Today's Date: ======= Proverbs 6:1 ============ Pro 6:1 My son, if you have become surety for your neighbor, Have given a pledge for a stranger,(nas) Pro 6:1 υἱέ ἐὰν ἐγγυήσῃ σὸν φίλον παραδώσεις σὴν χεῖρα ἐχθρῷ (lxx) Pro 6:1 [Fili mi, si spoponderis pro amico tuo, defixisti apud extraneum manum tuam:(vulgate) 1 ׃6 בְּ֭נִי אִם־עָרַ֣בְתָּ לְרֵעֶ֑ךָ תָּקַ֖עְתָּ לַזָּ֣ר כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:1 Mein Kind, wirst du Bürge für deinen Nächsten und hast deine Hand bei einem Fremden verhaftet,(dhs) Pro 6:1 My son, if you become surety for your friend, If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:2 ============ Pro 6:2 If you have been snared with the words of your mouth, Have been caught with the words of your mouth,(nas) Pro 6:2 παγὶς γὰρ ἰσχυρὰ ἀνδρὶ τὰ ἴδια χείλη καὶ ἁλίσκεται χείλεσιν ἰδίου στόματος (lxx) Pro 6:2 illaqueatus es verbis oris tui, et captus propriis sermonibus.(vulgate) 2 ׃6 נוֹקַ֥שְׁתָּ בְאִמְרֵי־פִ֑יךָ נִ֝לְכַּ֗דְתָּ בְּאִמְרֵי־פִֽיךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:2 so bist du verknüpft durch die Rede deines Mundes und gefangen mit den Reden deines Mundes.(dhs) Pro 6:2 You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:3 ============ Pro 6:3 Do this then, my son, and deliver yourself; Since you have come into the hand of your neighbor, Go, humble yourself, and importune your neighbor.(nas) Pro 6:3 ποίει υἱέ ἃ ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι καὶ σῴζου ἥκεις γὰρ εἰς χεῖρας κακῶν διὰ σὸν φίλον ἴθι μὴ ἐκλυόμενος παρόξυνε δὲ καὶ τὸν φίλον σου ὃν ἐνεγυήσω (lxx) Pro 6:3 Fac ergo quod dico, fili mi, et temetipsum libera, quia incidisti in manum proximi tui. Discurre, festina, suscita amicum tuum.(vulgate) 3 ׃6 עֲשֵׂ֨ה זֹ֥את אֵפ֪וֹא ׀ בְּנִ֡י וְֽהִנָּצֵ֗ל כִּ֘י בָ֤אתָ בְכַף־רֵעֶ֑ךָ לֵ֥ךְ הִ֝תְרַפֵּ֗ס וּרְהַ֥ב רֵעֶֽיךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:3 So tue doch, mein Kind, also und errette dich, denn du bist deinem Nächsten in die Hände gekommen: eile, dränge und treibe deinen Nächsten.(dhs) Pro 6:3 So do this, my son, and deliver yourself; For you have come into the hand of your friend: Go and humble yourself; Plead with your friend.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:4 ============ Pro 6:4 Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids;(nas) Pro 6:4 μὴ δῷς ὕπνον σοῖς ὄμμασιν μηδὲ ἐπινυστάξῃς σοῖς βλεφάροις (lxx) Pro 6:4 Ne dederis somnum oculis tuis, nec dormitent palpebræ tuæ.(vulgate) 4 ׃6 אַל־תִּתֵּ֣ן שֵׁנָ֣ה לְעֵינֶ֑יךָ וּ֝תְנוּמָ֗ה לְעַפְעַפֶּֽיךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:4 Laß deine Augen nicht schlafen, noch deinen Augenlider schlummern.(dhs) Pro 6:4 Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:5 ============ Pro 6:5 Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hunter's hand And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.(nas) Pro 6:5 ἵνα σῴζῃ ὥσπερ δορκὰς ἐκ βρόχων καὶ ὥσπερ ὄρνεον ἐκ παγίδος (lxx) Pro 6:5 Eruere quasi damula de manu, et quasi avis de manu aucupis.]~(vulgate) 5 ׃6 הִ֭נָּצֵל כִּצְבִ֣י מִיָּ֑ד וּ֝כְצִפּ֗וֹר מִיַּ֥ד יָקֽוּשׁ׃ פ Proverbs Pro 6:5 Errette dich wie ein Reh von der Hand und wie eine Vogel aus der Hand des Voglers.