Today's Date: ======= Proverbs 5:1 ============ Pro 5:1 My son, give attention to my wisdom, Incline your ear to my understanding;(nas) Pro 5:1 υἱέ ἐμῇ σοφίᾳ πρόσεχε ἐμοῖς δὲ λόγοις παράβαλλε σὸν οὖς (lxx) Pro 5:1 [Fili mi, attende ad sapientiam meam, et prudentiæ meæ inclina aurem tuam:(vulgate) 1 ׃5 בְּ֭נִי לְחָכְמָתִ֣י הַקְשִׁ֑יבָה לִ֝תְבוּנָתִ֗י הַט־אָזְנֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:1 Mein Kind, merke auf meine Weisheit; neige dein Ohr zu meiner Lehre,(dhs) Pro 5:1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:2 ============ Pro 5:2 That you may observe discretion And your lips may reserve knowledge.(nas) Pro 5:2 ἵνα φυλάξῃς ἔννοιαν ἀγαθήν αἴσθησιν δὲ ἐμῶν χειλέων ἐντέλλομαί σοι (lxx) Pro 5:2 ut custodias cogitationes, et disciplinam labia tua conservent. Ne attendas fallaciæ mulieris;(vulgate) 2 ׃5 לִשְׁמֹ֥ר מְזִמּ֑וֹת וְ֝דַ֗עַת שְׂפָתֶ֥יךָ יִנְצֹֽרוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:2 daß du bewahrest guten Rat und dein Mund wisse Unterschied zu halten.(dhs) Pro 5:2 That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:3 ============ Pro 5:3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey And smoother than oil is her speech;(nas) Pro 5:3 μὴ πρόσεχε φαύλῃ γυναικί μέλι γὰρ ἀποστάζει ἀπὸ χειλέων γυναικὸς πόρνης ἣ πρὸς καιρὸν λιπαίνει σὸν φάρυγγα (lxx) Pro 5:3 favus enim distillans labia meretricis, et nitidius oleo guttur ejus:(vulgate) 3 ׃5 כִּ֤י נֹ֣פֶת תִּ֭טֹּפְנָה שִׂפְתֵ֣י זָרָ֑ה וְחָלָ֖ק מִשֶּׁ֣מֶן חִכָּֽהּ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:3 Denn die Lippen der Hure sind süß wie Honigseim, und ihre Kehle ist glätter als Öl,(dhs) Pro 5:3 For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:4 ============ Pro 5:4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.(nas) Pro 5:4 ὕστερον μέντοι πικρότερον χολῆς εὑρήσεις καὶ ἠκονημένον μᾶλλον μαχαίρας διστόμου (lxx) Pro 5:4 novissima autem illius amara quasi absinthium, et acuta quasi gladius biceps.(vulgate) 4 ׃5 וְֽ֭אַחֲרִיתָהּ מָרָ֣ה כַֽלַּעֲנָ֑ה חַ֝דָּ֗ה כְּחֶ֣רֶב פִּיּֽוֹת׃ Proverbs Pro 5:4 aber hernach bitter wie Wermut und scharf wie ein zweischneidiges Schwert.(dhs) Pro 5:4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:5 ============ Pro 5:5 Her feet go down to death, Her steps take hold of Sheol.(nas) Pro 5:5 τῆς γὰρ ἀφροσύνης οἱ πόδες κατάγουσιν τοὺς χρωμένους αὐτῇ μετὰ θανάτου εἰς τὸν ᾅδην τὰ δὲ ἴχνη αὐτῆς οὐκ ἐρείδεται (lxx) Pro 5:5 Pedes ejus descendunt in mortem, et ad inferos gressus illius penetrant.(vulgate) 5 ׃5 רַ֭גְלֶיהָ יֹרְד֣וֹת מָ֑וֶת שְׁ֝א֗וֹל צְעָדֶ֥יהָ יִתְמֹֽכוּ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:5 Ihre Füße laufen zum Tod hinunter; ihre Gänge führen ins Grab.