pro 4:5 Posside sapientiam, posside prudentiam: ne obliviscaris, neque declines a verbis oris mei.(vulgate) 5 ׃4 קְנֵ֣ה חָ֭כְמָה קְנֵ֣ה בִינָ֑ה אַל־תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח וְאַל־תֵּ֝֗ט מֵֽאִמְרֵי־פִֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 4:5 Nimm an Weisheit, nimm an Verstand; vergiß nicht und weiche nicht von der Rede meines Mundes.(dhs) Pro 4:5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:6 ============ Pro 4:6 "Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you.(nas) Pro 4:6 μηδὲ ἐγκαταλίπῃς αὐτήν καὶ ἀνθέξεταί σου ἐράσθητι αὐτῆς καὶ τηρήσει σε (lxx) Pro 4:6 Ne dimittas eam, et custodiet te: dilige eam, et conservabit te.(vulgate) 6 ׃4 אַל־תַּעַזְבֶ֥הָ וְתִשְׁמְרֶ֑ךָּ אֱהָבֶ֥הָ וְתִצְּרֶֽךָּ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:6 Verlaß sie nicht, so wird sie dich bewahren; liebe sie, so wird sie dich behüten.(dhs) Pro 4:6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:7 ============ Pro 4:7 "The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding.(nas) Pro 4:7 LXX differs (lxx) Pro 4:7 Principium sapientiæ: posside sapientiam, et in omni possessione tua acquire prudentiam.(vulgate) 7 ׃4 רֵאשִׁ֣ית חָ֭כְמָה קְנֵ֣ה חָכְמָ֑ה וּבְכָל־קִ֝נְיָנְךָ֗ קְנֵ֣ה בִינָֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 4:7 Denn der Weisheit Anfang ist, wenn man sie gerne hört und die Klugheit lieber hat als alle Güter.(dhs) Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:8 ============ Pro 4:8 "Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her.(nas) Pro 4:8 περιχαράκωσον αὐτήν καὶ ὑψώσει σε τίμησον αὐτήν ἵνα σε περιλάβῃ (lxx) Pro 4:8 Arripe illam, et exaltabit te; glorificaberis ab ea cum eam fueris amplexatus.(vulgate) 8 ׃4 סַלְסְלֶ֥הָ וּֽתְרוֹמְמֶ֑ךָּ תְּ֝כַבֵּ֗דְךָ כִּ֣י תְחַבְּקֶֽנָּה׃ Proverbs Pro 4:8 Achte sie hoch, so wird sie dich erhöhen, und wird dich zu Ehren bringen, wo du sie herzest.(dhs) Pro 4:8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:9 ============ Pro 4:9 "She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty."(nas) Pro 4:9 ἵνα δῷ τῇ σῇ κεφαλῇ στέφανον χαρίτων στεφάνῳ δὲ τρυφῆς ὑπερασπίσῃ σου (lxx) Pro 4:9 Dabit capiti tuo augmenta gratiarum, et corona inclyta proteget te.]~(vulgate) 9 ׃4 תִּתֵּ֣ן לְ֭רֹאשְׁךָ לִוְיַת־חֵ֑ן עֲטֶ֖רֶת תִּפְאֶ֣רֶת תְּמַגְּנֶֽךָּ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:9 Sie wird dein Haupt schön schmücken und wird dich zieren mit einer prächtigen Krone.(dhs) Pro 4:9 She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you."(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:10 ============ Pro 4:10 Hear, my son, and accept my sayings And the years of your life will be many.(nas) Pro 4:10 ἄκουε υἱέ καὶ δέξαι ἐμοὺς λόγους καὶ πληθυνθήσεται ἔτη ζωῆς σου ἵνα σοι γένωνται πολλαὶ ὁδοὶ βίου (lxx) Pro 4:10 [Audi, fili mi, et suscipe verba mea, ut multiplicentur tibi anni vitæ.