(dhs) Pro 6:5 Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:6 ============ Pro 6:6 Go to the ant, O sluggard, Observe her ways and be wise,(nas) Pro 6:6 ἴθι πρὸς τὸν μύρμηκα ὦ ὀκνηρέ καὶ ζήλωσον ἰδὼν τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ γενοῦ ἐκείνου σοφώτερος (lxx) Pro 6:6 [Vade ad formicam, o piger, et considera vias ejus, et disce sapientiam.(vulgate) 6 ׃6 לֵֽךְ־אֶל־נְמָלָ֥ה עָצֵ֑ל רְאֵ֖ה דְרָכֶ֣יהָ וַחֲכָֽם׃ Proverbs Pro 6:6 Gehe hin zur Ameise, du Fauler; siehe ihre Weise an und lerne!(dhs) Pro 6:6 Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:7 ============ Pro 6:7 Which, having no chief, Officer or ruler,(nas) Pro 6:7 ἐκείνῳ γὰρ γεωργίου μὴ ὑπάρχοντος μηδὲ τὸν ἀναγκάζοντα ἔχων μηδὲ ὑπὸ δεσπότην ὢν (lxx) Pro 6:7 Quæ cum non habeat ducem, nec præceptorem, nec principem,(vulgate) 7 ׃6 אֲשֶׁ֖ר אֵֽין־לָ֥הּ קָצִ֗ין שֹׁטֵ֥ר וּמֹשֵֽׁל׃ Proverbs Pro 6:7 Ob sie wohl keinen Fürsten noch Hauptmann noch Herrn hat,(dhs) Pro 6:7 Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:8 ============ Pro 6:8 Prepares her food in the summer And gathers her provision in the harvest.(nas) Pro 6:8 ἑτοιμάζεται θέρους τὴν τροφὴν πολλήν τε ἐν τῷ ἀμήτῳ ποιεῖται τὴν παράθεσιν Pro 6:8 parat in æstate cibum sibi, et congregat in messe quod comedat.(vulgate) 8 ׃6 תָּכִ֣ין בַּקַּ֣יִץ לַחְמָ֑הּ אָגְרָ֥ה בַ֝קָּצִ֗יר מַאֲכָלָֽהּ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:8 bereitet sie doch ihr Brot im Sommer und sammelt ihre Speise in der Ernte.(dhs) Pro 6:8 Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:9 ============ Pro 6:9 How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?(nas) Pro 6:9 ἕως τίνος ὀκνηρέ κατάκεισαι πότε δὲ ἐξ ὕπνου ἐγερθήσῃ (lxx) Pro 6:9 Usquequo, piger, dormies? quando consurges e somno tuo?(vulgate) 9 ׃6 עַד־מָתַ֖י עָצֵ֥ל ׀ תִּשְׁכָּ֑ב מָ֝תַ֗י תָּק֥וּם מִשְּׁנָתֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:9 Wie lange liegst du, Fauler? Wann willst du aufstehen von deinem Schlaf?(dhs) Pro 6:9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep?(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:10 ============ Pro 6:10 "A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest"--(nas) Pro 6:10 ὀλίγον μὲν ὑπνοῖς ὀλίγον δὲ κάθησαι μικρὸν δὲ νυστάζεις ὀλίγον δὲ ἐναγκαλίζῃ χερσὶν στήθη (lxx) Pro 6:10 Paululum dormies, paululum dormitabis, paululum conseres manus ut dormias;(vulgate) 10 ׃6 מְעַ֣ט שֵׁ֭נוֹת מְעַ֣ט תְּנוּמ֑וֹת מְעַ֓ט ׀ חִבֻּ֖ק יָדַ֣יִם לִשְׁכָּֽב׃ Proverbs Pro 6:10 Ja, schlafe noch ein wenig, schlummere ein wenig, schlage die Hände ineinander ein wenig, daß du schlafest,(dhs) Pro 6:10 A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep--(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:11 ============ Pro 6:11 Your poverty will come in like a vagabond And your need like an armed man.(nas) Pro 6:11 εἶτ᾽ ἐμπαραγίνεταί σοι ὥσπερ κακὸς ὁδοιπόρος ἡ πενία καὶ ἡ ἔνδεια ὥσπερ ἀγαθὸς δρομεύς Pro 6:11 et veniet tibi quasi viator egestas, et pauperies quasi vir armatus. Si vero impiger fueris, veniet ut fons messis tua, et egestas longe fugiet a te.]