(dhs) Pro 5:5 Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:6 ============ Pro 5:6 She does not ponder the path of life; Her ways are unstable, she does not know it.(nas) Pro 5:6 ὁδοὺς γὰρ ζωῆς οὐκ ἐπέρχεται σφαλεραὶ δὲ αἱ τροχιαὶ αὐτῆς καὶ οὐκ εὔγνωστοι (lxx) Pro 5:6 Per semitam vitæ non ambulant; vagi sunt gressus ejus et investigabiles.(vulgate) 6 ׃5 אֹ֣רַח חַ֭יִּים פֶּן־תְּפַלֵּ֑ס נָע֥וּ מַ֝עְגְּלֹתֶ֗יהָ לֹ֣א תֵדֽ͏ָע׃ פ Proverbs Pro 5:6 Sie geht nicht stracks auf dem Wege des Lebens; unstet sind ihre Tritte, daß sie nicht weiß, wo sie geht.(dhs) Pro 5:6 Lest you ponder her path of life-- Her ways are unstable; You do not know them.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:7 ============ Pro 5:7 Now then, my sons, listen to me And do not depart from the words of my mouth.(nas) Pro 5:7 νῦν οὖν υἱέ ἄκουέ μου καὶ μὴ ἀκύρους ποιήσῃς ἐμοὺς λόγους (lxx) Pro 5:7 Nunc ergo fili mi, audi me, et ne recedas a verbis oris mei.(vulgate) 7 ׃5 וְעַתָּ֣ה בָ֭נִים שִׁמְעוּ־לִ֑י וְאַל־תָּ֝ס֗וּרוּ מֵאִמְרֵי־פִֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 5:7 So gehorchet mir nun, meine Kinder, und weichet nicht von der Rede meines Mundes.(dhs) Pro 5:7 Therefore hear me now, my children, And do not depart from the words of my mouth.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:8 ============ Pro 5:8 Keep your way far from her And do not go near the door of her house,(nas) Pro 5:8 μακρὰν ποίησον ἀπ᾽ αὐτῆς σὴν ὁδόν μὴ ἐγγίσῃς πρὸς θύραις οἴκων αὐτῆς (lxx) Pro 5:8 Longe fac ab ea viam tuam, et ne appropinques foribus domus ejus.(vulgate) 8 ׃5 הַרְחֵ֣ק מֵעָלֶ֣יהָ דַרְכֶּ֑ךָ וְאַל־תִּ֝קְרַ֗ב אֶל־פֶּ֥תַח בֵּיתָֽהּ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:8 Laß deine Wege ferne von ihr sein, und nahe nicht zur Tür ihres Hauses,(dhs) Pro 5:8 Remove your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:9 ============ Pro 5:9 Or you will give your vigor to others And your years to the cruel one;(nas) Pro 5:9 ἵνα μὴ πρόῃ ἄλλοις ζωήν σου καὶ σὸν βίον ἀνελεήμοσιν (lxx) Pro 5:9 Ne des alienis honorem tuum, et annos tuos crudeli:(vulgate) 9 ׃5 פֶּן־תִּתֵּ֣ן לַאֲחֵרִ֣ים הוֹדֶ֑ךָ וּ֝שְׁנֹתֶ֗יךָ לְאַכְזָרִֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 5:9 daß du nicht den Fremden gebest deine Ehre und deine Jahre dem Grausamen;(dhs) Pro 5:9 Lest you give your honor to others, And your years to the cruel one;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:10 ============ Pro 5:10 And strangers will be filled with your strength And your hard-earned goods will go to the house of an alien;(nas) Pro 5:10 ἵνα μὴ πλησθῶσιν ἀλλότριοι σῆς ἰσχύος οἱ δὲ σοὶ πόνοι εἰς οἴκους ἀλλοτρίων εἰσέλθωσιν (lxx) Pro 5:10 ne forte implentur extranei viribus tuis, et labores tui sint in domo aliena,(vulgate) 10 ׃5 פֶּֽן־יִשְׂבְּע֣וּ זָרִ֣ים כֹּחֶ֑ךָ וַ֝עֲצָבֶ֗יךָ בְּבֵ֣ית נָכְרֽ͏ִי׃ Proverbs