(vulgate) 10 ׃4 שְׁמַ֣ע בְּ֭נִי וְקַ֣ח אֲמָרָ֑י וְיִרְבּ֥וּ לְ֝ךָ֗ שְׁנ֣וֹת חַיִּֽים׃ Proverbs Pro 4:10 So höre, mein Kind, und nimm an meine Rede, so werden deiner Jahre viel werden.(dhs) Pro 4:10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:11 ============ Pro 4:11 I have directed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths.(nas) Pro 4:11 ὁδοὺς γὰρ σοφίας διδάσκω σε ἐμβιβάζω δέ σε τροχιαῖς ὀρθαῖς (lxx) Pro 4:11 Viam sapientiæ monstrabo tibi; ducam te per semitas æquitatis:(vulgate) 11 ׃4 בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ חָ֭כְמָה הֹרֵתִ֑יךָ הִ֝דְרַכְתִּ֗יךָ בְּמַעְגְּלֵי־יֹֽשֶׁר׃ Proverbs Pro 4:11 Ich will dich den Weg der Weisheit führen; ich will dich auf rechter Bahn leiten,(dhs) Pro 4:11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:12 ============ Pro 4:12 When you walk, your steps will not be impeded; And if you run, you will not stumble.(nas) Pro 4:12 ἐὰν γὰρ πορεύῃ οὐ συγκλεισθήσεταί σου τὰ διαβήματα ἐὰν δὲ τρέχῃς οὐ κοπιάσεις (lxx) Pro 4:12 quas cum ingressus fueris, non arctabuntur gressus tui, et currens non habebis offendiculum.(vulgate) 12 ׃4 בְּֽ֭לֶכְתְּךָ לֹא־יֵצַ֣ר צַעֲדֶ֑ךָ וְאִם־תָּ֝ר֗וּץ לֹ֣א תִכָּשֵֽׁל׃ Proverbs Pro 4:12 daß, wenn du gehst, dein Gang dir nicht sauer werde, und wenn du läufst, daß du nicht anstoßest.(dhs) Pro 4:12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:13 ============ Pro 4:13 Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.(nas) Pro 4:13 ἐπιλαβοῦ ἐμῆς παιδείας μὴ ἀφῇς ἀλλὰ φύλαξον αὐτὴν σεαυτῷ εἰς ζωήν σου (lxx) Pro 4:13 Tene disciplinam, ne dimittas eam; custodi illam, quia ipsa est vita tua.(vulgate) 13 ׃4 הַחֲזֵ֣ק בַּמּוּסָ֣ר אַל־תֶּ֑רֶף נִ֝צְּרֶ֗הָ כִּי־הִ֥יא חַיֶּֽיךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:13 Fasse die Zucht, laß nicht davon; bewahre sie, denn sie ist dein Leben.(dhs) Pro 4:13 Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:14 ============ Pro 4:14 Do not enter the path of the wicked And do not proceed in the way of evil men.(nas) Pro 4:14 ὁδοὺς ἀσεβῶν μὴ ἐπέλθῃς μηδὲ ζηλώσῃς ὁδοὺς παρανόμων (lxx) Pro 4:14 Ne delecteris in semitis impiorum, nec tibi placeat malorum via.(vulgate) 14 ׃4 בְּאֹ֣רַח רְ֭שָׁעִים אַל־תָּבֹ֑א וְאַל־תְּ֝אַשֵּׁ֗ר בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ רָעִֽים׃ Proverbs Pro 4:14 Komm nicht auf der Gottlosen Pfad und tritt nicht auf den Weg der Bösen.(dhs) Pro 4:14 Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:15 ============ Pro 4:15 Avoid it, do not pass by it; Turn away from it and pass on.(nas) Pro 4:15 ἐν ᾧ ἂν τόπῳ στρατοπεδεύσωσιν μὴ ἐπέλθῃς ἐκεῖ ἔκκλινον δὲ ἀπ᾽ αὐτῶν καὶ παράλλαξον (lxx) Pro 4:15 Fuge ab ea, nec transeas per illam; declina, et desere eam.(vulgate) 15 ׃4 פְּרָעֵ֥הוּ אַל־תַּעֲבָר־בּ֑וֹ שְׂטֵ֖ה מֵעָלָ֣יו וַעֲבֽוֹר׃ Proverbs Pro 4:15 Laß ihn fahren und gehe nicht darin; weiche von ihm und gehe vorüber.