~(vulgate) 11 ׃6 וּבָֽא־כִמְהַלֵּ֥ךְ רֵאשֶׁ֑ךָ וּ֝מַחְסֹֽרְךָ֗ כְּאִ֣ישׁ מָגֵֽן׃ פ Proverbs Pro 6:11 so wird dich die Armut übereilen wie ein Fußgänger und der Mangel wie ein gewappneter Mann.(dhs) Pro 6:11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:12 ============ Pro 6:12 A worthless person, a wicked man, Is the one who walks with a perverse mouth,(nas) Pro 6:12 ἀνὴρ ἄφρων καὶ παράνομος πορεύεται ὁδοὺς οὐκ ἀγαθάς (lxx) Pro 6:12 [Homo apostata, vir inutilis, graditur ore perverso;(vulgate) 12 ׃6 אָדָ֣ם בְּ֭לִיַּעַל אִ֣ישׁ אָ֑וֶן ה֝וֹלֵ֗ךְ עִקְּשׁ֥וּת פֶּֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 6:12 Ein heilloser Mensch, ein schädlicher Mann geht mit verstelltem Munde,(dhs) Pro 6:12 A worthless person, a wicked man, Walks with a perverse mouth;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:13 ============ Pro 6:13 Who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, Who points with his fingers;(nas) Pro 6:13 ὁ δ᾽ αὐτὸς ἐννεύει ὀφθαλμῷ σημαίνει δὲ ποδί διδάσκει δὲ ἐννεύμασιν δακτύλων (lxx) Pro 6:13 annuit oculis, terit pede, digito loquitur,(vulgate) 13 ׃6 קֹרֵ֣ץ בְּ֭עֵינָו מֹלֵ֣ל בְּרַגְלָ֑ו מֹ֝רֶ֗ה בְּאֶצְבְּעֹתָֽיו׃ Proverbs Pro 6:13 winkt mit Augen, deutet mit Füßen, zeigt mit Fingern,(dhs) Pro 6:13 He winks with his eyes, He shuffles his feet, He points with his fingers;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:14 ============ Pro 6:14 Who with perversity in his heart continually devises evil, Who spreads strife.(nas) Pro 6:14 διεστραμμένῃ δὲ καρδίᾳ τεκταίνεται κακὰ ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ ὁ τοιοῦτος ταραχὰς συνίστησιν πόλει (lxx) Pro 6:14 pravo corde machinatur malum, et omni tempore jurgia seminat.(vulgate) 14 ׃6 תַּֽהְפֻּכ֨וֹת ׀ בְּלִבּ֗וֹ חֹרֵ֣שׁ רָ֣ע בְּכָל־עֵ֑ת *מדנים **מִדְיָנִ֥ים יְשַׁלֵּֽחַ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:14 trachtet allezeit Böses und Verkehrtes in seinem Herzen und richtet Hader an.(dhs) Pro 6:14 Perversity is in his heart, He devises evil continually, He sows discord.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:15 ============ Pro 6:15 Therefore his calamity will come suddenly; Instantly he will be broken and there will be no healing.(nas) Pro 6:15 διὰ τοῦτο ἐξαπίνης ἔρχεται ἡ ἀπώλεια αὐτοῦ διακοπὴ καὶ συντριβὴ ἀνίατος (lxx) Pro 6:15 Huic extemplo veniet perditio sua, et subito conteretur, nec habebit ultra medicinam.]~(vulgate) 15 ׃6 עַל־כֵּ֗ן פִּ֭תְאֹם יָב֣וֹא אֵיד֑וֹ פֶּ֥תַע יִ֝שָּׁבֵ֗ר וְאֵ֣ין מַרְפֵּֽא׃ פ Proverbs Pro 6:15 Darum wird ihm plötzlich sein Verderben kommen, und er wird schnell zerbrochen werden, da keine Hilfe dasein wird.(dhs) Pro 6:15 Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; Suddenly he shall be broken without remedy.