Pro 5:10 daß sich nicht Fremde von deinem Vermögen sättigen und deine Arbeit nicht sei in eines andern Haus,(dhs) Pro 5:10 Lest aliens be filled with your wealth, And your labors go to the house of a foreigner;(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:11 ============ Pro 5:11 And you groan at your final end, When your flesh and your body are consumed;(nas) Pro 5:11 καὶ μεταμεληθήσῃ ἐπ᾽ ἐσχάτων ἡνίκα ἂν κατατριβῶσιν σάρκες σώματός σου (lxx) Pro 5:11 et gemas in novissimis, quando consumpseris carnes tuas et corpus tuum, et dicas:(vulgate) 11 ׃5 וְנָהַמְתָּ֥ בְאַחֲרִיתֶ֑ךָ בִּכְל֥וֹת בְּ֝שָׂרְךָ֗ וּשְׁאֵרֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:11 und müssest hernach seufzen, wenn du Leib und Gut verzehrt hast,(dhs) Pro 5:11 And you mourn at last, When your flesh and your body are consumed,(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:12 ============ Pro 5:12 And you say, "How I have hated instruction! And my heart spurned reproof!(nas) Pro 5:12 καὶ ἐρεῖς πῶς ἐμίσησα παιδείαν καὶ ἐλέγχους ἐξέκλινεν ἡ καρδία μου (lxx) Pro 5:12 Cur detestatus sum disciplinam, et increpationibus non acquievit cor meum,(vulgate) 12 ׃5 וְֽאָמַרְתָּ֗ אֵ֭יךְ שָׂנֵ֣אתִי מוּסָ֑ר וְ֝תוֹכַ֗חַת נָאַ֥ץ לִבִּֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 5:12 und sprechen: "Ach, wie habe ich die Zucht gehaßt und wie hat mein Herz die Strafe verschmäht!(dhs) Pro 5:12 And say: "How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction!(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:13 ============ Pro 5:13 "I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to my instructors!(nas) Pro 5:13 οὐκ ἤκουον φωνὴν παιδεύοντός με καὶ διδάσκοντός με οὐδὲ παρέβαλλον τὸ οὖς μου (lxx) Pro 5:13 nec audivi vocem docentium me, et magistris non inclinavi aurem meam?(vulgate) 13 ׃5 וְֽלֹא־שָׁ֭מַעְתִּי בְּק֣וֹל מוֹרָ֑י וְ֝לִֽמְלַמְּדַ֗י לֹא־הִטִּ֥יתִי אָזְנִֽי׃ Proverbs Pro 5:13 wie habe ich nicht gehorcht der Stimme meiner Lehrer und mein Ohr nicht geneigt zu denen, die mich lehrten!(dhs) Pro 5:13 I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:14 ============ Pro 5:14 "I was almost in utter ruin In the midst of the assembly and congregation."(nas) Pro 5:14 παρ᾽ ὀλίγον ἐγενόμην ἐν παντὶ κακῷ ἐν μέσῳ ἐκκλησίας καὶ συναγωγῆς (lxx) Pro 5:14 pene fui in omni malo, in medio ecclesiæ et synagogæ.(vulgate) 14 ׃5 כִּ֭מְעַט הָיִ֣יתִי בְכָל־רָ֑ע בְּת֖וֹךְ קָהָ֣ל וְעֵדָֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 5:14 Ich bin schier in alles Unglück gekommen vor allen Leuten und allem Volk."(dhs) Pro 5:14 I was on the verge of total ruin, In the midst of the assembly and congregation."(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:15 ============ Pro 5:15 Drink water from your own cistern And fresh water from your own well.