(dhs) Pro 4:15 Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:16 ============ Pro 4:16 For they cannot sleep unless they do evil; And they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble.(nas) Pro 4:16 οὐ γὰρ μὴ ὑπνώσωσιν ἐὰν μὴ κακοποιήσωσιν ἀφῄρηται ὁ ὕπνος αὐτῶν καὶ οὐ κοιμῶνται (lxx) Pro 4:16 Non enim dormiunt nisi malefecerint, et rapitur somnus ab eis nisi supplantaverint.(vulgate) 16 ׃4 כִּ֤י לֹ֣א יִֽ֭שְׁנוּ אִם־לֹ֣א יָרֵ֑עוּ וְֽנִגְזְלָ֥ה שְׁ֝נָתָ֗ם אִם־לֹ֥א *יכשולו **יַכְשִֽׁילוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:16 Denn sie schlafen nicht, sie haben denn Übel getan; und ruhen nicht, sie haben den Schaden getan.(dhs) Pro 4:16 For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:17 ============ Pro 4:17 For they eat the bread of wickedness And drink the wine of violence.(nas) Pro 4:17 οἵδε γὰρ σιτοῦνται σῖτα ἀσεβείας οἴνῳ δὲ παρανόμῳ μεθύσκονται (lxx) Pro 4:17 Comedunt panem impietatis, et vinum iniquitatis bibunt.(vulgate) 17 ׃4 כִּ֣י לָ֭חֲמוּ לֶ֣חֶם רֶ֑שַׁע וְיֵ֖ין חֲמָסִ֣ים יִשְׁתּֽוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:17 Denn sie nähren sich von gottlosem Brot und trinken vom Wein des Frevels.(dhs) Pro 4:17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:18 ============ Pro 4:18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.(nas) Pro 4:18 αἱ δὲ ὁδοὶ τῶν δικαίων ὁμοίως φωτὶ λάμπουσιν προπορεύονται καὶ φωτίζουσιν ἕως κατορθώσῃ ἡ ἡμέρα (lxx) Pro 4:18 Justorum autem semita quasi lux splendens procedit, et crescit usque ad perfectam diem.(vulgate) 18 ׃4 וְאֹ֣רַח צַ֭דִּיקִים כְּא֣וֹר נֹ֑גַהּ הוֹלֵ֥ךְ וָ֝א֗וֹר עַד־נְכ֥וֹן הַיּֽוֹם׃ Proverbs Pro 4:18 Aber der Gerechten Pfad glänzt wie das Licht, das immer heller leuchtet bis auf den vollen Tag.(dhs) Pro 4:18 But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:19 ============ Pro 4:19 The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble.(nas) Pro 4:19 αἱ δὲ ὁδοὶ τῶν ἀσεβῶν σκοτειναί οὐκ οἴδασιν πῶς προσκόπτουσιν (lxx) Pro 4:19 Via impiorum tenebrosa; nesciunt ubi corruant.(vulgate) 19 ׃4 דֶּ֣רֶךְ רְ֭שָׁעִים כָּֽאֲפֵלָ֑ה לֹ֥א יָ֝דְע֗וּ בַּמֶּ֥ה יִכָּשֵֽׁלוּ׃ פ Proverbs Pro 4:19 Der Gottlosen Weg aber ist wie Dunkel; Incline your ear to my sayings.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:21 ============ Pro 4:21 Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart.(nas) Pro 4:21 ὅπως μὴ ἐκλίπωσίν σε αἱ πηγαί σου φύλασσε αὐτὰς ἐν σῇ καρδίᾳ (lxx) Pro 4:21 Ne recedant ab oculis tuis: custodi ea in medio cordis tui:(vulgate) 21 ׃4 אַל־יַלִּ֥יזוּ מֵעֵינֶ֑יךָ שָׁ֝מְרֵ֗ם בְּת֣וֹךְ לְבָבֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:21 Laß sie nicht von deinen Augen fahren, behalte sie in deinem Herzen.(dhs) Pro 4:21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:22 ============ Pro 4:22 For they are life to those who find them And health to all their body.