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:16 ============ Pro 6:16 There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:(nas) Pro 6:16 ὅτι χαίρει πᾶσιν οἷς μισεῖ ὁ κύριος συντρίβεται δὲ δι᾽ ἀκαθαρσίαν ψυχῆς (lxx) Pro 6:16 [Sex sunt quæ odit Dominus, et septimum detestatur anima ejus:(vulgate) 16 ׃6 שֶׁשׁ־הֵ֭נָּה שָׂנֵ֣א יְהוָ֑ה וְ֝שֶׁ֗בַע *תועבות **תּוֹעֲבַ֥ת נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:16 Diese sechs Stücke haßt der HERR, und am siebenten hat er einen Greuel:(dhs) Pro 6:16 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:17 ============ Pro 6:17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,(nas) Pro 6:17 ὀφθαλμὸς ὑβριστοῦ γλῶσσα ἄδικος χεῖρες ἐκχέουσαι αἷμα δικαίου (lxx) Pro 6:17 oculos sublimes, linguam mendacem, manus effundentes innoxium sanguinem,(vulgate) 17 ׃6 עֵינַ֣יִם רָ֭מוֹת לְשׁ֣וֹן שָׁ֑קֶר וְ֝יָדַ֗יִם שֹׁפְכ֥וֹת דָּם־נָקִֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 6:17 hohe Augen, falsche Zunge, Hände, die unschuldig Blut vergießen,(dhs) Pro 6:17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:18 ============ Pro 6:18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,(nas) Pro 6:18 καὶ καρδία τεκταινομένη λογισμοὺς κακοὺς καὶ πόδες ἐπισπεύδοντες κακοποιεῖν (lxx) Pro 6:18 cor machinans cogitationes pessimas, pedes veloces ad currendum in malum,(vulgate) 18 ׃6 לֵ֗ב חֹ֭רֵשׁ מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת אָ֑וֶן רַגְלַ֥יִם מְ֝מַהֲר֗וֹת לָר֥וּץ לָֽרָעָה׃ Proverbs Pro 6:18 Herz, das mit böser Tücke umgeht, Füße, die behend sind, Schaden zu tun,(dhs) Pro 6:18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:19 ============ Pro 6:19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.(nas) Pro 6:19 ἐκκαίει ψεύδη μάρτυς ἄδικος καὶ ἐπιπέμπει κρίσεις ἀνὰ μέσον ἀδελφῶν (lxx) Pro 6:19 proferentem mendacia testem fallacem, et eum qui seminat inter fratres discordias.]~(vulgate) 19 ׃6 יָפִ֣יחַ כְּ֭זָבִים עֵ֣ד שָׁ֑קֶר וּמְשַׁלֵּ֥חַ מְ֝דָנִ֗ים בֵּ֣ין אַחִֽים׃ פ Proverbs Pro 6:19 falscher Zeuge, der frech Lügen redet und wer Hader zwischen Brüdern anrichtet.(dhs) Pro 6:19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:20 ============ Pro 6:20 My son, observe the commandment of your father And do not forsake the teaching of your mother;(nas) Pro 6:20 υἱέ φύλασσε νόμους πατρός σου καὶ μὴ ἀπώσῃ θεσμοὺς μητρός σου (lxx) Pro 6:20 [Conserva, fili mi, præcepta patris tui, et ne dimittas legem matris tuæ.(vulgate) 20 ׃6 נְצֹ֣ר בְּ֭נִי מִצְוַ֣ת אָבִ֑יךָ וְאַל־תִּ֝טֹּ֗שׁ תּוֹרַ֥ת אִמֶּֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:20 Mein Kind, bewahre die Gebote deines Vaters und laß nicht fahren das Gesetz deiner Mutter.(dhs) Pro 6:20 My son, keep your father's command, And do not forsake the law of your mother.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:21 ============ Pro 6:21 Bind them continually on your heart; Tie them around your neck.(nas) Pro 6:21 ἄφαψαι δὲ αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ σῇ ψυχῇ διὰ παντὸς καὶ ἐγκλοίωσαι ἐπὶ σῷ τραχήλῳ (lxx) Pro 6:21 Liga ea in corde tuo jugiter, et circumda gutturi tuo.(vulgate) 21 ׃6 קָשְׁרֵ֣ם עַל־לִבְּךָ֣ תָמִ֑יד עָ֝נְדֵ֗ם עַל־גַּרְגְּרֹתֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:21 Binde sie zusammen auf dein Herz allewege und hänge sie an deinen Hals,(dhs) Pro 6:21 Bind them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your neck.