(nas) Pro 5:15 πῖνε ὕδατα ἀπὸ σῶν ἀγγείων καὶ ἀπὸ σῶν φρεάτων πηγῆς (lxx) Pro 5:15 Bibe aquam de cisterna tua, et fluenta putei tui;(vulgate) 15 ׃5 שְׁתֵה־מַ֥יִם מִבּוֹרֶ֑ךָ וְ֝נֹזְלִ֗ים מִתּ֥וֹךְ בְּאֵרֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:15 Trink Wasser aus deiner Grube und Flüsse aus deinem Brunnen.(dhs) Pro 5:15 Drink water from your own cistern, And running water from your own well.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:16 ============ Pro 5:16 Should your springs be dispersed abroad, Streams of water in the streets?(nas) Pro 5:16 μὴ ὑπερεκχείσθω σοι τὰ ὕδατα ἐκ τῆς σῆς πηγῆς εἰς δὲ σὰς πλατείας διαπορευέσθω τὰ σὰ ὕδατα (lxx) Pro 5:16 deriventur fontes tui foras, et in plateis aquas tuas divide.(vulgate) 16 ׃5 יָפ֣וּצוּ מַעְיְנֹתֶ֣יךָ ח֑וּצָה בָּ֝רְחֹב֗וֹת פַּלְגֵי־מָֽיִם׃ Proverbs Pro 5:16 Laß deine Brunnen herausfließen und die Wasserbäche auf die Gassen.(dhs) Pro 5:16 Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, Streams of water in the streets?(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:17 ============ Pro 5:17 Let them be yours alone And not for strangers with you.(nas) Pro 5:17 ἔστω σοι μόνῳ ὑπάρχοντα καὶ μηδεὶς ἀλλότριος μετασχέτω σοι (lxx) Pro 5:17 Habeto eas solus, nec sint alieni participes tui.(vulgate) 17 ׃5 יִֽהְיוּ־לְךָ֥ לְבַדֶּ֑ךָ וְאֵ֖ין לְזָרִ֣ים אִתָּֽךְ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:17 Habe du aber sie allein, und kein Fremder mit dir.(dhs) Pro 5:17 Let them be only your own, And not for strangers with you.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:18 ============ Pro 5:18 Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth.(nas) Pro 5:18 ἡ πηγή σου τοῦ ὕδατος ἔστω σοι ἰδία καὶ συνευφραίνου μετὰ γυναικὸς τῆς ἐκ νεότητός σου (lxx) Pro 5:18 Sit vena tua benedicta, et lætare cum muliere adolescentiæ tuæ.(vulgate) 18 ׃5 יְהִֽי־מְקוֹרְךָ֥ בָר֑וּךְ וּ֝שְׂמַ֗ח מֵאֵ֥שֶׁת נְעוּרֶֽךָ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:18 Dein Born sei gesegnet, und freue dich des Weibes deiner Jugend.(dhs) Pro 5:18 Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:19 ============ Pro 5:19 As a loving hind and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love.(nas) Pro 5:19 ἔλαφος φιλίας καὶ πῶλος σῶν χαρίτων ὁμιλείτω σοι ἡ δὲ ἰδία ἡγείσθω σου καὶ συνέστω σοι ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ ἐν γὰρ τῇ ταύτης φιλίᾳ συμπεριφερόμενος πολλοστὸς ἔσῃ (lxx) Pro 5:19 Cerva carissima, et gratissimus hinnulus: ubera ejus inebrient te in omni tempore; in amore ejus delectare jugiter.(vulgate) 19 ׃5 אַיֶּ֥לֶת אֲהָבִ֗ים וְֽיַעֲלַ֫ת חֵֽ[m]ן דַּ֭דֶּיהָ יְרַוֻּ֣ךָ בְכָל־עֵ֑ת בְּ֝אַהֲבָתָ֗הּ תִּשְׁגֶּ֥ה תָמִֽיד׃ Proverbs Pro 5:19 Sie ist lieblich wie die Hinde und holdselig wie ein Reh. Laß dich ihre Liebe allezeit sättigen und ergötze dich allewege in ihrer Liebe.