(nas) Pro 4:22 ζωὴ γάρ ἐστιν τοῖς εὑρίσκουσιν αὐτὰς καὶ πάσῃ σαρκὶ ἴασις (lxx) Pro 4:22 vita enim sunt invenientibus ea, et universæ carni sanitas.(vulgate) 22 ׃4 כִּֽי־חַיִּ֣ים הֵ֭ם לְמֹצְאֵיהֶ֑ם וּֽלְכָל־בְּשָׂר֥וֹ מַרְפֵּֽא׃ Proverbs Pro 4:22 Denn sie sind das Leben denen, die sie finden, und gesund ihrem ganzen Leibe.(dhs) Pro 4:22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:23 ============ Pro 4:23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.(nas) Pro 4:23 πάσῃ φυλακῇ τήρει σὴν καρδίαν ἐκ γὰρ τούτων ἔξοδοι ζωῆς (lxx) Pro 4:23 Omni custodia serva cor tuum, quia ex ipso vita procedit.(vulgate) 23 ׃4 מִֽכָּל־מִ֭שְׁמָר נְצֹ֣ר לִבֶּ֑ךָ כִּֽי־מִ֝מֶּ֗נּוּ תּוֹצְא֥וֹת חַיִּֽים׃ Proverbs Pro 4:23 Behüte dein Herz mit allem Fleiß; denn daraus geht das Leben.(dhs) Pro 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:24 ============ Pro 4:24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth And put devious speech far from you.(nas) Pro 4:24 περίελε σεαυτοῦ σκολιὸν στόμα καὶ ἄδικα χείλη μακρὰν ἀπὸ σοῦ ἄπωσαι (lxx) Pro 4:24 Remove a te os pravum, et detrahentia labia sint procul a te.(vulgate) 24 ׃4 הָסֵ֣ר מִ֭מְּךָ עִקְּשׁ֣וּת פֶּ֑ה וּלְז֥וּת שְׂ֝פָתַ֗יִם הַרְחֵ֥ק מִמֶּֽךָּ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:24 Tue von dir den verkehrten Mund und laß das Lästermaul ferne von dir sein.(dhs) Pro 4:24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:25 ============ Pro 4:25 Let your eyes look directly ahead And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.(nas) Pro 4:25 οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ὀρθὰ βλεπέτωσαν τὰ δὲ βλέφαρά σου νευέτω δίκαια (lxx) Pro 4:25 Oculi tui recta videant, et palpebræ tuæ præcedant gressus tuos.(vulgate) 25 ׃4 עֵ֭ינֶיךָ לְנֹ֣כַח יַבִּ֑יטוּ וְ֝עַפְעַפֶּ֗יךָ יַיְשִׁ֥רוּ נֶגְדֶּֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:25 Laß deine Augen stracks vor sich sehen und deine Augenlider richtig vor dir hin blicken.(dhs) Pro 4:25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:26 ============ Pro 4:26 Watch the path of your feet And all your ways will be established.(nas) Pro 4:26 ὀρθὰς τροχιὰς ποίει σοῖς ποσὶν καὶ τὰς ὁδούς σου κατεύθυνε (lxx) Pro 4:26 Dirige semitam pedibus tuis, et omnes viæ tuæ stabilientur.(vulgate) 26 ׃4 פַּ֭לֵּס מַעְגַּ֣ל רַגְלֶ֑ךָ וְֽכָל־דְּרָכֶ֥יךָ יִכֹּֽנוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 4:26 Laß deinen Fuß gleich vor sich gehen, so gehst du gewiß.(dhs) Pro 4:26 Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 4:27 ============ Pro 4:27 Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil.(nas) Pro 4:27 μὴ ἐκκλίνῃς εἰς τὰ δεξιὰ μηδὲ εἰς τὰ ἀριστερά ἀπόστρεψον δὲ σὸν πόδα ἀπὸ ὁδοῦ κακῆς Pro 4:27 Ne declines ad dexteram neque ad sinistram; averte pedem tuum a malo: vias enim quæ a dextris sunt novit Dominus: perversæ vero sunt quæ a sinistris sunt.