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:22 ============ Pro 6:22 When you walk about, they will guide you; When you sleep, they will watch over you; And when you awake, they will talk to you.(nas) Pro 6:22 ἡνίκα ἂν περιπατῇς ἐπάγου αὐτήν καὶ μετὰ σοῦ ἔστω ὡς δ᾽ ἂν καθεύδῃς φυλασσέτω σε ἵνα ἐγειρομένῳ συλλαλῇ σοι (lxx) Pro 6:22 Cum ambulaveris, gradiantur tecum; cum dormieris, custodiant te: et evigilans loquere cum eis.(vulgate) 22 ׃6 בְּהִתְהַלֶּכְךָ֨ ׀ תַּנְחֶ֬ה אֹתָ֗ךְ בְּֽ֭שָׁכְבְּךָ תִּשְׁמֹ֣ר עָלֶ֑יךָ וַ֝הֲקִיצ֗וֹתָ הִ֣יא תְשִׂיחֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:22 wenn du gehst, daß sie dich geleiten; wenn du dich legst, daß sie dich bewahren; wenn du aufwachst, daß sie zu dir sprechen.(dhs) Pro 6:22 When you roam, they will lead you; When you sleep, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:23 ============ Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; And reproofs for discipline are the way of life(nas) Pro 6:23 ὅτι λύχνος ἐντολὴ νόμου καὶ φῶς καὶ ὁδὸς ζωῆς ἔλεγχος καὶ παιδεία (lxx) Pro 6:23 Quia mandatum lucerna est, et lex lux, et via vitæ increpatio disciplinæ:(vulgate) 23 ׃6 כִּ֤י נֵ֣ר מִ֭צְוָה וְת֣וֹרָה א֑וֹר וְדֶ֥רֶךְ חַ֝יִּ֗ים תּוֹכְח֥וֹת מוּסָֽר׃ Proverbs Pro 6:23 Denn das Gebot ist eine Leuchte und das Gesetz ein Licht, und die Strafe der Zucht ist ein Weg des Lebens,(dhs) Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp, And the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:24 ============ Pro 6:24 To keep you from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the adulteress.(nas) Pro 6:24 τοῦ διαφυλάσσειν σε ἀπὸ γυναικὸς ὑπάνδρου καὶ ἀπὸ διαβολῆς γλώσσης ἀλλοτρίας (lxx) Pro 6:24 ut custodiant te a muliere mala, et a blanda lingua extraneæ.(vulgate) 24 ׃6 לִ֭שְׁמָרְךָ מֵאֵ֣שֶׁת רָ֑ע מֵֽ֝חֶלְקַ֗ת לָשׁ֥וֹן נָכְרִיָּֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 6:24 auf daß du bewahrt werdest vor dem bösen Weibe, vor der glatten Zunge der Fremden.(dhs) Pro 6:24 To keep you from the evil woman, From the flattering tongue of a seductress.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:25 ============ Pro 6:25 Do not desire her beauty in your heart, Nor let her capture you with her eyelids.(nas) Pro 6:25 μή σε νικήσῃ κάλλους ἐπιθυμία μηδὲ ἀγρευθῇς σοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς μηδὲ συναρπασθῇς ἀπὸ τῶν αὐτῆς βλεφάρων (lxx) Pro 6:25 Non concupiscat pulchritudinem ejus cor tuum, nec capiaris nutibus illius:(vulgate) 25 ׃6 אַל־תַּחְמֹ֣ד יָ֭פְיָהּ בִּלְבָבֶ֑ךָ וְאַל־תִּ֝קָּֽחֲךָ֗ בְּעַפְעַפֶּֽיהָ׃ Proverbs Pro 6:25 Laß dich ihre Schöne nicht gelüsten in deinem Herzen und verfange dich nicht an ihren Augenlidern.(dhs) Pro 6:25 Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:26 ============ Pro 6:26 For on account of a harlot one is reduced to a loaf of bread, And an adulteress hunts for the precious life.(nas) Pro 6:26 τιμὴ γὰρ πόρνης ὅση καὶ ἑνὸς ἄρτου γυνὴ δὲ ἀνδρῶν τιμίας ψυχὰς ἀγρεύει (lxx) Pro 6:26 pretium enim scorti vix est unius panis, mulier autem viri pretiosam animam capit.(vulgate) 26 ׃6 כִּ֤י בְעַד־אִשָּׁ֥ה זוֹנָ֗ה עַֽד־כִּכַּ֫ר לָ֥חֶם וְאֵ֥שֶׁת אִ֑ישׁ נֶ֖פֶשׁ יְקָרָ֣ה תָצֽוּד׃ פ Proverbs Pro 6:26 Denn eine Hure bringt einen ums Brot;