(dhs) Pro 5:19 As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And always be enraptured with her love.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:20 ============ Pro 5:20 For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress And embrace the bosom of a foreigner?(nas) Pro 5:20 μὴ πολὺς ἴσθι πρὸς ἀλλοτρίαν μηδὲ συνέχου ἀγκάλαις τῆς μὴ ἰδίας (lxx) Pro 5:20 Quare seduceris, fili mi, ab aliena, et foveris in sinu alterius?(vulgate) 20 ׃5 וְלָ֤מָּה תִשְׁגֶּ֣ה בְנִ֣י בְזָרָ֑ה וּ֝תְחַבֵּ֗ק חֵ֣ק נָכְרִיָּֽה׃ Proverbs Pro 5:20 Mein Kind, warum willst du dich an der Fremden ergötzen und herzest eine andere?(dhs) Pro 5:20 For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:21 ============ Pro 5:21 For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, And He watches all his paths.(nas) Pro 5:21 ἐνώπιον γάρ εἰσιν τῶν τοῦ θεοῦ ὀφθαλμῶν ὁδοὶ ἀνδρός εἰς δὲ πάσας τὰς τροχιὰς αὐτοῦ σκοπεύει (lxx) Pro 5:21 Respicit Dominus vias hominis, et omnes gressus ejus considerat.(vulgate) 21 ׃5 כִּ֤י נֹ֨כַח ׀ עֵינֵ֣י יְ֭הוָה דַּרְכֵי־אִ֑ישׁ וְֽכָל־מַעְגְּלֹתָ֥יו מְפַלֵּֽס׃ Proverbs Pro 5:21 Denn jedermanns Wege sind offen vor dem HERRN, und er mißt alle ihre Gänge.(dhs) Pro 5:21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, And He ponders all his paths.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:22 ============ Pro 5:22 His own iniquities will capture the wicked, And he will be held with the cords of his sin.(nas) Pro 5:22 παρανομίαι ἄνδρα ἀγρεύουσιν σειραῖς δὲ τῶν ἑαυτοῦ ἁμαρτιῶν ἕκαστος σφίγγεται (lxx) Pro 5:22 Iniquitates suas capiunt impium, et funibus peccatorum suorum constringitur.(vulgate) 22 ׃5 עַֽווֹנוֹתָ֗יו יִלְכְּדֻנ֥וֹ אֶת־הָרָשָׁ֑ע וּבְחַבְלֵ֥י חַ֝טָּאת֗וֹ יִתָּמֵֽךְ׃ Proverbs Pro 5:22 Die Missetat des Gottlosen wird ihn fangen, und er wird mit dem Strick seiner Sünde gehalten werden.(dhs) Pro 5:22 His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, And he is caught in the cords of his sin.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 5:23 ============ Pro 5:23 He will die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.(nas) Pro 5:23 οὗτος τελευτᾷ μετὰ ἀπαιδεύτων ἐκ δὲ πλήθους τῆς ἑαυτοῦ βιότητος ἐξερρίφη καὶ ἀπώλετο δι᾽ ἀφροσύνην (lxx) Pro 5:23 Ipse morietur, quia non habuit disciplinam, et in multitudine stultitiæ suæ decipietur.](vulgate) 23 ׃5 ה֗וּא יָ֭מוּת בְּאֵ֣ין מוּסָ֑ר וּבְרֹ֖ב אִוַּלְתּ֣וֹ יִשְׁגֶּֽה׃ פ Proverbs Pro 5:23 Er wird sterben, darum daß er sich nicht will ziehen lassen; und um seiner großen Torheit willen wird's ihm nicht wohl gehen.(dhs) Pro 5:23 He shall die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.(nkjv) ======= Proverbs 6:1 ============ top of the page
